The best chocolate chip cookie in every state, according to Yelp

$

kentucky yelp

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Yelp rounded up the best chocolate chip cookies in every state.
  • From bakeries to cafés to creameries, they all look delicious.

Did you know that chocolate chip cookies were invented by accident?

In 1930, Ruth Graves Wakefield of the Toll House Inn ran out of baker's chocolate and decided to chop up a block of Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate instead, hoping that it would melt and blend into the cookie dough. When the pieces kept their crunch while oozing chocolatey goodness, people couldn't get enough, and the chocolate chip cookie was born.

Their popularity has only grown. These days, Americans eat 7 billion chocolate chip cookies every year.

Yelp looked at reviews from bakeries, cafés, and creameries around the US to find the single-best one in every state.

Hope you've got a glass of milk ready.

Scientists have discovered 5 personality traits linked with a long life

friends diwali

Are you friendly? Open? Emotionally stable?

Dozens of large studies of older peoplearound the world suggest that these personality traits are among a handful of characteristics tied to a longer life.

And while one study found that we're not particularly good at identifying these traits in ourselves, it suggested that our close friends are often spot-on.

Read on — preferably with a friend — to find out if you possess any or all of these characteristics:

SEE ALSO: A 24-year old got a mysterious disease where her body attacked her brain — and everyone thought it was in her mind

DON'T MISS: The single best type of exercise for your brain, according to scientists

Conscientiousness

For their 75-year study of 300 engaged couples who enrolled in the study in their mid-20s, researchers found that men who were seen by their friends as more conscientious — meaning that they were less likely to take risks but also tended to be more thorough and efficient — lived longer.

Participants in the study picked a handful of friends to rate their personality using a 36-question scale created by psychologist E. Lowell Kelly in 1940. To verify that it was still valid, the researchers recently compared it with several other personality tests from the past decade.

Questions in the scale ranged from general queries like "Is he physically energetic and peppy?" to more personal ones like "How does he meet his appointments?"

Of the men in the study, those who were seen as more conscientious lived longer. A 2007 study of Californian men and women between 1930 and 2000 came to similar conclusions. People — regardless of their gender — who were independently ranked as conscientious as children and as adults lived longer than their peers who were not conscientious during either phase of their lives.

Openness

For that same 75-year study, openness also emerged as a trait that was linked with a long life, second to conscientiousness. Men who ranked highly in terms of this quality — meaning that they were willing to lend an ear to new and different ideas, feelings, and concepts — tended to live longer than other men in the study.

A 2006 study of Japanese people aged 100-106 also suggested that openness was linked with longevity. "We speculate that in the oldest-old, higher imaginativeness and openness to new experiences would help them to adapt to the many losses (friends, family, health, function) that occur in advanced age," the researchers write in their paper.

Emotional stability

The 75-year longevity study had slightly different takeaways for women than it did for men — of the female participants in the study, emotional stability was the trait with the strongest links to a long life. This could be partially because when the study began, in the 1930s, women tended to be portrayed as highly emotionally unstable, and as a result being emotionally stable could have been linked with greater benefits for women than for men.

This might be bolstered by the fact that another, more recent study of close to 2,400 men and women also found that emotional stability played a key role in longevity, only this time it applied to both men and women.

Meet the 9 hedge fund managers who made the most money in 2016

ray dalio2016 was a tough year for hedge funds.

The industry as a whole only delivered a 5.4% return for clients, well below the S&P 500's return of 11.9%, according to data from eVestment.

Poor performance and high fees drove money out of the money managers' funds by about $70 billion last year, the biggest drop since 2009, according to data tracker HFR.

This backdrop, however, had little impact on the bottom line of many of the top hedge fund managers of the world.

According to Institutional Investor's Alpha magazine's recently released list of the top-earning hedge fund managers, the top 25 hedge fund heads earned $11 billion in total last year.

Among the billionaires who posted subpar returns are Ken Griffin, founder of Citadel, who pocketed $600 million despite making investors in his main flagship funds just over 5%, according to the New York Times. And Dan Loeb, founder of Third Point, earned $260 million after his fund posted gains of just 6%.

To be sure, some fund managers performed well, such as Renaissance Technologies. The firm's Renaissance Institutional Equities Fund and Renaissance Institutional Diversified Alpha Fund gained 21.5% and 11%, per the Times.

While the amount of total money that managers made last year is down from others, according to the Times, it's still double than what it was in 2000, the year that Institutional Investor first rolled out the annual list.

Following are the top nine earnings from the list:

Italy's ultra-cheap airport 'capsule hotel' lets you sleep in a pod while you wait for your plane

benbo capsule hotel italy 12

Japan may have pioneered the "capsule hotel," where guests stay in no-frills micro-hotel rooms and sometimes pay by the hour, but Italy is making moves to perfect it.

The country's first capsule hotel is open for business at Naples Capodichino International Airport. Each of the 42 capsule rooms at BenBo has soundproof walls, a window (which is important in such cramped quarters), a drop-down table, a TV, and dedicated shoe storage, as The Contemporist reports.

These photos show what it's like to stay at BenBo.

SEE ALSO: IKEA is building micro-apartments for employees that are like an IKEA catalogue come to life

Leave it to one of the fashion capitals of the world to make the capsule hotel chic.

When a passenger misses a flight or craves some personal space during a long layover at the international airport in Naples, they can book a pod at BenBo, which is located on-site.

Each pod can be reserved for between one and nine hours. It costs about $11 an hour.

A pod that you pay for by the hour is an economical option for travelers who can't afford an annual pass at an airline's private lounge. According to Consumer Reports, these passes can set individuals back $500 — though some lounges offer single-day passes that are a steal at $50.

Where to propose based on your partner's zodiac sign

$
0
0

engagement ring couple

The INSIDER Summary:

  • You have the ring and the plan, now you just need a location.
  • Instead of making the decision super complicated, trying using your partner's zodiac sign to find the perfect place.
  • If they're Aquarius try Barcelona or if they're an Aries take them to Tulum b\Beach in Mexico.

You’ve purchased the ring and you’ve got visions of champagne and fireworks dancing around in your head. But one of the toughest parts of planning a proposal that no one seems to tell you about? The location.

Maybe you’re thinking of proposing in a bustling city, with the whole world watching — but what if your partner always dreamed of something private and low-key, with not a single soul to witness your profession of love?

Since this day should be all about your significant other, perhaps it’s a smart idea to think about their personality and what you think they might like. Of course, flat-out asking is not ideal (not if you want them to be surprised, anyway), so the next logical step is to do some serious location scouting.

Since you’ve got enough on your plate, we’ve went ahead and did the research for you.

Scroll down below to see where you should take your partner for the most epic proposal, according to their astrological sign.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)

Capricorns are ambitious and devoted partners who are well-deserving of a proposal that’s traditional but far from boring. Take your partner to Sancerre, France, a town that looks as though it’s been untouched by the last century.

Winding, hilly streets hold quaint houses and cafés, which give way to astonishing valley views. Enjoy a day at the Domaine Martin vineyard, and celebrate with a glass of wine you'll never forget. While it may not be Paris, we think a Capricorn will appreciate this striking spot much, much more.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)

Your partner is curious and imaginative and will no doubt expect a proposal that’s outside the box. Take them to the seaside city of Barcelona, Spain and experience the trip of a lifetime. Head to Park Güell to see the fantastical works of Antoni Guadí and his nearly 2-mile-long miniature village and whimsical landscaping.

Propose at the top of Turó de les Tres Creus, or the "Tower of the Three Crosses," a hidden stone tower at the top of the park that boasts the most incredible view of Barcelona. End the day walking the boardwalk along the Mediterranean at sunset.

Pisces (Feb. 19 - March 20)

Pisces are at their happiest when they can kick back and take in the scenery around them, so your proposal location is of the utmost importance for this water sign.

Make your partner’s jaw drop by taking them to Kaua’i, Hawaii. Aptly nicknamed the “Garden Isle” due to the dense tropical rainforest covering the island, this is paradise found for a couple looking for a romantic getaway. Get down on one knee at Hanalei Bay, where the 2-mile-long stretch of beach overlooks breathtaking mountains.

13 small things you can do to cut down on the sugar in your diet

$

Smoothies

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Most Americans consume more sugar than they should in a day.
  • Many foods have more added sugar (as opposed to natural sugar) than you think.
  • We talked to nutritionist Lisa Young to find out what you can do to decrease your sugar intake.
  • Her suggestions include drinking seltzer instead of soda, avoiding granola, eating regularly throughout the day, staying hydrated, and eating real fruit instead of dried fruit.

It's no secret that most Americans consume more sugar than they should on an average day.

That's because plenty of unexpected foods are packed with sugar.

It's important to make the distinction between natural sugar and added sugar, though. While natural sugar (fructose and lactose) occurs in fruit and dairy and is good for you, added sugars are processed and have no nutritional value.

We spoke with nutritionist Lisa Young to find out what small lifestyle changes you can make to help decrease your (added) sugar intake.

Keep scrolling to see what you should be cutting out of your diet — and what you should be adding to it — to ease up on the sugar you're consuming.

SEE ALSO: 11 things you think are healthier than they really are

DON'T MISS: Juice is the biggest con of your life, whether it's squeezed by hand or a $400 machine

Read the nutrition label on cereals

Many cereals contain way more sugar than you would think — even those branded as "healthy."

Young suggests reading cereal's nutrition labels. She says a good rule of thumb to keep in mind is that the sugar content of your cereal shouldn't be higher than its fiber content.

Avoid candy

This one should be a no-brainer, but in case you needed a reminder, candy is empty calories. It's packed with added sugars and has absolutely no nutritional value, so there's really no reason you should be eating it.

Drink (flavored) seltzer water instead of soda

Much like candy, soda also counts as empty calories. Plus, since it's a beverage, it won't fill you up like food does, so it's not likely to quell your cravings for other sugary or unhealthy foods.

If you enjoy drinking something fizzy, switch to seltzer water instead. You can even try a flavored seltzer.

Buffalo Wild Wings just torched a Bill Ackman protégé (BWLD)

buffalo wild wings

The ongoing war between Buffalo Wild Wings and Marcato Capital, a San Francisco-based hedge fund, is heating up.

On Tuesday Buffalo Wild Wings released a presentation to shareholders that emphasized the firm's strength and took shots at recent criticisms flung at the casual dining chain by Marcato. The hedge fund currently has a 6.1% stake in the company, according to a May press release by Marcato calling for board changes.

Marcato released a deck in April in which they outlined some of the company's failures and urged fellow shareholders to vote for a board shake-up. Marcato's wants the company to transition more towards franchise ownership, which it claims leads to more efficient management. The deck also included quotes from former Buffalo Wild Wings employees and customers bashing the company.

Buffalo Wild Wings said Marcato's belief that the company should move to a franchise model is based on flawed assumptions.

The presentation also called out Mick McGuire, Marcato's founder and head, for his "track record of losses in the boardroom," citing his tenure on the boards of NCR, a consumer technology company, and Borders, the now defunct bookstore. McGuire has been called a Bill Ackman "protégé."

"McGuire 'plan' to create value for Borders was unsuccessful, and Borders was eventually liquidated in a bankruptcy process," the company said.

The presentation referred to McGuire's time on NCR's board as "the lost year."

Ouch.

Below are the slides from the deck that respond directly to Marcato and McGuire.

These are world's shakiest beaches

shark water fishThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Shark attacks are not very common but it is good to be aware when we're sharing waters with them.
  • If attacked take aim with repeated hard blows to the eyes or gills, not the nose.
  • Beaches in Makena, Maui and Sharm El Sheik, Egypt are some of the beaches that have the most shark-infested waters.

If the ocean is a shark’s vast marine buffet, then humans are the Brussels sprouts—we’re far from the favorite. But that’s no consolation to a swimmer like Kori Robertson, who was attacked in early 2011 while wading in the ocean off the coast of Texas. A 12-foot shark took a bite of her thigh then quickly spat her out.

Sharing the world’s waterways with sharks means that occasionally we bump into one another—and the encounter doesn’t always end well for us humans. But don’t let that keep you from the water: shark attacks are very rare. Still, some beaches—for various reasons—attract more sharks than others.

To get some perspective and uncover the worst beaches for shark attacks, we culled data from news reports, the International Shark Attack File, and the Global Shark Attack File. Globally, there have been 447 fatal shark attacks and 2,320 nonfatal incidents since 1845. The number of reported shark attacks increased worldwide in 2010, with 79 attacks, up 25 percent from 61 the prior year, according to the International Shark Attack File. That said, in the U.S., the last decade has seen 230 deaths from dog bites and only eight from sharks.

“For an animal so large, sharks are remarkably cautious,” says Ralph S. Collier, president of the Shark Research Committee and author of Shark Attacks of the Twentieth Century. “They use all their keen senses to determine if something is food. The last thing they do is put it in their mouth. When they realize it’s of no interest they release it,” he says.

The three most likely sharks to attack a human are bull sharks, great white sharks, and tiger sharks. Different species have different personalities, and getting inside their brains is the first step in knowing which beaches should be avoided.

“Great white sharks spend most of their time in the open ocean,” explains Marie Levine, executive director of the Shark Research Institute and archivist for the Global Shark Attack File. Bull sharks love brackish river deltas and have been found as far as 60 miles inland, while tiger sharks are doggedly curious. They feed on carrion, turtles, and garbage, and are therefore most likely to give us an exploratory bite.

Two rules of thumb: never swim alone and, if you’re actually attacked, take aim with repeated hard blows to the eyes or gills, not the nose.

It’s no coincidence that the most dangerous beaches are the ones where tourists and locals flock to swim, surf, and snorkel; more people equals more potential for attacks. Some beaches, however, are particularly infested.

New Smyrna Beach, Florida

With 238 to date, New Smyrna Beach consistently sees more shark attacks annually than any other beach on the planet. (In 2008 it recorded more than a dozen incidents, according to the Global Shark Attack File.) The beach is part of Volusia County, which accounts for roughly 37 percent of Florida’s attacks. New Smyrna Beach has never yet had a fatality; most attacks amount to minor nibbles by young bull sharks, some no bigger than river trout. Still, it pays to have every bite treated by a doctor. “Bull sharks eat carrion so those cuts can easily become infected,” cautions Ralph S. Collier, president of the Shark Research Committee.

New South Wales, Australia

Encounters with great white sharks have been recorded along popular beaches from Bondi Beach to Byron Bay, with 55 fatalities and 171 unprovoked attacks. The problem may lie in the proximity of the continental shelf. “Very deep water close to shore compresses the habitat of coastal sharks and allows pelagic species like the great white shark to come close to shore,” says Marie Levine of the Shark Research Institute. Lisa Mondy recently had her arm bitten to the bone by a great white shark after falling from her wakeboard near Port Stephens—the same spot where surfer Ben Morcom was mauled in 2007.

Second Beach, Port St. Johns, South Africa

Cage diving with great white sharks draws tourists to South Africa like sharks to a bloody carcass—which is exactly what many tour operators use to guarantee sightings. Chumming the water with blood teaches sharks to associate humans with food and, according to Surfers Against Shark Cage Diving, the number of fatal attacks in South Africa has skyrocketed since the introduction of cage diving in 1992. There have been 23 fatalities since 1990, more than during the entire previous century. The style of attacks supports their case: white sharks are hunting at surf beaches.

The 17 purchases we’re most glad we made for our first apartment

Moving is a stressful experience no matter how you slice it, and taking on the job of finding and outfitting your first apartment as an adult is even more so.

Your first apartment is a perfect storm: an intersection of many needs and low resources. Chances are high that your college roommate might have bought the kitchen utensils... or the vacuum... or the pots and pans...  and now you’re trying to furnish an entire apartment on your own with less money than it seems the job will demand.

The few purchases you do make will need to last you longer than the cheap, seasonal models you bought in college so you’re not in the same spot, dumping more money into a dresser next year. You’ll likely want nicer belongings than plastic storage bins for all of your clothes as an adult now anyway.

Since it's unlikely you have a carte blanche at West Elm, the purchases you do make are best when backed up by the advice of people who’ve been there before and can help you choose wisely. While I went through my post-graduation apartment search recently, I decided to make use of an incredible resource and survey my colleagues on their most valuable first apartment purchases. We spend around 40 hours a week thinking of ways to optimize peoples' lives with valuable products, so the purchases we make for our own homes carry special significance for me.

Below, you'll find the 17 things the Insider Picks team is most glad we bought for our first apartment.

I recently bought a set of Brooklinen sheets and they are a great option. It's definitely a stretch of a purchase for a first apartment, but you use sheets every day so it's worthwhile.

Americans can't get enough of Publix.

The grocery chain, which has stores throughout the Southeast, was recently voted best grocery chain in the US.

Publix tied with Wegmans for the top spot in an annual survey of almost 13,000 shoppers, conducted by the consumer insights firm Market Force Information

For the past four years, the store has ranked second in the survey, above giant chains like Walmart, Kroger, and Whole Foods. This year, Walmart came in last place in the ranking of 23 stores.

Publix was praised for its cleanliness, easy-to-navigate layout, and fast check outs.

Here's what it's like to shop there:

The first Publix store was opened by George W. Jenkins in Florida in the midst of the Great Depression in 1930. It now has 1,146 stores across six states in the southeast.

The majority of its stores are in Florida and Georgia.

It is the largest employee-owned grocery chain in the country. Last year, it reported $2.03 billion in net profits, up by 3.1% from $1.97 billion in 2015.

Millennials’ favorite place to buy clothes online is Amazon — here’s why that shouldn’t surprise you

Amazon is called "The Everything Store" for good reason. We use it for everything.

However, Amazon probably isn't the first place most people think of when they need to buy a new work bag or pair of jeans or sneakers. But the data suggests they should.

According to Recode, millennials actually buy more clothing on Amazon than any other online retailer. In 2016, Amazon registered the most apparel sales in 2016 of any online retailer in the U.S. for shoppers aged 18 to 34, accounting for nearly 17% of all online clothing sales to the demographic last year, more than doubling the market share of the No. 2 seller, Nordstrom. Old Navy, J.Crew, and Victoria's Secret rounded out the top five.

When you think about it, though, it's not actually all that surprising. Over the past couple of years, Amazon has ramped up its investment in fashion by launching its own private-label clothing brands and sponsoring the first New York men's fashion week. Amazon is even working on its own athletic wear line

The company has also hired executives from luxury fashion companies, such as Julie Gilhart, the Barneys New York fashion director whom Amazon reportedly hired as a consultant, and Vogue editor Caroline Palmer. Also in the past few years, Amazon has started to shift its fashion strategy toward offering more high-end designers such as Stuart Weitzman and Rebecca Taylor and up-and-coming fashion labels such as 3x1, Loeffler Randall, and Solid & Striped.

Not only is Amazon increasingly a destination for all the labels people love, they can buy their laundry detergent and other odds and ends there while they're at it. And thanks to Amazon Prime, whatever they order, they never have to wait longer than two days for it to arrive at their door. Sometimes the items even show up the same day.

I personally place more orders on Amazon than any other website, with products ranging from shower liners, to books, to cases of bottled water, to pairs of shoes (I got these loafers and these sandals a couple weeks ago).

Below, I put together a list of a few fashion pieces I'm currently eyeing on Amazon for the spring and summer.

You have to be willing to sort through all those pages to find the good stuff, but it's very worth it.

10 great jobs for people who love to travel

Do you work hard just to squeeze in a week of vacation once or twice each year?

That's better than nothing, although some might argue these rushed trips make you more of a tourist versus a traveler.

And either way, if you truly love to travel, a week or two each year might not be enough, right?

So if you find yourself always daydreaming about your next travel destination, you might want to consider getting a different job — one that lets you travel.

There are two types to consider:

Jobs that require travel as a normal part of the job description.

Seasonal jobs that allow you to live in different places for a few weeks or months at a time.

If you want a solid, predictable income, you'll probably want the first kind. If you want more variety, you budget well, and you like occasional long stretches between jobs, the second kind might be more appealing. We'll look at a few options from both categories in this list of jobs for travelers.

DON'T MISS: Flight attendants share 13 of their favorite travel hacks

1. Flight attendant

As a flight attendant, you get to travel the world or the country, depending on the airline. But how much time you'll actually have to explore those exotic destinations can vary. Talk to attendants at your target airlines to see where they typically go and how long they get to stay between flights.

If you have customer service experience, you might be hired with just a high school diploma or GED, but airlines prefer applicants with some college. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the median annual wage of flight attendants is $48,500.

Now for the bad news: Projections show slower-than-average job growth in the future.

2. Commercial airline pilot

If you like the idea of having two- or three-day stays in cities around the country or the world, but want a better paycheck than a flight attendant gets, learn to fly! Apply to airlines that have routes servicing the places you want to see.

This is the highest-paid position on our list: The median wage for airline pilots is $105,720. Future job growth for commercial pilots is expected to remain about average for years to come.

3. Geologist

As a geologist for an oil company, you usually travel extensively, going anywhere in the world where there might be oil. The same is true when you work for mining companies. You might be looking for gold in Brazil one month and copper in China the next month.

This job has the second-highest pay of those on our list. The BLS includes it in the category of "geoscientist" and says the median annual wage is $89,780. It also notes that employment growth for these positions is expected to be faster than average. Typically you'll need at least a bachelor's degree to be hired.

Marines Military US

The US military has over 1.3 million men and women on active duty, with more than 450,000 of them stationed abroad.

Many of these stationed service members perform training exercises and other duties at rather safe bases. Then there are others who are deployed to conflict zones like Syria or Iraq or potential "hotspots" like Somalia.

We pulled together the numbers and units from around the military to show you where service members are engaged.

SEE ALSO: After multiple deployments, US special forces may have 'mortgaged the future'

US troops are deployed in hotspots around the world, including places like Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

Here's a look at some of the most significant deployments for American soldiers.

In Afghanistan, approximately 9,800 US soldiers are taking part in Resolute Support, which aims to train, advise, and assist the Afghan security forces and institutions in their fight against the Taliban and other terrorist networks.

In Iraq, about 4,000 to 6,000 soldiers are taking part in Operation Inherent Resolve, which aims to eliminate the Islamic State. Only 5,262 US troops are authorized to be in Iraq, but the actual numbers have been larger for a while as commanders leverage what they call temporary — or "nonenduring"— assignments like the one involving the 82nd Airborne in Mosul.

In Syria, 500 US special forces and 250 Rangers are working in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. The Pentagon is also mulling sending an additional 1,000 US service members to the war-torn country.

In Kuwait, about 15,000 soldiers are spread among Camp Arifjan, Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base, and Ali Al Salem Air Base. About 3,800 soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team also deployed there late last year.

In Poland, about 3,500 soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division's 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team are stationed as part of Atlantic Resolve, which seeks to halt Russian aggression. These soldiers will help train local forces and provide security, eventually fanning out to other countries like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary to do the same.

In Ukraine, approximately 250 Oklahoma National Guardsmen are training Ukrainian forces in support of Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine.

In Somalia, about 40 US soldiers from the 101st Airborne division are assisting the central government in training its forces and fighting the terrorist group al-Shabab.

Of the US Navy's seven fleets, three are deployed in or near potential hotspots around the world.

"The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood

Here's what 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' looks like without visual effects

If you've seen "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," you know the sequel is filled with CGI, but what you may not realize is that the film made good use of its estimated $200 million budget with plenty of practical effects. The production crew built many of the sets you see in the final movie across 18 sound stages in Fayetteville, Georgia.

That Kurt Russell scene at the beginning of the movie? Not CGI. That's makeup. Ayesha's hangout for the Sovereign? Much of that was a practical set.

INSIDER gathered together behind-the-scenes images from photos and b-roll released by Disney and Marvel to show just how much of the film contained practical effects. We've already shown you what Groot and Rocket Raccoon look like without visual effects. Keep reading to see what even more of the film looks like behind the scenes.

An early scene in the film shows off the home of the Sovereign high priestess Ayesha.

As you can see, much of it was built for the film. Production designer Scott Chambliss put a spin on 1930's art deco to bring the lair to life.

"In the 1930s there's a great version of the Cleopatra story that Cecil B. DeMille made, so I looked at that," said Chambliss in the film's production notes. "So we started with a 1930s feeling to the design process and then just pushed it further and further into 1950s pulp and somehow landed somewhere in the 1970s in Las Vegas."

"Because the color palette is so limited with the gold, it also feels kind of comic book-like, which is something we were going for too," he added. "This perfect race that creates everything beautiful is really superficial and they take themselves really seriously, which in itself is ridiculous and beautiful.”

When Drax is cutting away from inside the monster at the film's start, he wasn't just pretending to slash away.

It seems like it's getting harder and harder to get a good night's sleep.

A myriad of distractions are in cahoots, keeping you from getting enough shut-eye.

We're supposed to get seven to nine hours of sleep, but many Americans don't hit that target every night.

Sleep can provide incredible health benefits — from helping us lose weight to improving our memories, and even making us happier.

So when you're lying in bed with one of these nine common sleep problems, here's what the science says you should do:

Sleeping on your stomach is probably not the best position if you have back pain, though a pillow under your legs can help. If you sleep on your side, try a pillow between your legs to relieve discomfort.

We tried Chipotle's first ever dessert — here's the verdict (CMG)

Chipotle Bunuelos 4

Chipotle has seen some rough times lately.

Between menu fatigue, the E. coli outbreak, and struggling with customer service, the chain is still nursing its bruises — sales turned positive in the first quarter of this year for the first time since Q4 2015.

Chipotle's hopes seem to reside in a new dessert addition: buñuelos.

The sugar and cinnamon-dusted fried tortilla bits are available as part of a limited test in New York City, and if they prove popular, a national rollout is possible.

But how are they, and are they worth ordering? We grabbed a bag and tried them to find out.

SEE ALSO: Shake Shack will soon serve breakfast at its original NYC location — here's what it's like

The buñuelos come in a small paper bag, and are accompanied by a caramel apple butter dipping sauce. If that sounds outrageously sweet and rich to you, you're right.

These are certainly not traditional buñuelos — tiny deep fried dough balls, typically flavored with anise, cinnamon, or similar spices. These are alt-buñuelos, made of fried squares of flour tortilla, drizzled with honey, and dusted in sugar and cinnamon.

They resemble Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, to be honest. Alone, they're flaky and dry — yet they make a strangely satisfying snack to graze on.
