Parade to celebrate the Browns' perfectly horrible season — and raise money for charity — produced some great signs and photos

Browns fans

On Saturday Cleveland Browns fans held a parade to celebrate their 2017 season.

It was far from an ideal year for the Browns — in fact, it was as bad a season can go in the NFL, with Cleveland failing to win a single game in the 2017 campaign, finishing the year 0-16 and falling to a record of 1-31 over the past two years.

Over a decade removed from a winning season, you might think they had little to celebrate, and you'd be right. But the parade wasn't simply a tribute to a season to ineptitude — for some fans, it was a chance at catharsis after a year without the sweet relief of a win. And in the process, Browns fans raised over $17,000 for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, a donation that will provide over 70,000 meals to those in need.

Take a look below to see some of the best signs and photos of the parade, and if you can find it in your heart, send some positive vibes to any struggling Cleveland fans you may have in your life.

The parade went around the Browns stadium and attracted around 2,500 to 3,200 people according to estimates.

For a team that didn't win a game all season, it was quite a crowd.

It was a cold day in Cleveland, and somewhat depressingly, even the weather seemed to know the Browns had gone 0-16.

4 trainers share their favorite cheat day meals

Sticking to a new diet or nutrition plan can be challenging. And if your New Year's resolution included improving your diet, you're probably missing a few of your favorite foods right about now.

But eating healthy doesn't have to be about cutting out everything you love. Even the top trainers — who make a living by being in shape — occasionally indulge in their favorite cheat meals.

INSIDER talked with four fitness influencers who work hard in the gym, but also splurge on nachos, pizza, and buttercream frosting.

Autumn Calabrese has a weakness for Italian food.

Beachbody super trainer and creator of 80 Day Obsession, Autumn Calabrese, has motivated millions of people to exercise and eat healthier. But when she wants to cut loose, Calabrese told INSIDER that she likes to saddle up to pepperoni pizza and a good glass of cabernet.

And with a dad who owned Italian restaurants most of her life, it’s easy to see why Calabrese would pick a slice of pie as her favorite.

Jennifer Giamo loves cookie dough.

Jennifer Giamo, Aaptivtrainer and owner of Trainers in Transittold INSIDER that as a fitness professional, she tends to eat healthy about 90% of the time. The other 10% is reserved for cheat meals.

"This doesn't mean I go completely off the rails and eat bacon double cheeseburgers. It means that I balance out my really clean eating with an occasional indulgence," she told INSIDER.

However, she does employ a few strategies when doing this. First, she plans ahead and knows exactly what her treat is going to be for that week. Second, it must be something that she absolutely LOVES but doesn't fit into her healthy diet on a regular basis. Lastly, she maintains portion control.

"When I do indulge, it's almost always with carbs," Giamo told INSIDER. "It will be either a slice of pizza from my favorite pizza place, an everything bagel with cream cheese, avocado, and tomato, or if I'm in the mood for something sweet it can be chocolate chip cookie dough."

Katie Chung Hua puts her pasta cravings to good use.

Katie Chung Hua,Bodybuilding.comTEAM athlete says she loves a good heavy meal, like pasta with all the sauce. And like many people who stick to a regular exercise program, Chung Hua told INSIDER that she doesn’t feel too bad about indulging because she can go get a heavy lift in afterward and put all the extra calories to good use.

The Trump administration has ended protections for immigrants from 4 countries — here’s when they will have to leave the US

  • Immigrants from 10 countries currently receive temporary protected status (TPS), which allows them to live and work legally in the US.
  • The Trump administration has recently announced plans to terminate TPS for 4 of those countries.
  • Here's when they are expected to end.

During a bipartisan meeting on immigration Thursday, President Donald Trump criticized protections the US gives to immigrants from various underdeveloped countries, including Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to two people The Washington Post reported were briefed on the meeting.

The president's comments come days after the Trump administration announced that it would end temporary protection status (TPS) granted to nearly 262,000 Salvadorans, forcing them to leave the US or face deportation unless they're able to get a visa or permit to allow them to continue living in the country legally.

TPS recipients by country

The program's termination was delayed by 18 months to give those affected sufficient time to arrange plans.

Since President George H.W. Bush signed the Immigration Act of 1990 into law, the US government has allowed immigrants from certain countries affected by armed conflict, environmental disaster, or other extraordinary conditions to reside and work legally in the US until it is safe for them to return home.

In recent months, the Department of Homeland Security has announced that it will end TPS for four countries, including El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Sudan, at various upcoming dates.

Immigrants from six other countries currently receive TPS, but it is unclear whether the Trump administration plans to end their protections.

Here's when each group's protected status will end:

Sudan: November 2, 2018

In September, then acting DHS secretary Elaine Duke decided to end TPS for Sudan, citing improved conditions in the country.

About 1,050 people benefit from TPS. Sudan was first added in 1999 based on security concerns amid ongoing violence in that country.

Nicaragua: January 5, 2019

TPS for roughly 5,300 Nicaraguans expired on January 5, but the program won't officially end until early 2019 since the Trump administration delayed its termination by 12 months.

The DHS first granted temporary residency to Nicaraguans in 1999 following the devastation wreaked throughout Central America by Hurricane Mitch.

Haiti: July 22, 2019

In November, the DHS announced it would end TPS for nearly 59,000 Haitian immigrants after they were allowed to stay in the US following a massive earthquake in their home country that killed at least 100,000 people in 2010.

As part of the move, DHS allowed an 18-month window for those affected to prepare to leave the country or apply for extended residency.

grey's anatomy

If you're a "Grey's Anatomy" fan, you know more than anyone that watching just one episode of the series is a roller coaster of emotions. But nothing leaves a fan more rattled than the death of a major character.

Though many of the people that have been killed off of the series on episodes past are alive and thriving in real life today, we still cried real tears while watching some of their last moments on the show.

Keep reading to see what some of your favorite "Grey's" characters have been up to since their on-screen deaths.

Danielle Jackson contributed to a previous version of this story.

George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) was the first major casualty of the series.

After telling his fellow doctors at Seattle Grace he'd be leaving the hospital to join the army, George died at the very beginning of season six after jumping in front of a bus to save a young woman.

Since leaving the show, Knight has had guest roles on episodes of "Law and Order: SVU" and CBS's "The Good Wife."

He most recently appeared on Hulu original series "11.22.63" and National Geographic's anthology miniseries "Genius." He'll be back for the network's second season which will follow Pablo Picasso.

Kate Burton made recurring appearances on the series as Ellis Grey, Meredith’s no-nonsense mother who was basically a legend in the medical world.

Ellis suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and died of a heart attack on season three.

11 things in your bathroom that it's time to throw away

sunscreen on the face of a girl at the beach

It's tough to keep track of the ever-changing stock of items in your medicine cabinet. Before you know it, those little shelves might end up full of ineffective and expired products that should probably be thrown in the trash.

To keep things under control, experts recommend taking a hard look at your medicine cabinet pretty frequently.

"I tell people, when you change your clocks, go through your medicine cabinet,"Heather Free, PharmD, AAHIVP, spokesperson for the American Pharmacists Association, said.

Ready to clean out the worst offenders? Here's when experts say you should toss 11 popular items.

1. A toothbrush that's more than four months old

The American Dental Association (ADA) says it's best to replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed.

There's not enough evidence to say that germs on an old toothbrush can make you sick, the ADA notes. But a worn-down toothbrush will clean your teeth less effectively.

2. Toothpaste that's several years old

Expired toothpaste isn't dangerous to use, but if it's really old — think several years past its printed expiration date — its fluoride may not work properly anymore, dentist Joel H. Berg told the New York Times. Its consistency could also change after a while, making it tough to squeeze out of the tube.

3. Any expired sunscreen

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that all sunscreens keep their original strength for three years. After that, there's no guarantee that the product will protect your skin from harmful UV radiation. It might still work — but you don't want to risk a painful sunburn to find out.

The AAD recommends getting rid of any sunscreen that's past the expiration date printed on the packaging. If there's no date listed, toss the sunscreen after three years. Also replace any sunscreen that's changed in color or consistency since you purchased it.

Our gambling guide to the best bets for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs

$

Eagles

After an exciting weekend of Wild Card action, just eight teams remain in the battle to become Super Bowl champions.

More importantly for the gambling public, there's just seven games of professional football remaining before we have to resort to gambling on basketball and baseball as we wait for the 2018 preseason. Thankfully, as the slates get shorter, our gambling options grow far wider, with props and side bets available on every game remaining on the NFL schedule.

Last week we went 3-1 against the spread as every underdog was able to cover the number, with two of them winning outright. Unfortunately, our prop bet picks were slightly less successful, resulting in our winnings being cut down to a meager $65. That said, had Marcus Mariota completed one more pass and Tyrod Taylor gained just one more yard rushing, we'd be sitting pretty with $275 in our pockets. I'm not crying over lost wages, but rather trying to take comfort in the fact that it feels like we're trending in the right direction.

All that said, let's get to the bets for the Divisional Round! There's several intriguing matchups on the board and plenty of prop bets for those feeling lucky.

Below are our best bets for this weekend of NFL action. All lines come courtesy of the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook.

Atlanta Falcons (-3) at Philadelphia Eagles (Saturday, 4:35 p.m. ET)

The bet: Eagles +3 ($110 to win $100)

The logic: I'm an Eagles fan by trade so take this with a grain of salt — I won't deny I'm a homer when it comes to this team. The Eagles looked less than impressive in their past two games with Nick Foles at quarterback, but I have reason to believe their the right side in this one.

First off, Philadelphia has had two weeks to prepare for this game. Had the team looked good at the end of the season, I would fear that they come out looking rusty. Instead, I think they come out inspired — with the extra reps Foles will hopefully look reasonable under center, and if the rest of the team can play strong around him, I don't see Foles throwing them out of the game.

But more importantly, I think the conversation around the Falcons heading into this game has become too comfortable. One win over a Rams team that hadn't seen the playoffs in ages and now everyone seems to think that the Falcons are destined for another trip to the Super Bowl. I don't buy it. Atlanta is a strong team, but they do have flaws. Plus, this might be my last chance of the season to bet a home underdog, and I'm not going to miss it.

Will Julio Jones score a touchdown?

The bet: Yes, Julio Jones will score a touchdown ($50 to win $75)

The logic: I thought these odds were way too low at first, but looking at the numbers, Jones found the end zone in just two games throughout the entirety of the regular season. Still, I'm taking him to score in Philly on Saturday — he was able to reel one in last week against the Rams, and it serves as a reasonable hedge should the Eagles fall apart.

Over/Under 4.5 total sacks for both teams

The bet: Over 4.5 total sacks ($50 to win $60)

The logic: Between the relative immobility of Nick Foles and the power of Philadelphia's defensive front, it feels like either team could get five sacks on their own in this one. Getting both teams combined feels like easy money.

10 riddles you can only solve if you're really smart

confused owl

These riddles aren't for the weak.

They're certainly not the first puzzles of their kind to stump the internet, but they're sure to give your brain a workout.

Here are 10 tough riddles that you might be able to get right on your first try if you really know what you're doing.

"Einstein's Riddle" asks a simple question: Who owns the fish?

Legend has it that Albert Einstein made up this riddle when he was a kid.

Five houses painted five different colors stand in a row. One person of a different nationality lives in each house. The five home owners all drink some type of beverage, smoke a certain cigar brand, and have a certain kind of pet. But none of the owners drink the same beverage, smoke the same type of cigar, or have the same pet.

Using the 15 clues above, can you figure out who owns the fish?

Solving the riddle is as simple as mapping out the variables. Our sister site Business Insider has a full explanation of the answer.

Can you figure out the answer to the fourth equation?

The way to solve this is to figure out what numbers the symbols represent.

Start with the first equation: three shoe symbols added together equals 30, meaning that the shoe symbol represents the number 10.

Then 10 + C + C = 20, so each cat represents the number 5.

Watch out though — not all of the cats are the same.

You can read a full explanation of how to solve the riddle from Reader's Digest here.

Which cup would be filled with coffee first?

If you look closely, you can see that all of the pipes in the image are blocked except for the ones leading to cup number five.

The secret to telling a joke and getting on HBO, according to 'Crashing' stars Pete Holmes and Jamie Lee

Pete Holmes Jaime Lee HBO Crashing jokes advice.JPG

CHICAGO — Telling funny jokes is hard. Creating a hit HBO series is harder. How do you do it?

Business Insider caught up with Pete Holmes and Jamie Lee on Thursday while they were in Chicago to promote season two of "Crashing," the HBO series executive-produced by Judd Apatow about making it in standup — or, in Holmes' words, "the worst parts of standup."

Daniel McMahon: What's the secret to telling a good joke?

Pete Holmes: Meaning it. [Laughs] I asked Glen Hansard, from the movie "Once" and the band The Frames, because he really belts out his songs, and I was, like, "How do you not lose your voice?" And he said, "Meaning it." And I think there's something about the great comedians I've seen — and just great joke tellers — that they are really in the joke.

They're not thinking about the end, they're not thinking about the middle or the beginning. They're just kind of right there with you. And I think that's what people connect to and makes them feel safe to laugh.

Jamie Lee: Right before I go onstage, I try to get really psyched about myself. Like, I allow myself to have a really almost narcissistic wave take over, where not only is what I have to say really important, but I'm psyched to say it. I think it helps. It's a little "fake it till you make it." But when you go onstage it's, like, "Boy, are you guys in for a treat."

Holmes: Can I add to that? First of all, it's in Judy Carter's book, which we both read. It's not her exact point, but she said you should get onstage or tell a joke or talk to a stranger as if you're seeing a friend you've been waiting to see all day. And I think that's wonderful.

When I used to work the road, I remember I used to ask myself in the mirror, literally, like in a movie, back when I was not very good at all, I'd say, "What's it like being the greatest comedian in the world?" Like in an interview, like this, I'd imagine you, Daniel, asking me, "What's it like being the greatest comedian in the world?" And it would get me into that necessary confidence. Not cockiness, but certainty. And people love certainty. They love following certain people. A joke is a journey, and you're taking them on it.

Lee: When you're onstage you're a Sherpa, and if you make them feel like you're someone they can trust, whatever you're saying almost melts away. It's an attitude.

Holmes: That's why you can laugh at a comedian who you don't agree with, or you think they're offensive. In that moment you can be swept away.

McMahon: So now you've made it on HBO —

Holmes: And HBO GO!

Lee: I'm only excited to be on HBO GO.

McMahon: What advice would you give to comedians or artists trying to make it?

Holmes: You have to do something that kind of doesn't make sense. One is, have goals, like being on HBO or being in a movie or having a book or being in a museum, whatever it might be. And also forget those goals and focus on the day-to-day, that moment. What are you doing with this crowd, with this project, and don't get too caught up with "Have I made it?""Do I have enough respect or money or prestige?" But at the same time, know where you're aiming, but once you're up in the sky, just know that you're heading in the right direction. That's all that matters.

Lee: When you're starting out, you should just focus on getting good and getting to a place where you feel confident and self-assured, because that does take a while to feel that genuinely. But at a certain point you should just start saying what you want out loud, because for me, I was always kind of embarrassed to admit, for example, that I always wanted to act. I was, like, "No! Ew! Acting!" Like, "I don't want to go down that path. That sounds like a nightmare." But the second I started allowing myself to admit the things that I wanted, I feel like they did start to happen more. I think people should say the things they want and try to not feel shame about them.

Holmes: Green-light your desires and your goals. Keep them to yourself. And just sweep the floor.

BI Graphics_13 best places to travel in March (1)

  • Travelers are already making plans for their March vacations.
  • Business Insider looked at airfare trends, climate data, and peak travel times to find the best places to visit in March 2018.
  • The travel destinations include tropical beaches, energetic festivals, and natural wonders.

We've just kicked off a new year, but forward-thinking travelers are already planning their springtime vacations.

March offers an array of great travel experiences around the world, from breathtaking glimpses of flourishing nature on the Galapagos Islands to the colorful celebration of Holi in Mumbai.

Best yet, in many places March is the start of "shoulder season"— the period between the high and low seasons of a vacation destination — meaning you'll be able to find an affordable vacation no matter your travel style.

Business Insider looked at airfare trends, climate data, and peak travel times to figure out which vacation spots should be on your radar.

Read on to find 13 destinations you won't want to miss in March:

DON'T MISS: I've traveled to 24 countries — here are the American stereotypes I heard all over the world

Austin, Texas

March is the perfect time to travel to Texas's quirky capital. The weather's balmy, flights are cheap, and you can catch two decidedly Texan events: the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo and the world-famous South by Southwest music and media festivals.

Palm Springs, California

The desert resort city of Palm Springs, California, is another American hotspot that's ideal to visit in March.

Temperatures in the 70s and low 80s Fahrenheit make for perfect hiking conditions on the numerous trails — just two months later and the mercury will reach triple digits. Nearby Joshua Tree National Park offers some of the most rugged, spectacular views of nature and wildlife you'll see in the United States.

And if you're not the outdoorsy type, you're sure to find comfort cooling off by the pool or pampering yourself in a spa.

St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Mild weather and low rainfall make March the optimal time to visit this Caribbean gem with an affinity for rum.

Indulge in the island's stunning tropical beaches, go whale-watching on the north shore, and be sure to check out historical sites like the Columbus Landing Site, the only known location where members of a Christopher Columbus expedition set foot on what is now US soil.

And if you plan your trip right, you can take part in the raucous St. Patrick's Day parade in Christiansted — one of the only celebrations of the Irish holiday you'll find in all the Caribbean.

With below freezing temperatures and harsh conditions like snow and ice, this winter has been brutal, so far. Having the appropriate footwear and apparel to handle the season is very important.

Cole Haan is known for its comfortable shoes for comfortable and casual wear, but the brand is now taking on creating rugged footwear built for extreme weather.

To do so, the brand sought out expert wisdom of award-winning and history-making professional alpine climber Freddie Wilkinson to make the GrandExpløre Alpine Hiker Collection. Even with a technical design, the boots maintain the comfort and style Cole Haan is known for.

Coming in leather and suede options for men and women, the Cole Haan GrandExpløre Hiker Boots are designed to be lightweight, fully waterproof and ultra-insulated. Influenced by professional mountain climbers who face the world’s most severe conditions, Cole Haan's Innovation Team aimed to craft a stunning hiker that could withstand the elements of extreme temperatures and terrains, and the GrandExpløre is exactly that. Even as a fully functional outdoors boot, the GrandExpløre easily transitions from the mountains to the street for warm casual style.

Cole HaanIn the past, I tested the Cole Haan 2.ZERØGRAND Wingtip Oxford and was more than happy to find the comfort of a sneaker in a shoe that could be worn to the office. When Cole Haan announced the release of the GrandExpløre Hikers I was excited to give them a try, too.

While I wasn't expecting the GrandExpløre Hikers to be as comfortable as sneakers, they are more much comfortable than any other winter boot I own.

There are many brands that make durable waterproof boots suitable for the winter, but there are few that do it in a lightweight shoe. Most other winter boots are heavy on-feet, so the weather must really call for wearing them. With the Cole Haan GrandExpløre Waterproof Hiker Boots, you can wear them all day whether you're dressing casually or scaling snowy mountains.

I went with Chestnut colorway, which features a dark brown leather upper, dark tan suede on the tongue, durable D-ring lace eyelets, and bold accenting red laces. The combination of materials and colors make for a genuine Hiker look. Aside from the amazing style, what I like most about the boots is the outsole. Much like other Cole Haan shoes, they feature Grand.ØS technology, which allows for flexible, more natural motion of the feet.

If you're looking for a stylish footwear that can handle cold and wet conditions, the Cole Haan GrandExpløre Waterproof Hiker Boots are for you.

Shop the entire Cole Haan GrandExpløre collection, now.

In addition to the collection of shoes for men and women, Cole Haan teamed up with acclaimed outdoor clothing and equipment maker Mountain Hardwear on a winterized Parka to complete your winter gear essentials.

14 optical illusions you can actually visit in real life

Trick Eye Museum South Korea

People seem to love optical illusions.

There are the ones that make the rounds on the Internet —many of which end up going viral—and the ones that are created using just makeup.

And then there are the ones that you can actually visit IRL — natural sites, museums, and tourist attractions.

We rounded up 13 of the best optical illusions worth traveling for, from a mirror maze in California to an infinite tunnel of books in China to a gravity hill in Scotland.

Yangzhou Zhongshuge, Yangzhou, China

Book worms will love this library and store in China. One of its rooms boasts black mirrored floors and curved shelves that reach up to the ceiling, creating the illusion that this "tunnel" of books stretches on indefinitely.

Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, Edinburgh, Scotland

Pretty much every exhibit in this museum is dedicated to optical illusions. There's everything from the shrinking room (pictured above) to the mirrors maze and vortex tunnel.

The shrinking room is commonly known as an Ames Room, named after American ophthamologist Adelbert Ames, Jr., who created the first such room in 1946. When seen from a certain viewpoint (through a pinhole), the room appears cubic, even though it's actually shaped like a trapezoid, meaning its walls slant outward and its floor is on an incline. The room's far left corner is lower than the near right corner, which is why someone standing in one corner looks bigger than someone standing in another corner. This is also why someone in the room appears to be shrinking as they walk across the room.

Click here to see what it's like to visit the trippy attraction.

Pedra do Telégrafo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Tourists who take photos at Brazil's Pedra do Telégrafo look like they're risking their lives, but in reality, they're only standing a mere three feet or so off the ground.

However, if you frame the photo just right, you'll be able to get the cliff and the ocean below, but not the ground underneath the cliff, creating the illusion that you're on the edge of a major drop.

Oprah Winfrey Stedman Graham

• Oprah Winfrey began dating Stedman Graham in 1986, the same year her namesake show launched.

• Winfrey and Graham got engaged in 1992, but ultimately decided against marriage.

• Graham's suggestion that Winfrey run for president at the 2018 Golden Globes isn't the first time he's encouraged her to enter the realm of politics.

Interest in media mogul Oprah Winfrey's hypothetical 2020 presidential run is surging.

Even US President Donald Trump has weighed in. While Trump asserted he'd beat Winfrey, in past years he said the former queen of daytime talk would be his ideal running mate, Business Insider reported.

Still, Winfrey's well-received Golden Globes speech, which touched upon the #MeToo movement, the free press, and the importance of combatting injustice, has catapulted her name to the forefront of this early presidential speculation.

And her longtime partner Stedman Graham's comments to the The Los Angeles Times also helped fuel widespread interest in her political prospects.

Graham, who runs management and marketing consulting firm S. Graham and Associates, has been with Winfrey for 32 years.

Here's a look inside their relationship:

But that didn't deter Winfrey. According to People, in the early days of their relationship, Graham would spend weekends at her "lavish condo on Chicago's Gold Coast," and even began leaving a toothbrush there.

7 down-to-earth quotes that shed light on how Mark and Tiffany Cuban make marriage work

Mark Cuban Tiffany wife

• Mark and Tiffany Cuban may be worth billions, but their relationship is low-key and, for the most part, out of the spotlight.

• The "Shark Tank" star and the former advertising executive first met at the gym in 1997.

• Their own words help to paint a picture of their marriage, from their philosophy on parenthood to Tiffany's lack of enthusiasm over her husband's political ambitions.

"Shark Tank" star and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and his wife Tiffany are worth billions, but their meet-cute story is refreshingly relatable.

The entrepreneur and the former advertising executive met at the gym in 1997. They dated for years, and ultimately wed in 2002 in an intimate ceremony in Barbados.

The Cubans are currently worth $3.3 billion, according to Forbes, and have three children.

Here are a few quotes that succinctly illustrate their down-to-earth marriage of 15 years:

SEE ALSO: A look inside the marriage of billionaire investor Mark Cuban and his wife Tiffany, who met at the gym, are worth $3.3 billion, and insist he won't run for president

Back before the couple tied the knot in 2002, they were candid with the press about their reluctance to prematurely marry. "It's such a serious commitment," Cuban told The New York Times in 2000.

Tiffany also spoke to The New York Times about some of the "scheduling problems" fueled by her then-boyfriend's work ethic — and late-night computer use. "He can't turn it off," she said. "He just can't!"

But certain strategies helped the couple overcome pain points. In a 2012 interview with NBC 5, Tiffany revealed that she often avoids sitting with her husband at Mavericks games, due to his tendency to yell a lot in the stands. "I have fewer headaches," she said. "It's a business to him... I can still be a fan and watch it from my seat and experience it like a fan."
