15 movies that are being revived for a new generation

dumbo tim burton movie

Hollywood loves its remakes and reboots. A tried and tested concept that comes with a built-in audience and an opportunity to attract a new generation of viewers is just way more appealing to studios than taking a chance on an original story.

Everything old is new again and the industry has no plans to stop capitalizing on the money making power of nostalgia. Be it a gender-swapped update or a familiar story retold and expanded for the small screen, Hollywood is using every avenue available.

Here are 15 movies being revived for a new generation on both the the big and small screens.

"Four Weddings and a Funeral"

Rom-com aficionado Mindy Kaling is giving new life to "Four Weddings and a Funeral." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has ordered an anthology TV series inspired by the 1994 British romantic comedy that starred Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell. Written and executive produced by Kaling, the series will follow a group of friends as their lives intersect through five events.

"A League of Their Own"

There's no crying in baseball, but there will be cause for tears if Amazon screws up the TV series adaptation of the 1992 movie "A League of Their Own." A half-hour series about the women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League is currently in development.

The show promises a "contemporary take" on the formation of the league in 1943 and will follow the Rockford Peaches from "season to season as they struggle to keep the team alive through close games, injuries, late night bar crawls, sexual awakenings, not crying and road trips across a rapidly changing United States."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will not feature characters from the movie, which starred Geena Davis, Lori Petty and Tom Hanks.

A TV adaptation of the movie was previously attempted by CBS in 1993, however the series was quickly canceled.

"Less Than Zero"

"Less Than Zero," the 1985 novel by Bret Easton Ellis, about wealthy, drug-addled college kids from Los Angeles got the movie treatment in 1987, and now it's in development as a TV series at Hulu. According to Variety, the show will follow a college freshman who returns home for Christmas to spend time with his ex-girlfriend and his friend who struggles with addiction.

14 concealer mistakes you're making that are ruining your makeup

clueless makeup

Even if you’re blessed with relatively blemish-free skin, there’s a good chance you rely on concealer in your beauty arsenal, and with good reason. From hiding your under-eye circles to covering pimples, concealer does it all.

Even though concealer is a beauty staple for most of us, there’s a good chance you’re probably doing something wrong with it. Whether you’re wearing the wrong formula for your unique skin type and or sporting the wrong shade for your color, it’s likely you’re guilty of one of the following mistakes.

We’ve got the top concealer mistakes you’re probably making, and the easy fixes you need to get your conceal game on point — no complicated tutorials or multi-step routines necessary.

You’re not testing it out first.

You could be making a mistake before you even take your new product home. These days, it’s easier than ever to find the perfect shade and formula for you. Most retailers allow you to try a product before you buy it or return opened products that didn’t work out for you.

Still, too many of us don’t take the time to test out a new concealer. As Dr. Debra Jaliman, a board-certified NYC dermatologist, assistant professor of Dermatology Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai told PopSugar, “One should always test a concealer out in the store. Most places have testers where you can try the concealers before choosing one.”

Dr. Jaliman explains that “some people have sensitive skin or have skin conditions such as acne and rosacea, and certain concealers can aggravate those conditions.”

Wearing the product a full day in your normal routine can help determine if it’s the best product for you.

You need to up your skincare game.

It’s easy to think of concealer as a magic tool that hides, well, anything you want to hide. But to get the most bang for your beauty buck, you’ll want to prep skin as best as possible before you apply your makeup in the morning.

“Exfoliating on a regular basis is crucial for getting rid of dead skin cells that accumulate and don't let makeup go on smoothly,” says Dr. Jaliman, who explained the importance of exfoliation to PopSugar. Most of us should aim to exfoliate one to three times a week, depending on your skin type, to eliminate any flakiness and dead skin cells.

There is no shortage of great exfoliating cleansers, masks, tools, and serums out there for most skin types. You’ll also want to make sure you’re moisturizing every day and only applying makeup to clean, dry skin.

You’re skipping primer.

Primer is the small-but-mighty product none of us should skip.

Primer helps “set the stage” for long-lasting wear, ensuring that all your makeup (concealer included) lasts no matter where your day takes you. It also gives skin a smooth canvas on which to apply your products.

You’ll want to start with clean skin, add your preferred moisturizers and serums, wait it out a bit so that skin is dry, then add primer, and presto — you’re well on your way to a flawless beauty game.

best acne spot treatment

The Insider Pick:

  • Acne treatments are a quick and easy way to banish blemishes without having to switch up your entire skincare routine.

  • Our top pick is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion because it is an effective spot treatment that acts fast to draw impurities from the skin and shrinks pimples overnight.

Even those of us blessed with clear skin have to deal with a dreaded pimple from time to time. Thankfully there is a way to zap zits fast that doesn’t involve popping them! You can avoid making the blemish worse by reaching for an acne treatment that will target individual spots head-on.

While other acne treatments are applied to your entire face to fight breakouts, topical spot treatments are used to target individual pimples and quickly shrink them without scaring or disrupting the rest of your face.

Most options feature varying amounts of salicylic acid as their active ingredient, which works to clear clogged pores and banish the bacteria found inside the blemish. Some also feature ingredients that work to reduce redness and soothe skin, while others help prevent future breakouts.

With acne spot creams, gels, patches, and even concealers available, finding the right one for you can feel overwhelming. So we did the research to find the best-reviewed acne treatments you can buy.

Here are the best acne treatments:

Read on in the slides below to check out our top picks.

The best acne treatment overall

Why you'll love it: The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion features two separated solutions in one bottle that work together to shrink the appearance of pimples overnight.

The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is an acne spot treatment formulated with salicylic acid, sulfur and zinc oxide to draw out impurities as you sleep. Its fast-acting shrinking powers have made it a firm favorite with beauty editors, industry insiders, and celebrities like Kylie Jenner.

While salicylic acid and sulfur are common ingredients in spot treatments, the drying lotion also contains calamine lotion to provide a soothing effect on your skin. The treatment can be easily applied with a cotton swab and is recommended to be used at night due to the pink coloring.

Our senior commerce editor Ellen Hoffman is a fan, calling the product “magic.” She also said that it “dries out whiteheads while you sleep so they're virtually gone by the next morning.” The drying lotion has won numerous awards, including a 2017 Acne Award from Teen Vogue for Best Spot Treatment.

The lotion has an Amazon’s Choice recommendation because of its high ratings, with 2,176 buyers giving it a 4.2 out of 5-star rating. Plus, more than 7,500 reviewers on Influenster gave it a 4.52-star rating. One reviewer named Erica wrote, “This drying lotion is perfect for helping my pimples disappear overnight! I put it on the break out before bed and in the morning it is gone.”

While most reviewers raved about the product’s zit zapping powers, a few noted that they wished it wasn’t pink so they could use it during the day as well.

Pros: Shrinks blemishes overnight, works quickly, calms skin, draws out impurities

Cons: Can’t wear during the day if leaving the house

The best drugstore acne treatment

Why you'll love it: Looking for an affordable spot treatment that reduces the size and redness of pimples quickly? Try the Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Treatment.

The Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Treatment is a clear gel that works quickly to shrink zits of every size. The product’s maximum strength 2% salicylic acid helps dissolve surface oil around the blemish and penetrates the pore to clean it from the inside out.

The gel also features witch hazel, which helps soothe skin and prevents it from drying out. The gel has been clinically proven to give 100% of testers clearer looking skin in just one day. Since the spot treatment is a clear gel, it can be used during the day or night.

Clean & Clear's gel has won an Allure Best of Beauty Award twice and has a 4-star rating on Influenster with almost 8,500 reviews.

One shopper named Ashlee raved, “This is the best nonprescription acne medicine you will ever try. It decreases size within a day and it lessens redness overnight. This is the best you can get for the money. I would buy it again and again.”

Some buyers did note it they weren’t a fan of the strong chemical smell but said it fades quickly after application.

Cons: Strong smell

The best acne treatment patch

Why you'll love them: The Peter Thomas Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots are a mess-free spot treatment that quickly shrinks blemishes without irritating the surrounding skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots are clear round patches formulated with salicylic acid and tea tree oil that work together to eliminate pimples fast. Just cover your zit with one of the sticky patches, and the dot will work overnight to shrink the pimple’s size while also helping to prevent future breakouts.

Each box comes with 72 patches total in a variety of small and large dots so you can switch up the patch size depending on the how big the blemish is. The patches work on all skin types including normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive.

The product has over 10,000 likes on Sephora, with one reviewer saying, “I've tried so many on-the-spot acne treatments, that I was skeptical when someone recommended this product. However, I was wildly impressed with the results and felt it my duty to tell everyone I know about this product. The stickers are easy to use, comfortable, and hardly noticeable. I'm so pleased with this purchase, and so relieved to have these in zit-emergencies!”

Some buyers were put off by the high price point, but most said the product was worth the cost. If you want to spend about $10 less, you should try the Mighty Patch, which we also like.

In her review of the Mighty Patch, our writer Connie Chen wrote, "As someone who has struggled with acne-prone skin for years, I'm often skeptical of supposed quick-fix solutions, but the effectiveness of the Mighty Patch stickers have made me a convert."

Pros: Effective spot treatment, shrinks blemishes quickly, mess-free

Cons: Expensive

A complete guide to all of Amazon's devices — what they do and which to buy

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

Kindle 1

Though Amazon initially launched more than 20 years ago selling books and other brands' stuff, it has since produced an impressive collection of its own products and services — including private-label clothes, food, and furniture, plus music and video streaming services, grocery delivery services, and tech devices — to sell alongside offerings from other brands.

We've written extensively about all the ways Amazon has expanded into nearly every type of product and service imaginable, but the strides it has made in the realm of smart home devices, tablets, and e-readers are particularly successful and notable.

Since it seems like Amazon is always releasing a new device or new version of an existing device, we created a guide that will help you make sense of them all and figure out which one you actually want to buy. We've categorized them by type of device and included at-a-glance comparisons of the different models of each.

Keep reading to learn about Amazon's portfolio of devices, which include Echo devices, Fire tablets and TVs, and Kindle e-readers.

Echo devices

You probably know that the Echo is a smart home device, but all the variations can be difficult to differentiate. Each one utilizes Alexa to accomplish any number of tasks, from answering questions to reordering supplies on Amazon. Depending on your budget and preferences, you'll probably prefer one model over another. Here's a quick comparison:

  • Echo Dot, $49.99: A small, compact way to add Alexa to any room.
  • Echo Dot Kids, $79.99: Features a kid-friendly version of Alexa, parental controls, and a year of FreeTime Unlimited (Amazon's educational content subscription).
  • Echo, $99.99: All the functionalities of the Echo Dot, but with room-filling dual speakers.
  • Echo Spot, $129.99: Has a small screen to let you video-chat, watch videos, and see content at a glance.
  • Echo Plus, $149.99: A taller Echo, with a built-in hub to help you easily set up other smart home devices.
  • Echo Show, $159.99: Combines the speaker quality of the Echo and Echo Plus with the visual capabilities of the Echo Spot.
  • Echo Look, $199.99: A style assistant that helps you discover, decide on, and share looks.

The Echo topped other devices like the Google Home for our pick of the best smart speaker you can buy right now, but through July 2, you can get a 25% discount on any Echo device with Amazon's trade-in program.

Fire tablets

Fire tablets are optimized for the best portable entertainment experience, whether you like to watch movies or play games. There are three main types, and the number refers to the display size. All are available in bright colors and have high-quality video recording features, so their main differences come down to resolution, storage size, battery life, and audio capabilities.

  • Fire 7, $49.991024 x 600 (171 ppi) resolution, built-in Alexa function, 8 or 16 GB storage, eight-hour battery life, mono speaker.
  • Fire 7 Kids, $99.99: Same specs as the 7 above, but does not include Alexa. It does include one year of FreeTime Unlimited, two-year worry-free guarantee, and a kid-proof case.
  • Fire HD 8, $79.991280 x 800 (189 ppi) resolution, built-in Alexa function, 16 or 32 GB storage, 12-hour battery life, Dolby dual speakers.
  • Fire HD 8 Kids, $129.99: Same specs as the 8 above, but does not include Alexa. It does include one year of FreeTime Unlimited, two-year worry-free guarantee, and a kid-proof case.
  • Fire HD 10, $149.991920 x 1200 (224 ppi) resolution,built-in Alexa function, 32 or 64 GB, 10-hour battery life, Dolby dual speakers.

We think the Fire HD 8 is the perfect balance of power and price, and though we still prefer the iPad over the Fire HD 10, the Fire HD 10 is certainly more affordable. Pick up the right accessories and these tablets become even better.

Fire TV

Armed with a Fire TV device and your favorite streaming subscriptions, including Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, you'll feel like traditional cable is truly a thing of the past. Fire TV devices also utilize Alexa for convenient hands-free control, so you don't have to juggle or manage yet another remote control.

  • Fire TV Stick, $39.99: A small streaming media player that plugs into any TV's HDMI port, 8 GB storage.
  • Fire TV, $69.99: Has 4K Ultra HD and HDR, ultra-fast quad-core processor that delivers a smoother, more responsive experience than the Fire TV Stick, 8 GB storage.
  • Fire TV Cube, $119.99: Has 4K Ultra HD and HDR, built-in speaker, far-field voice control, ethernet support, 16 GB storage.

The Fire TV Stick is better for less committal or budget-conscious watchers (and wins over the popular Roku Streaming Stick), while the Fire TV and Fire TV Cube have features that take the TV-watching experience to the next level

The best summer treat you can eat in every state

ice cream cone

  • One of the best parts of summer is the food, especially if you have plans to travel or take a cross-country road trips.
  • All 50 states of the US have their specialties — Vermont's is Ben & Jerry's ice cream, North Carolina has the best pulled pork sandwiches, and Nebraska invented the "tin roof sundae."
  • Seasonal fruits and warm weather cravings are some of the best ways to explore each state's culture.

Across the country, we wait eagerly for summer's seasonal fruits, fried treats, and nostalgic snacks. These 50 are always worth the wait.

We'll say it: Food is the best part of summer — and every state has a favorite summer treat, from deep-fried delicacies at county fairs to just-caught seafood on the docks. When the weather is warm, it's the best time of year to get your fruit freak on and go all-out with backyard barbecue. Or head to a seasonal festival and indulge in local oddities like boiled peanuts, sauerkraut balls, and ice cream potatoes. Many of these foods are at their peak or only available in the summertime, while some just taste best on a hot, sunny day. When you travel across the United States this summer, seek out these seasonal eats, grab a seat at the picnic table, and dig in!

Alabama: Fried green tomatoes

You can turn them into pickles, jam, or salsa, but green tomatoes approach the divine when breaded with cornmeal and fried. Crunchy on the outside and smokin' hot in the middle, these juicy treats are often served in the South with a zesty remoulade or a dollop of pimento cheese. And nobody does it better than Alabama. Bite into heaven at the Irondale Café, the hangout that helped inspire the movie Fried Green Tomatoes

Alaska: King crab legs

Brave souls on fishing boats risk their lives to haul in these colossal crustaceans — and to create reality TV gold on Deadliest Catch. King crab legs are succulent, especially expensive, and totally worth it. Try them at their freshest with a side of melted butter at Tracy's King Crab Shack on the Juneau waterfront.

Arizona: Chimichanga

Once upon a time, a chef accidentally dropped a beef burrito into the deep fryer and the chimichanga was born. Or so the story goes. Multiple Arizona chefs take credit for this serendipitous mistake, but others claim that the chimichanga arrived with Mexican immigrants from Sonora. One thing is certain: This crispy burrito is all over Arizona. Pair it with a prickly pear margarita while gazing at a crimson desert sunset.

The only 3 Marvel movies you need to watch before seeing 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'

$

ant man and the wasp

You definitely don't need to re-watch all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 19 movies before seeing "Ant-Man and the Wasp" in theaters.

But it would be helpful to catch up on a few of the movies if you plan on seeing the movie July 6. The "Ant-Man" sequel has a few key throwbacks that may leave you asking some questions if you're not up to speed.

Don't have time to go through every Marvel movie? No problem. INSIDER has rounded up the essential movies to binge, from least important to most valuable.

3. "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018)

You don't need to watch "Avengers: Infinity War" to understand the majority of "Ant-Man and the Wasp." The actual film stands alone on its own.

But if you want to fully comprehend the first of two end-credits scenes, you'll want to know the basics of what happens at the end of "Infinity War." The first of two extra scenes catches up with the very end of May's "Avengers" movie when Thanos snaps his fingers. No spoilers here, but you can read more on the shocking end to "Infinity War" here.

2. "Ant-Man" (2015)

If you've never seen "Ant-Man" or are a bit fuzzy on how Scott Lang wound up with the Ant-Man suit, you may want to catch up on how he met Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly) in the first film.

This will also provide you with the info you'll need on the Quantum Realm, which not only is at the heart of the sequel, but will probably come into play in the next "Avengers" sequel. If you want to forego the first film, the sequel does give you a quick refresher on how Hope's mother became trapped in the Quantum Realm.

A re-watch will also clear up how Hope and Scott's tricky relationship began in the first film and answer why Ant-Man is flying around on ants and how he's able to control the small insects. I don't think the original film is better than the sequel, but maybe you also want to stick around for some shirtless scenes of Rudd.

1. "Captain America: Civil War"

"Civil War" is the best movie to watch before heading into "Ant-Man and the Wasp." It's referenced quite a few times at the film's start and will explain why Rudd is under house arrest for two years.

Moreso, it will explain why Hank Pym and his daughter Hope are upset with Lang for stealing the Ant-Man suit to help a fugitive (Captain America) escape the law. Cap's name gets thrown around several times throughout the movie as well as the Sokovia Accords, legislation that calls for the registration of all superheroes.

There's also some funny interaction between Scott Lang and the other superheroes. Plus, you'll see the first use of Ant-Man transforming into Giant Man.

12 real-life first date horror stories that’ll make you cringe

$

date

Anyone who has ever used a dating app should know that the odds of actually having a good date are fairly slim. In fact, being on a dating app for a long time more or less guarantees that, at some point, you will have a truly awful date. Or, in some cases, a truly horrifying date.

In a recent Reddit thread, people shared their dating horror stories. And although none of them are bad enough to scare you off from dating for life, they'll make you thankful for all of the good dates you've been on.

INSIDER was unable to independently verify these stories, but they're still fun to read.

1. He leaned in for a kiss and pooped his pants.

"I literally had a guy lean in to kiss me and s--- his pants. He was like, 'it feels really warm in my underwear for some reason.' Then I could smell what seemed to be a baby diaper. He ran into the bathroom and said he'd be free balling the rest of the night." - Reddit user josh_t_bone

2. He (probably) had filthy hands.

"I met up with a guy at a bar. It was like pulling teeth to talk with him. I try to talk about travel — 'I don't see why anyone would ever want to leave the US.' I try to talk about running — 'I don't know why people run for fun.' Finally he contributes something as says he likes cars. So I tell him about how my brother just purchased an Aston Martin.

'Aston Martins are shit. I really only like Camaros.' I tell him I drove an old Camaro for nine years — 'You don't know s--- about cars.' (I don't, not going to deny that...but really, all I said was that I drove a Camaro from age 16-25).

Then, to top in off, he starts talking about No Fap...and how he tried that but it just made him angry, so he followed strict 'masturbate once every three days' policy. He said it gave him sizeable loads without affecting his mood.

Check please. Separate, duh.

As we part ways, he tries to go in for a hand shake.

I jokingly ask if he masturbated today. He says yes. I ask if he washed his hands. He hesitates. I smile and say bye, leaving his hand hanging out there.

By the time I get home, he has deleted me from Tinder." - Reddit user Chaharlot

3. He didn't know when to leave.

"I had a guy come over and he was attractive so we had sex and then went to sleep. I had to wake this kid up at noon and be like OK, I have to get ready for work, you need to leave.

So he started to get dressed and couldn't find one sock. HE ACCUSED ME OF STEALING IT. He searched through all my drawers and dumped out my dirty clothes hamper looking for it. I ended up finding it weeks later in my sock drawer. I kind of think he planted it there, but I'm not sure why.

So he finally starts to leave and HIS CAR GOT TOWED because he parked exactly where I told him not to. Looking back now I would've told him tough s---, got him an Uber and went to work. But I took him to the car tow place so he could get it back. And of course he doesn't have his wallet. So I had to pay for it, and sign for it because he doesn't have an ID on him. BUT the car tow place DOESN'T TAKE CARDS so we had to go find an ATM to get cash.

So he finally gets his car, I'm already like 30 minutes late to work, and he goes, 'Okay I'll call you later' and I just said 'Never talk to me again.'

He texted a few hours later and said he lost the stylus for his phone. I blocked his number." - Reddit user Shmalloryrenee

In September 2017, Meghan Markle stepped out in a pair of Mother jeans. The skinny jeans were ripped in one place, the knee, and frayed at the hem—giving them a look that felt simultaneously stylish, cozy, and a little bit trendy.

Of course, it didn't take long for the jeans (specifically, Mother's Looker Ankle Fray Love Gun jean) to sell out after Markle was photographed wearing them. And they've remained unavailable for months—well, until today. As it turns out, Mother just restocked the Looker Ankle Fray Love Gun jean, and you can snag a pair of your own for $228.

"Fit for royalty," Mother writes in the Looker Ankle Fray Love Gun's description. "A skinny silhouette that hugs from hip to hem with a snip at the end. Clean cut with a touch of edge." Hmm, fit for royalty? We see you, Mother.

If $228 seems like too much cash to drop on a pair of jeans right now, we feel you. I mean, it's summer sale season — justifying spending more than $50 on anything (even something a bonafide princess wore) is pretty hard. But don't worry, no matter what your denim budget is, we've got you covered.

Scroll down for a shopping link to the exact Mother jeans Markle wore last September, and flip through the slideshow for similar pairs that, you know, don't cost $228. Because money shouldn't preclude you from looking like straight-up royalty.

Kansas Back Country

Road trips can create summer memories that last long after the leaves start to change. But they also have the potential to be pretty disappointing.

WalletHub compared all 50 US states based on 31 metrics in three main categories — cost, safety, and activities — to determine the worst states to drive through on a summer road trip. They also established separate rankings for each of those overarching categories.

Each of the 31 metrics considered in the rankings were graded on a 100-point scale. They then determined each state's weighted average across all of the metrics to calculate its overall score and ranked the states accordingly. The lower the total score, the worse the road trip.

Of course, every state has its own has beautiful scenic drives and quirky roadside attractions — this analysis is strictly a numbers game based on gas prices, car accident statistics, number of attractions per capita, and other factors.

Amazon is giving Prime members 10% off sale items at Whole Foods and weekly discounts on best-selling items.

The deals rolled out last month to some Whole Foods stores and expanded Wednesday to all stores nationwide.

I visited a Whole Foods store in Richmond, Virginia, to check them out. Here's what I found:

A blue banner hung outside the store, advertising the new Prime member deals. As I got closer to the entrance, I spotted the first deal: three bottles of Honest Tea lemonade for the price of one.

Outside the doors, I saw an information board announcing the week's promotions, which included discounts on organic cherries, organic yellow peaches, and Mochi ice cream.

Stepping inside, I was greeted by more Prime signage. Two people wearing Prime-branded aprons approached customers and asked whether they would consider signing up for Amazon Prime, if they weren't already members.

Here are the standings for Group H after two rounds.

Group H is wide open right now, with Japan, Senegal, and Colombia all in control of their respective destinies heading into the final matches of the group stage. Only Poland — the favorite to win the group before the tournament began — has been eliminated, but Robert Lewandowski and company will still have the opportunity to play spoiler against Japan.

Japan

Chances to advance: 81%

Scenarios to advance:

  • Japan advances if they win or draw with Poland
  • If Japan loses to Poland, Japan can still advance if Senegal beats Colombia

One thing to know: Japan's comeback draw against Senegal was one of the most thrilling matches so far at the 2018 World Cup, and put Samurai Blue in a position to advance as long as they can secure a point from Poland.

Colombia

Chances to advance: 61%

Scenarios to advance:

  • Colombia advances with a win over Senegal
  • If Colombia draws with Senegal, Colombia will still advance if Poland beats Japan

One thing to know: James Rodriguez may have won the Golden Boot in 2014, but its his passing that has been the highlight of the Colombian side so far this World Cup. If he can set up his teammates a few more times against Senegal, Colombia will be through to the knockout stage.

'Fortnite: Battle Royale' just got a huge new update — here's the new mode and weapons

Fortnite on switch

For months now, "Fortnite: Battle Royale" has kept players on their toes with weekly — and sometimes daily — updates to the game, including new character skins, limited-time game modes, and fun and interesting challenges.

Some of those updates have been just for fun, and some actually change the way the game is played. For example, in the days leading up to the beginning of Season 4, the game hinted that a meteor shower would change the island forever. When the meteor did hit, it caused a large crater in the enter of the map, turning Dusty Depot into the craterous Dusty Divot. Later, there was even a limited-time tie-in with "Avengers: Infinity War."

The developers have also introduced or removed a few truly game-changing tools, including jetpacks, guided missiles, and even a rideable shopping cart

This week's update is a doozy. Here are the biggest changes, along with everything else that's been introduced to the game in the last few weeks:

NEW MODES: Playground (well, sort of)

This update to "Fortnite: Battle Royale" introduces Playground, the game's first practice area, encouraging players to build elaborate structures, do target practice, and goof off with friends in the first-ever non-competitive mode.

At least, that was the idea.

Not long after the new mode went live Wednesday morning, Epic Games took all Playground servers offline for roughly two hours to investigate matchmaking issues. At the time of publishing, Playground has not been restored. Epic's website doesn't give any projections for when we should be able to play it again.

Videos recorded during the brief window that it was live show that Playground mode allows players to take a break from the fast-paced battle royale formula by roaming through the island with up to three of their friends, without any opponents to shoot at or hide from.

Here's the official trailer:

10 places on your body you didn't realize could get sunburned

$

Heartbreak kid sunburn

Even though there's an overwhelming body of research that proves how dangerous sun exposure can be, too few of us adequately apply sunscreen regularly. This leads to potential sun damage and skin cancer that’s otherwise avoidable by properly protecting our skin.

But even if you are diligent about daily sunscreen use, there’s a solid chance you're not covering all the body parts you should be, leading to sunburns in areas you didn't think could get burned.

Here are 10 body parts you're forgetting to apply sunscreen too, and why it's important to remember them.

Your scalp and hair

It's a dangerous myth that certain body parts don’t burn in the sun. Whether you've got waist-length locks or are totally bald on top, you need to protect your hair and scalp from UV rays emitted by the sun.

The good news is, you don't need to apply goopy, thick sunscreens to your mane in order to protect it because there are plenty of products out there designed with this very concern in mind.

"UV rays can make hair brittle and appear frayed," explained New York City dermatologist Kavita Mariwalla to Allure magazine. "Sunlight is drying and can lighten hair simply from exposure, [and] your scalp, like any other skin on the body, is susceptible to skin cancer."

Choose from a plethora of hair mists, oils, and protective sprays that contain SPF to protect strands from the sun’s harsh rays. For even better protection, wear a hat and sit in the shade when possible.

The back of your neck

Similarly, if you've got hair that covers the back of your neck, it's easy to forget to protect this area. But your hair isn’t an adequate enough protective measure — even though you can’t see it, you’ve got to protect it properly.

"Sun-exposed areas― which often are the head and neck ― [are] where the majority of all skin cancers occur,” Orit Markowitz, associate professor of dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai told HuffPost.

You already know to cover your back in its entirety, especially because your risk of melanoma skyrockets if you burn on your back. But don’t forget to reach a little higher to protect your neck, too.

Your armpits

It’s strangely easy to miss your armpits when you're applying sunscreen, but you definitely shouldn't. Any skin that isn't normally exposed to the sun is extra susceptible to burning, and your pits are no exception. Apply it before deodorant or antiperspirant, giving skin enough time to absorb the product, and be sure to reapply frequently.

best bar carts

The Insider Pick:

  • The perfect bar cart has room to store all the bottles and glasses you need, has wheels for easy mobility, and fits perfectly with every home aesthetic.

  • The Metal and Wood Geneva Bar Cart from World Market is our top pick because it’s sleek, inexpensive, comes with wine and stemware storage, and its versatile look works in any room.

Bar carts are the newest fad in interior decorating, perfectly accompanied by tiny cacti, quote boards, chrome ice buckets, and a bottle of Israel’s finest.

With so much variety, you want to choose the bar cart that’s best for your personal style, whether that’s vintage with stained dark wooden shelves, more modern with glass and gold accents, or more boho-chic with handwoven handles.

You also want your bar cart to meet your storage needs without overcrowding your living room. If you’re a party-thrower, the cart should feature more shelves, hold more weight, and come with more stemware storage. If you’re a Manhattanite in a studio apartment, you may want to downsize and go for a more simple, minimalistic look that can easily be housed in the corner of the room.

We’ve scoured the internet for the top-rated, best-selling bar carts in a variety of price ranges from under $50 to just over $1,700.

The best bar cart overall

Why you'll love it: The World Market Geneva Bar Cart has a versatile look, with both classic wooden shelves and modern metal detailing.

The Geneva bar cart is a modest size, measuring 27 inches wide, approximately 13.4 inches deep, and a little over 34 inches high. It’s large enough to make a statement in a room yet small enough to fit snugly in a corner.

The cart mixes both vintage wood with a modern nickel-finished frame to create a truly elegant look that will complement any room, regardless of individual style. Plus, you can easily remove the cart when the night is over with help from its locking caster wheels.

The built-in wine rack can hold up to five bottles, and the stemware racks can hold at least four glasses, depending on size. The cart also has space for multiple liquor bottles and cocktail shakers, as well as plenty of storage to hold your limes, salt, and all other necessities.

This stylish cart is our first pick due to its wide appeal, nearly 5-star average rating, and affordable price. The Geneva cart also comes recommended by Best Products, and it boasts a 4.5-star rating on World Market’s website. The buyer reviews say the Geneva cart is “very functional,” “the perfect size,” and “very easy to put together.”

A few reviewers complained that they wished the cart were bigger. But other reviewers also said the cart came bigger than they expected. As long as you pay attention to the dimensions and measure to ensure that it'll work in your space, you'll be fine.

Pros: Inexpensive, versatile look for different design styles, additional storage

Cons: May be small based on your storage needs

Buy the World Market Geneva Bar Cart for $199.99

The best bar cart under $50

Why you'll love it: The affordable RASKOG Home Storage Utility Cart is a no-fuss, simplistic bar cart with three shelves that can hold all your bottles.

In beige, black, or red, the versatile, multi-purpose RASKOG cart from Ikea would look as natural filled with an array of craft beers as it would filled with potted eucalyptus plants. It's the bar cart that doesn't even know it's a bar cart.

The cart measures 13.8 by 17.8 by 30.8 inches, so it won't take up to much space in your home. There are four caster wheels on the bottom, so it's easy to move around, too. Because it's all metal, the cart is easy to clean and easy to assemble, according to buyers.

Although it's on the smaller size, Ikea maximized the storage on this cart with three shelves. The middle shelf is adjustable, too, in case you need more room for all your liquor and wine bottles. Best of all, it's very affordable, costing less than $50.

Apartment Therapy called the cart "posh and petite," adding that it's an "inexpensive way to score some extra storage." Around 88% of the 201 Amazon reviewers gave it a perfect 5-star rating, too.

Amazon shopper NaTasha Franklin praised the cart, saying, "Purchased this cart for a Basket Raffle for my daughter's gymnastics team. We made a mobile bar cart with beer, wine, liquor and supplies/tools for drinks. We named it Mommy's Little Helper. It turned out very well and everyone loved this little cart."

Pros: Multi-purpose, affordable, choice of color

Cons: No bar cart-specific features (like a wine-rack)

Buy the RASKOG Home Storage Utility Cart on Amazon for $41.51, $41.99, or $53.99

The best modern bar cart

Why you'll love it: The Holly & Martin Zephs Bar Cart, with its metal frame and tempered glass shelves, is perfect for the modern, art-deco-inspired home.

The Holly & Martin Zephs bar cart is sleek, modern, and stylish with its powder-coated metal frame and tempered glass shelves. At 40 inches wide, 15 inches in diameter, and a little over 37 inches high, this bar cart is slightly larger than the others in our guide, so it's great for the social butterfly who has a lot of cocktail making accessories.

The four separate glass shelves can each hold up to 40 pounds of your favorite cocktail mixings and accessories. The cart's additional bottle and stemware storage can house up to four bottles of wine and eight wine or martini glasses.

One Amazon reviewer found a way to store even more on the cart, claiming “it can fit up to 16 wine glasses, including martini glasses and flutes.”

The reviewer also said that “it was very easy to assemble and only took about an hour to do so. It is extremely functional, spacious, and sturdy. It holds four wine bottles with room underneath for syrups, soda, etc. I never write reviews but this cart deserved one!”

Holly & Martin Zephs' bar cart also comes recommended by New York Magazine’s The Strategist, as it was included in its list of best bar carts.

Pros: Lots of storage, including wine and stemware

Cons: Some reviewers had difficulty with the assembly

What it's like to ride a $13,000 Tour de France road bike

Specialized S Works Venge review

It's not every day you get to drive the fastest car or fly the fastest plane, so when a leading bike brand agreed to let me borrow its fastest bike, I got plenty excited.

The California-based Specialized sent an S-Works Venge ViAS Disc, a whole lot of bike that has won stages in the Tour de France and countless other top races. It's an aero road bike built to do one thing: go fast.

I've been riding this impressively equipped Venge — with wind-cheating ZIPP wheels, the novel electronic shifting eTap, and powerful SRAM disc brakes — for the better part of a year.

Swapping my regular bike for a superbike was like going from a Civic to a Corvette. Here's what it was like.

DON'T MISS: How Trek, America's No. 1 bicycle company, secretly tested the world's lightest production road bike

First impressions: wicked fast, technically crisp, surprisingly comfortable, supremely balanced.

The aero road bike became a thing around the mid-2000s. The new kind of bicycle had a single purpose: to go fast in a straight line.

Engineers tested lightweight carbon-fiber tubes of myriad shapes and sizes to help riders slice through the wind, reduce drag, and go faster. But while the early aero bikes were significantly faster, they handled like time-trial bikes. Over bumpy roads they felt harsh, the handling twitchy. They were not fun to ride.

Thankfully, aero bikes have a come a long way, as has the Venge. Specialized's fastest offering, which has now seen a few iterations, inspires more all-around riding confidence and feels comfortable for a carbon aero bike.

When Specialized rolled out this version of the Venge, in 2016, it said it was the fastest bike it had ever made, as well as "the stiffest and most aerodynamic." That meant something, given that Specialized has its own "Win Tunnel" and for years has been making some of the most sought-after bicycles, which have won just about every race you can name, including world championships, the classics, and grand tours. In fact, the current men's world road champ — and one of the best bike racers of all time — counts a Venge among his quiver.

But let's be clear: You buy an aero bike to be the fastest on your group ride or the first across the finish line. At least now you can have your speed and enjoy it, too, because the dragster has evolved to Formula One.

When it launched this Venge, Specialized claimed the bike would save a rider a whopping 45 seconds over 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) compared with the Tarmac, the company's climbing bike, which itself has since been updated.

Amazon is threatening these 10 industries (AMZN)

Jeff Bezos

  • Amazon never stands still, and it tends to make both investors and executives of other companies nervous.
  • The latest example is Amazon apparently moving into the pharmacy sector with the purchase of online pharmacy PillPack. Pharmacy stocks dropped on the news.
  • These are the industries that have been most impacted by Amazon's aggressive expansion.

Amazon is not a company that is about to sit still — it's always eyeing up its next target.

On Thursday, it announced its intent to purchase PillPack, an online pharmacy. It's the latest in what is turning out to be a heavy push into healthcare for the retail giant. In January, the company announced a collaboration with JPMorgan and Berkshire Hathaway meant to reduce healthcare costs for US workers.

Amazon has a tendency to make other companies nervous with its bold moves, and investors tend to get a bit weak in the knees when Amazon seems to be targeting the sector their company operates in. On news of the PillPack purchase, pharmacy stocks like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens Boots Alliance dropped.

Amazon is known for its aggressive growth and when it thrives, other companies suffer.

These are 10 industries that Amazon is threatening:

SEE ALSO: Amazon merged 2 of its most important teams, and it reflects a huge evolution for the company

Electronics retailers

While Best Buy has been under siege by Amazon for years, the electronics retailer long had one advantage: the Geek Squad of employees ready to help customers with technical difficulties.

However, in July 2017, Amazon started rolling out a sort of Geek Squad of its own, in the form of Smart Home Consultations.

Best Buy hasn't stood still, however, and it recently launched its own upgraded subscription version of Geek Squad, which offers unlimited tech support for $200 a year for all devices and appliances.

Consumable manufacturers

The future of batteries may be online — and that's bad news for companies like Energizer

While online sales of batteries only make up roughly 5% of total battery sales today, UBS said in a note last year that it expects that figure to rise to 17% by 2025. With Amazon making up roughly 90% of online battery sales and its own private-label battery brand, it could create some major complications for Energizer.

Department stores

Macy's and other department stores, such as JCPenney, are facing off against Amazon — and coming up short.

"Internet retailers (led by Amazon) have added $27.8 billion to their apparel revenue since 2005, while dept stores have lost $29.6 billion," Morgan Stanley analysts wrote in a 2016 note. "This share loss appears at risk of accelerating given 1) Amazon's bigger push into fashion, and 2) consumer willingness/acceptance to shop fashion through Amazon."

Launching the Prime Wardrobe service in June was "another nail into the department store coffin," Wells Fargo analyst Ike Boruchow wrote in a note to clients.

As the year flies by, the list of canceled TV shows piles up.

Networks have been cutting more and more shows since May, including Fox which canceled comedies "The Mick,""Brooklyn Nine-Nine," and "The Last Man on Earth.""Nine-Nine" will continue on NBC, though.

ABC also canceled the previously renewed "Roseanne" revival in late May, after Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. However, ABC announced a spin-off called "The Conners" without Barr coming this fall.

Amazon kicked off the year with a slew of cancellations, announcing the end of three quirky comedies, including the Golden Globe nominee "I Love Dick" and the comedian Tig Notaro's semi-autobiographical show, "One Mississippi." It canceled Golden Globe nominee "Mozart in the Jungle" in April, after four seasons, and recently canceled "Transparent," which will end after the upcoming fifth season.

The long-running "The Jerry Springer Show" is ending after 27 seasons and 4,000 episodes. NBC's "Timeless," was also canceled for the second year in a row. NBC reversed its first decision to cancel the show last year after fan outcry. However, fans may have a movie to look forward to that gives the series a proper finale, though no official decision has been made.

There are many more cancellations to come, as networks announce the fate of newer shows as well as older ones.

We'll update this list as more are announced.

Here are all the shows that have been canceled this year, including those from networks and Netflix:

Elon-Musk-Risk

What can't Elon Musk do?

On Thursday, Musk turns 47 years old, and he's already racked up a long string of victories.

As CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, founder of The Boring Company, and cofounder of OpenAI, Musk seems to be everywhere all at once, pushing all kinds of incredible new technologies. He's said he won't be happy until we've escaped Earth and colonized Mars.

Between space rockets, electric cars, solar batteries, research into killer robots, and the billions he's made along the way, Musk is basically a real-life Tony Stark — which is why he served as an inspiration for "Iron Man."

But it wasn't always easy for Musk. Here's how he went from getting bullied in school to small-time entrepreneur to CEO of two major companies that seem like they're straight out of science fiction — and how he almost went broke along the way.

This is an update to an article originally published in August 2016.

Elon Musk was born on June 28th, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa.

His father said he's "always been an introvert thinker."

"Where a lot of people would go to a great party and have a great time and drink and talk about all sorts of things like rugby or sport, you would find Elon had found the person’s library and was going through their books," Musk's dad, electronics engineer Errol Musk, said.
