7 claims that have been disputed in Michael Wolff's bombshell book on Trump so far

Michael Wolff

Journalist and author Michael Wolff's bombshell book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," came out on Friday after its publisher moved up the release date in light of the massive attention and controversy that have surrounded its claims about President Donald Trump.

Demand for the book was so high in fact that one popular Washington, DC bookstore sold out all of its copies just 20 minutes after it was released at midnight.

But Wolff's explosive claims, including that everyone in the White House has questioned Trump's fitness for office and that First Lady Melania Trump cried when it became clear Trump would win the presidency on election night, have come under scrutiny for their accuracy. Both Trump and White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders have characterized the book as untrue, and Trump himself tweeted that it is "full of lies, misrepresentations, and sources that don't exist."Journalists have also called Wolff's claims into question.

Here are seven of the most disputed claims in Wolff's new book:

Trump not knowing who John Boehner is

In a notable passage in "Fire and Fury," Wolff recounts a conversation between former Fox News executive Roger Ailes and Trump in which Ailes recommended that Trump pick former House Speaker John Boehner as his chief of staff. "Who's that?" Trump reportedly responded.

But journalists were quick to point out holes in Wolff's account — not only had Trump played golf with Boehner in 2013, but he also mentioned him four times during the campaign, and tweeted about him twice.

The Trump team's surprise and dismay upon learning they had won the election

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer has come out to deny Wolff's account of the Trump team's reaction to winning the presidency in November 2016, and specifically called into question Wolff's claim that Trump and his wife Melania were horrified to have won the election.

"Melania Trump was the one who encouraged President Trump to run for office," Spicer told CNN. "She was very supportive of this. The idea that she was crying is nonsense."

"There is no question that the accuracy of this book is definitely in question," Spicer continued. "And I know from some of the things that were written that don't pertain to me definitely didn't happen, with respect to the President, the First Lady."

Tony Blair warning Jared Kushner that British agents might have spied on the Trump campaign

Wolff's claim that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair personally warned Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner that the Trump campaign might have been spied on by British agents was quickly shot down by Blair himself on Thursday.

"This story is a complete fabrication, literally from beginning to end," Blair said, according to The Guardian. "I've never had such conversation in the White House, outside of the White House, with Jared Kushner, with anybody else."

Blair also threw cold water on another passage in Wolff's book in which he claimed that Blair had been hoping to become Trump's Middle East envoy.

“Of course I've met him and we discussed the Middle East peace process," the former Prime Minister said. "I wasn't angling for some job. I did the quartet role. I'm still very active on the Middle East peace process, but I've got absolutely no desire for an official position. I never sought one, it was never offered, don't want one.”

North and South Korea met in the truce village of Panmunjom — these extraordinary photos show what it's like

For the first time in more than two years, delegations from North and South Korea have met for official talks.

Their meeting place was "truce village" Panmunjom, the site of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953.

Since then, Panmunjom has become the only part of the demilitarized zone where North and South Korean soldiers face one another every day, and where foreign dignitaries come to peer into North Korea for themselves.

But life in Panmunjom and surrounding villages is remarkably ordinary. Shops exist, kids attend schools and farmers toil the fields — though much of this is done with a backdrop of high tensions and a military presence.

There's also a thriving tourist scene. According to PRI, visitors must sign a form that says they understand their visits “will entail entry into a hostile area and the possibility of injury or death."

Keep scrolling to take the tour for yourself:

'Peace House' sits on the South Korean side of the truce village Panmunjom in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). This is where talks between North and South took place on January 9.

The six blue and white buildings straddle the demarcation line and are jointly used conference rooms.

Over the years, many photos have captured North Korean soldiers looking into these rooms when they're in use by South Korea.

ALABAMA WINS A THRILLER IN OVERTIME! Here are the top plays and big moments everybody will be talking about

Alabama

Alabama is the college football national champions for the fifth time in nine years and they did it with a thrilling win over Georgia in overtime.

Bama trailed 13-0 at halftime as they struggled to move the ball and Georgia repeatedly converted on third down. But in the second half, Nick Saban made the gutsy decision to switch to true-freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who had not seen any meaningful action all season.

Tagovailoa sparked the Crimson Tide, leading them to four scores in the second half and a shot to win the championship at the end of regulation, with the score tied 20-20. But a missed field goal by Alabama sent the game to overtime.

In OT, Georgia kicked a field goal and then sacked Tagovailoa on what appeared to be a disastrous first down. But on the next play, he hit DeVonta Smith on a 41-yard touchdown and Alabama is the national champion for the 15 or 17th time, depending on whether you believe Bama or the NCAA. It was also Nick Saban's sixth championship — more than every other active FBS coach combined.

Below we tracked the biggest plays and top moments.

It was a rainy night in Atlanta. For the most part it was a good thing the game was indoors. But there was a report prior to the game of a leak coming from the roof directly above the field.

8 signs you have your life together — even if you think you don’t

$

mindy project hulu

There's a reason the term "adulting" has gained so much popularity in recent years. The term has elicited passionate op-eds arguing that it undermines young adults' skill-sets (especially women) and that it makes simple tasks like cooking dinner or buying groceries seem self-congratulatory — but the sentiment behind it is easy to understand.

For many of us in our 20s and 30s, we feel less "together" than our predecessors. Millennials have taken on 300% more student debt than our parents, and are only half as likely to own a home as young adults were in 1975. In the traditional sense, we don't feel as grown-up as we are supposed to.

Still, despite the fact that my life often feels like it's close to chaos at any moment, there are a thousand small ways in which I reclaim the term "adult" in my everyday life.

Here are eight signs your life might be more "together" than you think.

You make the time to vote.

Regardless of whether you have a ten-year plan or even know what a 401k is, taking the time to vote in elections (yes, even local ones) is a sign that you’re an adult.

Only 61% of people — and only 50% of millennials — voted in the 2016 presidential election. That number is even lower in non-presidential election years.

Being an active and engaged citizen makes a big difference, and shows you're grown up.

You lean into your guilty pleasures.

Whatever brings respite or even a passing moment of pleasure in 2017 is valid – no matter how trivial.

Although you may not think bingeing reality TV is a "hobby,"a study claimed that when people find something they're really passionate about, it can help them relieve stress and live a happier life.

Whether you stan Ariana Grande with all the fervency of a 12-year-old at the Jingle Ball or prefer young adult romance novels to James Joyce, staying strong and unabashed in what makes you happy is something adults struggle with their entire lives.

You know approximately how much money is in your bank account.

A 2016 poll found that nearly a third of young adults in the UK are afraid to check their account balance.

Even if the mere act of logging into your bank app is enough to make you start to break out in hives, pressing the button to find out exactly how much you spent at the bar last night is both mature and necessary (and much, much harder than it sounds.)

12 ways one type of exercise is the closest thing to a miracle drug we have

woman running outdoors fall park leaves exercise run jog

Want an all-natural way to lift your mood, improve your memory, and protect your brain against the decline that comes with aging?

Get moving.

Exercises that get your heart pumping and sweat flowing — known as aerobic exercise, or "cardio" — have significant and beneficial effects on the brain and body, according to a wealth of recent research, including a new study published Monday.

"Aerobic exercise is key for your head, just as it is for your heart," according to an article in a Harvard Medical School blog. Here are some of the ways cardio is such a boon for our bodies.

DON'T MISS: 18 'healthy habits' you should give up in 2018

SEE ALSO: What your daily routine should look like, according to science

Cardio tones your muscles.

It was initially believed that when it comes to building muscle, cardio paled in comparison to exercises like resistance training, which are designed to help you gain strength. But a recent review of 14 studies published in the journal Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews found that on average, men who did 45 minutes of moderate to intense cardio 4 days a week saw a 5%-6% increase in leg muscle size.

“Aerobic exercise, if done properly, can lead to as much muscle growth as you’d expect with resistance exercise,” Ball State University exercise scientist Matthew Harber, who authored the study, told Men's Fitness

It also raises your heart rate, improving heart and lung health.

Aerobic workouts, especially swimming, train your body to use oxygen more efficiently, a practice that gradually reduces your resting heart rate and your breathing rate — two important indicators of cardiovascular health.

A 2008 study compared blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and other heart health metrics across close to 46,000 walkers, runners, swimmers, and sedentary people. The researchers found that the regular swimmers and runners had the best metrics, followed closely by the walkers.

It may even help reverse some heart damage from normal aging.

Many of us become less active as we get older. Over time, this can lead some muscles in the heart to stiffen. One of those at-risk muscles is in the left chamber of the heart, a section that plays a key role in supplying the body with freshly-oxygenated blood.

A recent study split 53 adults into two groups, one of which did two years of supervised exercise four to five days per week while the other simply did yoga and balance exercises. At the end of the study, published in January in the journal Circulation, the higher-intensity exercisers saw significant improvements in their heart's performance. Those results suggest that some stiffening in the heart can be prevented or even reversed with regular cardio.

"Based on a series of studies performed by our team over the past 5 years, this 'dose' of exercise has become my prescription for life," Benjamin Levine, the author of the study and and a professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern, said in a statement.

The best treadmills for your home gym

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

treadmill 4x3

The Insider Pick:

  • Treadmills vary quite a bit in the features they offer, but everyone wants a treadmill that provides plenty of power and reliability. For a great all-around treadmill that costs less than $1,000, the NordicTrack C 990 Treadmill is a great buy.

When building a home gym, you'll find a lot of strange equipment out there. Some of the machines may look more like ancient torture devices than helpful weight-loss machines.

If you’d rather have a simple piece of gym equipment that can help you lose weight while also preparing for road races like 2-milers and 5Ks (even if you tell everyone else you’re prepping for marathons), treadmills are the answer.

Compared to other types of machines, treadmills are dead simple to use. Just run or walk on the belt, and a motor will move the belt under your feet at whatever speed you select. But treadmills offer a whole host of different features that’ll help you gain exactly the kinds of training and health benefits you need. Some treadmills are very advanced and even offer high-tech features, while others are more basic.

We've included a variety of treadmill types at a number of price points so you can find the best treadmill for your needs. Be aware, though, that treadmills are expensive and cheaper models may not last as long or work as well in the long run.

Read on in the slides below to learn why the NordicTrack C 990 Treadmill is our top pick and why you may prefer the high-end 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill, the mid-range ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill, the affordable Horizon Fitness T101-04 Treadmill, and the foldable LifeSpan TR3000i Folding Treadmill.

The best treadmill for most people

Why you'll love it: The Nordic Track C 990 Treadmill isn’t a perfect treadmill, but its high-tech features and great running experience make it a great buy for less than $1,000

If you love to run, you'll want a good-quality treadmill that doesn't break the bank, and the Nordic Track C 990 Treadmill is a great option with its high-tech features, good motor, decent-sized running belt, and relatively affordable sub-$1,000 price tag.

The 7-inch screen can connect to your Wi-fi so you can watch Netflix while you run or view the metrics for your workout. You can even pretend you're running outside with access to Google Maps. It even has a fan to cool you down. Top Fitness Magazine review says the touchscreen is a great addition that breaks up the monotony of running on a treadmill.

Nordic Track offers several pre-set workouts from the iFit library, which is something Amazon buyers love. USA Home Gym says this treadmill has plenty of accessories to make your workout more enjoyable, including a tablet shelf, a port for your music player, a smartphone tray, and a water bottle holder.

The treadmill has a belt size of 20 by 60 inches and a 3.0-horsepower motor, which should be adequate for most people. Considering its sub $1,000 price, the C 990 has some nice features for average runners, Fit Rated says.

The only downside is that several Amazon reviewers report longevity problems, as well as poor customer service. Nordic Track does offer a lifetime frame and motor warranty, a 3-year parts warranty, and a one-year labor warranty.

Pros: 7-inch screen, decent belt size, 3 horsepower motor, pre-set workouts, relatively affordable, entertainment features

Cons: Longevity of treadmill is questionable, may have customer service problems

Buy the NordicTrack C990 Treadmill on Amazon for $949 (originally $999)

The best high-end treadmill

Why you'll love it: The 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill delivers excellent performance and runs quieter than most treadmills.

Few treadmills made for use at home will deliver the kind of quiet performance that the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill delivers. It’s made for tall or heavy runners looking a tough workout, but you’ll pay more than $3,000 for the kind of quality that this 3G Cardio unit delivers.

It has an Ortho Flex Shock suspension system to minimize the stress of impact for runners, and the 22 by 62-inch platform is perfect for running. Tall people will also love it, according to Home Treadmill Reviews.

The 3G Cardio comes with many pre-programmed workouts and a fitness level test. You have access to speed and elevation settings, heart rate control, and workout customization.

The 3G Cardio treadmill has a 4.0 horsepower motor and 3-inch rollers for great performance. Treadmill Reviews says the strong motor and the sturdy design of the treadmill ensure that it runs quietly, which is a blessing in a home gym.

As you would expect with a treadmill with such a high price point, the 3G Cardio Elite consists of thick steel tubing in the frame. In its review, Best Fitness Equipment says both are key in providing longevity and good performance. If something should go wrong, 3G Cardio offers a 10-year parts warranty and two years of in-home repairs.

One Amazon buyer speaks for many, saying that the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill compares favorably to the types of high-quality treadmills found in professional gyms. The only big downside is how big and heavy it is at 400 pounds. It's also rather expensive, so this is really only for serious runners who want a treadmill that will last a lifetime.

Pros: Strong steel frame that will support a lot of weight, unit runs quieter than most treadmills, large treadmill belt area for tall runners, includes a large motor to compare favorably to gym treadmills

Cons: Extremely high price point, very heavy equipment that is difficult to move around

Buy the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill on Amazon for $3,399

The best race training treadmill

Why you'll love it: The ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill will help you train for your next road race indoors when the weather is bad.

Runners who are looking for a treadmill with good all-around training capabilities will like the reasonably-priced ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill.

It has a 3.5-horsepower motor, which allows it to stand up to daily use, and it boasts a belt deck that measures 22 by 60 inches, which is perfect for most runners. When you're training for races with hills, you’ll appreciate this treadmill’s ability to reach a 15% incline and a 3% decline, which better simulates hills than most other treadmills, according to the Top Fitness Magazine review.

The ProForm treadmill also has a number of techy features, including a 7-inch screen that's compatible with iFit workouts, a music port for iPods, and many workout apps. It also has ProShox Cushioning to lessen the impact for runners.

Overall, reviewers like this treadmill for average runners. Fit Rated says the Pro 2000 delivers a strong level of features and performance for an entry-level treadmill, as long as you don’t need a heavy-duty cardio trainer. Treadmill Reviews agrees that it's a good option for the price.

Buyers mostly praise the treadmill, and one Amazon reviewer says the ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill works well both for regular training runs as well as for interval training.

However, several Amazon customers express disappointment with the level of customer service they received after having problems with the unit.

Pros: Good motor, large running belt of 22 by 60 inches, includes both an incline and a decline setting, offers good interval training features

Cons: Customer service may be disappointing if you have problems, very heavy treadmill

The 60th Grammy Awards, held this year on January 28 at 7:30 p.m., are a time for music's biggest stars to show off their unique fashion sense on the red carpet.

But some stars make a bolder statement with their looks than others.

From Lady Gaga's many costumes to Cee Lo Green's iconic gold look, keep reading to see the wildest outfits of all time that celebrities have worn to the Grammy Awards.

In 1999, Missy Elliot wore this white jacket and hat combo with feathers dangling from the sleeves.

She's had a few amazing Grammy Award's looks throughout the years.

Perhaps the most unforgettable Grammy Awards outfit ever was Jennifer Lopez's plunging Versace dress in 2000.

JLo's dress caused a stir across the internet and in the fashion world. In a blog post, Google's executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, even said her dress was the reason the company invented Google Image Search.

Lopez says she still has the dress, but still doesn't understand the craze behind her outfit: "It was a nice dress. I had no idea it was going to become such a big deal."

The next year, Christina Aguilera decided to go for a very revealing dress and cornrows in her hair.

"This was a point in my life when I wanted to have braids, when I wanted to be able to be unafraid to experiment,"she told People.

Aguilera would likely be brought to task for cultural appropriation in this day and age. Actress and activist Amandla Stenberg has spoken about why white celebrities wearing cornrows is problematic, referencing Aguilera's look — watch it here.

5 things that make Canada a very different place to work than the US

canada flag

The United States and Canada are next-door neighbors, but there are some major differences in how the two nations conduct business.

Across the board, Canada seems to ditch many of the customs Americans hate about their work culture. For example, laws dictate how many hours employees work and how much vacation time they get every year.

Read on for five things that Canadian workers do differently than their American counterparts.

SEE ALSO: 6 American work habits other countries avoid at all costs

Canadians work less than Americans

A 2014 Gallup report estimated that the average full-time American worker works 47 hours per week, reaffirming the global stereotype that Americans are addicted to their jobs.

That habit hasn't quite crept across the border yet. In Canada, most full-time workers work between 36 and 40 hours a week, the Canadian government reported.

They get more breaks during the day, too

American office workers have a reputation for being chained to their desks, taking few breaks even just to eat a meal or walk around.

In Canada, employees are entitled to a 30-minute break every five hours and for a 24-hour break each week, ensuring that workers aren't on the job around the clock.

Canadian workers get more vacation time than Americans

Every country has different requirements for employee vacation time, and it seems like across the board, almost every other country has it better than the US.

Canada is no exception — workers with less than five years at a company are entitled to two weeks of paid vacation a year, and that shoots up to three weeks after their fifth anniversary at their workplace.

The US, meanwhile, doesn't legally require companies to offer paid vacation time. Many companies offer two weeks to their employees, although the average worker only ends up using about half of their time.

Does a new year mean a new Netflix? Probably not, as their slate for the first month of 2018 is still troublingly light on movies that would be old enough to have their own Netflix accounts.

Nevertheless, the streaming giant has plugged a few of the biggest gaps in their library of classic films, adding “The Godfather” trilogy, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and the entire “Bring it On” series in one fell swoop.

Here are the seven best films to stream on Netflix in January 2018 (and click here for a list of everything that’s been added to the service this month).

7. “Definitely, Maybe” (2008)

Width: 800px
Height: 410px

Remember romantic comedies? They were nice. Sure, many of them were patently insane, and almost all of them reinforced some pernicious gender norms, but they could also be sweet and sincere reminders that we’re all just out there looking for love. “Definitely, Maybe” is one of the genre’s better examples, and also one of its last (at least of the glossy major studio variety). The semi-demented saga of a divorced father who recasts his sex life as a bedtime story for his 10-year-old daughter, the movie hinges on a convoluted premise that requires you to turn off your brain and let the cuteness work its magic.

But the film’s meandering flashback structure allows it to squeeze in three rom-coms for the price of one, and Ryan Reynolds has some pretty electric chemistry with all three of his exquisitely cast love interests (Rachel Weisz, Isla Fisher, and Elizabeth Banks). Mix in a Bill Clinton subplot, a genuine measure of suspense, and a pinch of fatalistic anxiety and you’ve got yourself a delightful bit of escapism.

6. “Bring it On” (2000)

Youtube Embed:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/IP6mF9YffvQ
Width: 800px
Height: 410px

At the risk of understating the film’s importance, “Bring it On” essentially closed the book on one century of cinema while authoring the first chapter of another. Arriving at the tail end of the ’90s teen movie boom (right before “Not Another Teen Movie” would brilliantly steer the genre towards self-parody), but also anticipating the irony and intersectionality at the heart of today’s youth culture, Peyton Reed’s spirited cheerleading saga holds up and then some.

Reed knows how to mock something with loving moxie (see “Down with Love”), Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union were peaking into perfect foils for each other, and Jessica Bendinger’s script finds a million different ways to add new flair to old routines. It’s part “Clueless,” part “Pitch Perfect,” and all gold. Also, “Torrance Shipman” is one of the great movie names of all time, and there will be no debate on that subject.

5. “The Force” (2017)

Youtube Embed:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/7C-mxacZlJU
Width: 800px
Height: 410px

Here’s Anthony Kaufman, eloquently speaking to one of 2017’s most vital documentaries: “Peter Nicks’s outstanding direct-cinema portrait of the troubled Oakland Police ‘The Force’ is another urgent chronicle that captures the deep ruptures in our communities: On one side, the much-maligned police of the California city; on the other, the community who feels trampled over by the authorities.

That ‘The Force’ suggests—at first, at least—that we should sympathize with the police during Trumpian times may be a tough pill for some viewers to swallow, but what makes the movie such a riveting and resonant story is the unexpected places it goes. Despite how it first seems, ‘The Force’ paints a far more complicated and troubled picture of enforcement and accountability, which is sure to only become more distressing in the years to come.”

8 ways to trick yourself into feeling more confident

$

evie lovesick

Self-confidence is widely considered one of the most attractive qualities anyone can have. Studies claim that self-confidence can improve your chances of getting a job, help score you more dates than simply being attractive can, and even result in higher grades. Unfortunately, feeling confident in yourself is usually much easier said than done. Few people are blessed with the ability to feel good about themselves almost all the time, and even for them, it can sometimes take work. The good news is that it’s certainly not impossible, and the way to get there might just be to fake it ’til you make it. There are certain ways to trick yourself into feeling more confident, and we talked to a body confidence coach to learn them all.

INSIDER spoke with body confidence coach Michelle Elman. Michelle uses social media to share advice with her followers on how to feel more confident every day. Her Instagram page (@scarrednotscared) is full of inspiring quotes that aren’t cheesy, along with real photos of herself that promote body acceptance and positivity.

We asked Elman for her best tips for feeling confident and body positive.

Think about the days you did feel confident

Just like we all have moments where we feel down on ourselves, we also all have moments where we look in the mirror and think, "Dang, I look good." On the days you're not feeling super confident, try to remember that one time you did.

Think about how you felt and channel that energy. Michelle told INSIDER, "Ask yourself one simple question: 'How would I be acting right now if I was feeling great?' What would you be doing, how would you be standing, how would you be breathing?"

Try to get yourself into that mindset again, or at least pretend you're there.

Adjust your posture

Amy Cuddy's wildly popular Ted Talk from 2012 explained the way your posture affects how you feel, using "power poses" as a tip to increase self-confidence. Slumping can make you feel more sad, while sitting up straight and holding your head high can make you feel instantly more powerful.

Michelle told INSIDER something similar: "Changing how you are positioning your body tricks your mind into holding the emotion that you would hold in a more upright posture." The next time you're feeling particularly down, try correcting your posture.

Repeat a positive affirmation

Keeping a positive affirmation tucked away in your mind is always a good idea — pulling it out when you need it can help you feel good about yourself. Think of something that works for you. You can look for ideas online or just think up something on your own.

The phrase definitely doesn't need to be complicated or long. Michelle told INSIDER, "When I feel scared, I say, 'You've got this.'"

Simple as that. Repeat it in your head until you actually feel it.

Razer’s crazy ‘Project Linda’ concept turns a powerful smartphone into an entire laptop

When Razer isn't busy making gorgeous laptops and colorful mice, it's notorious for bizarre experiments that it unveils annually during the International Consumer Electronics Show, better known as CES, in January.

This year is no exception — behold, "Project Linda":

Razer Project Linda Front Tilted with Atheris

Yes, that is a laptop powered by a smartphone. And not just any phone, but Razer's smartphone of course. Pretty crazy, no? That's just for starters!

REVIEW: The new Razer Phone looks out of place in 2017, but it has one great feature that no other phone has

As you can see here, Project Linda isn't a laptop or a phone — it's a laptop-shaped dock for Razer's phone.

But when you insert the phone, it becomes the touchpad you'd normally have on a laptop — like so:

In all other ways, Project Linda is basically a laptop. It's got a big screen, a full keyboard, and a touchpad for mousing around (the aforementioned phone screen).

Light KeyboardAs smartphones have become more ubiquitous, the number of things they can actually do has expanded.

There's a whole industry devoted to making add-ons for the computer in your pocket, and while a good chunk of them aren't exactly necessary for day-to-day life, they're often fun and creative enough to be worth it for the right niche of people.

No one device gets more of these weird little add-ons than the iPhone, so here are a few accessories for Apple's flagship device that we enjoy, even if they aren't totally practical.

This article was original published on 6/13/2016 and has been updated.

DON'T MISS: 20 must-have tech accessories under $20

Attachable shutter button

If you're looking for a way to protect your phone and bring back memories from your old point-and-shoot camera days, consider the SNAP! 7 by bitplay. The case is made out of shock-absorbing material to help your iPhone from the perils of the laws of physics, and the physical shutter button works with the default camera app. The SNAP! 7 also has a grip, which should help cut down on your number of blurry photos.

bitplay SNAP! 7, $49.99, available at Amazon

Attachable camera lens

Speaking of interchangeable lenses, Loha Life's solution lets you take macro and wide-angle shots on the go with a level of detail that the iPhone's default shooter can't quite match. This is a newer entry in the add-on market, but it's got stellar reviews on Amazon, it comes with a lifetime warranty, and it works with Android phones too.

LOHA Premium Camera Lens, $14.96, available at Amazon

Breathalyzer

Moving to something you hopefully never have to use in the office, the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer is exactly what you'd expect: a sensor for measuring how drunk you are that wirelessly delivers its results to an app on your iOS (or Android) device. Stellar Amazon reviews appear to back its claim of using "police-grade" sensor tech, so it looks like a more streamlined way to figure out which weekend nights will require a taxi.

BACtrack Mobile Smartphone Breathalyzer, $94.93, available at Amazon

Google CES booth

  • Google's booth at CES 2018 was forced to close on Tuesday due to heavy rains that caused flooding.
  • The booth should open again Wednesday if everything dries out.
  • Las Vegas residents say the city hasn't seen rain in 121 days, but it's coming down nonstop on the first full day of CES.

LAS VEGAS — It's so rainy in Las Vegas that Google was forced to close down its booth at the 2018 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Tuesday.

Google had planned a preview of its booth for press at 8 a.m. local time Tuesday, but was forced to close up shop completely after the booth flooded. Google's entire booth is now covered in tarps, with employees using buckets to bail out water off the back balcony.

A representative outside the booth said Google plans to open the booth again Wednesday morning, provided everything dries out before then.

Google wasn't the only victim of the heavy rain. The parking lot of Harrah's Las Vegas casino is now a massive flood zone:

Here's Google's booth as of about 10 a.m. PT:

The whole booth is covered in layers of tarps to keep out the rain.

We definitely won't be trying out this cool twisty slide today.

There might even be standing water inside, since people inside the booth were pouring buckets of water off the back balcony.

15 facts you didn't know about Disney characters

mulan

  • Maleficent and Cinderella's evil stepmother are the same person.
  • Elsa isn't the only Disney princess with supernatural powers – there's one other.
  • Walt Disney almost cut the classic spaghetti scene from "Lady and the Tramp."

Mickey Mouse was almost named Mortimer

When Walt Disney suggested the name to his wife, Lillian, she didn’t think the name matched the character’s personality. He later came up with Mickey Mouse, and the rest is history. Mortimer Mouse eventually became Mickey’s taller, more arrogant nemesis, sporadically appearing in print and short films since 1936.

Mickey and Minnie have the same birthday

In 1933, Walt Disney stated that Mickey’s birthday was October 1, 1928, since that was “the day on which his first picture was started,” waltdisney.org reports. But in 1978, Dave Smith, founder of the Disney Archives, changed the date to November 18, 1928, the premiere of Steamboat Willie. The 1928 animated short officially debuted Mickey and Minnie Mouse to the world, which meant that date was Minnie’s birthday, too. Check out these inspiring Walt Disney quotes that’ll motivate you to dream big.

Several Disney characters have stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

On November 18, 1978, Mickey Mouse became not only the first Disney character to get a star, but the first ever cartoon character to get one. Six more stars have since been awarded to Disney characters: Snow White (1987), Kermit the Frog (2002), Donald Duck (2004), Winnie the Pooh (2006), Tinker Bell (2010), and The Muppets (2012).

12 surprisingly normal things Meghan Markle won't be able to do when she becomes a royal

  • Meghan Markle's life will change quite a bit once she's officially a member of the royal family
  • From selfies to nail polish choices, here are 12 "commoner" habits Meghan Markle will have to give up once she becomes a royal.

There is a lot of talk about how Meghan Markle‘s life will be turned upside-down when she marries Prince Harry. But aside from her exponentially larger fame and a new set of in-laws, the 36-year-old actress has to worry about a slew of traditions and rules that the Royal Family has been following for centuries.

To follow Markle on her journey to becoming a duchess, we rounded up 12 “commoner” habits that she will no longer be allowed to do when her and Harry tie the knot. From no longer being able to take selfies to the new pose she has to adapt when sitting in a chair, here is a snapshot into the strict Royal Family etiquette rules Markle will need to follow, come May 2018.

Take selfies

Cute dog-face filters (like the one pictured) will be a thing of the past for Markle when she becomes a duchess. And it looks like, she's already practicing this rule. On her first official event with Prince Harry, the actress revealed that she is no longer allowed to take selfies with fans when a couple asked for a picture with her. “We’re not allowed to do selfies," she reportedly told the couple.

The rule was established to encourage people to make eye contact and conversation with royals, instead of turning their backs to them (a huge no-no) to take a selfie. “Turning your back to the Duke and Duchess and taking a selfie is discouraged if at all possible. I know it's fun to do, but they much would rather see your face," Jennifer Gehmair, a Royal Family etiquette expert, told Smooth Radio.

Sign autographs

In the same vein as selfie-taking, Markle will no longer be allowed to sign autographs when she becomes a royal. The rule stems from a fear that autographs will lead people to forge their signatures, which is why they're only allowed to sign royal documents and sometimes, visitors' books, according to The Royal U.K., a website dedicated to the family.

In 2010, this rule was broken by Prince Charles who scribbled "Charles 2010" on a piece of paper for a family whose home was destroyed by a natural disaster, according to Daily Mail.  He reportedly apologized for his "shaky writing" because he "never writes standing up."

Use social media

Markle's social media, including her Twitter and Instagram, have been inactive for months. As you might expect, she will no longer be able to use her own personal accounts. Instead, like Prince HarryWilliam, and Kate Middleton, she will use the family's Kensington Royal account to share updates on her life and royal happenings. The account is where the family shared her engagement pictures and announcement.

The 7 worst mistakes you can make during a career change

$

woman thinking concentrating meeting work

  • Mid-life, or drastic, career changes are possible — if you avoid common mistakes.
  • You shouldn't change careers simply for monetary purposes.
  • Always research the field you're interested in, and take time to think before making a rash decision.
  • Avoid going back to school prematurely, and don't neglect your networking.

Changing careers is never easy—but it is absolutely possible. Just because you're on a dedicated career path doesn't mean you have to stay on it forever.

Sure, your family and friends may think you've lost your marbles when you announce plans for a midlife career change, but take heart: 59% of working adults say they're interested in taking the leap, according to a recent survey from the University of Phoenix School of Business.

Whether you're bored at work, burned out on a job, or simply want a fresh challenge, there are a number of considerations that go into a successful career change. Ignore them, and you're apt to succumb to one of the following common mistakes.

SEE ALSO: 8 apps that can help you wow your boss, manage your time, and get that promotion

1. Making a rash decision

Before changing occupations, you should do a deep dive to assess why you want to leave your current one. "You need to invest time to figure out why you're dissatisfied and what's going to make you more satisfied going forward," says Deborah Oronzio, a career-transition coach.

Ask yourself why you're unhappy—and answer honestly. You may simply be having a bad week or a bad month—or you may just hate your boss, not your industry.

"We all go through phases of unhappiness with our jobs," says Randy Block, an executive coach and staffing consultant. "You should be running toward something, not running away from something."

2. Choosing a new career based on salary

You obviously need to be financially strategic when choosing your next career, but don't base your decision solely on earning potential.

"If you take a high-paying job that doesn't match your interests, values, or strengths, you're not going to be happy," says Holly Genser. Would you be happy being paid more money to do a job you aren't into? Maybe at first, but the novelty will likely wear off sooner than later.

It's not that you should disregard salary when evaluating your options, but you must consider other important factors—like work-life balance and room for growth—in addition to compensation

3. Not researching the job market in your next field

Not sure what field you want to go into? Research industries and positions to find a good match for your skills and career goals, Genser says. Otherwise, you're throwing darts in the dark.

You can view job growth projections using the Bureau of Labor Statistics' occupational outlook handbook. Who knows, you might discover a field with above-average job growth that's perfect for your skill set, but something you never considered doing.
