5 ways to find a good-quality bra — and keep it that way

does my bra fit me 2

Women have been wearing bras since the roaring '20s, so you would think by now we would have figured out how to find, wear, adjust, and wash them properly. But alas, problems finding and keeping a good bra continue to be a thing even in the 21st century.

Once you find a good bra, however, it obviously won't last forever. Since it's such a needle in a haystack, it's important to make it last as long as you can.

We've rounded up some ways to find a good bra — and make it last as long as possible.

Find the right bra size for you.

Unfortunately, most women are wearing a band size too big and a cup size too small, according to Laura Tempesta, founder of the bra education and sports bra review website,Bravolution.

One solution is to go to a boutique where staff can help you find the size that’s best for your body, according to Dora Lau, founder of Curvy Couture. And if you’re at the store, it’s a good idea to try it on to test it out and make sure it’s right for you.

You want to make sure the band is snug. You can check by looking at the underband in the back. If it looks like a frown and is riding up, Tempesta said, then it is too big.

You’ll also want to see how far out you can pull the underband when it is clasped at the loosest setting. If it’s more than one inch, the underband is too big. Go down one underband size Tempesta added.

"The center front gore (triangle of fabric in the center front of the bra) should sit right against your sternum. If it doesn't, the cups are too small or the fit of this particular bra isn't a good match to your body," Tempesta told INSIDER.

Make sure the straps stay up.

One reason they may be falling is that your straps should NOT be adjusted to the same length on both sides, Tempesta told INSIDER. The reason is that most women have one shoulder that is higher than the other. If you were to adjust them to the same length on both sides, it would mean that one strap will always be falling off of your shoulder.

Once you’ve figured out the proper adjustments for your shoulders, pull on them. If you can pull them up more than an inch, the straps are too stretchy and this is not a good-quality bra.

If you are still experiencing problems with your straps falling down even after adjusting as directed above, you should look for a bra with straps that sit closer to the neck. It’s likely that you have sloping shoulders, according to Tempesta.

Wash them correctly.

It's possible that the way you are washing and drying your bra is actually causing them more damage than you realize.

"Lingerie uses more delicate fibers and elastics that cannot tolerate the level of heat in hot water, the dryer or an iron. Using harsh detergents to launder a bra, such as bleach, will damage the bra beyond repair," Lau told INSIDER.

She also said that washing a bra too often can result in damaged fabric and fibers or too infrequently can result in permanent stains from oils from skin, creams, lotions, and perfume that cannot be removed. There is a proper way of cleaning your bras so as not to ruin them.

The best solution is to hand-wash and air-dry your bras to extend its life. If that's not an option, machine wash on cold on a gentle cycle. Make sure to hook the bra and use a lingerie bag to ensure the hooks won't snag on anything else, Lau said.

She recommended washing every two to five wears, depending on how much you sweat and whether you have sensitive skin.

10 signs that you're good in bed, according to experts

50 shades darker

The act of sex may be a normal conversation piece nowadays, but one thing that people tend to still play coy about is the topic of good sex. That may be because we’re not too sure what is technically considered "good sex" and furthermore, how to know when we're delivering it.

Bethany Ricciardi, sex expert for TooTimid, and Kevin Darné, founder of LoverAlert911.com, both confirmed to INSIDER, however, that there are indeed a few ways to put your mind at ease when it comes to knowing your status in the sack.

What happens though, if your previous partners or current partner is shy? How will you know if you’ve got the memorable moves that will always get your lover in the groove?

Here are some surefire signs that prove you have what it takes to provide pleasure in the bedroom.

Simply put, you love sex.

Everyone may have their own depictions of what good sex is, but according to Darné, a simple indicator to knowing that you’re good in bed is how much you love sex.

"You are always keeping an eye out for new and different ways to rock your mate’s world as well as enhance your own experience," he told INSIDER. "This may entail reading books, magazine articles, blogs, watching videos, or utilizing toys. You enjoy having spontaneous sex and surprises. Simply put, you want to be the best and take pride in being skillful."

Anyone who loves what they are doing is usually good at it and sex is no different.

You're open-minded and switch things up.

Ricciardi said that switching up the sex positions and never skipping foreplay can also be signs that you’re good in bed.

"I think many would agree foreplay is one of the best parts and no one wants to sleep with someone who has a routine," she told INSIDER.

You're confident in yourself.

It's often been said that confidence will take you a long way in life, and according to Ricciardi, that is also inclusive of your sex life.

"Having confidence could include you leaving the lights on, going completely nude (or wearing something super sexy)," she said. "You take control of the situation ... You're vocal; you're enthusiastic! You feel them desiring you!"

Confidence in the bedroom can turn your partner on even more because they know you aren't afraid to display your sexuality when with them.

14 brain-teasing pattern puzzles that went viral and stumped the internet

human chameleon liu bolin

Pattern puzzles are fun to figure out, give your brain a workout, and may even have some cognitive benefit.

They're kind of like optical illusions, in that they trick your eyes to keep the truth hidden from them.

Some extraordinarily well-designed ones have gone viral in the past few years, as well as some accidental ones.

Here are 14 of them that stumped the internet.

Do you see the card among the gift bags?

In a puzzle that went viral in December, a Christmas card was hidden among a set of gift bags. It came from the book "Bear's Merry Book of Hidden Things" by the Hungarian artist Gergely Dudás.

Can you find it?

Here's the solution.

The card was hidden in plain sight in the upper-right of the picture. It's the only rectangular-shaped object without a string.

Seem familiar? That's because the same artist made one with snowmen.

There's a panda hidden among the snowmen in this other Dudás illustration, which went viral in December 2015.

5 super-successful people share the one hack they use to make the most of their time

barbara corcoran

The more successful you are, the more in demand your time is. Five moguls and members of The Oracles share how they decide whom to give their time to and on what terms.

SEE ALSO: Many people stop actively learning after college — and it's hurting their success

1. Prepare helpful 'no's.'

Barbara Corcoran, founder of The Corcoran Group and Shark on "Shark Tank":

I'm constantly approached by young business owners looking for "just an hour of my time." As my time is limited, I've developed a system of helpful "no's" that give a little something and leave people feeling happy they asked.

People don't like being ignored or kept waiting. As most requests come through email, I have standard responses ready to go, including a polite thank you, an expression of appreciation, an explanation as to why I can't give it, and most importantly, a suggestion for where they can find the help they require.

Years ago, I gave my time away to just about anyone. I did the same with money! But by making everybody else happy, I wasn't able to prioritize my own goals and happiness. I learned that to accomplish what you want out of life, you must take care of yourself first.

2. Create multiple filters.

Com Mirza, CEO of Mirza Holdings:

When I get requests for funding or advice, I run people through filters to separate the serious from the curious.

First, I tell them to message me back and see if they follow up. If they don't, I stop communicating. Second, I ask them to follow up again. If they follow up both times, I ask for their request in writing to assess if it's worth my time. Third, I schedule a 10-minute phone call, where they explain their request in depth. If it's a funding request, I ask for a pitch deck or business plan usually, they don't have one, which quickly ends the discussion.

Without proper filters, people unknowingly waste your time. I appreciate those who cut to the chase but are also persistent and prepared. One guy followed up for six months, and I eventually helped him.

3. Pre-qualify, have a game plan, and take inventory.

Shaun Rawls, author, optimist, thought leader, founder, and CEO of Rawls Consulting:

Systems and structures are critical for staying on purpose, while remaining efficient and focused.

First, pre-qualify like a boss. Learn scripts and dialogues that quickly get the information you need to determine if a person has something to offer your business. A great script is like a best-selling rock song: sing it the same way every time, and it will make you a fortune.

Second, follow a game plan. Having a clear business plan will provide an initial sense of what services and people your business needs to excel going forward, making it easier to determine whom to give your time to.

Lastly, take inventory of everything and everyone. When it comes to people and tasks, they either provide good, great, negative, or even terrible energy and value. Using these four categories creates critical awareness about who and what will give you the highest return on investment.

jughead betty riverdale

Fans of Betty and Jughead were ecstatic when this "Riverdale" couple finally reunited on Wednesday's episode.

Bughead, as the couple is endearingly called by fans who "ship" the couple, hooked up again after a rough breakup.

The couple has weathered a number of storms since first coming together on season one of the hit CW drama, but it's not going to be easy.

Here's a retrospective in honor of Bughead's relationship.

Betty convinces Jughead to join the Blue and Gold, the high school newspaper, with her.

Hard to believe that Betty starts "Riverdale" with her heart set on Archie. But when she and Jughead begin to write for the school paper and investigate Jason Blossom's murder, their relationship is purely platonic. They interrogate Dilton Doiley for more information on the Blossom murder.

Jughead seems concerned when Betty says she has a "date" with someone else.

While making their "murder board," Trev interrupts Betty, Kevin, and Jughead to check in with Betty about their "date." Betty later says it's a way to get more information about Jason, but Jughead doesn't seem to like the idea.

They attend Jason's memorial together.

Jughead picks Betty up and the two head to the Blossoms' mansion. They sneak off to find Jason's room when Cheryl breaks down in tears, but stumble upon Grandma Blossom. She mistakes Betty for Polly, Betty's sister, and reveals that Polly and Jason were engaged.

Incredible photos of New York City when sheep roamed Central Park

Manhattan's Central Park has all the features of a great public space: It's car-free, features a range of flora and fauna, and anyone can access it.

Before Central Park became the landmark it is today, a 15-acre swath of the park had an unusual purpose in the 19th century.

Dubbed Sheep Meadow, the reserve hosted around 200 pedigree Southdown sheep for 70 years. Visitors would watch the flock of sheep while they grazed. The idea was to help Sheep Meadow further the mission of Central Park, envisioned by its architects as a refuge from the stresses of urban living.

Take a look at the meadow's history below:

In 1858, architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed Manhattan's Central Park, which spans 843 acres.

Olmsted and Vaux originally reserved 15 acres of the park for military drills and exhibitions. They later realized that a quiet park would probably not be the best place for this.

To make way for the new public space, the city forced Irish, German, and African-American immigrants from their homes, which were bulldozed.

In 1864, the architects persuaded park commissioners to add 200 pedigree Southdown sheep there and call the area Sheep Meadow.

The best saws you can buy to tackle projects at home

saw 4x3

The Insider Pick:

  • If you like to tackle DIY projects around the house, you're going to need a saw or two. We've rounded up the very best saws you can buy whether you need a jigsaw, chainsaw, circular saw, or table saw.

If you grew up in a house like mine, your dad had a workshop that was off-limits to the kids. But occasionally, dad would let us into the workshop to watch him work … and fetch tools for him, of course.

The old table saw always grabbed my attention. This machine’s ability to slice through wood like it was bread was fascinating. And its all-metal design, hulking cabinet, thunderous noises, and sharp blade looked unbelievably dangerous, which made it even more fascinating.

When I was a little older and it was time to learn how to saw and work with wood, unfortunately, the table saw remained off limits. I always had to use a hand saw. I didn’t necessarily like it at the time, but it was probably a smart idea. It certainly made me think about each cut more and measure accurately, as I didn’t want to have to make two hand cuts. Over the years, learning initially with hand saws has made me appreciate the power tools I own a lot more.

Large table saws still exist, but the world of saws now focuses on portability. The ability to use power saws almost anywhere makes them extremely useful tools. But they haven’t put the hand saw out of commission yet. There’s still a place for using a hand saw, whether you’re making a simple cut or you want to teach your kids about working with wood the old-fashioned way.

In our guide, we've included picks for eight different kinds of saws:

Read on in the slides below to check out our top picks for the eight most popular types of saws.

The best circular saw

Why you'll love it: The Makita 5007MGA Circular Saw offers a great level of power, versatility, and precision, making it an outstanding choice in a circular saw.

When it comes to doing simple woodworking jobs at home, having a circular saw gives you a tremendous amount of versatility. It’s more mobile than a table saw, yet it delivers plenty of power.

And while there’s nothing wrong with sawing one or two 2x4s by hand, if you have 100 to cut, you’ll be at it all day with a hand saw. On the plus side, your arm will look very buff.

Our favorite circular saw is the Makita 5007MGA. It delivers the best mix of precision and power among circular saws. It has an excellent electric brake, which will keep you safe while working. It delivers 5,800 revolutions per minute for plenty of cutting power.

Expert reviewers mostly have good things to say about the Makita saw. Pro Tool Reviews and Top Ten Reviews give the Makita 5007MGA the highest marks among circular saws, saying it’s light enough to take wherever you need to use it. And it can create deep cuts quickly, allowing you to successfully complete almost any job you need to do. Cut the Wood's reviewer liked being able to make beveled angle cuts with the saw.

Buyers love the saw, too. The Makita saw's cutting quality is impressive, according to Amazon reviewer Garrett, who says his father, who has been a professional carpenter for 40 years, also loves the quality of this circular saw.

A few buyers on Amazon say the saw blade may not run straight if you inadvertently place horizontal pressure on the blade while using it, as the blade has a bit of flexibility.

Pros: Outperforms other circular saws, includes a high quality electric brake to keep you safe while cutting, delivers angle cuts up to 56 degrees, lighter weight than other circular saws

Cons: Too much flexibility in the blade when horizontal pressure is applied, high price point

The best hand saw

Why you'll love it: Even though the design is simple, not all hand saws are created equal, and the Stanley 20-526 15-Inch Hand Saw gives you a sure cut with a comfortable handle.

As hard as it is to believe, there was a time before portable power tools existed. Wipe that look of horror off your face — it’s true! (Tell your kids there was a time before the Internet, YouTube cat videos and Instagram, and you’ll see that same look of horror.)

When it comes to sawing wood, we understand that a power saw is the fastest and most precise option. But there may be times when a hand saw will do the job for you without worrying about whether you charged the power saw’s battery.

We appreciate the simplicity of the Stanley 20-526 15-Inch Hand Saw. It offers 12 points per inch on the saw blade for efficient cutting. You’ll love the comfort of the hand grip, too, according to No Place Called Home. The comfortable grip lets you saw for as long as your muscles can handle it.

Stanley welded the handle to the blade, eliminating the need for screws that could loosen over time, which is a smart design element that Sharpen A Tool liked in its review.

Those who own the Stanley 20-526 like the way it cuts easily through 2x4s and its low price. You should note that this Stanley saw is a crosscut style of hand saw, which means it won’t make fine cuts, leaving some rough edges. Some reviewers on Amazon expressed disappointment about the rougher cuts.

Pros: Great price point for a saw, very good build quality with the handle welded to the saw blade, handle is comfortable to use for long periods, makes simple cuts quickly

Cons: Crosscut style saw leaves rough edges after cutting, more work to use than a power saw

Buy the Stanley 20-526 15-Inch Hand Saw from Home Depot for $11.78

Buy the Stanley 20-526 15-Inch Hand Saw on Amazon for $8.98

The best compound miter saw

Why you'll love it: When you have a huge stack of wood to cut, the DeWalt DWS780 12-Inch Compound Miter Saw delivers unmatched speed and accuracy.

If you ever need to cut a lot of lumber, you’ll quickly find that a lot of different tools can handle the job. But one of the best options is a compound miter saw, and the leader among these saws is the DeWalt DWS780 12-Inch Compound Miter Saw.

The DeWalt saw uses a large circular cutting blade to give it plenty of versatility. You can work through an entire stack of 2x4s in almost no time at all. A compound miter saw has a flat base on which to rest the wood, as well as an LED light to ensure a straight cut.

It also delivers cuts at many different angles with ease by tilting the blade. You can precisely set the blade for a particular angle and lock it in place, making it easy to repeat the angled cut over and over. This is a life-saver and makes a compound miter saw an amazing power tool.

Whether you’re a novice around power tools or you have several years of experience, you’ll appreciate the DeWalt DWS780 Compound Miter Saw, according to Tool Nerds. However, to gain the most benefit from this power saw, you will need to have the know-how to be able to make occasional adjustments to the unit.

The Sawist likes the built-in LED light for accuracy in cuts and the maximum 16-inch cutting width. All of these features result in a tremendous amount of cutting power, according to Pro Tool Reviews.

This DeWalt power saw carries a high price tag, and it requires a lot of storage and working space, but owners of this saw say its feature set and power easily overcome any hassles.

Pros: Ranks well above average versus other compound miter saws in terms of speed and accuracy, easy to make repeated angle cuts with the blade locked in place, delivers plenty of power

Cons: Large and heavy saw body, carries a very high price point, needs occasional adjustments

Buy the DeWalt DWS780 12-Inch Compound Miter Saw from Home Depot for $599

Jimmy Garoppolo #10, Jacoby Brissett #7 and Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots stunned the NFL world when they traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers and made yet another long-term commitment to the 40-year-old Tom Brady.

The trade marked the fifth time since Brady took over as the Patriots' starting quarterback that the team traded away one of his backups. Several others left as free agents.

While there are high hopes for Garoppolo in San Francisco, the track record for most of Brady's former backups is less than stellar. Below we take a look at what happened to every notable Patriots backup quarterback during the Brady era, including a couple of big-name veterans.

Drew Bledsoe was drafted by the Patriots as the first pick in the 1993 draft and served as their starting quarterback for nine seasons. He signed a then-record 10-year, $103 million contract extension in 2001, nine months after the Patriots drafted Tom Brady, but he lost his job to Brady early in the next season when he ruptured a blood vessel in his chest. He returned from the injury but did not regain his starting job in New England.

Source: New York Times

Bledsoe was traded to the Buffalo Bills after the season for a first-round pick. He spent the next five seasons with the Bills and the Dallas Cowboys, going 35-35 as a starter. He now owns the Doubleback Winery in Walla Walla, Washington, with his wife.

Damon Huard signed as a free agent with the Patriots prior to the 2001 season. He threw just one pass for the Patriots in three seasons as Brady's backup.

13 things you shouldn't do when you're pregnant, according to two doctors

Pregnant Woman

  • Pregnancy can be a nerve-wracking time for a woman.
  • Knowing what you should stay away from is not always clear.
  • Things like hot tubs, roller coasters, and smoking are definitely off-limits.
  • When in doubt, always rely on your physician for trusted medical advice.

Finding out that you're pregnant is exciting, but also nerve-wracking, considering the hundreds of lists out there telling mothers-to-be what not to do.

But before you go and change your entire life around, it's a good idea to make sure the lists you're reading are consistent with doctors' advice.

INSIDER talked to two OB/GYNs about what not to do when you're expecting.

Here's what they had to say.

Don't eat for two.

Don't use your pregnancy as an excuse to ditch a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Yesenia Blancas, an OB/GYN at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center/UT Health said your caloric intake shouldn’t change much during the first trimester.

You can expect to add about 200 extra calories per day during the second trimester and 300-400 calories per day during the third trimester.

Don't clean out the cat's litter box.

Cats can pass a parasitic infection called toxoplasmosis through their stool. This infection can lead to birth defects.

Don't skip that visit to the dentist.

Due to the increase in blood volume and progesterone in the body, pregnant women are susceptible to gingivitis. That's why Blancas recommends women maintain their regular dental cleanings.

These four women want to help plan your dream funeral

Going Out In Style

  • Professional stylists and former wedding planners, the women of Going Out In Style, have now turned to the funeral business.
  • Their services cover all aspects of the event, and they encourage clients to think outside of the box.
  • They work both with consulting clients who are looking to pre-plan their funerals, and the families of the deceased.

The four women of Going Out In Style want you to think differently about death.

That is, what happens after your death — including what you'd like your funeral service to look like, smell like, taste like, and feel like for the guests.

Of course, you won't be there to enjoy it, but GOIS wants to style, organize, and throw you the ultimate after-party anyway. The women consult with clients prior to death, as well as family or friends of the deceased.

Their last client — who held a memorial service at New York City's renowned power-lunch spot, The Grill — was celebrated and remembered with napkins depicting custom illustrations of his two dogs, his favorite sayings printed on coasters, and a cart serving whiskey — his preferred drink. They approached the client's family with a simple request: "Tell us a story about him." From there, they begin their planning.

They stand firmly behind the idea that their funeral-styling services help those you've left behind. "In the time of need, wouldn't it be nice if you knew exactly what that person wanted instead of trying to guess?" co-founder Cassidy Iwersen told Business Insider.

With an attention to detail similar to wedding planning, Naomi DeManana, Colleen Banks, Erin Furey, and Iwersen plan every aspect of the event — and no request is too absurd.

We followed the ladies of Going Out In Style for a day to get an idea of how they operate — and what they can offer clients.

Our first stop was Manhattan's flower district — where DeManana was picking up a bouquet of red roses as a thank you gift for a former client.

Their services span floral arrangements, location and venue booking, invitations, musical arrangements, the food, organizing readings, how you'd like to be buried or cremated, what you'll be wearing inside your casket, what your casket will be made of, and the parting gifts — anything and everything you, or your family might request on your behalf.

As professional stylists and former wedding planners, the team has years of experience creating and executing large-scale events.

Iwersen noted the difference in their new line of work: "People are grieving, and they really need you to help come in...and tease out these details quickly while they're a little clouded or sad. It feels good to use our skills that way."

When consulting with clients, the questions they ask branch out well beyond the major event musts, down to the nitty gritty details.

No request is too over the top. They have a list of questions they ask, starting with the main event. "Is it a funeral? Memorial? A party or an ocean send off? What's the location? Is it a destination funeral? Time of day? The guest list? Invitation — is there one? Is it printed? An email? Delivered by carrier pigeons?" said Iwersen.

But unfortunately, sometimes stars like to keep the meaning of their most personal tattoos on the low, providing an evasive, almost nonexistent explanation behind the design. For the most part, people leave the inspo up to speculation. But if you're tired of guessing and want to know the truth, stick with us.
From Rihanna to Miley Cyrus to Selena Gomez, we've rounded up a string of celeb tattoo meanings just waiting to answer your questions — ahead.

Jessica Alba

The tattoo: "Lotus" in Sanskrit

The meaning: Alba once told Stephen Colbert that her tiny wrist tattoo symbolized the "manifestation of spiritual beauty," adding that she got the tattoo after she broke up with a famous ex.

Selena Gomez

The tattoo: Arabic script

The meaning: Loosely translated from Arabic to English, the words means, "Love yourself first." The ink went on to become the most famous on Gomez — and even got it's own place on her Coach bag.

Rihanna

The tattoo: Egyptian goddess, Isis
The meaning: One of our all-time favorites, Rihanna's chest tattoo is a tribute to her grandmother. After she passed away in 2012, the singer posted a photo of the ink on Instagram with the caption, "Goddess Isis - Complete Woman - Model for future generations - #GRANGRANDOLLY - always in and on my heart #1love."

15 major problems with 'Grey's Anatomy' that all fans overlook

grey's anatomy denny duquette izzie stevens

  • It might seen as more of a primetime soap opera than anything else, but "Grey's Anatomy" is still going strong in its 14th season on the air.
  • Like many medical dramas, some of its storylines are seen as unrealistic in real-life medical settings.
  • The on-call room makeout sessions, unprofessional behavior, and the fact that Grey Sloan Memorial is basically a death trap are just some of the issues that "Grey's" fans tend to look past.

"Grey’s Anatomy" is in its 14th season and at this point, the surgeons at Grey Sloan feel like family. If you’ve watched the show from the beginning, you’ve gotten a chance to see some of the lead characters (those who’ve avoided termination, transfer, or death) grow from baby doctors to leading members of their field. You’ve also seen them grow from baby people to actual functioning members of reasonably healthy romantic relationships. And along the way, they’ve also become actions stars, surviving any number of natural and human disasters along the way.

"Grey’s" has always been a brilliantly blown-out representation of the human experience, peppered with some of the  most clever and twee dialogue on television. But that doesn’t mean its without flaws.

While we adore the Shondaland flagship more than we loved McSteamy teaching his daughter Spanish, no show is perfect. "Grey’s Anatomy" doesn’t do anything small, so some of their mistakes are as loud and glaring as an ambulance crashing into an emergency room — not that that means we’ll stop watching anytime soon. We put together some of the mistakes we have to overlook to keep on loving this show.

15. Everyone would have been fired or be in jail by now.

"Grey’s Anatomy" is a nighttime soap, so obviously they’re going to take some dramatic license in an effort to both keep characters in high-stakes situations, and also still able to practice medicine. However, it’s starting to require a pretty gargantuan suspension of disbelief to believe certain doctors would still have their jobs.

Remember that time Callie left a sponge in a snowboarder who later got an infection that cost him both his legs? Then there was that time Bailey performed an unauthorized procedure on a young boy because she thought she knew better than the parents. Oh! And remember that time Izzie cut Denny’s LVAD wire to put him at the top of the transplant list and he got the heart, causing Dr. Hahn’s patient to die? And then Denny died anyway? And let’s not forget about the cabal of interns who operated on themselves!

14. The timeline is extreme.

The biggest suspensions of disbelief "Grey’s" demands of its audience regards its timeline. If you’ve managed to maintain ignorance about surgical internships, maybe don’t read any further. What you’re about to learn will confuse and upset you.

The first three seasons of "Grey’s Anatomy" take place during the doctors’ one year surgical internship. 12 months. That means Meredith sleeps with Derek, learns about Addison, breaks up with Derek, sleeps with George, sleeps with Derek again, and cuts Cristina out of her wedding dress in. One. Year. Also, George marries Callie, sleeps with Izzie, divorces Callie and joins the army in. One. Year. Izzie Stevens hates Alex, dates Alex, falls for Denny, dates Alex again, falls for Denny again and cuts his LVAD.

All in just one single year.

We wish we could explain it away beyond dramatic logistics, but honestly, the only solution is just not to think about it too hard.

13. Derek Shephard was always kind of a jerk.

When "Grey’s Anatomy" premiered in 2005, Derek “McDreamy” Shephard soared into our hearts and minds with his gorgeous blue eyes, legendary hair and adorable obsession with ferryboats. His romance with Meredith Grey remained a cornerstone of the show for the first half of its run, but if you take a close look at the character, you’ll realize he doesn’t deserve any of this.

There’s the obvious, “I like this subordinate and I’m sad, so I’m just going to forget to tell her about my marriage.” Then there’s, “My wife slept with my best friend, so I’m just going to move to Seattle and give her the silent treatment instead of actually ending our marriage like and adult.” Oh, and the classic, “My wife messed with my Alzheimer’s study, but instead of being empathetic to her history with the disease, I’m going to shut her out emotionally until I feel better.”

The biggest mistakes people make when doing HIIT, the workout celebrities swear by

lifting weights

Celebrities Britney Spears, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Lopez are all fans of one type of training that is taking the health and wellness world by storm — HIIT. Even trainers like Jillian Michaels and celebrity trainer Jorge Cruise have both previously told INSIDER they are fans of the fat burning workout.

Eric Salvador, head trainer at the Fhitting Room — a 50 minute HIIT class in New York City— told INSIDER that HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training, and is essentially the opposite of a long and steady workout.

"HIIT incorporates short bursts of workouts which will make you feel very uncomfortable implemented with some active recovery or rest for different kind of variations of time, so the ratio of work to rest is something that we play with," he said.

According to Salvador, HIIT is beneficial because it works the full body and tests both strength and endurance using compound movements.

With those benefits in mind, Salvador noted that some people could sabotage their HIIT workouts by making common mistakes. Here's what you might be doing wrong with HIIT and how to make the most out of your training.

You're making the workout too long.

One of the perks of HIIT workouts is that they are short. Adding more time won't make them more efficient.

Salvador said HIIT work varies from four to six minutes of "going all out" and then resting. Longer HIIT workouts, however, are one of the first mistakes he often sees with people trying out HIIT for the first time.

"Long workouts [...] they are not HIIT," he said. "You can't do a HIIT workout for a very long time. Some of the HIIT workouts I have done lasted 10 minutes, with rest involved, so the actual amount of work I am doing is different."

Salvador added that some workouts are promoted as HIIT when they aren't. The way to determine if you are actually doing HIIT is if there are changes or intervals of intensity.

You skip your warm up.

You should never skip your warm up no matter the exercise, but it is especially important to warm up for a HIIT session. According to Salvador, the shorter the workout, the longer you have to warm up since you are taking your body from one extreme to another.

"If I have a really long workout I don't have to warm up as much because then in that long workout I start to warm up within the first five minutes," he said.

"So warm-ups are very important, and what I mean by that is getting the body moving, getting a little sweat involved, before you hit something that is really intense to prevent that heart [rate] spike right off the bat."

You're just resting during your average workout, and not upping the intensity.

For HIIT to be effective, you have to implement both the high-intensity work and intervals. So if you are simply adding breaks or rests into your typical workout without upping the intensity, you aren't doing HIIT, according to Salvador.

"Once you start losing the intensity basically you are just working out and resting for 30 seconds which is not very intense, and now your workout starts to diminish," Salvador said.

One example he gave was if someone did a HIIT workout and rested as necessary but didn't really sweat or feel challenged, that points to a mistake in intensity. Some people, according to Salvador, don't know how to measure intensity.

On a scale of one to 10, one would be sleeping, and a 10 would be feeling like you couldn't possibly do any more work. For HIIT, you should be in the eight to 10 range, according to Salvador. If you stay in the lower levels, you aren't really challenging your body or getting the most out of your workout.

To make an exercise more intense, Salvador recommended changes like turning a normal step up on a box to a box jump or turning a dumbbell curl into a dumbbell curl and squat. Changing up these moves will make your body work more, tax more muscles, and burn more calories.

New England Patriots fans are known for their passionate, emphatic team spirit — and celebrities are not immune to this fervor. From well-known Bostonians like Chris Evans and Matt Damon to more low-key fans like Elizabeth Banks, the Patriots' influence stretches far and wide.

In light of the team gunning for its sixth Super Bowl ring on Sunday, INSIDER rounded up the most notable celebrities who will be cheering for Tom Brady and Co. from the sidelines.

1. Lea Michelle

Despite being a native New Yorker, Michele has been known to don a Brady jersey

"I'm a New Yorker, but I've always been a Patriots fan,"Michele told People. "Tom Brady's an incredible athlete. He will go down probably in my generation as one of the greatest athletes that I'll get to see."

The "Glee" actress even called last year's Super Bowl the "best day ever" on Twitter.

2. Justin Timberlake

Timberlake was quick to congratulate Brady on his comeback last year.

For Brady, this may have been a particularly welcome message, considering he recently named the "Filthy" singer one of his man crushes.

3. Gisele Bündchen

The super model is the ultimate Patriots super-fan — and wife to the team's superstar quarterback.

Bündchen and Brady are the definition of a power couple. Not only are they legends in their respective careers — with a combined net worth of $540 million— they are in love. And the supermodel loves to show her husband affection by rooting for his team

We compared Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos to find out who's the more successful visionary — here's the verdict

BI Graphics Jeff Bezos vs Elon Musk

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, are huge names in the world of business.

• Their work has attracted a lot of attention from both the public and the media.

• They also have a lot in common, including a net worth in the billions and a keen interest in space.

• We compared them head-to-head to see who comes out on top.

Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are two of the biggest names in business today.

Bezos founded his Seattle-based online retailer in 1994, to sell books. Now, Amazon is on track to become the world's first trillion-dollar company.

Musk is currently running two high-profile companies, which seek to revolutionize transportation on earth and in space.

Both have accomplished much in their respective fields, capturing the attention of the public in the process. And both have shared extraordinary visions of what the future holds.

Business Insider compared the two across a number of categories, including the health of their companies, their leadership approval ratings, their philanthropic giving habits, their net worths, and their visions for the future, to get a sense of which visionary is more successful.

Here's our verdict:

Tesla and SpaceX may ultimately prove to be juggernauts, but Amazon already has already taken over the world

Amazon may be one of most powerful tech giants out there today, but it actually got off to a pretty rocky start, according to Markets Insider. The retailer had a ton of competitors among traditional booksellers, and perplexed Wall Street by favoring growth over profits. Over the years, it's seen some tumultuous years.

But Amazon's now "juggernaut" stock price has since multiplied nearly 500 times since 1997. The company currently has a market cap of $689.93 billion, and employs over 541,900 people worldwide, according to CNN.

Just this past year, Amazon has made major moves in the retail space, acquiring Whole Foods and gearing up to establish a second headquarters in a yet-to-be-determined city in North America.

Tesla's also seen some volatile years since it went public in 2010. The automaker currently has market cap of $58.4 billion. Over the years, some people, including Musk himself, have called its stock overvalued, Markets Insider reported. But recently, the stock has rallied and is now trading at over $300 a share.

Tesla was left with somewhere around 32,300 people, after it fired about 700 people in November, according to Fortune.

USA Today reported Musk has vowed to make SpaceX public when it begins embarking on flights to Mars.

The winner: Bezos.

A majority of employees Amazon, SpaceX, and Tesla approve of their CEOs

Musk and Bezos are a hit with their employees, for the most part.

Musk's ratings actually vary somewhat between SpaceX and Tesla. While 96% of SpaceX employees approve of their CEO, that drops to a still sizable 84% at Tesla. Averaging the approval ratings at SpaceX and Tesla gives Musk an overall approval rating of 90%.

Meanwhile, 87% of Amazon employees approve of Bezos. If we averaged the approval ratings at Amazon and Blue Origin, the private spaceflight and aerospace company Bezos founded, that would give Bezos an overall rating of 90%, just like Musk. There's only one problem with that method — Bezos isn't the CEO of Blue Origin.

The winner: Musk.

Both Musk and Bezos have given to a range of philanthropic causes, including disaster relief, AI, cancer research, and scholarships

When it comes to philanthropy, both Bezos and Musk are affiliated with namesake foundations.

The Musk Foundation provides grants to support STEM education, renewable energy, and pediatric medicine. Inside Philosophy reported that, in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster of 2011, the foundation donated $250,000 to help the Japanese prefecture set up a solar power system.

And in 2015, Musk donated $10 million to the Future of Life Institute, which is dedicated to ensuring that AI benefits humanity. Tesla subsidiary Solar City also donated solar power systems to Coden, Alabama.

According to Inside Philanthropy, the Bezos Family Foundation was actually founded by the CEO's parents. Bezos and his wife MacKenzie sit on the foundation's board, "which is funded with gifts of Amazon stock." The couple has given in several different areas, including $33 million to a scholarship fund for "dreamers," $10 million to immunotherapy cancer research, $15 million to their alma mater Princeton for the study neural connectivity.

The winner: Both men have made considerable philanthropic efforts. We're going to give this one to Bezos, just based on the amount of money he's donated.

While airline passengers typically prefer to wear comfortable clothing while traveling high above sea level, flight attendants are almost always dressed in style.

From Germany'sLufthansa airline, which is known for wearing traditional dirndls during Oktoberfest, to Cebu Pacific's uniforms, which are comprised of jeans and T-shirts, here's what flight attendant uniforms for 25 different airlines look like around the world.

Aeroflot, a Russian airline, has bright red vintage-inspired uniforms.

The suit-like uniforms also include bright white gloves, ascots, hats, and pointed-toe heels.

Flight attendants working for Singapore Airlines wear full-length, patterned shift dresses.

These women finished off their outfits with voluminous hairdos.

Flight attendants on Etihad Airways wear purple skirt suits with patterned blouses.

These uniforms, which were unveiled in 2014, were inspired by elements of '60s European haute couture, according to Cision PR News Wire.

8 signs you're not ready to get married

$

mindy project

Whether or not you're in a relationship, most of us tend to ask ourselves what the future will bring. Marriage is a big deal, so it requires a lot of meticulous thought — after all, a wedding day is supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience.

So, if you plan on it being your first and only rodeo, you want to make sure you’re ready for the ride. Although a little hesitation prior to such a big commitment is completely normal, it is in your best interest to watch for potential warning signs that you may not be prepared to tie the knot.

You’re not willing to compromise.

Any happy, successful relationship — romantic or not — requires compromise. Yes, it’s ok to be a little selfish — meaning you should make yourself and your physical, mental, and social health a priority, but if you find it difficult to care about the health and happiness of your partner even a little bit, you have a problem.

"Typically, commitment phobics are inflexible and loathe compromises," Darlene Lancer, JD, MFT specializing in codependency and marriage counseling wrote on her professional blog."Relationships revolve around them."

I’ve been with my fiance for six years, and we both agree that compromise has been the anchor that has kept our relationship grounded. It’s something we made a promise to embrace from the beginning, and I remind myself of it every day. It keeps us humble and understanding of each other, so it’s really important.

Remember, compromise doesn’t have to be the ultimate sacrifice, it just shows that you care about the wishes and desires of your partner as much as you care about your own.

You have trust issues.

Some people's trust issues stem from past experiences or insecurities, and that's ok. But you have to be transparent about them with your partner to keep them from ruining your relationship. No one likes feeling like they're not trusted, especially when they haven't done anything to warrant it.

Often, an unwarranted breach of trust "deals with pre-existing issues," like family or childhood trauma, Lynda Cameron Price, Ed.S, LPC, AADC, licensed professional counselor and certified addiction professional told INSIDER. "Trust is significant because it's one of the core issues we deal with," she said.

If your trust issues are rooted in an unresolved issue between you and your partner, that's where the situation gets extra sticky. They will only bring resentment and bitterness in the future, so it's best to confront them and work through them before walking down the aisle.

You're not done "exploring."

Obviously, this piece only applies to those who are interested in monogamous relationships. You love your significant other, but you can't shake the feeling that you're missing out on new and different sexual experiences with other people. There's no shame in having those feelings, but if you're experiencing them, you may not be ready to say, "I do."

If you think your partner may share these feelings, it may be worth having a conversation about to see if an open relationship is right for you.

"If you are truly interested in an open marriage, you should have been practicing polyamory or swinging long before you headed up the aisle," Tammy Nelson, Board Certified Sexologist, Certified Sex Therapist, and the author of The New Monogamy told Huffington Post.

Communication is key. It's your relationship, and you can do whatever you want with it, as long as you're both happy. That's the beauty of love.
