White Castle is going all out to lure millennials and teens — and McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC should be scared

White Castle Impossible 8264

"If you’re in a White Castle, say 'hell yeah!'" Dennis Coles, a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, bellowed into the mic.

"Hell yeah!" replied the crowd of mostly 20-somethings cramped inside the New York City establishment. Young passers-by pressed their faces against the windows to watch.

"Impossible Burger, turn up!" Coles then said, followed by a bullhorn sound from the DJ behind him.

This was no ordinary evening at the Brooklyn White Castle. Coles — better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah — was performing at a launch party for a plant-based burger by the meatless startup Impossible Foods, which debuted its slider at 140 White Castle locations in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois on Thursday.

For one night only, the rapper, along with fellow Wu-Tang member Cappadonna, famed musician Questlove, and comic Eric Wareheim, turned the White Castle into a club — complete with unlimited Impossible sliders, boozy ice cream, and cocktails made from fountain soda.

White Castle’s partnership with Impossible Foods may seem like an unlikely match, since the startup's burger was only available in higher-end restaurants. But the fast-food chain is making a move to attract millennials and teens, two coveted demographics for the fast-food industry.

Other chains, like McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC, have made similar efforts to appeal to younger customers — but to limited success. A growing number of millennials and teens, however, seem to be turning to meat-free, healthier alternatives to traditional fast food, and Impossible Foods is capitalizing on that.

Here's what it was like inside Impossible’s wild party at White Castle.

SEE ALSO: The battle between the beef industry and Silicon Valley’s lab-grown meat startups is heating up

Impossible Foods held its launch party at a White Castle in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn on April 11.

To start the night off, Questlove (a percussionist for The Roots) DJed.

New and old-school hits from Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Beyoncé, N.W.A., and David Bowie boomed from the speakers.

Ghostface Killah later performed, and everyone got down.

In the back area usually reserved for employees, there was also a Polaroid-style photo booth.

50 celebrity relationships you totally forgot about

$

ryan reynolds alanis morrisette

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince (or princess). Even celebrities know that. Unfortunately for them, they don't get to forget about those frogs as easily as regular folks might.

With the paparazzi, the internet, and the many gossip magazines out there, their old flings will never die. But just because they won't die, doesn't mean they won't be forgotten from time to time.

Here are 50 celebrity relationships you've probably forgotten about by now.

Amy Daire contributed to a previous version of this post.

Keira Knightley and Jamie Dornan

Knightley, who was starring in "Pirates of the Caribbean" at the time, dated Dornan back in the early 2000s.

Well before the name Christian Grey had ever been thought up, Dornan was just a male model, a nobody, really, compared to the international movie star he was dating. That kind of pressure is what eventually led to their break up after two years of dating.

"There is a big pressure when you go out with someone such as Keira,"Dornan told the Daily Mirror in 2006 after they broke up. "The man is meant to be the alpha in the relationship on the money and power front, and clearly I was not. You feel like you have to be dominant in other areas and that causes problems."

Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively

From May to August 2011, these two gorgeous actors couldn't get enough of each other. They were spotted all over Europe holding hands and were seen together stateside before they ended their summer of love

These infamously private stars never went on (or off) the record about their relationship, but it's all history now anyway. By October, Lively had started a relationship with her now husband, Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds and Alanis Morissette

It may be hard to imagine Reynolds with anyone but his current wife, Blake Lively, but well before she ever came along, he was with the talented Alanis Morissette. They started dating in 2002 and were together for two years before he popped the question in 2004.

After two years, they broke off their engagement and went their separate ways in June 2006.

11 secrets that Trader Joe's employees won't tell you

trader joe's customers shopping

  • Most jobs at Trader Joe's start at $12 an hour and subject to frequent pay raises.
  • You can return everything to the store, even things that have been opened or slightly eaten.
  • Customers can use coupons on certain items but Trader Joe's doesn't have any sales, in order to be consistent with its prices.

Trader Joe's has almost a cult-like following thanks to their amazing products, great prices, and happy employees. But all that doesn't happen by accident: Here are some behind-the-scenes secrets from everyone's favorite store.

Employees taste test all the new products

A perk of working at TJ's is sampling all of the latest and greatest products the store introduces — from Japanese Style Fried Rice to Lemon Elderflower Soda, Why? So that when customers ask about something on store shelves, employees are able to answer questions knowledgeably and thoroughly. These are the products you really should only buy at Trader Joe's.

Customers can taste test products, too

You can also try things in the store before you buy them — so long as they are not items that need to be cooked, of course. Let an employee know what you're doing before you rip open that bag of Joe-Joes Cookies, and common-sense dictates that you should limit your sampling to one or two products per visit. If your store sells wine, that's fair game, too. Discover 20 secrets from America's top grocery stores.

They private label a lot

Trader Joe's is well-known for its high-quality, store-brand products, which usually cost less than a similar name brand product you find at other grocery stores. That's because 80% of the products TJ's sell are actually made by those same name brand companies, specifically for Trader Joe's. (Who those brands are is top-secret, but that hasn't stopped the Internet from speculating.) The store usually pays upfront and in cash, which also helps keeps costs down.

The winner of the Boston Marathon explains how to survive a marathon, from signing up to crossing the finish line

Des Linden boston marathon

  • Boston Marathon champion Des Linden is the first American woman to win the event since 1985.
  • Linden shared some tips on how to run a marathon successfully with Business Insider.
  • The marathon is a grueling event, but Linden's advice can help you make the most of your training — not to mention succeed on the day of the big race.

Boston Marathon champion Des Linden made history. The professional runner is the first American woman to win the Boston Marathon since 1985.

She also previously represented the US at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

During an interview with Business Insider last year, Linden said that she thought the event was "insane" when she first became involved in the world of running. But, since joining the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, she's established herself as a dominant figure in marathon running.

The event is no walk in the park. It's ancient origin story involves a soldier named Pheidippides dropping dead after running 26.2 miles in order to report news of the Greeks' victory in the Battle of Marathon.

But Linden has some tips on how to set yourself up for success in the big race.

Here's Linden's advice on how to run a marathon:

SEE ALSO: A look inside Boston Marathon champion Des Linden's daily routine, which features 12-mile morning runs and 2 breakfasts

DON'T MISS: It might be healthier to run a mile than a marathon

SEE ALSO: US Olympian Mikaela Shiffrin just won gold in Pyeongchang — here's the grueling morning routine that helped her do it

Make sure you've decided to run a marathon for the right reasons

"A lot of first-time runners think, 'Oh, the marathon is sexy,'" Linden said. "It's what you want to put on your bucket list."

She said it's better to test yourself with shorter 5K and 10K races, rather than just throwing yourself into a marathon.

"If you're not really ready for it, you're probably not going to love it," she said. "Give yourself a chance to fall in love with it, and you get that by being patient and slowly building towards it. If you can create a love of the process, then you can run for your entire life, which is pretty incredible."

Take the plunge and sign up

For runners who've yet to conquer the marathon, Linden said that just signing up can be a huge motivator.

Signing up — and putting your money down for a race — will establish your commitment and heighten your resolve.

Get the right shoes

Linden said you should never "just pick a shoe because it looks cool or because the price is right or it's what's there in front of you."

Instead, she recommended heading to a store that specializes in running shoes, especially if you need help picking one that's right for you.

As a member of the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, Linden said she wears Hansons-Brooks shoes.

We tried Shake Shack's new veggie burger — here's the verdict (SHAK)

Shake Shack Veggie Burger

  • Shake Shack is testing a new veggie burger in three cities.
  • This is Shake Shack's first vegan-friendly burger.
  • We tried the burger and while it tastes nothing like the chain's classic Shack Burger, we were impressed nonetheless.

Shake Shack is known for one thing: burgers. Shack Burger, Shack Stack, Smoke Shack — beef is the chain's primary concern.

But as vegetarians and vegans make up an increasing proportion of customers, the demand for meat-free burgers also grows. Starting this Thursday, April 19, Shake Shack is debuting a new veggie burger test item at select locations in New York City, Los Angeles, and Austin.

We got a sneak peek and a chance to eat this veggie treat — and we were shocked by the results.

SEE ALSO: Wawa is giving away free coffee — we visited and discovered why it's the greatest convenience store chain in America

The "Veggie Shack" is made with black beans, brown rice, and roasted beets and is topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles, and a vegan mustard mayo.

If you want a vegan-friendly version, just order it without cheese and ask for the gluten-free bun.

The patty itself avoids two of the biggest issues of veggie burgers: mushiness and dryness. Shake Shack manages to replicate the crisp char of a grilled burger by adding a textural grain coating.

Each bite is crisp and fresh — the raw white onions and pickles add a bright and crunchy note to the savory, bean-based patty. This burger doesn't try to be a hamburger, and that's its greatest strength. It embraces the texture and flavors of the patty's ingredients.

Embraer Manhattan concept

  • Embraer's Manhattan Airship private jet concept evokes the style and beauty of New York City.
  • Designers drew inspiration from the art deco designs of the 1920s and 1930s.
  • Embraer has also released concepts inspired by the Far East, Hollywood, and even Brazilian Ranchers.
  • The Brazilian jet maker used its flagship Lineage 1000E executive jet as the canvas for the design concept.
  • The total cost of the Manhattan Airship is $83 million and includes the $53 million for the Lineage 1000E.

For many, a high-end private jet is a point of personal expression. While all jet makers allow for extreme amounts of customization, Embraer Executive Jets takes it a bit further than everyone else.

The Brazillian firm has become famous over the past few years for its stunning and highly imaginative interior design concepts like the Japanese inspired Kyoto Airship and its ground-breaking skylights. Then there's the Brazilian Rancher-meets-Texas-oil-tycoon themed the Skyranch One

Last year, we wrote about Embraer's Hollywood Airship which bathes its occupants in the Art Deco glamour and elegance of tinsel town.

As a sister design to the Hollywood, Embraer interior design boss Jay Beever and former Disney Imagineer Eddie Sotto teamed up to create the Manhattan Airship concept.

"The Manhattan, featuring deep, rich woods, is the embodiment of the Empire State Building crossed with the Rainbow Room," the company said in a press statement.

For Beever and Sotto, the "thrill of resurrecting the art deco designs found in the buildings, furniture, jewelry, cars and ocean liners of the 1920’s and 1930’s, with the Normandie cruise liner provided specific inspiration to the project.

Because of the highly bespoke nature of the business, Embraer's customers can choose to adopt the whole package or simply a few select elements of the concept.

Here's a closer look at Embraer's Lineage 1000E Manhattan Airship interior design concept:

The Manhattan Airship interior is designed for Embraer's flagship Lineage 1000E executive jet. The 1000E has room for 13 to 19 passengers, with a range of nearly 5,300 miles. It's based on the company's E190 airliner

Like the standard Lineage 1000E, the Manhattan Airship is divided into various zones. However, unlike the standard Lineage, all of the crew facilities like the galley have been moved to the back of the plane.

So when you step on board the Manhattan Airship, instead of being greeted by the galley, the first thing you see is a luxury lounge complete with a relief of the Manhattan skyline.

USS John Warner submarine

The USS John Warner, a Virginia-class attack submarine commissioned in 2015, was involved in the US' missile strike into Syria on Friday night, the Pentagon confirmed.

The Warner fired six Tomahawk missiles.

We got the chance to tour the Warner as it was docked at Naval Station Norfolk in November 2017.

Named after the former US senator John Warner — but nicknamed the "Sledgehammer of Freedom" by the crew — the Warner can perform a variety of missions for the US Navy, including surveillance, reconnaissance, and search and rescue, as well as launch land-attack missiles, torpedoes, and mines.

US submarines, including the Warner, are highly classified and rarely seen by the public.

But we got to take a tour of it — here's what we saw.

The Warner is 377 feet long, 34 feet wide, and about 50 feet tall. We weren't allowed to photograph the antennas atop the tower, as they are classified.

The ship also has a displacement of 7,800 tons and can hit depths of 800 feet or more.

21 sneaky signs you're stressed — even if you think you aren't

Woman Eating Ice Cream Cone Outside

  • As our lifestyles get busier and busier, being under constant stress can start to feel normal.
  • Being stressed is often given a badge of honor, but it can really mess with your mental and physical health.
  • There are several telltale signs you're simply under too much stress and you may not even realize it.

In our "always-on" culture, being in a perpetual state of stress can start to feel normal for many of us. As our schedules get busier and busier, we adjust to a more hectic lifestyle without even realizing that we seriously need to slow the heck down.

You may not feel frazzled, but there's a good chance there are some subtle ways your body is telling you that you're stressed, and they can impact you both mentally and physically.

It's scary but true: there are plenty of silent signs stress is making you sick, or just messing with your well-being in ways you aren't fully aware of.

Here are some telltale signs that stress is messing with you, even if you feel perfectly fine.

You've got jaw or tooth pain.

If you've been noticing soreness or pain in your jaw or teeth, you might be under some pretty intense stress. Grinding your teeth, known as bruxism, is something you may be doing whether you realize it or not — many of us do it in our sleep, which can lead to serious pain during waking hours.

Check with your dentist to ensure that the problem doesn't get worse over time.

Your memory is shot.

As our schedules get more and more packed, it's easy to brush off issues with our memory or forgetfulness, but it's often a clear sign of a bigger problem: you're too stressed.

Whether you're finding it hard to focus, or you're forgetting things that once came easily to you, you might be flat-out frazzled. Paying attention to your train of thought (or lack thereof) can help determine if you've got too much on your plate, and whether you need to seriously scale back.

Your period is out of whack.

For many people who menstruate, irregular periods can feel like the norm — after all, periods are known for being unpredictable. But sudden changes in your cycle can indicate that you're enduring too much stress, and you should pay attention.

By tracking your physical and emotional symptoms each month, you'll know if your periods come late or are suddenly absent, a surefire sign that you could be dealing with sneaky emotional stressors.

14 little things you probably missed in 'Grey's Anatomy'

$

christina ricci grey's anatomy

  • Even the most diehard "Grey's Anatomy" fans probably missed some of these minor details from the show.
  • Easter eggs and nods to previous seasons can be found throughout the show going as far back as season one.
  • In the season five premiere, Meredith dreamt of Derek being killed in a car accident. Six seasons later, that's exactly how he died.

After 14 seasons and 312 episodes, it’s safe to say that "Grey’s Anatomy" is a powerhouse of a show with a huge following. Fans are always looking for clues that Shonda Rhimes may have left, letting us know what could be to come in the next episodes.

Fans of "Grey’s Anatomy" have learned to pay close attention to every single detail in the show, because sometimes even the littlest things can predict huge events later on. The special 300th episode was full of Easter eggs and nods back to previous seasons, but similar moments are sprinkled all throughout the show — even going back as far as season 1.

Was Derek’s passing planned from the start? Will Christina Yang ever come back? Did you know that one episode of "Grey’s Anatomy" was actually a social experiment on the audience? Shonda Rhimes and "Grey’s Anatomy" just keeps us guessing and surprises the fans with new information at every turn.

Alex Karev's CGI appearance

Believe it or not, "Grey’s Anatomy" almost didn’t include fan favorite Alex Karev. He’s one of only four characters who has made it through all 14 seasons — along with Meredith Grey, Miranda Bailey, and Richard Weber — but Karev almost wasn’t a character on the show at all.

When the pilot episode was shot, Karev wasn’t even present. He had to be digitally added into the episode later, a detail hard to ignore after seeing it. Apparently, the writers realized they wanted a male who could play the opposite of George O’Malley.

Karev’s "rough around the edges" character was the perfect opposite to the nervous, shy O’Malley. It’s a good thing the writers decided to add him because at this point it’s hard to picture what "Grey’s Anatomy" would be without Karev.

"Dream a Little Dream of Me"

The episode titled “Dream a Little Dream of Me” is the first episode of the fifth season of "Grey’s Anatomy." There are many things about this episode, including the title name, that may have foreshadowed Derek Shepherd’s eventual passing later in the series.

In this episode, Meredith is having vivid dreams of Derek losing his life in an accident. As most fans know, Derek does eventually pass from complications related to a car accident in season 11. Not only did Meredith’s dreams predict how Derek would leave, six seasons ahead of time, she even says at one point in the episode, "It’s the nightmares that always seem to become reality. The person that invented the phrase ‘Happily ever after’ should have his a– kicked, so hard!"

Did the writers really know this early how Derek’s life would end, and that they wouldn’t get their "happily ever after," or was it all one big coincidence?

Cristina Yang's article

Ever since fan favorite Cristina Yang left the show on the season 10 finale, everyone has been wondering if she’ll make a return. Without her "person," Meredith just hasn’t been the same, and people have been speculating for a while now that Yang will make a comeback.

We may have gotten a hint of her return in a recent episode where Meredith asks Teddy if she’s read Cristina’s latest article.

The camera then briefly cuts to a shot of the article along with Cristina’s picture, which was definitely quick and easy to miss if you looked away even for a second. It could just be a way of keeping Cristina relevant in Meredith’s life — we like to think they stay in contact way more than the show lets on — or it could be an actual hint that we may be seeing more of Cristina again soon.

Trump South Korea Moon

Following North Korea's overtures of reconciliation beginning in January, the regime has made several diplomatic moves to indicate it is willing to resume talks between the US and neighboring South Korea.

After sending a delegation of athletes and members of the ruling family to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, North Korea has made significant strides in thawing relations — though some political observers remain skeptical of the regime's motives.

Here are the latest developments between the US, South Korea, and North Korea:

SEE ALSO: North Korea is suspiciously calm about one of its biggest complaints — and it may be a trap for the US

During her trip to South Korea, Kim Yo Jong — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister — delivered a letter to South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The letter indicated a willingness to foster better relations between the Koreas. There was also an invitation to visit Pyongyang, North Korea's capital.

Kim Yo Jong's trip to South Korea marked the first time since the Korean War that a ruling family member of the North Korean regime visited the country.

North Korea then sent Kim Yong Chol, the country's vice chairman of the ruling Worker's Party Central Committee and the country's former intelligence chief, to South Korea for the Closing Ceremony at the Winter Olympics. Following Yo Jong's lead, Yong Chol also delivered a bombshell announcement: that North Korea was willing to hold diplomatic talks with the US.

Previous years have seen an abundance of flower crowns, neon wigs, glittering body suits, and an array of standout outfits planned meticulously for the two weekends out west. But 2018 attendees seem to be taking a sportier approach to style, swapping florals for cargo and sandals for chunky sneakers.

Take a look at how celebrities like Rihanna, Paris Hilton, and the Victoria's Secret Angels are taking the desert by storm.

Rihanna represented Fenty x Puma in a bubblegum pink bodysuit and black moto pants.

The singer went all-out, hosting an elaborate pool party that tied in the motocross theme with an ATV field, according to W Magazine

Paris Hilton adorned herself in a sheer black dress splashed with a pattern of white stars.

The reality star wore the galaxy-inspired ensemble to Coachella's infamous after party, the Neon Carnival.

Kendall Jenner balanced her tiny bandage crop top with a pair of oversized cargo pants.

She complemented the sporty ensemble with a pair of chunky black sneakers.

Sean Hannity

  • Sean Hannity is one of the biggest stars on Fox News.
  • The Fox New host is also the previously unnamed third client of US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen.
  • After getting his start in radio, Hannity was brought on to co-host a program on Fox News.
  • He's now one of the most prominent and polarizing conservative voices out there.

Sean Hannity isn't just commenting on the news at the moment — he is the news.

The Fox News star was the mysterious third client of President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, several news outlets reported Monday.

It's not the first time the close relationship between the political pundit and the president sparked controversy. In 2016, Hannity told the New York Times, "I never claimed to be a journalist" in response to questions about his role advising Trump.

Hannity may argue that he's not a journalist, but his long media career has been something to behold.

The former college radio host is one of the last remaining members of the original 1996 Fox News lineup, the New York Times reports. And Hannity is now considered one of the president's closest unofficial media advisers.

After high school, Hannity attended New York University, Adelphi University, and UC Santa Barbara for a time. He dropped out of all three. In 2005, Liberty University chancellor Jerry Falwell awarded the Fox News host an honorary degree.

Hannity's first radio gig came about at UC Santa Barbara's college station in 1989. He was sacked after less than a year for telling an LGBTQ caller that he felt sorry for her child and that he thought that anyone who "believes homosexuality is just a normal lifestyle has been brainwashed," according to the New York Times.

On April 16, 2003, Jordan played his last game in the NBA, scoring 15 points in a 107-87 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers before hanging up his sneakers for good.

That game featured a surprising amount of big-name NBA players, some of whom had great careers.

See what happened to the other prominent players from that game.

Michael Jordan played his final game against the Philadelphia 76ers on April 16, 2003, wrapping up a legendary career. He scored 15 points with 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Today, Jordan is the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. He's widely considered the greatest player of all-time, with six championship rings and the fourth-most points scored in NBA history.

Across from Jordan was Allen Iverson, one of the biggest names in the NBA at the time. He led all players that night by scoring 35 points.

Photographers stumbled over themselves to capture Stormy Daniels attending Michael Cohen's hearing in a Manhattan courtroom

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's longtime personal attorney, was present in court on Monday, after being ordered by a federal judge to show up for hearing stemming from an FBI raid on his properties last week.

Cohen and his attorneys sought to prevent federal prosecutors from examining materials seized by the FBI during the raid. The office of the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York has been conducting a criminal investigation related to Cohen's business dealings.

Cohen's communications with Trump and Cohen's other clients were also reportedly seized by the FBI. Both Cohen's and Trump's lawyers have asked a judge to block the Justice Department from reviewing the confiscated materials, due to concerns about attorney-client privilege. The judge denied that request on Monday.

Stormy Daniels, the porn star who Cohen paid $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement over Daniel's claim that she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, was also in court. She was not a party to the proceedings on Monday, but photographers stumbled all over themselves to get pictures of her.

Scroll down to see how the scene played out in front the Manhattan courthouse:

FBI agents reportedly collected 10 physical boxes of evidence from Cohen's properties during their raids last week, according to NBC investigative reporter Tom Winter. Authorities were able to copy electronic files, such as hard drives, on the spot.

Cohen has since argued that his legal team needs to examine the seized evidence so they can determine which ones are protected by attorney-client privilege.

Also present at the hearing was adult film actress Stormy Daniels and her bombastic attorney, Michael Avenatti. They have a separate case against Cohen.

Avenatti, who is locked in a legal battle to void a $130,000 nondisclosure agreement between Daniels and Cohen, denied that his client's presence was meant to provoke Cohen.

"It's intending to send a message that this is a very, very serious matter for her, and she wants to make sure that the American people know that she's behind efforts to bring to light as much information and documents as possible," Avenatti reportedly said.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, also gave a statement after the hearing.

"Mr. Cohen has acted like he is above the law, he has considered himself and openly referred to himself as Mr. Trump's fixer," Clifford said. "He has played by a different set of rules or should we say no rules at all. He has never thought that the little man, or especially women or even more women like me, matter. That ends now."

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, arrives at federal court in the Manhattan surrounded by a gaggle of photographers.
