The tech elite are abandoning Silicon Valley in droves because of 'groupthink' and out-of-control living costs— here's where they're headed

Silicon Valley is on the brink of an exodus.

Members of the tech elite from Peter Thiel to Tim Ferriss are leaving San Francisco and the peninsula to the south — still the global hub of tech finance and innovation — to escape the self-described groupthink and arrogance of the Valley.

A recent article in The New York Times declared, "Silicon Valley is over." The author followed a dozen venture capitalists on a three-day bus trip through the Midwest, in pursuit of hot startups in underrated areas of the country. They marveled at the cheap home prices in cities like Detroit, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin, compared with the extreme cost of living in the Bay Area.

San Francisco lost more residents than any other US city in the last quarter of 2017, according to a report from real-estate site Redfin. Data suggests the great migration is far from over.

Last month, 49% of Bay Area residents said they would consider leaving California because of the cost of living, according to a survey of 500 residents by public-relations firm Edelman.

These are some of the high-profile defectors who have left Silicon Valley in recent years — and where they're headed.

In February, Thiel revealed he's leaving the San Francisco Bay Area and moving to Los Angeles. His venture firm and foundation will also set up headquarters in Los Angeles.

In March, Thiel told The New York Times that the groupthink happening in the Valley can be dangerous. "Network effects are very positive things, but there's a tipping point where they fall over into the madness of crowds," Thiel said.

How much homes cost right now in the Hamptons, one of America's most elite summer vacation destinations

Sag Harbor

  • The Hamptons is one of the most elite vacation destinations in America.
  • Many rich celebrities, hedge fund managers, CEOs, socialites, and politicians own multi-million dollar summer homes in the Hamptons.
  • The high volume of mansions in the Hamptons — and its waterfront locale — makes it one of the most expensive real estate markets in the US.

The Hamptons is the preeminent summer vacation destination in the tri-state area.

The Hamptons encompasses more than two dozen villages and hamlets on Long Island. While people live there year-round, it's the months between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend each year when visitors infuse the Hamptons with energy — and money.

The Hamptons is hallmarked by its countless famous and flush residents, including hedge fund managers, celebrities, CEOs, and socialites. Bill and Hillary Clinton have long vacationed on Georgica Beach in East Hampton. And Southampton even has its very own "Billionaire Lane" reserved for the rich and powerful.

Such prestige doesn't come cheap. At least seven towns in the Hamptons have a median home listing price of around $1 million. That means half the houses for sale in those places are priced under seven figures, and half are priced above. What's more, at least 11 towns have median home prices between $2.2 million to $5.6 million.

That's according to StreetEasy, which recently launched a new Hamptons platform, Out East, for sale and rental listings in the Hamptons. Out East provided Business Insider with a ranking of most expensive towns in the Hamptons based on median list price.

Below, we've featured the 21 towns in the Hamptons where the median list price is highest as of February 22, ranked from least expensive to most. Towns with fewer than 20 homes for sale were excluded from the list.

Wendy's is slamming McDonald's as a new weapon emerges in the fast-food wars — and it's clear whose burger is better (MCD, WEN)

Fast Food Signature Burgers 6

McDonald's and Wendy's have a beef over fresh beef.

On Tuesday, McDonald's announced it would be swapping frozen for fresh beef on all of its Quarter Pounders across the US by early May. Roughly 3,500 locations in the US had already made the switch, which the company said resulted in "hotter, juicer" burgers.

Wendy's — long the fast-food king of fresh-beef burgers — fired back at the rival fast-food chain. On Tuesday, Wendy's posted a string of tweets highlighting the fact that McDonald's wasn't planning on making the switch with all of its burgers.

"You shouldn't have to use a decoder ring to figure out what quality you're going to get" when you order a burger, Kurt Kane, Wendy's chief concept and marketing officer, told Business Insider.

Kane also said that, having tried one of McDonald's new burgers, he wasn't worried about Wendy's customers ditching the chain for McDonald's new Quarter Pounders.

So, we decided to conduct a taste test of our own. Here's how McDonald's fresh-beef Quarter Pounder matches up against Wendy's Dave's Single, made with fresh, never frozen, beef.

SEE ALSO: Wendy's slams McDonald's as a new weapon emerges in the fast-food burger battles

Up first: McDonald's. I was able to try the new fast-food burger during a media event on Monday — and I was impressed by what I found.

"Those who are seeking a larger burger ... this is what they were looking for," Linda VanGosen, McDonald's vice president of menu innovation, told Business Insider.

"It was hotter, juicier, more flavorful," VanGosen said. "This is addressing what they're looking for."

The only change in the burger, according to executives, is the fresh beef. Everything else is exactly the same.

McDonald's beef prep simply requires slapping the patty on the grill and adding a bit of pepper. One positive of fresh beef: it cooks faster than frozen, which means that the new preparation style isn't going to slow down McDonald's workers.

Taking a bite, the difference that fresh beef makes is immediately obvious. Hotter, juicier, and finally freed of its mulch-like texture — the fresh-beef burger is a vast improvement over the old-school Quarter Pounder.

I hadn't realized how much of a handicap the texture of McDonald's patties were to the chain's hamburgers until I had a fresh-beef burger. While the dryness of the burgers can be ignored on a Big Mac — as other elements take the forefront — the Quarter Pounder is vastly bettered by the beef upgrade.

Tiger Woods is back.

After playing in just two tournaments in over two years and a tumultuous 10 months that included his fourth back surgery in four years and an arrest after being found asleep in his car on the side of the road, Woods is finally back. In fact, he looks so good, fans and fellow golfers are downright giddy.

This isn't the first time Woods has needed to come back. His career was derailed by affairs and a subsequent divorce from his wife, and his return to golf dominance has been hampered by injuries.

But despite this, Woods is still worth an estimated $740 million and is one of the highest-paid athletes of all time. That means plenty of cash to spend on yachts, private jets, megamansions, and video games.

Take a look at how he spends it all, below.

Tony Manfred and Mary Hanbury contributed reporting to a previous version of this article.

Meet the 2 men in position to replace Lloyd Blankfein at the top of Goldman Sachs (GS)

$

Lloyd Blankfein David Solomon Harvey Schwartz Goldman Sachs

  • Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein is preparing to leave the firm by the end of the year, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
  • Goldman is expected to pick from David Solomon and Harvey Schwartz to replace him.

The time has finally come.

After more than 12 years at the top of Goldman Sachs, CEO Lloyd Blankfein is set to step down as soon as the end of the year, according to Liz Hoffman and Joann S. Lublin at the Wall Street Journal

His departure would likely lead to a quick appointment for either David Solomon, a former dealmaker, or Harvey Schwartz, the ex-CFO who worked with Blankfein in the early days of his career at Goldman Sachs in commodities trading.

The two were promoted to co-COO and president just days after Gary Cohn, who had previously held the position of Blankfein's right-hand-man, accepted a position leading the National Economic Council for President-elect Donald Trump. Cohn recently stepped down from that role.

Here's what you need to know about the two men vying to replace Blankfein at the top of Goldman Sachs:

David Solomon — president and co-chief operating officer

Solomon was named president and co-COO with Harvey Schwartz back in December 2016, positioning him as a clear potential successor to Lloyld Blankfein. He had previously been co-head of investment banking in New York, holding that for a decade.

In recent years, he has played an important role in revamping the investment bank's junior-banker policies. And he's also taken a lead role in Goldman's efforts to try and build the ultimate financial destination for the masses under its Marcus brand

Solomon has tended to be more of a public face for Goldman Sachs than Schwartz in recent years. He famously moonlights as an EDM DJ. He also once gave life-changing career advice to Sixers guard J.J. Redick.

Like Schwartz, he's had a less than typical career path. He skipped the Ivy League and studied political science at Hamilton College in upstate New York.

Harvey Schwartz — president and co-chief operating officer

Schwartz was CFO when he was named president and co-COO alongside Solomon.

He joined the trading shop J. Aron — the same firm Blankfein joined 15 years earlier — as it was merging with Goldman. When he joined, Blankfein was managing J. Aron, which merged into Goldman's fixed income, currencies, and commodities unit.

Gary Cohn, who Schwartz replaced as COO and recently left his role as President Trump's chief economic adviser, was global head of commodities at the time. Schwartz reported to him and Blankfein.

In a recent podcast, Schwartz described his childhood as "pretty difficult," saying he almost didn't make it to college. After he graduated from high school he worked at a gym as a physical trainer. And he only ended up applying to college because one of his clients, Linda, pushed him to do so.

2018 NFL MOCK DRAFT: Here's what the experts are predicting for all 32 first-round picks

Sam Darnold

We are still more than a month from the 2018 NFL Draft, but the combine is now history, players and teams are jockeying for position, and experts have weighed in on who they think will be drafted by each team in the first round.

We surveyed 14 NFL Draft experts who have released mock drafts recently to get a consensus prediction for which players teams might be considering with all 32 first-round picks. Under this format, it is possible for the same player to appear in multiple spots and for some players with first-round talent to not appear at all if there is no consensus on where they might land.

The experts: ESPN's Mel Kiper, ESPN's Todd McShay, CBS Sports' Will Brinson, CBS Sports' Pete Prisco, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com's Bucky Brooks, The Ringer's Danny Kelly, NFL.com's Charles Davis, NFL.com's Charley Casserly, Walter Football, USA Today's Luke Easterling, Rotoworld's Josh Norris, The Sports Xchange's Rob Rang, and DraftTek (Half of these have been updated since the combine. We will update this list as more of the experts update their mocks).

1. Cleveland Browns — Sam Darnold, QB

Experts: 10 out of 14

School: USC

Other notable possibilities: Josh Allen (2), Saquon Barkley (2)

Key expert quote: McShay: "After the combine this past week, it's sounding as if this pick could come down to him or Saquon Barkley. Darnold is the best QB in this class, in my opinion. However, I also could see Josh Allen as the choice here, since he has more experience in the cold, the big arm and the hand size (10⅛ inches) to diminish fumbling concerns in bad AFC North weather. If Cleveland addresses its quarterback situation in free agency (AJ McCarron?), then I think Barkley is the pick here."

2. New York Giants — Saquon Barkley, RB

Experts: 6 out of 14

School: Penn State

Other notable possibilities: Josh Rosen (4), Baker Mayfield (1), Quenton Nelson (1), Sam Darnold (1), Josh Allen (1)

Key expert quote: McShay: "The Giants could go a lot of different directions here. If they are really looking to win now with Eli Manning at QB, then they should take the best player in the draft, Barkley. Give Manning a running game and a little more pass protection (via free agency or later in the draft) and Giants fans would argue they are a playoff team. Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson are in play here as well."

3. Indianapolis Colts — Bradley Chubb, DE

Experts: 11 out of 14

School: North Carolina State

Other notable possibilities: Saquon Barkley (2), Sam Darnold (1)

Key expert quote: Kiper: "The Colts don't need a quarterback and can grab the draft's best pass-rusher. They ranked 31st in the NFL in sacks (25) last season. Chubb had 46.5 tackles for loss over the past two seasons. New defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus came over from Dallas, where Rod Marinelli and the Cowboys ran a 4-3 defense. Chubb is a great fit in a 4-3 as an edge rusher."

10 mistakes you’re making that wreak havoc on your skin

face wash

  • Washing your face should be an easy task to accomplish, but a lot of people are doing it wrong — or not at all.
  • Expensive skin care products aren't always the best thing for your skin, contrary to many beauty experts.
  • People should wash their faces at least once a day.

It seems like
we're doing everything wrong when it comes to our beauty routines, from wearing glitter nail polish to removing makeup.

However, dermatologists see patients every day who are making rookie mistakes, especially when it comes to washing their faces properly. Washing your face should be an easy task to accomplish, but a lot of people are doing it wrong — or not at all.

Several dermatologists weighed in and shared the top 10 mistakes they see people frequently make when it comes to keeping skin healthy and clean.

Exfoliating daily

Although exfoliating is an important part of a skin care regimen, Dove dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara told INSIDER that she sees patients overdo it with chemical exfoliators like peels and acids and manual exfoliators, such as scrubs and cleansing brushes.

"A cotton washcloth is all the exfoliation someone needs," she said.

Buying expensive skin care products

Even though some pricey beauty products are worth the hype, Dr. Gohara said to avoid dropping serious cash on a face wash.

"More expensive does not mean better," she said.

In fact, some expensive face washes might actually be bad for your skin, especially if they contain ingredients that strip the skin of its epidermal barrier, Dr. Gohara said.

Dr. Gohara said the best face wash deposits lipids back into the skin.

The loss of lipids can cause rough surface texture, uncomfortable tightness, dullness and loss of facial fullness, and can make the skin prone to irritation, according to Dermstore.

Leaving makeup on

Double cleansing is an important pre-shower step, especially if you're wearing makeup.

If you don't properly take makeup off, it can clog your pores, leading to acne.

The 22 best places to live in America if you want to make a lot of money

Finding a great job that comes with a significant salary boost is one of the top reasons to move to a new city.

In its 2017 ranking of the best places to live in America, U.S. News & World Report gathered data on the 100 most populous US cities. Among the factors it considered were affordable housing, a low cost of living, good schools, quality healthcare, and access to well-paying jobs. You can read U.S. News' full methodology here.

Business Insider reranked these cities based on average annual salary to find the cities where residents earned more than $50,000 a year — on par with the national average. They don't all rank highly on U.S. News' overall list, given higher costs of living and other factors, so we've included each city's overall ranking for comparison's sake. For instance, Chicago ranks at No. 19 in terms of salary, but it came in only at No. 83 on the list of 100.

Of the 100 best places to live in the US, here are 22 where you can land the highest-paying jobs:

22. Santa Rosa, California

Population: 495,078

Average annual salary: $50,540

Overall rank on best places to live list: 52

Just 55 miles north of San Francisco sits Santa Rosa, one of Sonoma County's premier wine-country towns. According to US News' local expert, Santa Rosa is an originator of the farm-to-table movement and "a haven for bicyclists, who train on its rural western roads and visit en masse for two major cycling events: the Amgen Tour of California and the Levi's GranFondo."

The job market in Santa Rosa is powered by tourism: 9% of residents work in the industry, mainly at local farms, wineries, and brewpubs.

21. Albany, New York

Population: 877,846

Average annual salary: $50,880

Overall rank on best places to live list: 30

Despite the snowy winters, living in Albany comes with several advantages. Albany offers a cost of living lower than the national average and the cost of housing sits well below the rest of the US as a whole. In terms of jobs, the city's tech and healthcare industries are on the rise.

Albany's downtown is lined with art galleries, wine shops, and churches for visitors to peruse. In keeping with the city's cold climate, hockey is the sport of choice for residents.

20. Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina

Population: 1,750,865

Average annual salary: $51,150

Overall rank on best places to live list: 7

Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill are collectively known as the Triangle, an area anchored by its foundation in research and tech. The Triangle employs nearly 40,000 residents at companies like IBM, SAS Institute Inc., and Cisco Systems as well as surrounding colleges Duke, North Carolina State, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A strong job market coupled with a burgeoning microbrewery and dining scene draws 80 new residents every day, said a local expert.

  • Bentley's long-serving Continental GT is heading for retirement after 15 wildly successful years in service.
  • The Continental GT is going out in style with the 700 horsepower, 209 mph Supersports.
  • Bentley's all-new second-generation Continental GT will arrive for the 2019 model year.
  • We loved the Supersports' power, performance, comfort, and style.

All good things must come to an end. After 15 years of unprecedented success, it was time for the Bentley Continental GT to say goodbye.

Launched in 2003, the Continental GT proved to be an immediate success. In fact, the 12-cylinder grand tourer was so much of a success that it increased Bentley's global sales five-fold by 2005. That year, it was also revealed that demand for the Continental GT was so massive that there was a one-year waiting list for the car.

In 2010, Bentley updated the Continental GT with fresh styling and a added a new V8 engine option. Over the years, Bentley has worked hard to tweak and improve the Continental.

After a decade and a half, Bentley and parent company VW Group decided it was time to bid farewell to the best selling model.

Last August, Bentley unveiled the new second-generation Continental GT. It'll arrive later this year as a 2019 model.

But before sailing off into the sunset, Bentley decided to do its trusty workhorse a solid with the introduction of the Continental Supersports. It's the fastest and powerful Bentley ever built. It's the Bentley Continental in its ultimate form.

Recently, Business Insider had the chance to spend a few days with the stylish English brute on the roads in and around San Francisco.

The 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports starts at $293,300, but $35,065 in options and fees pushed the as-tested price up to $328,365.

Unfortunately, the Continental Supersports Coupe is no longer on sale. However, the slightly pricier, Supersports Convertible is still available as a 2018 model.

Here's a closer look at the Bentley Continental Supersports.

Over the years, Bentley steadily improved the Continental GT. This included a major refresh in 2010.

In addition to the Coupe, the Continental was also available as a convertible and as a sedan called the Flying Spur, one of the coolest names in the car business.

The 50 best superhero movies of all time, ranked

$

avengers

"Black Panther" has swiftly become a phenomenon, and it's proof that the superhero genre isn't slowing down.

With movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe already scheduled for the next few years, and the DC Extended Universe still pushing forward despite a rocky start ("Aquaman" hits theaters later this year), the genre is here to stay. That's not even mentioning the non-DC or Marvel films still to come (a "Hellboy" reboot is scheduled for next year).

The genre has produced some very bad movies, and some truly great ones. For every "Catwoman" there is a "Wonder Woman." As we prepare for another "Avengers" movie (now on April 27), Business Insider reflected on the decades of superhero movies to determine the best.

This is a personal ranking, so we didn't determine it from critic or audience scores. But we did consider the critical acclaim, cultural relevance, and commercial success when ranking the movies, especially the top ones. Of course, personal preference also plays a part.

Superhero movies can come in many shapes and sizes, and that's reflected in this list. Some may not be what people would consider typical superhero movies, but they don't always need to be based on a comic book or feature colorful costumes to be part of the genre.

The top 50 superhero movies of all time are below:

SEE ALSO: There's a new 'Star Wars' live-action TV show coming to Disney's Netflix competitor — and it will be written by the director of 'Iron Man'

50. "The Rocketeer" (1991)

Directed by Joe Johnston

I'm not saying this movie made the cut because of its gorgeous poster (seen above), but it certainly helped. But beyond the poster, the movie is pure entertainment. It prepared Joe Johnston to direct "Captain America: The First Avenger," another corny but fun movie where the hero fights Nazis, who, in "The Rocketeer," are after a stolen jet-pack that our stunt pilot-hero uses to fly.

49. "Ant-Man" (2015)

Directed by Peyton Reed

"Ant-Man" is one of the more forgettable entries into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (there's plenty more of those movies to come), but it packs a comedic punch that other superhero movies often fail to get right. The film went through some behind-the-scenes turmoil, as director Edgar Wright ("Baby Driver") left the project for creative differences. But Peyton Reed stepped up to the plate and delivered an enjoyable film where Paul Rudd is surprisingly heroic in the title role.

48. "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011)

Directed by Joe Johnston

Another Joe Johnston movie, this time with a hero a little more well-known — Captain America, in his first film since the 1990 disaster. Luckily, Marvel Studios has a reputation for reviving classic characters these days. The movie is pure camp, but it works for the alternate-World War II setting. Chris Evans was molded to play the blonde-haired, blue-eyed Steve Rogers, who, after a genetic experiment becomes a superpowered propaganda machine ... I mean, Captain America.

I went on my first silent meditation retreat in 2012. When I signed up, I envisioned 10 blissful days of meditation in the misty Thai mountains, totally serene and free from all worldly distractions. Prepping for my third course this November, however, I knew exactly what I was getting into.

Sometimes it would be blissful, and there would definitely be no distractions (none!). But I also knew there would be frustration and tears, bodily pain, painful memories, and not nearly as much mist as one might expect.

My retreat took me on a tour through every possible emotion, dragging up memories I didn't realize I still had. It was intense and rigorous, an experience closer to a surgical procedure than a relaxing holiday. But after a few days, I began to notice actual results.

In the end, I walked away with my head feeling several pounds lighter. I felt clear and content, with a greater capacity for patience, compassion and gratitude.

Read on to hear more about my journey.

The center is located on a peaceful, leafy campus about an hour south of Chiang Mai.

The Dhamma Simanta meditation center is in Lamphun, Thailand, about an hour south of Chiang Mai. The campus is simple, leafy and peaceful, with a dining hall, a walking path through frangipani trees and a large meditation hall with high ceilings, dim lighting, and neat rows of cushions.

Dorm rooms are spare but cozy, with a twin bed, a chair, a couple shelves and a private bathroom with a small mirror.

For the 10 days I spent at the center I was (almost) completely silent.

On the first day, students take a vow of "noble silence," or silence in speech, body and mind. No communication is allowed between students, even by eye contact or gestures. Students are free to ask the instructor questions about the technique or speak to the course leader with administrative concerns, but otherwise there is total silence.

Aside from no speaking, there is no reading, writing, yoga, cooking or chores beyond keeping your room tidy. Any belongings that could be a distraction are stowed away in lockers. Phones, books, cameras, laptops, and even pens and notebooks, all get locked up.

I woke up at 4 a.m., went to bed at 9:30 p.m., and spent a total of 10 and a half hours meditating.

My daily schedule was as follows: wake-up bell at 4 a.m. Meditation from 4:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. Breakfast and a break 6:30 a.m. - 8 a.m. Meditation from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Lunch and a break until 1 p.m. Meditation from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Tea until 5:30 p.m. Meditation from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Instructional discourse from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Meditation 8:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Questions with the teacher, if you choose. Crash into bed at 9:30 p.m.

That's a total of 10 and a half hours of meditation per day. And, hungry types might have noticed, no dinner. First-time students are allowed have a snack at tea time, but returning students are encouraged to go without.

The best game for music lovers

Why you'll love it: DropMix makes it easy to play DJ, and this game will turn a quiet night in into a spontaneous dance party in no time.

It's not hard to see why DropMix is so fun. The setup it's is simple — just a board with five color-coded spaces that plugs into your smart device and a deck of corresponding color-coded cards — but there are so many possibilities. Start out in Freestyle Mode to learn the basics. You'll select a baseline, drum track, instrumentation, and vocals (or any combination therein) and the app will automatically mix them for you.

It takes a lot of the trickiness out of DJing, making sure all your selections are in the same key and matching the beats, so you're guaranteed to get a good mix no matter which cards you choose. And there are lots of genres and options to mix and match, from old school hip-hop and R&B to modern pop and rock hits. I threw together A Tribe Called Quest, Jackson 5, Imagine Dragons, and Carly Rae Jepsen and, amazingly, it all worked.

Once you get the hang of playing DJ, you can switch into game modes. Clash lets you stage your own DJ battle, whereas in the Party setting you team up to answer the computer's requests. Gameplay gets more advanced as you take the point values of various cards into account to amass the highest score. And the free app for iOS and Android lets you record your favorite mixes for posterity.

While the game is recommended for ages 16+, it's simple enough that anyone can get in on the fun — and who doesn't love a good dance party at any age?

The set comes with the mixing board and 60 cards ranging from electronic to hip-hop. For more combinations, you can pick up genre-specific expansion sets for $14.99 on Amazon.

Pros: Interactive, fun to play, works with an app

Cons: Expensive

The best new card game

Why you'll love it:  No two games of  Blank are alike because you get to re-write the rules every time you play.

The rules of Blank will sound familiar: Players begin with six cards in their hands and the first to discard all their cards is the winner. Play starts with one card face up and you can discard cards on your turn that either have the same number or color.

The fun comes in when you have to start playing by the rules. The deck has some prewritten rule cards that range from trivia questions to commands like players must "Moo" every time a pink card is played.

The best part? The winner gets to write a new rule for the next time around. Kids will love come up with wacky ideas for future games.

Pros: Interactive, customizable, you make the rules, changes every time

Cons: None

Buy Blank on Amazon for $14.99

The best game to play as a team

Why you'll love it: Unlock! is an escape room style game that's fun to play as a team.

While there are plenty of new escape room games, Unlock! from Asmodee offers a great twist on the fun with app integration and card-based challenges.

Select the starting card and start the timer, and you'll be faced with a guide to your escape "room" that leads you to other cards with a series of puzzles to solve. As you figure out how the cards interact with each other and the app, you'll get new hints and more tools to help you discover how to escape the room. Incorrect guesses will eat into your overall time and lower your score.

Don't worry if you can't solve it on your first try. Each attempt gets you closer to solving the puzzle and each time you try, you can look to top your previous score, get closer to a perfect run, and get the whole family in on the team fun.

Pros: Interactive, fun for families, puzzle game

Cons: None

I tried 10 fast food chocolate milkshakes — and there's one I'd pick every time

fast food milkshakes taste test

  • I tried chocolate milkshakes from ten fast food locations.
  • I took into account flavor, toppings, consistency, and price.
  • Chick-fil-A ranked first.

Chocolate is kinda my thing. My go-to bowl of ice cream is usually chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips topped with chocolate syrup. Needless to say, making this list was a dream come true.

Here’s my thoughts on the ten milkshakes I tried.

Chick-fil-A Chocolate Milkshake

Despite constantly hearing about the greatness of Chick-fil-A, I largely ignored the fast food chain. Instead, I wait patiently for Summer, when they bring back their peach milkshake. It turns out I've been missing an incredible chocolate shake all this time. In terms of flavor, consistency, syrup to ice cream ratio, and the quality of the toppings, this milkshake easily takes the cake. And with a small shake going for about $2.85, it's a pretty inexpensive way to treat yourself.

This was the top of my list, but I also had some thoughts about the other shakes.

McDonald’s McCafe Chocolate Shake

McDonald's shakes have had the same problem for as long as I can remember, despite undergoing a recipe change in recent years.

The problem is that each time you get one, you're rolling the dice on the quality. They're a little over $2 for a small, but depending on the time or day you go, you may get too much or too little chocolate syrup, not enough whipped cream or none at all. But when it's good, it's really good.

Jack In The Box Hand Chocolate Ice Cream Shake

Jack In The Box knows exactly what it is. With their 24-hour operating schedule and late night "munchie" menu, they know they're the place you go after a night of drinking when you desperately need curly fries.

But something I couldn't have predicted is the quality of their milkshakes. Priced at $2.89 and topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry, the flavor and consistency are really good. I imagine pairing it with some mini churros would be a perfect late night treat.

end of the f ing world

TV viewers and TV critics aren't often on the same page. But where the interests of the two overlap, you're sure to find some quality shows.

Recent Netflix original series "The End of the F***ing World" is one such program.

Acclaimed by both critics and fans, the British dark comedy recently won an enthusiastic endorsement from Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who called it the "most engaging addictive original" in a long time.

To figure out which other Netflix original series were beloved by both groups, we turned to the reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes to see which Netflix original shows scored at least an 85% "Fresh" rating with critics and audiences.

Excluding docu-series, talk shows, and kids shows, we ranked these series by averaging their critic and audience scores on the site, and we used critic scores to break any ties.

john tucker must die

  • While you may think of yourself as a science expert, the questions below will likely have you stumped.
  • Most of these are quite tricky, but see if you can figure out the correct answer.

If you can answer 50 percent of these science trivia questions correctly, you may be a genius.

What weighs more, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers?

You might think that this is a trick science trivia question. But, if you guessed that they weigh the same, you’re wrong. A pound of feathers weighs more. Why? Gold is weighed in the troy measurement system. Therefore, when you convert them both to a uniform system, a pound of gold weighs approximately 373.24 grams and a pound of feathers approximately 453.59 grams. Don't miss these history questions that people always get wrong.

What mountain peak is farthest from the center of the Earth?

Many may think the answer to this science trivia question is Mount Everest. However, the peak of Chimborazo in Ecuador is the farthest from the center of the earth. Why? The earth actually bulges at the equator because it's constantly spinning. Since Chimborazo sits on top of the equator and right on this bulge, its peak is the furthest from the earth's core. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain if you measure it from base to peak, but its peak is not the furthest from the center of the earth.

At one time, did people believe that the earth was flat?

Humans have known that the earth is round since the time of Ancient Greece. Many believe that it was in the early Middle Ages that some people said the world was flat. Here are some science "facts" that have been proven wrong.

Porn star Stormy Daniels says she had an affair with Trump a year after he married Melania — here's a timeline of the president's many marriages and rumored affairs

  • Former porn star Stormy Daniels says she had an affair with President Donald Trump in 2006, a year after he married Melania Trump and just months after the first lady gave birth to Barron.
  • Trump has been plagued by allegations of affairs and sexual misconduct throughout his three marriages to Ivana Trump, Marla Maples, and Melania Trump.
  • Business Insider has created a timeline of exactly when these relationships, rumored affairs, and reported acts of sexual harassment and assault allegedly took place over the years.

Stormy Daniels is speaking out about her alleged affair with President Donald Trump — and her timeline shows the president cheating on his wife Melania just months after the birth of their son, Barron.

On Tuesday, the lawyer for Stormy Daniels — whose real name is Stephanie Clifford — said on the "Today" show that the former porn star had an affair with Trump in 2006. Jessica Drake, a porn star who in October 2016 accused Trump of sexual misconduct, is said to have "confidential information" about Trump's alleged relationship with Daniels. Trump has denied the affair, which would have occurred a year after he married Melania and four months after she gave birth to Barron.

Daniels isn't the only woman whom Trump has been accused of attempting to engage in a sexual relationship with in 2006. A former Playboy model says that she had an affair with Trump around the same period, and a number of women have accused the president of sexual harassment and assault during the years he has been married to Melania.

Trump has a long history of rumored sexual relationships with various women. Here's a timeline that spells out when Trump's marriages started and ended, as well as alleged and confirmed affairs and acts of sexual misconduct that reportedly occurred during these periods.

Melania Trump is not the president's first wife. That would be Ivana Trump, who married Donald Trump — then a young real estate developer — in 1977.

Ivana is the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka (whose actual name is Ivana Marie), and Eric Trump. Ivana also worked to develop the Trump Organization as vice president of interior design.

Trump's reputation was tied to his "playboy" image, which came with rumors of affairs. According to one report, Trump tried to get Playboy magazine to run a "Girls of Trump" spread featuring his employees.

"He even tried to get Playboy to do a spread called 'The Girls of Trump,' wooing his most shapely staffers, including a former beauty queen secretary, into posing for the magazine with a sliding scale of offers on everything from full nude to breast to 'wet-lip' shots,"Wayne Barrett wrote in his 1991 book "Trump, The Greatest Show on Earth: The Deals, The Downfall, The Reinvention."

Barrett continued: "It was all part of the rakish ethos of phony glamour that he consciously fostered, even to the extent of concealing from public view a very efficient secretary with a pimplish facial condition."
