Here are the 20 busiest airports in the world

Heathrow Airport British Airways

The Airports Council International (ACI) recently released its list of the busiest airports in the world. Once again, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) took the top spot, with more than 104 million passengers in 2016. According to the ACI, this represents an increase in traffic of over 2.6% over 2015. The trade group attributes Atlanta's success to its strategic location, where it is within a two-hour flight of 80% of the US population. In addition, the ACI credits the growth of ATL's largest tenant — Delta Air Lines — for the airport's continued expansion. Globally, the number of people traveling by air grew at a rate of 5.6% in 2016.

"The aviation industry is constantly changing, adapting and innovating," said ACI World director general, Angela Gittens, in a statement. "Global aviation markets remain dynamic in the face of economic uncertainty and geopolitical risks that persist on many fronts. Connecting people and places still remains paramount to the aviation sector in spite of the looming threat to market liberalization in major Western economies."

The trade group compiled its list using passenger traffic data from 1,179 airports around the world.

Here are the 20 busiest airports in the world based on total passenger traffic:

Five Guys Burgers 13

America has a new favorite burger chain.

Five Guys, the East Coast based burger chain famous for its simplicity and myriad toppings, claimed the top spot in the latest annual Harris Poll EquiTrend survey.

West Coast cult favorite In-N-Out held the title for the past two years, and came in second place this year.

We visited Five Guys to see if it's worth all the hype.

With over 1,200 locations nationwide and counting, the DC-metro-based Five Guys chain is a behemoth in the burger world.

The design of Five Guys restaurants is decidedly different than most better-burger chains. Gone are the warm wood accents, brushed nickel, and dim light.

Instead there are simple utilitarian tables and chairs surrounded by white tile walls with the chain's signature red-checker design. Five Guys feels like a clean, uniform, hole-in-the-wall deli — in the best way possible. There's no fuss.

chicago

Finding a great job that comes with a significant salary boost is one of the top reasons to move to a new city.

In its updated 2017 ranking of the best places to live in America, U.S. News & World Report gathered data on the 100 most populous US cities. Among the factors it considered were affordable housing, a low cost of living, good schools, quality healthcare, and access to well-paying jobs. You can read U.S. News' full methodology here.

Business Insider reranked these cities based on average annual salary to find the cities where residents earned more than $50,000 a year — on par with the national average. They don't all rank highly on U.S. News' overall list, given higher costs of living and other factors, so we've included each city's overall ranking for comparison's sake. For instance, Chicago ranks at No. 19 in terms of salary, but it came in only at No. 83 on the list of 100.

Of the 100 best places to live in the US, here are 22 where you can land the highest-paying jobs:

22. Santa Rosa, California

Population: 495,078

Average annual salary: $50,540

Overall rank on best places to live list: 52

Just 55 miles north of San Francisco sits Santa Rosa, one of Sonoma County's premier wine-country towns. According to US News' local expert, Santa Rosa is an originator of the farm-to-table movement and "a haven for bicyclists, who train on its rural western roads and visit en masse for two major cycling events: the Amgen Tour of California and the Levi's GranFondo."

The job market in Santa Rosa is powered by tourism: 9% of residents work in the industry, mainly at local farms, wineries, and brewpubs.

21. Albany, New York

Population: 877,846

Average annual salary: $50,880

Overall rank on best places to live list: 30

Despite the snowy winters, living in Albany comes with several advantages. Albany offers a cost of living lower than the national average and the cost of housing sits well below the rest of the US as a whole. In terms of jobs, the city's tech and healthcare industries are on the rise.

Albany's downtown is lined with art galleries, wine shops, and churches for visitors to peruse. In keeping with the city's cold climate, hockey is the sport of choice for residents.

20. Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina

Population: 1,750,865

Average annual salary: $51,150

Overall rank on best places to live list: 7

Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill are collectively known as the Triangle, an area anchored by its foundation in research and tech. The Triangle employs nearly 40,000 residents at companies like IBM, SAS Institute Inc., and Cisco Systems as well as surrounding colleges Duke, North Carolina State, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A strong job market coupled with a burgeoning microbrewery and dining scene draws 80 new residents every day, said a local expert.

Meet the candidates Trump is considering for FBI director

James Comey

After firing James Comey from his role as FBI Director, President Donald Trump told reporters he would fill the empty spot by the end of the week.

On Tuesday, May 9, Trump announced that Comey was terminated from his role as FBI director. As Comey had been in charge of overseeing the investigation into any potential ties between the administration and Russia, the abrupt move sparked outrage and comparisons to the events that led up to Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal.

Trump's team, and the president himself, offered conflicting explanations on why he let Comey go. On May 17, White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that Trump was meeting with four candidates for the role — Joe Lieberman, Andrew McCabe, Frank Keating and Richard McFeely.

The new director will have the power to pick up — or drop — the current Russia investigation. Here are some of the candidates that Trump could pick to fill the spot.

DON'T MISS: Former FBI agent: Here's who Trump should pick as the next FBI director

Former Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman

Joe Lieberman is a former Democratic senator who was Al Gore's choice for the Vice Presidential candidate in the 2000 election.

Even though Lieberman strongly supported the War in Iraq and fought to stop WikiLeaks from publishing material, he also championed the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy for LGBT soldiers in the military.

After switching to the Independent party in 2006, Lieberman endorsed John McCain in 2008 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Former FBI Official Richard McFeely

Prior to joining the FBI, Richard McFeely finished a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice and worked as an insurance adjuster in Pennsylvania.

Over more than two decades in the FBI, McFeely moved betwen different departments and eventually took on the overseeing position as an executive assistant director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch.

Former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating

Before serving as Oklahoma's governor in the late 1990s, Frank Keating spent many years working as a lawyer and served as associate attorney general under Ronald Reagan.

Despite being nominated to the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, Keating has largely stayed out of politics after reaching his term limit as governor in 2002.

We tried 4 major ice cream brands and figured out which one is the only one worth buying

Ice Cream Brand Comparison

The INSIDER Summary:

  • We tried four major ice cream brands to find out which one tastes best.
  • The brands we tried were: Haagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry's, Edy's, and Breyers.
  • We liked Haagen-Dazs the best because it was the most creamy and smooth, plus it had the truest and richest vanilla flavor.
  • Ben & Jerry's was a very close second, with Edy's coming in third due to the fact that its texture lacked smoothness.
  • We liked Breyers the least because it tasted bland compared to the other brands.

It's always a good idea to keep an emergency ice cream carton in the freezer for those times that you want a scoop — or a whole pint.

But which brand is best?

We set out to answer that question by trying four major brands commonly found at the grocery store:

  • Haagen-Dazs
  • Ben & Jerry's
  • Edy's (also known as Dreyer's)
  • Breyers

Keep scrolling to find out which was best.

For consistency's sake, we stuck with one basic flavor across all four brands: vanilla.

Breyers was the most expensive at $5.99 (but also the largest). Then came Häagen-Dazs at $5.49, then Ben and Jerry's at $4.47. The cheapest was Edy's at $3.99.

First up was Edy's slow churned classic vanilla.

'One entered the city like a god; one scuttles in now like a rat' — See beautiful pictures of New York's old Penn Station before it was torn down

Penn Station

It's hard to believe that Manhattan's Pennsylvania Station was once a masterpiece of pink granite, marble columns, and arched-glass windows.

In 1963, the above-ground portion of the station was demolished to make room for a massive sports arena, Madison Square Garden. Its reputation as an architectural masterpiece quickly faded. And most recently several incidents have boosted the station's reputation as a subterranean hellscape.

A train derailment in April that spawned mass cancellations outraged travelers. Later in the month, stampedes and false rumors of an active shooter rippled through Penn after police tased a man. Then, in early May, foul-smelling sewage water rained down on commuters from the ceiling.

Amtrak's long overdue rail repairs threaten to worsen a headache for the 650,000 people who travel through Penn Station each day

But things were not always this bad.

Take a look at these photos of the original Penn Station, one of the last structures of neo-classical architecture in New York City, before it was torn down.

SEE ALSO: 13 pictures reveal what it was like to ride the New York City subways in the 1970s

The original Pennsylvania Station stood from 1910 until its destruction in 1963.

The station was named for the now-defunct Pennsylvania Railroad, the company that built it. For that same reason, there are also Pennsylvania Stations in cities like Newark and Baltimore.

Construction on the Beaux-Arts-style marvel began in 1901 and took nine years to complete. It was designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, which also built Columbia University's campus.

volvo car running android os

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. — Android already runs on phones, tablets, and TVs.

Soon, it will be in your car too.

Google gave demos of two new Android-equipped automobiles at its I/O developer conference on Wednesday.

This is different than Android Auto, the software that allows you to plug your phone into a car and basically control your phone through the car's built-in display.

In this case, Google has actually integrated Android directly into the car, so that you can do everything from accessing car-friendly apps like Spotify and Google Maps to controlling car settings like air conditioning.

It's also an extension of Google Assistant, the voice-powered digital helper that's Google's answer to Apple Siri. With Assistant in your car, you can use your voice to do things like adjust your seat, pick music tracks, or make a phone call.

In some cases, this feels like overkill — Is it really easier to tell your car to lower the air conditioning than to just turn a knob? But for things like navigation, phone calls, and the like, having a virtual assistant as your copilot could be helpful.

We sat inside a new Volvo V90 running Android on its infotainment system. Here's a quick look at how it all works:

SEE ALSO: Here's everything Google announced at its big I/O conference

This is the Volvo V90. It'll be one of the first cars to come with Android. The car has built-in LTE wireless connectivity to power the Android system.

You can also run third-party apps like Spotify, Pandora, and podcast apps.

GOLDMAN SACHS: Traders fear these 15 nightmare stocks

The US stock market may be fresh off its most boring stretch in more than five decades, but there are still stocks that give investors nightmares.

In a client note on Wednesday, the derivatives team at Goldman Sachs identified 15 companies that traders see as having elevated downside risk over the next 12 months.

To single out the most-feared stocks in its coverage universe, Goldman looked at two measures:

  • 12-month implied volatility — The estimated price swing for a stock over the next year. Calculated using the price of options
  • 12-month skew — The degree to which investors are hedging against losses in a stock, relative to bets on gains. Calculated using the implied volatility spread between one-year put and call contracts

In order to qualify for Goldman's "most-feared" list, a stock had to have been in the 40th percentile or above for each of these measures over the past year. The firm then ranked those 15 companies in order of 12-month normalized skew percentile.

The following charts show just how much more worry has been baked into these 15 companies over the past year, based on the two measures listed above:

30 tips and tricks that could help you survive in 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds'

playerunknown's battlegrounds

It took me a few days to realize that the controls for "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" could be a little foreign to some new players out there (I'm just going to call it "PUBG" from here on out).

For the uninitiated, "PUBG" is a battle-royale-style game where 100 players fight against each other with a variety of weapons until only one is left standing. To make things interesting, the map shrinks over time to force players to converge.

Indeed, there are no training missions in "PUBG" to help you get used to the controls, or how to manage your inventory, or how to survive in the first place! It's all mostly left up to you to figure out. Thankfully for me, I got a bit of a head start, as the controls are pretty similar to another game I've spent hours on called "DayZ."

It's entirely possible that you might already know the majority of these tips, as many of them are fairly basic. Hopefully there are a few new ones to add your "PUBG" survival handbook.

Check it out:

The best charcoal grills you can buy

Insider Picks_Buying guides_02 4x3

The Insider Pick:

  • Charcoal grills sear meat and veggies to perfection and fill food with that perfect smokey flavor. Of all the grills we researched, the Weber Original Kettle 22-inch grill stands out because of its classic, successful design and excellent price point.

When purchasing a high-tech device like a smartphone or DSLR camera, you understand the importance of picking out and comparing the slight nuances between these devices. After all, it’s those minuscule differences that set apart these complex devices.

When purchasing a low-tech device like a charcoal grill, though, you may be tempted to just pick any model. After all, even the best charcoal grills don’t have computer chips or touchscreens. Heck, cavemen invented grilling meat over coals and fire a few hundred thousand years ago. We can duplicate that process with just any old grill, right?

Sure, any grill will heat meat, but there are significant differences between charcoal grills that clearly set them apart from each other. Your grill plays a key role in just how you can cook your meat and vegetables. Precise grilling requires the right grill or your expensive steaks will just end up looking like they were grilled by a caveman.

How charcoal grills work

A charcoal grill is a metal/ceramic container that can hold burning charcoal in the bottom. You’ll place the food you want cooked on a metal grate in the center of the container, above the charcoal. This is the cooking surface. Closing the metal container’s lid when cooking will hold in the heat. The direct heat from the charcoal sears the bottom of the food, while the indirect heat circulating throughout the grill cooks the food. Leave the lid off the grill if you only want to use direct heat.

When it comes to techniques for lighting charcoal and for understanding how charcoal works, Kingsford is the expert. Charcoal is a great fuel for grilling because it burns hot for searing, but it also burns for a long time, creating plenty of indirect heat for slow cooking. You can add smoking flavors with charcoal grilling, too.

Charcoal grills differ from propane or gas grills in that charcoal doesn’t produce a continuous flame. Cooking on a propane grill involves an actual, continuous flame. Charcoal leaves a gray ash after the flame consumes it, while a propane grill leaves no ash.

Key differences in charcoal grills

Here are some of the biggest differences to consider when shopping for the best charcoal grills, as gleaned from The Spruce, Amazing Ribs, and BBQ Guys.

  • Grilling versus smoking: Some charcoal grills can double as smokers, meaning they cook meat very slowly, using more indirect heat than direct heat. You’ll need a charcoal grill with an especially large interior to smoke meat.
  • Large versus small: A large charcoal grill will offer a big cooking surface, making it good for someone who wants to cook for several people at once. If you want more of a portable grill to take to tailgates or camping, though, you’ll have to sacrifice cooking surface for portability.
  • Using indirect grilling: If you are looking to cook meat slowly without searing, but you don’t have the time for smoking, indirect grilling is the technique to use. You’ll place the lit charcoal on one side of the charcoal grill and the meat on the opposite side. You need a large charcoal grill to make use of this method, though.
  • Controlling cooking temperatures: Achieving precise temperatures with a charcoal grill is difficult. However, if you want a bit more control over the temperature inside the charcoal grill, the unit should have air vents on both the top and bottom. Additionally, you should be able to adjust the height of the grate over the charcoal.
  • Head room:. If you plan to cook poultry or beef roasts — any food with some height to it — make sure the charcoal grill is tall enough to accommodate the food with the lid attached.

To make the most of your charcoal grill, we at Business Insider have collected a list of helpful, cheap grilling accessories. Additionally, trying different cooking techniques is part of the enjoyment of grilling, so we have collected some great grilling ideas.

Although the Weber Original Kettle 22-Inch is our top charcoal grill pick, for various reasons laid out in the slides below, you should also consider the Char-Griller Akorn Kamado Kooker, Broil King Keg 5000, Lodge Pre-Seasoned Sportsman, and the Char-Broil American Gourmet 800 Series.

The best grill overall

Why you'll love it: Weber's Original Kettle Grill has a tried and true design that grills meat and vegetables perfectly, and it costs less than $100.

We love the round design of the Weber Original Kettle 22-inch charcoal grill… and so did our parents and grandparents. Why? Because this design has been around for decades with no significant changes. When you think of a charcoal grill, the Weber Original is almost certainly the one you picture in your head.

As The Spruce discusses in its review of the Weber Original Kettle, the circular shape works so well because it creates a convection heating system. The round kettle also can grill with direct heat and smoke vegetables or meat, although larger grills tend to perform better when smoking than this Weber model. The grill is available in three sizes  — 18, 22, and 26 inches in diameter — so you can pick the perfect size for your needs. The 22-inch model offers 363 square inches of grilling space, which is ideal.

The Weber Original Kettle is easy to move from location to location, as it has two wheels and one peg leg in its tripod design. However, this unit is too large to be considered a portable charcoal grill.

The Charcoal Grill World review says the Weber Original is easy to clean, thanks to its three blade ash sweeper and its removable ash catcher. We can attest to that, having used the Weber Original Kettle grill in the courtyard of our apartment building. It's easy to pop out the ash catcher and safely dispose of the ashes without creating a huge mess.

Finally, this is the best overall charcoal grill because of its reasonable price. Customer reviewers on Amazon appreciate the value the Weber Original provides, while also offering a variety of grilling options.

Pros: Classic round design works great for distributing heat, strong price point, easy to clean ash, works well for all types of grilling, large grilling space, optional rotisserie kit available

Cons: Not meant as a portable grill, other units are better at smoking

The best charcoal grill with a smoker

Why you'll love it: The Char-Griller Akorn Kamado grill features a teardrop design, which allows it to double as an effective smoker.

The Char-Griller Akorn Kamado Kooker charcoal grill is definitely a head turner. It looks a bit like an upside down teardrop or, if you want to relive your college days, it looks a bit like a beer keg.

Char-Griller based this grill’s design on the Kamado cooking technique, which originated in Japan roughly 3,000 years ago. According to the Busted Wallet review, the Char-Griller Akorn Kamado grill’s design allows it to work equally well as both a smoker and direct heat grill. The Amazing Ribs review points out the good value and performance level of this unit, although its narrow bottom doesn’t allow for using the indirect grilling technique.

The Char-Griller Kamado grill has 314 square inches of primary cooking space with another 133 square inches on a warming rack (447 square inches of cooking space in total), so this charcoal grill is a nice option for those who need to grill a lot of meat for parties. Its tripod design has two wheels with a third peg leg for stability.

One of the best aspects of this Char-Griller unit is its ability to retain heat for a long time, as explained in an Amazon customer review. However, some customers on Amazon have questioned the quality of the construction of the Akorn Kamado grill.

Pros: Versatile grill for both smoking and grilling, cool looking design, retains heat over the long term, large cooking space, reasonable price point versus similarly designed grills

Cons: Long-term construction is questionable, doesn’t work for indirect grilling

The best high-end charcoal grill

Why you'll love it: The top-notch construction of the impressive Broil King Keg 5000 means it’s a good investment that’ll last many years.

As we mentioned with the Akorn Kamado Kooker grill, the keg-shaped design for a grilling device has been a popular option for centuries, offering the ability to smoke meat, as well as cook it over direct heat. This design shape has made its way to the top of the list of modern charcoal grills, and the best high-end unit we’ve found is the Broil King Keg 5000 charcoal grill.

As both The Spruce and Just Luxe discuss in their reviews, the construction of the Keg 5000 is impressive, offering double-walled steel with an insulation layer in between. This design keeps the heat inside the grill more efficiently than other designs, while allowing the exterior of the unit to remain cool to the touch. Just Luxe also mentioned the smart ash cleanup tray included with the Broil King Keg 5000.

Even though the Keg 5000 has a price point that’s near the top of the charcoal grill market, an Amazon customer review says this unit is a good value versus some other keg-shaped designs.

We appreciate the total of 480 square inches of cooking surface available with the Broil King Keg 5000. Some 280 square inches are in the primary cooking grate and 200 square inches are in the secondary cooking grate. This Broil King model’s base is sturdy with two wheels on one side and a two-legged base on the other side. With a little reconfiguring, you can mount this unit to your vehicle’s trailer hitch and tow it anywhere.

Broil King also offers a smaller version of this unit, the Keg 2000, for a lower price. The primary difference is that the Keg 2000 doesn’t offer the secondary cooking grate.

Pros: Holds heat inside efficiently, insulation keeps the exterior cool to the touch, uses less charcoal than other grills because of efficient design, mounts to a trailer hitch for towing, large grilling surface

Cons: High price point, maintaining consistent smoking temperature can be tricky

Some people can't stand the thought of spending their work days in a cubicle, behind a computer screen, chained to their swivel chair — but others really don't mind working a desk job.

If you identify with the latter group, you've probably been warned of all the dangers of sitting for eight hours a day. But here's some good news: There are lots of high-paying jobs for people who prefer not to be on their feet.

We combed through the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), a US Department of Labor database that compiles detailed information on hundreds of jobs, and looked through salary data on the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website to find the highest-paying professions where workers typically spend the majority of their day at a desk.

O*NET rates how much time each job requires sitting on a scale from zero to 100, where a higher rating signals you'd be sitting almost continually throughout the workday.

Here are 16 jobs that pay more than $100,000 a year  and earned a sitting score of 75 or higher:

With an estimated net worth of over $16 billion, Red Bull cofounder and CEO Dietrich Mateschitz is the wealthiest person in Austria.

After essentially creating the market for energy drinks with the invention of Red Bull in 1987, Mateschitz and cofounder Thai businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya came up with unique ways to promote the brand, like buying a Formula One racing team and partnering with Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner to do a 120,000-foot jump in 2012. According to Forbes, more than six billion cans of Red Bull were sold in 2016.

The reclusive 72-year-old is rarely seen in the spotlight, but in a candid interview with Austrian paper "Kleine Zeitung" last month, Mateschitz shared his opinion of President Trump and criticized the Austrian government for allowing an influx of refugees into the country. He defended the American president, saying, "I don't think he's as much of an idiot as he's portrayed to be."

Mateschitz also revealed his plan to launch a German-language news site called "Nä her an die Wahrheit," which translates to "Closer to the Truth."An article in the German newspaper Handelsblatt compared the venture to Breitbart.

Below, take a look at how Mateschitz has grown Red Bull into a leading international brand that stretches across platforms.

Mateschitz studied marketing at the University of Commerce in Vienna. He was in school for 10 years and graduated at 28. After school, Mateschitz served as the international marketing director for Blendax, where he worked on promoting toiletry products.

It was while he was traveling in Thailand for his job at Blendax that Mateschitz was introduced to a syrupy tonic drink that, according to Forbes, helped cure his jet lag.

Mateschitz met Chaleo Yoovidhya, a Thai man who owned his own tonic drink company. He convinced Yoovidhya to bring the drink to Europe, and Mateschitz quit his job. Each of the men invested $500,000 in the venture.
