Fazza is the Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, the Dubai Autism Centre, and the Dubai Sports Council. But it looks like it's his hobbies that keep him really busy.

Skydiving, horseback riding, cycling, ziplining, and diving are just a few pastimes he excels in. If that's not enough, he is also a talented photographer, world traveller, and published poet.

Before he was a real-estate mogul, a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, or the president of the United States, Donald Trump was an unruly teen whose parents sent him to military school.

Trump's parents sent him to the New York Military Academy when he was 13 because of his acting up.

His father, Fred Trump, hoped "the discipline of the school would channel his energy in a positive manner," according to The Washington Post.

Trump graduated in 1964 and went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania.

Thanks to Classmates.com, we found photos of Trump from his time at the school.

Here are some pictures of Trump that are over a half-century old:

SEE ALSO: It took Trump just 69 days to accomplish something that the country's most unpopular presidents took years to achieve

This is Trump's senior picture, from the New York Military Academy's 1964 yearbook.

That year, Trump was voted the "Ladies Man" of his class in a likely tremendous "popularity poll." We're guessing it was the first of many polls Trump would win.

Here's Trump in his military attire.

How 20 Marvel Netflix characters compare to the comics

$
0
0

jessica jones

It’s only been a few years since Marvel and Netflix announced their historic deal to bring a number of the comic company’s street-level heroes to life in the MCU. Since then, we’ve been treated to two seasons of "Daredevil," and one each from "Jessica Jones,""Luke Cage," and "Iron Fist." This summer, the core heroes and their supporting characters will all join forces for "The Defenders," marking an effort nearly as impressive as when Marvel first brought "The Avengers" to the big screen.

While the plot and threat they’ll face are unknown, it’s likely to involve a culmination of each of the series so far. It’ll also be a fun and exciting way to finally see all of these heavy-hitters join forces like they regularly do in the comics. And while we’re sure to get a few new characters from the comics on "The Defenders," the five seasons of shows so far have already introduced us to MCU versions of a lot of familiar faces. But how accurate are they to the source material?

Here’s how 20 of Marvel’s Netflix characters compare to the comics:

SEE ALSO: Here are all 44 movie sequels and reboots coming out in 2017

20. Nuke

Nuke is one of the more colorful characters from Marvel Comics, literally. Recognizable from his facial tattoo of an American flag and known for extreme acts of terrorism in the name of nationalism, Nuke hardly seems like a candidate for the more grounded Netflix universe. Still, he was used to surprisingly fitting effect in "Jessica Jones" as an overeager cop with a dark past. On the show, it’s eventually revealed he was part of an experimental military outfit that equipped him with strength-inducing pills. This, at least partly, ties into his comic history, where his powers are even crazier.

On the page, he first appeared in 1986’s Daredevil #232. Created by Frank Miller, Frank Simpson (changed to Will for Netflix) once fought in the Vietnam War. Eventually, he became a part of the fledgling Weapon Plus program, which tried to recreate the Super Soldier Serum. He was given cybernetic enhancements, a durable fake skin, and red, white, and blue pills to raise his adrenaline, balance him out, and bring him down respectively. In the MCU, much of this will likely be streamlined whenever the character returns, but we could see him and Jessica given a connection to the Super Soldier Program.

19. Colleen Wing

The Colleen Wing we got to know in the recent release of "Iron Fist" was fairly close to her comic book persona. While we don’t know much about her past so far, her history as a gifted and katana-wielding martial artist has remained intact. There’s also hints of her famous father, another connection to the comics. The show even managed a version of her famous white jumpsuit, complete with accompanying wings on the back.

Another nod to her comic persona is the name “Daughter of the Dragon”, which she uses in her cage match. In the comics, she and Misty Knight are often paired together as a team of crime-fighters called the Daughters of the Dragon. Many fans are hoping to see this become a reality following the two characters meeting in this summer’s "The Defenders."

With lore that goes back all the way to her debut in 1974’s Marvel Premiere #19, there’s a lot left to explore when it comes to this fan-favorite character.

18. Ben Urich

One of the most disappointing things about the first season of "Daredevil" was the dispatching of Ben Urich. Aside from the show losing one of its only black characters, Urich has a long and rich history in Marvel Comics that would have proven the perfect foundation for the reporter to tie together the entire MCU. Dating back to 1978’s Daredevil #153, Urich has been involved with Daredevil. In fact, thanks to his skills as an ace reporter, Urich was able to figure out Daredevil’s secret identity.

His many connections to the heroes of New York have given him access and knowledge no other reporter has been privy to, allowing him to topple criminal empires with his stories. In the comics, he even helped take down Kingpin. Sadly, his efforts to do the same on "Daredevil" left him dead, preventing this venerable Marvel character from interacting with his other longtime collaborator, Spider-Man.

Have you heard of Quanzhou?

The odds are, probably not. And yet, Quanzhou, China is home to 800,000 more people than Madrid, which you probably have heard of.

The Guardian recently reported that China has over 100 cities with populations of over one million. 119 of these cities are bigger than Liverpool.

The size and population of China can be mind-bendingly confusing, and it can be hard to put things into perspective.

The sheer scale of the country's enormity is best illustrated by pictures, which is where Reuters news agency comes in.

Reuters has collected its best images of China, captured from above. If anything can help you get your head around the size of the world's most populous country, it's the photos below.

The 8 biggest reveals from Baselworld, the year's largest watch show

Longines Heritage 1945

What's old is new again at the watch industry's largest worldwide expo in Switzerland.

Baselworld is often an occasion for the world's largest and most popular watch makers to release their shiny new models. It's about as exciting as the watch industry gets — think Christmas for watch geeks.

A whole lot of new models were announced at the show this year, as were tweaks to existing models. And it seems that with the scorching vintage watch market and a struggling Swiss watch industry, brands are trying to capture the zeitgeist with new, updated releases to classic 20th-century watches.

We rounded up eight of the biggest announcements and rew releases.

Grand Seiko

Grand Seiko, newly spun out from under the larger Seiko brand, is its handmade luxury division.

Seiko watches have a great reputation for a good reason — they're excellent pieces. This year, the brand is releasing a modern version of its original 1960 classic piece in three different metals: gold, steel, and platinum.

Seiko Prospex Diver

Seiko has a rich history for its main watch brand, too.

In 1965, the company made its first diver watch. This a close reproduction of that piece, but with the expected modern upgrades.

Rolex Cellini Moonphase

The Rolex Cellini Moonphase is the newest entry to the brand's 20th-century-inspired dress watch line. The addition of a moonphase marks the first time the brand has included that complication since the 1950s, according to Hodinkee.

The moonphase complication will remain accurate for 122 years without adjustment, according to Rolex. It tells the current lunar phase with a blue disk carrying an empty ring and meteorite appliqué moon.

The world's largest online food retailer gets its food from giant robotic grocery warehouses — take a look

SecondHands_closeangleshot Ocado

When you order a jar of peanut butter or package of paper towels from Ocado— the world's largest online food retailer — chances are, it was picked by a robot.

Ocado has a total of three warehouses that deliver in the UK. They use robots, automated conveyor belts, shuttles, and cranes to pick up and carry food items at high-speed to trucks outside. The food is then delivered to customers.

The company's largest warehouses, located outside Birmingham and London, process over 1.3 million items per day, Ocado's CTO, Paul Clarke, tells Business Insider. The company will start construction on a fourth facility in 2018. It will measure approximately 563,000 square feet, making it one of the largest grocery warehouses in the world.

Though Ocado doesn't deliver as many food items as Amazon in the UK, it claims that its warehouses are more heavily automated than Amazon's.

"For grocery retail, Ocado has the most advanced automated warehouses in the world," Clarke says.

Take a look inside its robot-run facilities.

It does this with the help of automated conveyor belts, cranes, shuttles, and other machines. They transport orange plastic bins around the warehouse at high speeds.

Here's where you're most likely to run into American wildlife that could kill you

$

FILE PHOTO: A handout photo of an endagerered gray wolf from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service/Handout via Reuters/File Photo

In June 2016, a 2-year-old boy was playing near the water at a Disney World resort when an alligator attacked and killed him. A black bear attacked a woman running the marathon in New Mexico a few days later. In Colorado, a mom fought off a mountain lion to save her 5-year-old son, who was attacked in their backyard.

Even when the headlines about wildlife don't involve attacks — a bear is spotted swimming in a backyard pool, for example, or a great white shark is tagged off the coast of Cape Cod — we are still vividly reminded that America is not only our home, but also the home to some dangerous, wild predators as well. And sometimes these creatures are closer than we think.

But how dangerous are these animals really? How afraid of them should we be? Well, it turns out, we shouldn't be too afraid since the animals we fear most might not actually be the most deadly. For example, dogs, deer, and cows kill more Americans every year than bears, sharks, or alligators.

So from wolves to spiders, here is a look at 10 creatures that most normal Americans fear, where they live, and just how dangerous they really are.

SEE ALSO: How likely are foreign terrorists to kill Americans? The odds may surprise you

DON'T MISS: Great whites are back in Cape Cod — here's what you need to know

Bears

Odds are if you see a bear, it will be a black bear, as they are the most common in the US. There are at least 600,000 black bears in North America and about half of those are found in the US. As opportunistic eaters, they have also developed a taste for human food and garbage, which has made them more brazen and more dangerous.

Black bears can weigh up to 300 pounds (136 kilograms). Grizzly bears are bigger, weighing upwards of 700 pounds (317 kilograms), and they are very fast runners; some have been clocked running at 30 mph (48 kmh), according to National Geographic. There are an estimated 1,800 grizzly bears remaining in the lower 48 states.

Your chances of being injured by a bear are approximately 1 in 2.1 million, according to the National Park Service. Between 1900 and 2009, around 63 people were killed in 59 incidents involving black bears, according to a report in Wildlife Management, which is a relatively low number. Grizzlies are more threatening, with the average encounter being 21 times more dangerous than a black bear encounter, reports National Geographic. Encounters with mothers and their cubs create the most dangerous situations.

So, if you are in bear country, remember to try not to attract bears with food and perfume. Carry bear spray if you are hiking and travel in groups. Stand your ground, don't run, and make loud noises if you run into one to try to scare them away.

Sharks

For those of us that have seen the movie Jaws, sharks can be terrifying. Of the many different kinds of sharks swimming in our oceans, some of the ones most often involved in attacks on humans are great whites, bull sharks, and tiger sharks. While great whites might be the biggest, bull sharks are the most aggressive. They also hunt closer to shore and in shallower waters.

It is important to note though, that no shark typically hunts humans, according to NOAA, and when they do, it is usually a case of mistaken identity— we humans are mistaken for their normal prey, such as seals. Typically, the US sees only about 30-40 shark attacks a year, reports USA Today, and, on average, maybe only one of those is deadly.

This translates to a 1-in-8-million chance you'd ever die from a shark attack; meanwhile, a global asteroid strike is 100 times more likely to kill you.

If you are planning on swimming in the ocean, try to swim in groups, don't swim with any kind of open cut, take off any shiny jewelry, and try not to splash too much. It is also best to avoid swimming at dawn and dusk, when sharks usually prey.

Mountain lions and Florida panthers

Mountain lions go by many names, including pumas, cougars, or catamounts. They are North America's largest wildcat and they can be fierce predators, with powerful limbs, sharp claws, and the ability to leap as high as 15 feet and as far as 40 feet, according to Defenders of Wildlife.

The big cats roam from California to Texas, and some — like P-22, the cougar accused of killing a koala at the LA Zoo — live near cities. There are an estimated 30,000 of these animals in the US. The Florida panthers, a subspecies of the mountain lion, are less commonly seen because they are critically endangered, with only 100 to 180 left in the wild.

The chances of a person being attacked are small, though, because the cats are shy and usually avoid humans. When they do attack, children or solitary adults are usually the victims. According to National Geographic, there are on average only four mountain lion attacks and one fatality each year in all of the US and Canada.

For the billionaire who doesn't want to sleep too far from his sports car, the perfect home is now ready for move-in: Miami's Porsche Design Tower.

The 60-story building on Sunny Isles Beach is the first one in the US by the famed Porsche brand, which chose this Florida real-estate playground to make its mark, in partnership with Dezer Development.

More importantly, it's also the first building to contain a patented "Dezervator," essentially a drive-in car elevator.

Only six of the 132 units are still on the market — but that includes the four-level, 17,000-square-foot penthouse that's up for grabs for $32.5 million. That penthouse comes with two private pools and a four-car "sky garage."

The buyer will be in good company, as at least 22 billionaires have already bought in. Meanwhile, regular units can display up to nine cars, with extra space available for an added purchase price. Other building amenities include a spa, a ballroom, a movie theater, and a game room with race-car simulators.

The tower celebrated its grand opening March 18 with a performance by Alicia Keys.

Raisa Bruner contributed reporting to an earlier version of this article.

The tower is 60 stories tall, rising 650 feet on the shorefront of Sunny Isles Beach.

126 of the tower's 132 units have already sold, with an estimated sellout of $840 million.

There's a large pool on the ground floor, just steps away from the beach.

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Johnny Ward traveled to every country in the world over the course 10 years and made $1.5 million doing it.
  • He spent about three weeks in each country, taking time to explore each place.
  • He feels more compelled to help the world and is working to help build schools in Southeast Asia.

Johnny Ward is living the dream.

The travel blog he started as a broke backpacker called OneStep4Ward developed into an online marketing firm that he can manage from anywhere in the world. He built himself a career that granted him the flexibility to travel for 10 years (and counting), and visit every country on Earth. Not to mention the $1.5 million he's earned along the way.

Ward spoke to INSIDER via email about how he made it all happen, one step at a time.

Johnny Ward didn't come from money growing up in Ireland.

He grew up on welfare in a single-parent household with his mother and sister. He moved to England to study International Economics, then decided to travel the world after graduating.

He funded his travels by teaching English in Thailand, and spent two years backpacking around Southeast Asia on a budget of about $10 to $15 a day.

When that money ran out, he started blogging on OneStep4Ward.

He quickly started earning around $7,000 a month.

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Kelsey and Joey Coleman honeymooned in Nicaragua, then decided to quit their jobs and move there.
  • They spent six months renovating a "pirate ship" and sailed 2,500 miles back to Nicaragua from San Diego.
  • For the past two years, they've been living near the beach and taking tourists on sunset cruises.

Kelsey and Joey Coleman
weren't even supposed to be in Nicaragua.

The couple had been planning to spend their honeymoon in Colombia when their flights fell through. Family members suggested they go to Nicaragua, instead.

For them, it was love at first sight. They were so captivated, in fact, that they decided to live there full-time. After buying a "pirate ship," fixing it up, and sailing it down from San Diego, they've spent the past two years living on Nicaragua's pristine shores and offering sunset cruises to tourists from around the world through their company, Two Guys Adventures.

Here's how they turned their honeymoon into a full-time gig.

Kelsey and Joey Coleman met in college at Boise State University.

Joey's love of the outdoors (particularly cliff jumping and mountain trekking) inspired Kelsey's own sense of adventure.

"He helped me find my wild," she said.

They vowed to explore the world together, and for the past eight years, they've done just that.

They both studied abroad in Australia, then moved to New Zealand and backpacked around the South Island.

"We bought a car for $800 and with a few bucks left over for gas and food we took off," she said.

They also lived in Singapore and traveled around Southeast Asia.

Most of the salt in your diet comes from these 25 foods

Pass the salt? Not so fast.

A whopping 70% of the sodium in our diets comes from 25 food categories, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Using data from a national survey done in 2013 and 2014, the report ranks those food groups based on how much of our salt intake they account for.

While the science is mixed on whether salt is a net positive or negative for our health, too much of anything is usually a recipe for problems.

The CDC's report says most of the foods ranked highly on the list were premade foods from grocery stores and meals from restaurants. (The report does not factor in additional salt we add at the dinner table but accounts for salt added in food processing and cooking.)

Here's the list.

DON'T MISS: The reason your friend's 'gluten-free' diet is making them feel better probably has nothing to do with gluten

25. Rice — Although rice on its own is naturally low in salt, most of us add more than a pinch when we cook it, and the CDC says this is largely to blame for its place on the list.

24. Cakes and pies — Typically eaten to satisfy a sweet craving, pre-made cakes and pies can contain a pretty surprising amount of sodium. A slice of cherry pie packs more than 300 mg of sodium or about 14% of the USDA's daily recommended allowance.

23. Other vegetables and combinations — Like rice, veggies are naturally low in salt, but a lot of us like to add seasonings (which often list salt as their first ingredient) or soy sauce when we grill or stir-fry them.

7 pieces of homebuying advice you can't afford to ignore

homebuyers

Purchasing a home is a huge accomplishment for many people, and the financial commitment is not to be taken lightly.

To help you avoid making the process any costlier than it already is, Business Insider has gathered some of the best homebuying advice from real estate experts, bestselling authors, and financial planners that could save you money and time.

Below, check out seven pieces of homebuying advice you simply can't afford to ignore:

SEE ALSO: 13 pieces of money advice you can't afford to ignore

DON'T MISS: A realtor explains how to set yourself up as a homebuyer long before you ever start shopping

1. Make sure your credit is in order well before you start shopping

When you apply for a mortgage, your interest rate for paying back the loan will depend partially on your credit history.

"A big thing when it comes to your mortgage is being able to qualify for the best interest rate you can," Sophia Bera, CFP and founder of Gen Y Planning, told Business Insider.

"Think about it: If you're going to have this loan for the next 15 to 30 years, you're going to be paying a ton of interest, tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on that loan," she said. "So a difference in interest of a quarter of a percent or half a percent or one percent makes a huge difference over the life of the mortgage."

While you can monitor a close approximation of your credit score throughout the year on sites like Credit Karma and Credit Sesame, Bera says it's worth paying a small fee to get your exact FICO score when you're preparing to buy a house. FICO scores are credit measures widely used by lenders to determine interest rates, and a high FICO score can help you secure the most reasonable ones.

"Really pay attention to credit, especially in the six months leading up to getting ready to buy a home," Bera says. "This is not just a month before, scrambling and then realizing, 'Oh my gosh, I have something old in collections!' Once you take care of that it usually takes a couple of months to be reflected on your credit score."

2. Don't use your emergency savings for a down payment

When it comes to buying a home, the more you have in savings, the better. But the money you're putting away for a down payment — typically 20% of the price of the home — should remain completely separate from your emergency fund, which is three to nine months of expenses earmarked for when something goes wrong.

Instead, it's best to keep your home savings somewhere else safe and liquid, self-made millionaire and bestselling author David Bach told Business Insider, particularly if you're looking to purchase in about three years.

"I'd tell you, put it in a money market account, and the reason is this: There's nothing more painful than saving for a down payment for a home and having the market go down," said Bach, who has spent 25 years in the wealth management industry.

"When it's a short-term time horizon, which is what three years is — three years is almost like tomorrow — you're better off to have safety and liquidity and see yourself making progress every month and not be losing sleep over it," he said.

In addition to security, a money market account could earn an interest rate of 1%, compared with the much lower 0.01% on a traditional savings account. These accounts can offer a higher interest rate because they usually require a minimum balance, which can vary widely depending on the bank (and if you dip under the minimum, you may incur a monthly fee).

A high-interest, online savings account yields a similar return.

3. Plan to spend no more than 30% of your income on housing

Personal finance experts say a good rule of thumb is to make sure your total monthly housing payment doesn't consume more than 30% of your take-home pay.

"Any more than that, and your finances are going to be tight, leaving you financially vulnerable when something inevitably goes wrong," write Harold Pollack and Helaine Olen in their book, "The Index Card.""To be fair, this isn't always possible. In some places such as New York and San Francisco, it can be all but impossible."

Scott McGillivray, a real estate expert and the host of HGTV's "Income Property," suggests calculating what a realistic mortgage would cost and putting the equivalent of that into savings each month before you plan to buy.

"The truth is, if you can't do that — if you can't put that money aside and you can't actually keep those savings every month — you may not be prepared to make your consistent mortgage payment," he says.

It's not a perfect model for what it would be like to pay a mortgage each month, since you're likely still forking over money for rent, but it proves that you're dedicated to the process and willing to make financial sacrifices in order to afford homeownership.

The new Lincoln Continental lives up to its famous name (F)

Lincoln Continental

The Lincoln Continental is just one of those cars. It really isn't even a car — it's an ideal, a dream, an evocation.

Ford introduced the Continental in the late 1930s, and over the decades it was conjoined with American history, most tragically in 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas while riding in a 1961 Continental limousine.

Ford discontinued the Continental as its flagship Lincoln luxury sedan in 2002, but the nameplate never really went away. You could say that it haunted Ford.

And then, in 2015, a new Continental concept car took the New York auto show by storm. Ford had considered killing off Lincoln after the financial crisis but decided against it and put billions into a revival of the brand. By 2016 we saw the production version of the big new sedan as it hit the car-show circuit.

Last year, we finally found ourselves behind the wheel of a 2017 Lincoln Continental Reserve with all-wheel drive, stickered at $56,000 but then benefitting from about $20,000 worth of options, taking the final price up to $76,000.

Lincoln usually has something special in store for the New York auto show, which kicks off in about a month. The Continental concept was a star in 2015, but did it live up to expectations — not to mention the lofty reputation of its name — when we checked it out? Read on:

The Continental concept was the toast of the 2015 New York auto show.

The production sedan went on display a year later.

Last year, we finally got a chance to test Lincoln's flagship sedan.
