14 amazing Starbucks drinks from around the world that you can't get in the US

Starbucks International

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Starbucks releases unique beverages for different markets around the world, and we're envious.
  • From the beautiful matcha espresso fusion drink available only in Asia, to the cherry pie Frappuccino released in Japan, we wish Starbucks would sell these stateside.

American Starbucks stores certainly don't lack creativity when it comes to special beverages. Stateside, we have the viral and ridiculously colorful unicorn Frappuccino, and of course, the annual pumpkin spice latte craze.

But some of the drinks available only overseas have us creating international bucket lists.

INSIDER rounded up some of the coolest, strangest and most delicious-sounding Starbucks beverages abroad (yes, there is a Starbucks in practically every major city in the world).

From the Churro Frappuccino in Latin America, to the matcha espresso fusion drink in Asia, these Starbucks drinks are like nothing we've ever seen before.

Sakura blossom cream latte — Japan

Come springtime, Japan celebrates Sakura Matsuri, or the cherry blossom festival. It's no surprise that Starbucks creates limited-edition pink drinks and food during that time, like this cream beverage blended with a sauce made from cherry petals, condensed milk, and white bean paste.

Caramel Coffee Jelly Frappuccino — UK

This drink that's reminiscent of bubble tea is made with a coffee jelly base, then topped with a caramel Frappuccino blended with milk, coffee, and ice, and finished with a whipped cream cloud.

Matcha espresso infusion drink — Asia

This matcha tea/coffee hybrid combines Starbucks' espresso layered with milk and green matcha powder. The colorful effect alone is enough to want one.

Nowhere near Asia? Try this copycat recipe here.

It only took 10 days from the time Anthony Scaramucci was announced as the new White House communications director for news to break that he was leaving the role.

On Friday, July 21, President Donald Trump offered Scaramucci the job. And on Monday, July 31, the White House announced that Scaramucci was leaving at new chief of staff John Kelly's request.

The brief tenure was immediately mocked on Twitter. Here's a roundup of the best "Mooch" memes:

  • Former royal chef Darren McGrady revealed the food that Queen Elizabeth II won't eat.
  • When she's eating by herself, the queen avoids starches.
  • From potatoes to out-of-season fruit, these are the 9 foods Queen Elizabeth II won't eat.

When she’s eating lunch alone, Queen Elizabeth II won’t let herself eat starches, formal Royal chef Darren McGrady tells RecipesPlus. That means no pasta for Her Majesty. Instead, she chows down on a big salad, or grilled fish or chicken with two veggies on the side. If you're showing signs of eating too many carbs, you might want to follow her lead.

The Queen doesn’t just resist pasta and bread—she also turns down potatoes because of their starch factor. But don't follow suit just yet; learn why potatoes and other foods don't deserve their bad reputation.

Think a rare steak makes you look sophisticated? The Queen would dare to disagree. Her Highness prefers her meat well done, says McGrady. If Her Majesty is grossed out by the "bloody" look, she should learn what that red juice in steak really is.

Wagyumafia

A beef-cutlet sandwich normally costs you about $5 in Japan.

Tokyo restaurant Wagyumafia, however, is luring affluent tourists from all over the world with a $180 sandwich.

Next year, Hisato Hamada and fellow founder Takafumi Horie will open an outpost in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood.

"Japanese tend to undersell valuable products,” Hamada said.

The restaurant focuses on serving cutlets of wagyu, the world’s most expensive beef.

The editors of Business Insider Japan visited the Tokyo location to try out the sandwich.

Here’s what it was like.

SEE ALSO: Forget moving to Canada — it just got easier to become a permanent resident of Japan

Wagyumafia is located in Nakageguro, Tokyo, a residential neighborhood popular with foreigners and celebrities.

The small but cozy joint sits along the Meguro River, which attracts people in the spring for Hanami, the cherry blossom festival.

The owner Kitagawa (right) and chef Yasuhiro Inoue (left) welcomed us.

In Kitagawa's hands is a piece of Kobe beef. The shop has seven sandwich options ranging from a reasonable $8 up to the fanciest offering for $180.

The simplistic joint is covered with white tiles and has a single standing table.

According to Kitagawa, the majority of the customers are travellers from abroad, mostly from Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Denmark and the U.S. They usually spend about 20-30 minutes and venture out for other Japanese food.

10 DAYS: Anthony Scaramucci's wild ride in the Trump administration

Only 10 days after he was hired as President Donald Trump's communications director, Anthony Scaramucci is unexpectedly out of a job.

Even though he was eventually let go at the urging of chief of staff John Kelly, the former communications director managed to cause quite a stir in his brief time at the White House  — whether through his expletive-laden rant against White House "leakers" or his $180 million conflict of interest with a company that has ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Here is how "The Mooch" spent his short-lived but extremely colorful time as Trump's chief spokesperson.

SEE ALSO: Trump ousts Anthony Scaramucci as communications director at new chief of staff's request

DAY 1: Scaramucci gets the job

On July 21, Trump announced that Scaramucci would be replacing ousted Sean Spicer as the White House's official communications director. The choice to go with a bombastic Wall Street financier sent ripples of shock and doubt throughout political circles. Scaramucci, meanwhile, held an immediate press conference in which he promised to be transparent and work well with reporters.

Day 2: Fighting 'media bias'

One day after he was hired, Scaramucci resorted to some of the same tactics as his predecessor Spicer — he gave an interview in which he praised Breitbart for its Trump coverage and slammed other outlets for their "media bias."

Day 3: Tweet purge

Immediately after getting hired, Scaramucci deleted many of his old tweets. Not long after, he justified the decision by saying things he wrote and thought before he became communications director were "a distraction" from his current role promoting Trump's agenda.

The 10 best cheeses to buy at Trader Joe's

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Trader Joe's has a huge selection of high quality cheeses — and these 10 are the best of the best.
  • The Unexpected Cheddar Cheese and Pesto Gouda Cheese are two of the must-trys.
  • There's even a delicious Cookie Butter flavored cream cheese.

After spending a year in Madison as a Freshman at UW, I have come to really appreciate cheese. There are all different types and often the cheese is what makes a dish come alive. The best cheese though, in my opinion, comes from Trader Joe's. They have a huge selection of high quality cheeses, from pesto gouda to blackberry goat cheese.

With so much variety, it's hard to decide what cheeses to try, but I'm here to give you the 10 cheeses from Trader Joe's that you need to try.

1. Unexpected Cheddar Cheese

Width: 800px

Unexpected Cheddar Cheese is one of TJ's most famous products. The cheese lives up to the name with the hints of parmesan, which provide an unexpected yet sophisticated flavor to this cheese. Try it on sandwiches, eggs, pasta, or just on its own.

2. Pesto Gouda Cheese

Width: 800px

This cheese may be green, but it's not at all moldy. The green comes from rich basil pesto. The strong flavor of the pesto makes this cheese a great snack with light crackers or even a meal with toasted bread.

3. Sliced Halloumi

Width: 800px

Halloumi, aka "grilling cheese" has a super high melting point, so you can grill it up and it will still be in one piece. Halloumi is a soft curd-like cheese free of rennet and safe for vegetarians who do not eat rennet. The "grilled cheese" pairs wonderfully with watermelon and balsamic.

15 actors who actually hate being famous

$

johnny depp

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Many people aspire to be a beloved and extremely famous actor.
  • But, there are some celebirites that actually hate being famous.
  • Many actors grow tired of the lack of privacy and paparazzi.

For most actors, being famous is the goal. The dream of becoming a world renowned, incredibly beloved, and extremely famous actor is exactly what so many aspire to be. Yet, there are some actors out there who don’t want the fame at all.

While the idea of fame might have seemed great in the beginning, many actors grow tired of being famous. Whether it be due to the paparazzi, the lack of privacy, or people not being able to tell the difference between an actor and a character, being famous isn’t always as great as it seems.

It happens all the time for actors who are known for a specific role, have been around for awhile, or who have received some severely bad backlash over the years. Either way, there are plenty of well-known actors out there who want to avoid the celebrity title as much as possible.

It might be easy to disregard the actors who say that they don’t like the fame, but just because it seems like someone has everything, doesn’t mean that they’re happy with their life. Actors are human too.

With all that being said, here are the 15 actors who hate being famous.

15. Chris Evans

Known for being Mr. Captain America himself, Chris Evans doesn’t really see himself being in front of the camera for that much longer. Because of his hatred for being famous, Evans has claimed that he will forever quit acting once his Marvel contract is up.

When Chris Evans was first starting out, he was excited to be in the spotlight. As time went on, though, he found it completely exhausting.

While Evans loves playing Captain America and being part of The Avengers, he claims that it has taken too much out of him.

In the future, he tells fans to expect to see much less of him in front of the camera. Instead, Evans wants to become a director and leave acting behind once he’s done portraying America’s superhero.

14. Harrison Ford

It might be difficult to imagine Harrison Ford disliking his fame. For someone who won’t stop acting, it doesn’t quite make sense. However, that’s the thing: the desire to act and the desire to be famous are two completely different things.

Ford is best known for his roles in both the "Star Wars" franchise as well as the "Indiana Jones" franchise. Besides that, he’s been in plenty of movies– from comedies to dramas.

Unfortunately, Ford hates being famous now. He claims that being a famous actor cost him his privacy. He also says that he feels like his fame is a burden on those whom he loves.

There’s nothing he can do about it now, though. If Harrison Ford stopped acting, everyone would still recognize. That’s what forty-something years in the acting business gets you.

13. Daniel Craig

Now that he’s claimed that he’s coming back for the next "James Bond" film– "Bond 25" it might come as a shock that Daniel Craig hates being famous.

Having been part of the beloved "James Bond" franchise, as well as having roles in movies such as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "Cowboys & Aliens," Daniel Craig is a seasoned pro.

Sadly, after his first "James Bond" film, Craig said he started feeling the pressure that fame can sometimes bring.

Craig went from being an in-demand actor to being the face of one of the world’s most favorite franchise films.

He claims that his life has changed a lot, and he can never go back to how things used to be. The invasion of privacy has now become too much for him.

13 'Game of Thrones' actors whose real-life accents sound nothing like their characters on the show

Jon Snow

"Game of Thrones" is a huge, ambitious show. It's clear how much work goes into crafting each of the hour-long episodes. From creating hyper-realistic dragons, to casting hundreds of extras for giant battles, the show spares no expense.

For many fans, though, there's one detail of the show where the work that goes into it may go unnoticed: accents.

Over the past six-plus seasons, "Game of Thrones" has introduced fans to close to 200 characters. Nearly all of them speak with some variation of an English or Scottish accent, though there are a few exceptions. However, few actors are using their natural voices, and are instead doing an accent that fits where in Westeros their character is from.

Here are 13 "Game of Thrones" characters who sound nothing like the actors who portray them:

Oberyn Martell

Though he was born in Chile, Pedro Pascal was raised in the Southern California and Texas, and sounds nothing like his onscreen persona.

Ferrari's greatest rival has built one of the best cars in the world

McLaren 720S Benjamin Zhang

McLaren makes supercars. Darn good ones at that.

After dipping its toes in the supercar game for a couple of decades, the Woking, England-based outfit decided to dive in head-first seven years ago with the creation of a dedicated road car division — McLaren Automotive.

In 2011, the nascent supercar maker rolled out their first offering — the MP4-12C. The MP4 dash 12C was a car of immense capability — packed to the gills with the wisdom and technology the company's Formula One team had accrued over half a century at the pinnacle of motorsports.

Sadly, in spite of its 592 horsepower turbocharged V8 engine, advanced carbon construction, and the wind-tunnel-sculpted body, critics found the car to be soulless.  It's a damning accusation for a new player in the supercar game. After all, this is a business built on convincing well-to-do customers to part with obscene sums of money. And the most effective tool for a supercar salesman is to play upon passion, emotion, and sex appeal.

Since then, McLaren has worked tirelessly to rectify the shortcomings of the 12C. In 2014, it was redesigned to create the 650S that would form the company's "Super Series"— the heart of its road car business.  One year later, the all-conquering 675LT raised the bar even further. Every new car following their initial effort has been made louder, more intense, and more visceral in its execution.

Unfortunately for McLaren, this hasn't been enough to quiet many of the critics who feel the company's cars are still too cold and clinical when compared to its warm-blooded Italian counterparts.

All of this brings us to McLaren's latest offering — The 720S. It's the first vehicle to emerge from the company's second generation Super Series. But a quick conversation with McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt and it becomes abundantly clear that the company believes the 720S's design, technology, and performance is so much more.

However, the question I wanted answering was whether the 720S could finally put an end to the complaints about McLaren's decided lack of emotion.

In May, Business Insider traveled to Italy to attend the launch of the 720S. As part of the experience, McLaren allowed us to unleash the car around the fearsome corners of the Autodromo Vallelunga.

Here's how it went.

A flash drive

The cloud is getting more reliable, but using it to move large files around still requires a very fast internet connection, so it still pays to keep a flash drive handy. This drive from SanDisk should be perfect for most day-to-day tasks.

It's got 64GB of storage — enough to hold thousands of pictures, songs, and documents, or hours of HD footage. It's also capable of transferring data at USB 3.0 speeds, so getting stuff onto and off of the drive will be snappier than using older flash drives.

SanDisk Ultra CZ48 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive, $19.88, available at Amazon

An external hard drive

Flash drives are great for smaller files, but it pays to have a local backup. Should anything happen to your computer's internal hard drive, it's nice to know that your data is safe.

At 500GB, this should be more than enough to back up the average person's photos, documents, music, and movies.

A lock port

If you've got tech you want to stay put, then protect it! Kensington lock ports are still available on a wide variety of laptops and are definitely a theft-deterrent.

iPhone 8 concept

Apple is widely expected to launch new iPhones in September.

There's been a ton of speculation and reports about the upcoming iPhone, including that it'll be redesigned.

The pressure is on Apple, too. It's the 10th anniversary of the first iPhone, launched in 2007, and the company is expected to have some big plans to mark the occasion.

Wall Street analysts hope the new iPhone drives a "supercycle" of sales and propels Apple to become the first trillion-dollar publicly traded company.

Apple rarely comments on upcoming products, but some code from Apple suggests some of the rumors may be accurate.

Here's what you need to know about the upcoming iPhone:

SEE ALSO: 'Severe supply shortages': The iPhone 8 sounds like it will be hard to find

Apple is expected to launch three iPhones: one that's redesigned, and two updates to the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Analysts have suggested several names for the redesigned iPhone, including "iPhone Pro,""iPhone Edition,""OLED iPhone," and "iPhone 8," which we're calling it. This report will focus entirely on the iPhone 8.

The redesigned iPhone is the model that has received the most attention. It's expected to have an edge-to-edge, curved screen with much smaller bezels than the current iPhone 7. The screen uses a newer kind of display technology called OLED that promises to use less power and provide darker blacks.

This rendering of what the iPhone is expected to look like comes from designer Martin Hajek, who posts the files used to make his renders online.

Apple seemingly confirmed the iPhone 8 redesign with significantly smaller bezels in this image included in HomePod firmware that Apple released. The codename for this image? D22.

The 8 biggest questions we have after this week's 'Game of Thrones'

$

Game of Thrones the Queen's Justice season 7

Warning: Spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season seven episode three, "The Queen's Justice." If you aren't caught up on the series, read at your own risk.

This week's episode of "Game of Thrones" provided a lot more action than the first two episodes of the season. It also had a ton of twists.

Instead of protecting Casterly Rock, Jaime Lannister attacks and takes Highgarden. And instead of brutally killing Ellaria Sand via The Mountain, Cersei Lannister leaves her to rot in the dungeon for the rest of her days, but not before watching her daughter Tyene die slowly of poison.

Things are looking good for Cersei this week.

She got revenge on one of her worst enemies. She outwitted her brother Tyrion in battle strategy. She seems to have the Iron Bank of Braavos on her side. And she eliminated the Tyrell and Martell bloodlines for good — even the bastard Sand Snakes — and in doing so took out two great houses backing her greatest enemy, Daenerys Targaryen.

Her moves were clever, but based on what we saw in "The Queen's Justice," her days could be numbered.

Here are all the questions we have after this week's episode of "Game of Thrones":

SEE ALSO: These 10 'Game of Thrones' characters disappeared, but could come back in a major way this season

What's happening to Yara Greyjoy? And where is Theon headed?

We see Euron Greyjoy bring Yara to the Red Keep along with Ellaria and Tyene, but we don't see what happens to her after the walk through King's Landing. Is she Cersei's prisoner? Wherever she is, she's lucky she doesn't have to watch Tyene die and rot, but Cersei will probably hold her as a hostage for now, or maybe let Euron keep her for himself.

We get a brief glimpse of Theon Greyjoy being saved by fellow Ironborn who appear to be on his side of the war. They don't greet him warmly, but chances are he's either headed back to Dragonstone or continuing the mission to Dorne to recruit some allies who might be upset that Cersei killed their people.

Will the Iron Bank support Cersei, who has for years ignored the crown's debt to it?

Cersei's meeting with the Iron Bank in "The Queen's Justice" goes unusually well for her, considering the crown has ignored its debt, most of which Littlefinger created as master of coin. In season four, Tywin Lannister tells Cersei that one of the reasons he agreed to ally with House Tyrell was its wealth — it could help pay the bank back.

In season three, when Tyrion Lannister discovers the debt Littlefinger created, he says: "If we fail to repay these loans, the bank will fund our enemies. One way or another, they always get their gold back."

Cersei sounds like she has a plan to pay the Iron Bank, perhaps stealing money from Highgarden. But Daenerys could get in her way. And even if Daenerys doesn't, the Iron Bank could stick it to Cersei by using the money she paid them back to support her enemies.

Will Euron turn on Cersei?

It has already been well established that Euron and Cersei can't be trusted, by anyone or each other. In "The Queen's Justice," Cersei tells Euron that his marriage proposal won't be accepted until the war is over, even after he delivered the gift of revenge to her doorstep. Rude, Cersei!

Despite Cersei's elongation of their engagement, Euron brings his ships to Casterly Rock — at what appears to be the speed of light — and destroys the Unsullied's ships, so they don't have an easy way of getting back to Dragonstone. But without a confirmed marriage to Cersei, nothing is stopping Euron from either taking the Iron Throne for himself or abandoning her cause if things don't go her way.

The Aston Martin DB11 is $250,000 worth of power, beauty, and soul

Aston Martin DB11 2

Power. Beauty. Soul. For many years, Aston Martin proudly displayed these three words on the instrument panels of its cars right before they roared to life. For me, these are the three words that sum up everything Aston Martin stands for. Together, they form the ethos of a brand so effortlessly cool one wonders if it's even possible for Aston to build an ugly car.

At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin gave its adoring fans the next object of their affection with the unveiling of the DB11.

For Aston Martin, the DB11 is one of the most important cars in company history and certainly the most important since its separation from Ford a decade ago. As storied as Aston Martin the brand may be, Aston Martin the business has had more than its fair share of run-ins with financial ruin in its history. The DB11 has to keep the company in the black for the foreseeable future.

However, the sleek luxury grand tourer will have the unenviable task of replacing the company's beloved, but aging DB9.

Like the super spy with whom Aston is so inexorably linked, finding the perfect successor is paramount. Get it wrong and hundreds of millions of dollars go down the drain. But, get it right and a bountiful decade awaits.

Recently, Aston Martin let Business Insider borrow a DB11 coupe in Magnetic Silver. The 2017 Aston Martin DB11 starts at $230,345 while our test car came to $254,084 after a few options.

For more than a decade, the stunning DB9 carried on Aston Martin's tradition as the purveyor fine grand touring motors. However, by 2016, even its captivating beauty couldn't hide the fact that it was time to move on.

If you find yourself rushed in the morning, the first thing that many of us put on the chopping block to save time is breakfast.

If it’s finding matching socks or flipping pancakes, you’re probably going to opt for the basic option of simply looking presentable.

If that’s the case, you might find yourself shelling out money at a bagel shop near work or skipping the meal altogether and splurging on lunch because you find that you’re horribly hungry by the time 1 p.m. rolls around.

But even more important than the financial advantages to making breakfast, it’s also an advantage to your work performance. A solid meal in the morning means you can operate at a higher level at work and spare more energy and attention on others; it probably makes you a more pleasant person to be around, too. Your first meal sets the tone for the rest of the day, so if you start out making good decisions for your body, mind, and wallet, then you’re less likely to ditch those guiding principles later in the day.

Even if you’re up before the sun, everyone's time is valuable. If making breakfast can take you five minutes rather than 15, odds are that you want the former.

These 11 breakfast gadgets make having breakfast before work a faster, more efficient prospect, so you’re more likely to do it.

A double omelet maker

The Holstein Housewares double omelet maker will make you two omelets for less energy than it takes you to make one on your own.

If you're cooking for two and the other person doesn't want the exact same breakfast as you, you can easily make two different dishes at the same time. The indicator light will let you know when it's on, preheated, and ready to cook.

It's non-stick coated, so you won't have a hard time cleaning either.

A rapid egg cooker

Whether you prefer your eggs hard or soft boiled, the Dash cooker makes cooking them easy. Once you've filled the base of the cooker with water — it comes with a measuring cup that tells you how much water you'll need for every type of egg — you can place up to six eggs on the top tray.

Dash also includes two additional trays: one for poached eggs, and another for making omelettes.

Egg gadgets don't normally galvanize a cult reaction in people, but this is one beloved kitchen tool.

Dash Go Rapid Egg Cooker, $12.50 - $24.95, available at Amazon and Crate & Barrel

A microwavable bacon maker

Love bacon but hate how long it takes to make? This rack will cook bacon in minutes and also separate the meat from the fat. As the meat cooks, the fat will roll off and collect in the easy bottom tray, so you can transfer to a plate the bacon you want to eat in the condition that you want to eat it.

It should take a minute per slice and reduce fat up to 35%, which is a persuasive point for why it's okay to eat bacon in the morning, after all.

Sand Game of Thrones the queen's justiceWarning: Spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season seven. If you aren't caught up with the series, read at your own risk.

Season seven of "Game of Thrones" is only three episodes in, but it has already proven to be one of the most brutal yet. There's already been some major battles and major deaths, including one that made dying look cool.

For now, most of the dead folks on this list died at the hands of Cersei or Euron, but we're hoping that things start getting worse for them very soon.

So here is your guide to who died on "Game of Thrones" so far this season:

SEE ALSO: The 8 biggest questions we have after this week's 'Game of Thrones'

Obara Sand

Time of death: Episode two, "Stormborn."

Cause of death: In his attack on Yara's fleet, Euron Greyjoy stabs the daughter of Oberyn Martell in the gut with a spear. By the end of the battle, her body is hanging from the ship, so she's definitely dead.

Nymeria Sand

Time of death: Episode two, "Stormborn."

Cause of death: In Euron's attack, he strangles Nymeria, who is a daughter of Oberyn (and not Arya Stark's direwolf). At the end of the battle, her body is hanging from the ship, so she's also definitely dead.

Tyene Sand

Time of death: Episode three, "The Queen's Justice."

Cause of death: Cersei locks Ellaria up in a dungeon with her daughter, Tyene, who she poisons the same way Ellaria poisoned Myrcella: with a kiss and a poison called "The Long Farewell." So Ellaria has to watch her own daughter die a brutal death, and there's nothing she can do about it.

THAILAND

Thailand is easily one of the most affordable destinations. No matter where you are in the country  Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket  it's possible to eat and sleep on a shoestring budget.

"Delicious meals can be bought on the street for as little as 10 baht (29 cents) for a skewer of chicken or 60 baht ($1.75) for a heaping plate of fresh crab fried rice," says Kyle Stewart, travel editor for the blog Live and Let's Fly.

"Youth hostels are available from just $2 a night and there are dozens and dozens of options." Stewart suggests the Barn and Bed Hostel in Bangkok, which is about $13 per night.

VIETNAM

This is another stunning destination that won't bankrupt you. From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, there are fabulous cheap eats and remarkably affordable places to sleep in Vietnam.

"Just last week I purchased a bánh mì omelet sandwich for breakfast made on the street outside the opera for 97 cents," says Stewart. "Bowls of pho noodle soup with chicken, beef, or pork are widely available for just $2."

Hostels, meanwhile, start at around $3 per night. The Hanoi Buddy Inn & Travel, which charges $7 per night, received an "excellent" rating from users on Hotels.com.

INDONESIA

A sprawling nation made up of thousands of islands, Indonesia is yet another destination where it's possible to travel for very little.

Rooms at the Maya Village Bali can start at just $5 per night, and that includes breakfast and free Wi-Fi. As for food, Stewart says noodles and rice dishes can be purchased in Bali for between $2 to $3 a plate. "Bintang beer is enjoyed by locals and foreigners alike for less than a buck," he adds.

"And if you're short of things to do  head to the beach for some of the best surfing in the world."

Social media is our new travel agent, and it's changing the places we go.

Next time you're scrolling through Instagram enviously looking at vacation photos of uninterrupted views and dramatic landscapes, console yourself with the fact that behind this secluded view there are likely at least a handful of other people holding their selfie sticks, waiting to get their magic shot.

In some cases, the newfound fame brought about by Instagram and other social media platforms has helped to boost local economies and bring tourists to places they might never have discovered otherwise. In other cases, it's creating problems for countries and cities that are simply not equipped to deal with the influx of tourists.

Check out some of the incredible locations around the world that have blown up on Instagram:

Iceland

This northern island nation has seen a dramatic surge in visitors over the past few years. One reason for that is the so-called "'Game of Thrones' effect," as many travelers want the opportunity to Instagram photos of themselves in the dramatic landscapes that appeared in the series. This, combined with the availability of cheap flights and some very effective marketing campaigns, has made Iceland a popular travel destination.

The number of tourists almost doubled from 566,000 to over 1 million between 2011 and 2015, according to Iceland's tourism board. In 2016, the number of Americans visiting the country outnumbered the Icelandic population

The country was recently likened to Disneyland by a local politician who complained that the area is now swarming with tourists. While this influx of visitors has brought a much-needed boost to the economy post-recession, it's also pushed up prices for residents and put pressure on the infrastructure. Locals complain of tourists destroying the fragile ecosytem and leaving a mess behind them as they trample over the formerly untouched natural sites.

Cuba

According to Cuba's ministry of tourism, four million visitors went to Cuba in 2016, an increase of 13% from the year before. The tourism boom has had some consequences for the country's residents, The New York Times reported in December 2016.

The surge in visitors has led to a food shortage, and basic food items have become completely unaffordable for locals. Local hotels and restaurants are buying up supplies in bulk for guests, pushing up prices and leaving limited amounts for locals.

The situation has been acknowledged by the Cuban government, who put caps on prices to make them more affordable for residents. This has only encouraged sellers to put products on the black market, according to The New York Times.

New Zealand

New Zealand has a similar appeal to Iceland: rugged and untouched landscapes that also make for epic backdrops in movies like "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit." The beauty of the country was further promoted in the "100% Pure New Zealand" tourism marketing campaign.

Tourism is a crucial part of New Zealand's economy. It contributes $9.7 billion to the GDP each year and employs 7.5% of the workforce

Residents complain that tourists who are able to camp and roam wherever they like often don't respect the environment. The country also doesn't have the infrastructure in place to cope with the trash and human waste that's often left behind by tourists. Bloomberg reported that there are hotel shortages and a lack of adequate parking and public toilets.

In a survey of 500 residents published by Tourism New Zealand and Tourism Industry Aotearoa in March 2017, 35% of respondents said that tourism puts too much pressure on the country.
