Luna park at coney island

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Theme parks are popular attractions all over the US. With research and the help of Foursquare we found the cream of the crop.
  • Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, for example, is themed entirely around the 1880s.
  • Lagoon in Farmington, Utah, is an amusement and water park that's been open since 1896.

Visiting theme parks is a beloved pastime of Americans of all ages. From parks with record-breaking roller coasters to water parks with slides and wave pools, amusement parks have long been the perfect place for thrill seekers and people just looking to cool off from the summer heat

While theme parks are often associated with the summer months, some parks in places like California and Florida are enjoyable year-round, while others, such as Santa's Village in Jefferson, New Hampshire, are holiday-themed and specialize in wintertime fun.

We turned to Foursquare as well as our own research to find the very best theme park in every state.

23 incredible cheese dishes from around the world that you need to try in your lifetime

Cheese dishes HERO

The INSIDER Summary:

  • INSIDER rounded up 23 of the most delicious cheese dishes from around the world.
  • We excluded "obvious" food like pizza, grilled cheese, and lasagna.
  • Poutine from Canada and Swiss raclette are just two of the cheesy dishes to add to your bucket list.

Forget music and laughter — cheese is the universal language we can all enjoy (unless you're lactose intolerant, that is).

There's just something about cheese that's comforting and reminds us of home. For Americans, it might be a childhood love for pizza or mac 'n' cheese, but there's a whole world of cheese out there.

INSIDER has rounded up 23 of the world's best cheese dishes, from the more familiar Polish cheese pierogis, to the trendy and drippy cheese raclette from Switzerland, as well as lesser-known dishes like fried Rubing cheese, native to China.

Keep scrolling to add to your cheesy travel bucket list.

Adjaruli Khachapuri, Georgia

One of the most popular dishes in the small nation of Georgia, Khachapuri is made with pizza dough, a mozzarella and feta cheese mix, and topped with baked eggs. It's a boat-shaped bread bowl for the ages.

Aligot, France

Although France is world-renowned for its abundance of cheese, aligot is probably one of the lesser- known French dishes in which cheese is the star. This hearty mashed potato dish is one part potato, and one part melty raclette cheese.

Käsespätzle, Austria

We're always open to new types of mac 'n' cheese. This German/Austrian version is made with dumpling-like noodles and topped with caramelized or fried onions. You can use the Swiss-like Emmentaler cheese or Gruyere to make this creamy casserole.

Disney just unveiled new 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' toys that reveal some spoilers about the movie

rey finn star wars

If you're hungry for any of sort of news about the next "Star Wars" movie, Disney just delivered.

Hasbro unveiled a bunch of new "Star Wars" toys at its first annual HasCon event. Among the reveals are a bunch of new action figures for "The Last Jedi," and they do not disappoint.

Keep reading to see Luke Skywalker's new look, Benicio del Toro's character name, and a spoiler of what Finn's character will be up to in the new movie.

First up, we have a good look at Carrie Fisher's General Leia Organa.

It looks like we'll see much more of her in the outfit she debuted at the end of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." We already know Fisher will have at least one scene with Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron.

"I can't give anything away but there was a scene where there was some physicality there and it was shot just over and over and over," Isaac told our sister site Business Insider of a scene they shot about 25 times. "[Fisher] relished the physicality of it, let me just say. It was pretty intense. It will be funny to see what they cut together based on that."

Speaking of Oscar Isaac, Poe Dameron will be getting a new look — and a new character title.

In "The Force Awakens," Dameron was a pilot and operative for General Organa. It looks like his hand in finding her brother Luke Skywalker's location in the last movie paid off. Dameron's referred to as Captain Poe Dameron here. Notice how his outfit seems to have some parallels to Harrison Ford's Han Solo.

We get a good look at Mark Hamill's new look as an older Luke Skywalker. But don't expect this to be the only outfit we see him wear.

It can be easy to overlook, but Skywalker is noticeably showing off a gloved hand. What's up with that? Remember, he lost his right hand to his father Darth Vader in "The Empire Strikes Back." He originally had a new hand built, but from teasers we know Skywalker's back to having a robotic hand. It looks like he's covering it up with a brown glove — for now.

We also get a glimpse of a staff he'll have in the movie. We'll have to wait to see if it's a walking stick or one to fend off attackers.

Most interesting is that this toy is labeled "Jedi Exile" Luke Skywalker. It hints that we'll be getting a few different Skywalker toys in the future. We've already seen one other darker look Skywalker will be wearing that was teased on the cover of a Hungarian magazine.

Market Souvenirs

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Forget gimmicky key chains and cheap t-shirts: Every European country offers unique souvenirs that are native to that country.
  • Examples include chocolate from Switzerland, leather goods from Italy, amber from Poland, and coffee from Turkey.

Sometimes the closest you can get to Europe is an American town with European influences.

But for the times that you can make it abroad, it's always a good idea to commemorate your trip with a souvenir.

Many European countries are known for certain foods or handmade crafts that are ideal for bringing back home. Portugal, for example, is the single producer of port wine in the world.

Keep scrolling to see the ideal souvenir to buy in 20 different European countries.

Germany: mass

Germans have long been known for their love of beer — often it's cheaper than water — and they drink it by the liter in heavy glass mugs known as a mass.

Take a trip to Munich's historic Hofbräuhaus and grab a mass with the iconic blue HB on the front.

Italy: leather goods

Italy is full of outdoor markets packed with vendors selling a variety of leather goods that range from bags to belts to notebooks.

The country's most famous market — and the ideal spot to find quality leather goods — is the San Lorenzo Market in Florence. You could spend the better part of a day wandering around the endless array of stalls.

Croatia: licitar heart

Popular all over Croatia, licitar hearts are simple cakes made from flour, water, yeast, and sugar that are shaped with tin molds and then baked and painted bright colors — most commonly red.

The hearts have been around since the Middle Ages. The smaller versions can make for a great Christmas tree ornament.

People are freaking out about a potential clash between a 'gang' of 'outsiders, misfits, and weirdos' called the Juggalos and far-right Trump supporters

Insane Clown Posse

Juggalos — fans of the Insane Clown Posse — and a far-right, pro-Trump coalition are both staging marches in Washington, DC on the same day.

And, with both groups promising enormous crowds, a clash between the two groups on Saturday seems likely.

Organizers announced the pro-Trump "Mother of All Rallies" on Sunday, describing the event as the "Woodstock of American Rallies" to defend what organizers call traditional American values and culture. While the march is explicitly nonviolent and inclusive, organizers such as the Alt Knights have stated missions of street activism and "confrontation," and were involved in organizing the Charlottesville "Unite the Right" rally.

Meanwhile, Juggalos are marching for a very different issue — to protest being classified as a "loosely organized hybrid gang" by the FBI.

While the Insane Clown Posse draws thousands of fans to festivals, many people are in the dark on what Juggalos actually are. According Juggalos, they're one of the most misunderstood groups of people in the US.

Here's what you need to know about Juggalos before the potential clash between the hip-hop fans and far-right Trump supporters.

SEE ALSO: Millennials have a new attitude about cleavage that's forcing 'breastaurant' Hooters to close locations and change its strategy

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope formed the Insane Clown Posse (ICP) in Detroit, Michigan in 1989 as a hardcore hip hop group.

The term "Juggalos" is comes from "The Juggla," a track on ICP's debut album "Carnival of Carnage," released in 1992.

On a basic level, Juggalos are simply fans of ICP. However, the group has a created subculture that goes further than that of most musical groups.

The best earbuds you can buy

$

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

earbuds 4x3

The Insider Pick:

  • Earbuds need to be well constructed to deliver the same kind of audio quality you'd expect out of a bigger pair of headphones. Master & Dynamic pulled it off with the ME05 earbuds. They are still the best earbuds I've used, delivering excellent sound quality in a nice, neat package.

Earbuds are easily the most convenient type of headphones. Whether they're wired or not, good earbuds deliver on sound quality without being big and bulky. While most of us probably remember our first pair being the hard plastic models that came with the first few generations of iPod, they've come a long way since then.

Like all headphones, earbuds run the gamut in terms of price and style, although they're slightly constrained in the latter category because of their small size. Still, it's possible to show off a little bit of flair while silently listening to your favorite songs on your commute.

I review a lot of headphones — many of them earbuds — so I've culled what I consider to be the five best options into this list. To stand out, these earbuds all do one thing exceptionally well while still being comfortable to wear and a joy to listen to.

So whether your main priority is staying under budget, going fully wireless, making sure your earbuds fit, or trying a lightning pair, you're covered.

Although the Master & Dynamic ME05 Earphones are our top pick, for various reasons laid out in the slides below, you should also consider the iFrogz Impulse Duo earbuds, the Pioneer Rayz Lightning Earbuds, the Etymotic ER4SR Studio Reference In-Ear Monitors, and the Apple Airpods.

SEE ALSO: The best headphones you can buy for under $100

The best earbuds overall

Why you'll love them: With the ME05, Master & Dynamics created a pair of earbuds that sound and look great.

Master & Dynamic's ME05 earbuds are the best earbuds I've tried yet in terms of overall sound quality and design. The physical earbuds are small, but they're made out of brass, which gives them a really high-end look.

Of course, the most important aspect of any type of headphones is their audio quality, and that's where these earbuds excel. They produce rich, accurate, and detailed sound regardless of which genre of music you're listening to.

Like many earbuds, the ME05's have gummy-tipped earbuds, and the sound quality will actually vary greatly depending on how well they fit. Master & Dynamics includes multiple sizes of ear tips in the box, but if you've had problems with them in the past, you might run into some trouble.

To mitigate this problem, a wire clip is included with these earbuds so you can keep the wire from swinging around. Clipping these earbuds onto my shirt actually made a pretty big difference in how they fit, so make sure not to miss it.

Pros: Great audio quality, excellent design, comfortable

Cons: Audio can degrade if the eartip seal is broken

Buy the Master & Dynamic ME05 Earphones on Amazon for $199

The best budget earbuds

Why you'll love them: The iFrogz Impulse Duo headphones deliver good sound quality for the price, with a design that's yet to be outmatched by other Bluetooth earbuds I've tried.

Besides sounding pretty good for the price, the reason iFrogz Impulse Duo earbuds made the cut over all the other budget models I've tried is their design.

The dual driver construction is what gives these earbuds an audio-edge over the competition. But mostly, these earbuds succeed where most Bluetooth models fail: Instead of having all of their technology built into an unwieldy dongle that hangs off the cable connecting both buds, iFrogz built it all into a magnetic clip.

Clip the dongle onto your clothes, pop in the earbuds, and you're ready to listen to music. In terms of audio quality, you shouldn't expect a truly audiophile experience for less than $50, but don't expect a bad one, either. These are actually the upgraded version of the earbuds iFrogz released last year, and while the design is the same, time was spent in improving the sound quality.

I'll put it to you this way. These headphones are so easy to use and sound good enough, that they're my go-to pair between reviews. It's just so convenient to coil them up and pop them in my pocket after a commute, or once my friends finally make it to our meeting place.

Pros: Excellent design, good sound, affordable, Bluetooth connection

Cons: The sound quality isn't as good as other options on this list

Buy the iFrogz Impulse Duo Headphones on Amazon for $44.99

The best lightning earbuds for iPhone

Why you'll love them: With the Rayz Lightning Earbuds, Pioneer eliminated the worst part about using wired headphones with an iPhone 7 or later.

The iPhone 7 (and now the iPhone 8) has a lot going for it. It's fast, sleek looking, and is generally more powerful than an "actual computer" was only a few years ago. The problem is that without a headphone jack, you've had to decide whether to charge your phone or listen to music — unless you made the jump to Bluetooth headphones.

Pioneer's Rayz Lightning Earbuds make that a non-issue. They connect to your iPhone's lightning jack, but they have an addition lightning port built into them to charge your phone.

Overall these headphones sound pretty good, and you'll be happy whether you listen to top 40 music through a streaming service or audiophile lossless versions of jazz albums. There are earbuds that sound better, but at this price, you're getting a really good pair.

That's especially true when you consider that these earbuds actually make good on Apple's promise that lightning headphones would be able to do more than normal wired headphones. Through an app, you can adjust noise canceling, and enable a couple of extra features called "Smart Mute" and "Hear Thru."

The former mutes the microphone on these earbuds when you're on a phone call, but not speaking, that's hugely beneficial if you're in a windy area. The latter automatically pauses your music when you take the earbuds out of your ears, which is a lot more elegant than fumbling for the pause button when someone asks you a question.

Pros: A bunch of extra features, good sound quality overall, lets you use wired headphones and charge your iPhone without a dongle

Cons: Only works with iPhone

Buy the Pioneer Rayz Lightning Earbuds on Amazon for $149.95

Hottest football men 2017

Ah, football season. Time for fantasy competitions, game day snacks, and, for some of us, checking out the really good-looking players.

Although many players are taken, we've rounded up the most-eligible, and most-attractive men of the NFL who are single. Well, as far as we know.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Age: 24

Position: Wide Receiver

Number: #13

Claim to fame: His one-handed catch

Notable exes: Odell has kept his love life pretty secret.

He's been rumored to be dating model Poly Ferfeli, but the pair hasn't confirmed it. There were also rumors that he was dating model and activist Amber Rose, but those have fizzled out.

Dak Prescott

Age: 24

Position: Quarterback

Number: #4

Claim to fame: He stepped up as the Cowboys' starting quarterback after Tony Romo was injured.

Notable exes: Prescott has been linked to a few models including Playboy's Dallas Nicole, but he claimed to not even know who she was, so it's safe to say that Prescott is likely a single man.

Julio Jones

Age: 28

Position: Wide Receiver

Number: #11

Claim to fam: He has been invited to four Pro Bowls, went to the Super Bowl in 2016, and during his time in college, led the University of Alabama to an undefeated season.

Notable exes: Despite his professional success, Jones seems to be single. He was previously linked to singer Jasmine Villegas, a.k.a the lead in Justin Bieber's music video for "Baby," but never confirmed their relationship

NASA picked the 100 greatest images of Saturn from its Cassini mission — here are some of the best

cassini huygens spacecraft testing nasa jpl psd lpi

After 13 years of orbiting Saturn and its moons, NASA's bus-size Cassini probe is now a puff of radioactive vapor in the planet's swirling clouds.

Space agency leaders knew this day would come since 2010, when they decided to empty Cassini's tanks to continue exploring Saturn as long as possible.

Without a means of controlling the probe, they reasoned, Cassini had to be destroyed. This would prevent it crashing into Saturn's icy moons Enceladus and Titan — which hide vast, salty, global oceans that may be habitable to alien life — since Cassini left Earth contaminated with small amounts of bacteria.

To honor the more than 453,000 photos Cassini took of Saturn, its rings, moons, and other objects, several NASA divisions worked together to select its 100 greatest visuals. Those have been turned into a 110-page ebook, titled "The Saturn System Through the Eyes of Cassini", which is free to download for iBooks, Kindles, and other ebook readers (and just as a PDF).

"While these images represent the tip of the iceberg — each telling a story about Saturn and its mysterious moons — our hope is that the mission will inspire future artists and explorers," NASA wrote in a press release. "The sheer beauty of these images is surpassed only by the science and discoveries they represent."

Jim Green, NASA's head of planetary science, wrote the forward to the collection of pictures.

"This book is the first chapter of what I predict will be the greatest story ever told: how humans reached for the stars and discovered life beyond Earth," Green said.

Here's a small collection of the best images and what they reveal.

SEE ALSO: The 15 most incredible plutonium-powered space missions of all time

DON'T MISS: I worked on NASA's Saturn mission for 28 years — here's why we must go back after Cassini is destroyed

The book includes beautiful views of Saturn. This image shows the planet's north pole and its hexagonal blue-yellow storm, which is big enough to fit several Earths inside.

Cassini snapped this photo of Saturn while passing through the planet's shadow.

Here Saturn appears to float. In fact, the planet is so gaseous it'd float on water (if there was an ocean big enough).

The top 10 threats facing Europe, according to Europeans

$

european union flag brexit

Europeans are largely in agreement on the top threats that face the European Union — and if you've been following the news as of late, you can probably guess what they are.

Eurobarometer published a report in August showing that despite ongoing concerns like rising inflation and member states' finances, economic issues aren't necessarily at the top of most Europeans' lists of fears.

The survey was carried out in late May, and EU citizens were asked to identify the two most important issues facing the EU at the moment.

Here's what they were most concerned about:

SEE ALSO: Police are hunting suspects after an improvised bomb exploded on the London Underground and injured 22 people

10. The environment

The environment is seen by 6% of those surveyed as one of the top issues facing the European Union, with people in Sweden and France being the most worried.

Concerns about the environment and climate change are palpable across the world. Earlier this year, each EU member state joined nearly every other nation in the world in signing the Paris Agreement on climate change and pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The only holdouts to the agreement were Syria, Nicaragua, and the United States — although it's worth noting that Eurobarometer's survey was conducted before President Donald Trump announced in June the US would pull out of the agreement.

9. Rising prices/inflation/cost of living

Just 7% of Europeans were concerned about the rising cost of living, although that number could rise in the future in the United Kingdom in particular, due to the impact of Brexit.

The UK's Office of National Statistics announced in March that the annual rate is the highest it's been in more than three years.

8. Climate change

Although it's unclear whether Europeans view "climate change" as a separate issue from "the environment," which just 6% expressed concern about, another 8% said climate change was one of the top issues facing the EU.

Here's how 13 celebrities got rid of their acne

how celebs got rid of acne

Celebrities may have gobs of money, glamorous wardrobes, and giant houses, but there's one thing they share with even us normal folk: Acne

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) says that acne affects 50 million Americans every year. Celebs may be able to disguise acne with the help of pro makeup artists, but that doesn't mean they're immune to blemishes.

Here's a look at 13 different celebrities who have been open about their acne, plus how they successfully treat it.

Natalie Portman says going vegan changed everything.

In an interview with The Cut, actor Natalie Portman revealed that she, too, has battled blemishes as an adult. She also said that changing from vegetarianism to stricter veganism vastly improved her skin.

"I cut out dairy and eggs, and I never had a breakout after," she said. "That was definitely a discovery."

That doesn't mean cutting out dairy and eggs will work for everyone. A small handful of studies have found that milk products may aggravate acne, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). The link seems to be particularly strong with skim milk as opposed to other dairy foods like cheese or yogurt.

Still, the evidence is very preliminary, and for now, the AAD doesn't recommend any dietary changes as a way to treat acne.

Victoria Beckham eats a lot of salmon.

The former Spice Girl's struggle with acne has been well documentedin the media. Apparently she found her solution in seafood.

"I see a dermatologist in LA, called Dr Harold Lancer, who is incredible," she said in a 2016 interview with Net-a-Porter magazine. "I've known him for years — he sorted my skin out. I used to have really problematic skin and he said to me, 'You have to eat salmon every single day.' I said, 'Really, every day?' And he said, 'Yes; breakfast, lunch or dinner, you have to eat it every single day.'"

The idea isn't totally off-base: Salmon is rich omega-3 fatty acids— a type of fat that's uniquely abundant in seafood and proven to have anti-inflammatory effects in the body. But, again, the AAD says there's still not enough evidence to recommend any specific food or diet as acne treatment.

Bella Thorne tried Accutane, but it wasn't a perfect cure.

Thorne told Refinery29 that she had tried Accutane, a powerful prescription drug that can permanently cure acne in exchange for some intense side effects. She said that she was on the drug for almost two years, though a typical course of treatment is around four to six months.

Accutane is a permanent cure for about 85% of patients who take it, according to the AAD, but Thorne wasn't in that lucky majority. She has continued to break out.

"When I was on Accutane, they told me, 'You'll never have another pimple in your entire life,'" the actor told Refinery29. "They said nine out of 10 people never have a pimple again. So, I'm like, 'Well, f--- me, I guess I'm just that 10%, aren't I?'"

But she also said she's since found success with a prescription antibacterial gel called clindamycin phosphate. And she tries not to touch her pimples, which is smart, since picking at blemishes can lead to infections and permanent scarring, per the AAD

Stars Hollow jump-started the careers of a number of actors, including Alexis Bledel and Melissa McCarthy.

But while the "Gilmore Girls" cast was full of many new faces, it was also graced by veterans. Much of the cast returned for the revival "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

Here's a look back at what the cast looked like when they first starred on the hit show and what they've been up to since the series ended in 2007:

Alexis Bledel made her TV (and lead role) debut as Rory Gilmore.

She made her feature film debut in 2002 with "Tuck Everlasting" and starred in the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movies. She also had a small role on "Mad Men." She recently won an Emmy for her role on "The Handmaid's Tale."

Lauren Graham starred in a few short-lived sitcoms before landing her role as Rory's mom, Lorelai. She earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role.

The best value plays in your DraftKings lineup for Week 2 of the NFL season

$

Jameis Winston

Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season is in the books and with it our first week of daily fantasy.

Last week we tried to identify some of the best value plays in DraftKings so you could spend a little extra on the likes of Antonio Brown and LeSean McCoy, and did pretty well for ourselves. Carson Wentz was a top five quarterback despite being one of the cheapest on the board, Zach Ertz did the same at tight end, and the Rams defense was the top scoring unit in the league.

This week, the goal is the same — pick some daily fantasy players that have the potential to produce numbers at a cheaper price so you can splurge on superstars elsewhere in your lineup.

Take a look below and see where your lineup can be helped.

SEE ALSO: NFL WEEK 2: Our official predictions for who wins this weekend

QB: Jameis Winston, $6,300

Jameis Winston have had an extra week off and are surely restless to take the field. With a lot to prove after an up-and-down year last season, expect them to come out firing at home against a Bears secondary that is vulnerable to giving up a big play or two. Winston's ability to run with the ball and score on his own is an added bonus.

RB: Ty Montgomery, $5,800

Don't be fooled by his number, Ty Montgomery is a running back and should probably be in your lineup this week. The Packers are heading to Atlanta to take on the Falcons, and will want to establish the run on the road. Last week Montgomery got 23 touches including catching four passes, and the Falcons have trouble defending pass-catching backs.

RB: Kerwynn Williams, $4,800

Kerwynn Williams is filling the shoes of David Johnson for the Arizona Cardinals (and fantasy owners across the country), and is a nice value at under $5,000 for the amount of touches he might be getting on Sunday.

The summer days are drawing to a close, and next week autumn will officially be upon us. If that doesn't get you thinking about your next trip away, I don't know what will.

If you're considering jetting off to warmer climes — or are simply in need of an adventure — Post Office Travel Money has done the hard work for you.

Every year the company's Long Haul Holiday Report compares the price of travel items — such as a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, suncream, and a meal for two — in destinations around the world to produce the average cost of a day in each place.

This year, the report crowned a new holiday destination as the cheapest, and saw four new entrants reach the top 10.

Thanks to local price cuts in restaurants, bars, and shops across the board, costs for British holidaymakers are also expected to be lower in 40% of the 30 surveyed places.

So if you're looking for some travel inspiration to remedy the soon-to-be post-summer blues, keep scrolling for 30 of the cheapest holiday destinations outside of Europe, ranked in descending order by the average cost of a day in each place.

Nintendo's huge new Mario game looks incredible and bizarre

Mario's been to a lot of weird places, and he's done a lot of strange things, but nothing compares to the surreal and bizarre world of "Super Mario Odyssey."

"Super Mario Odyssey" is the next major flagship game in the classic franchise, from Nintendo's world-class internal teams — and it's nearly here.

Super Mario Odyssey

With the launch of "Odyssey" coming up so soon on October 27, Nintendo pulled back the curtain a bit further in a massive new gameplay walkthrough video. There's a lot to absorb, but we've pulled out some highlights below.

SEE ALSO: Nintendo is about to release a miniature version of the original SNES — here's everything we know about it

"Super Mario Odyssey" a 3D Mario game, in the lineage of "Super Mario 64" and "Super Mario Galaxy." That means it's a sandbox-style game. The world is segmented into levels, but the levels are massive and open-ended.

Forget about flagpoles — in "Super Mario Odyssey," you're given free reign to go wherever you want within a world. There are no "beginning" and "end" points in "Odyssey," in that sense. There is an overall story arc and a progression to the game, of course, but each world is open-ended in how you approach it.

New Donk City, for instance, is one of the game's many locations. It's set within the "Metro Kingdom"— one of several "kingdoms" Mario visits in "Super Mario Odyssey."

You're of course controlling Mario once again. But rather than collecting power-ups to, say, grow larger or shoot fireballs, you've got a seemingly magical hat.

How Whole Foods went from a hippie natural foods store to Amazon’s latest weapon (AMZN)

Whole Foods has had quite the ride.

CEO and co-founder John Mackey took it from a small natural foods store in the hippie haven of Austin, Texas to an international behemoth. It was only 10,500 square feet with 19 employees.

But the idea of natural food stores was only beginning, and as one of the first in the country, the seed that Mackey planted blossomed.

Through acquisitions of natural food stores around the country, though, the chain became larger and larger and had ambitious growth plans, but was also humbled a few times in its history.

Before being purchased by Amazon for $13.7 billion, Whole Foods weathered financial downturns and FTC probes as it grew into the US' largest natural grocery chain.

Now that it's owned by Amazon, a new chapter is about to begin. Plenty has been said about what might change for the chain now, but it's also important to see what has changed for the chain in the past.

We've put together a timeline with some of the most important moments in Whole Foods' history.

In 1978, John Mackey opened Safer Way Natural Foods in Austin, Texas.

By 1980, he merged with another local natural food store, Clarksville Natural Grocery, to open the first Whole Foods Market on September 20th. This original store was destroyed in a flood in 1981, but the community rallied around it and it was only out of business for 28 days.

Much of Whole Foods' growth was through mergers and acquisitions. It frequently moved into new markets through buying a local chain and converting it to a Whole Foods. By 1984, Whole Foods expanded to nearby Houston and 600 employees, and in 1988 bought the Whole Food Company in New Orleans for its first expansion outside of Texas.

Embraer Legacy 500

  • The Embraer Legacy 500 is a midsize private jet introduced in 2014
  • It costs $20 million and can fly non-stop between New York and LA.
  • The Legacy 500 seats between eight and 12 passengers.

Every product needs a good pitchman. For the Embraer Legacy 500, that person is movie legend, Jackie Chan. The kung fu star and Academy Award winner is a former Embraer brand ambassador and owns a small fleet of the company's private jets, including the first Legacy 500 in delivered to China.

According to Embraer, Chan uses the $20 million Embraer 500 for shorter trips within China while a larger airliner-based Legacy 650 is used for trans-oceanic flights.

As a lifelong fan of Jackie Chan, I was curious to see what drew the actor to the Legacy 500. Recently, Business Insider got the chance to take a test flight on board one of the Embraer's demonstrator at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.

The afternoon flight took us north over the upstate New York and New England before return to New Jersey.

Here's a closer look at our flight on the Embraer Legacy 500.

We arrived at Teterboro Airport on a sunny July afternoon. Waiting for us on the airport's busy tarmac was a silver and blue Legacy 500.

Overall, the Legacy 500 is 68 feet long and 21 feet tall with a 66 and a half-foot wingspan.

Introduced in 2014, it is the Brazilian airplane maker's latest midsize private jet.
