11 couples who are still together from '90 Day Fiancé'

Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno

The couples on "90 Day Fiancé" come up against so many obstacles that have nothing to do with citizenship: Getting married under the pressure of a short time frame, adjusting to life in a new country, living with a partner who once lived across the world. But every once in a while, the show gives us a true love story among all the drama.

Despite the odds they're up against, many of the couples do, eventually, end up marrying, and some of them are still together today. Of course, as fans see on the TLC show, the journey to getting the K1 visa is not an easy one, but there are definitely couples out there who can and do make it work.

Here are some of the couples from "90 Day Fiancé" who are still together today.

Russ and Paola Mayfield are expecting their first child.

Russ and Paola went through a lot of challenges when they got together — including but not limited to Paolo's new modeling career in Miami and her sometimes meddling friend from back home in Colombia, Juan. But today, they're still together, and over the summer, they announced that they're expecting their first child.

"This is the most amazing feeling ever! We can't believe we are going to be parents — we are already so in love with our baby," the couple said in a statement to Us Weekly last July. "We are ready for this new adventure and we know it will bring us closer together. God has blessed us again, and this time, we are going as strong as our baby's heartbeat!"

David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan have beat the odds.

Watching them on "90 Day Fiancé" didn't give viewers much hope for David and Annie's future, but the couple is still together to this day.

No word on how David's kids are feeling about the state of their relationship, and in September, while visiting Jenny McCarthy's XM radio show, Annie admitted that they're still living in that storage unit from the show.

Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet are expecting a baby girl.

When Andrei first arrived in America from Moldova, Elizabeth's family wasn't sure he was dating her for the right reasons. But now, they've been married for almost a full year and are expecting their first baby together in 2019. The happy couple announced the news in a video on the TLC website in October.

These 7 states have the worst homelessness crises in the US. They also have some of the most expensive housing.

homeless seattle 2

Talk of homelessness in America tends to center on the most visible crises: open-air drug markets in San Francisco, crowded encampments in Los Angeles, cardboard shelters in New York, and tent cities in Seattle.

But even these harrowing conditions don't capture the full scope of homelessness in the US.

Although homelessness is declining by around 14% nationwide, 16 states have seen their homeless populations increase since 2007. In that time, states with a relatively small number of homeless residents like Wyoming and South Dakota have seen an increase of more than 62%. North Dakota, meanwhile, has seen a troubling 71% rise in its homeless population.

Read more: San Francisco's 'cruel and inhuman' homelessness crisis is a human rights violation

One way to evaluate the extent of homelessness in America is to look at the share of homeless residents relative to a state's population size. This controls for the fact that states with more residents tend to have higher homeless populations. It also gives an indication of some of the nation's worst crises, where restrictive policies or a lack of affordable housing may contribute to the large number of people living on the streets.

We crunched the data for the share of homeless residents across all 50 states in America. Here's what homelessness looks like in the seven states with the worst crises (which also have some of the highest housing costs in the US).

District of Columbia

When it comes to the overall share of homeless residents, no state can compare to Washington, DC. Of the district's 694,000 residents, around 7,500 are homeless — a share that amounts to more than 1%. While this may not seem like a lot, it's more than three times the share in California, a state with nearly 57 times the population size.

An analysis from a local homeless services organization, Thrive DC, finds that three-quarters of their clients in DC have been homeless for more than a year. Though many of the people they serve are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault, the organization points to a lack of affordable housing and rising rental prices as the two biggest obstacles to ending homelessness in the district.

Hawaii

In 2015, Hawaii's rising homelessness crisis prompted Governor David Ige to proclaim a state of emergency. As part of the proclamation, Ige made it illegal to sit or lie down on sidewalks and commissioned social workers to move homeless residents off the streets and into shelters.

The policy hasn't done much to curb homelessness in Hawaii, which has the second highest share of homeless residents relative to its population size. From 2007 to 2017, Hawaii saw a 19% increase in its number of homeless citizens — one of the biggest upticks in the country.

New York

With around 89,500 homeless residents, New York's overall share is the third highest in the country. The majority of the state's homeless — around 77,000 residents — hail from New York City, where a lack of affordable housing has left many citizens without a permanent place to live.

Though the city has seen a 43% increase in homelessness in the last decade, not all of its homeless residents are living on the streets or in makeshift dwellings like cars and tents. An official city count found that only one in 20 New York City homeless residents sleep without a roof over their heads. The rest are housed in the city's numerous shelters, which contain more homeless residents than shelters in California, Oregon, and Washington combined.

Just because chicken is pink doesn't always mean it's unsafe — here's how to tell if it's OK to eat

pink chicken

  • Undercooked poultry can pose serious health risks.
  • However, pink chicken can still be safe to eat if reaches the right temperature.
  • The meat of safely cooked chicken can stay pink for a number of different reasons.

There's a reason your server never asks if you'd like your chicken served rare. Undercooked poultry can pose a serious health threat. That's why you should never eat cooked chicken that still looks pink inside, right?

Actually, the answer to that question isn't entirely straightforward.

It is true that if you eat undercooked chicken, you run the risk of contracting potentially lethal bacteria.

It's dangerous to eat raw or undercooked chicken due to the possible presence of bacteria such as salmonella or campylobacter.

According to Mayo Clinic, salmonella can normally be found in the gut of many different types of farm animals but is especially common in chickens. When humans are infected by Salmonella, they can experience food poisoning, gastroenteritis, enteric fever, typhoid fever, and other serious illnesses. If the infection spreads beyond the intentional tract, it cancause life-threatening complications.

Campylobacter can also invade your system if you eat undercooked poultry or food that has touched undercooked poultry. According to WebMD,it can cause diarrhea, bloating, fever, vomiting, and bloody stools. Though most people recover in about a week, some people can experience serious complications.

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria is also becoming a public health concern. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC)reported 14 multi-state salmonella outbreaks as of October 2018, according to Consumer Reports. The most recent salmonella outbreak was caused by tainted chicken andsickened 92 people. The strain was discovered to be resistant to multiple types of antibiotic drugs, making it more challenging to treat.

It turns out that temperature – not the color of the meat or juices – is the best way to tell when chicken is safe to eat.

Cooking chicken thoroughly is the best way to kill dangerous pathogens, but looks can be deceiving.

According to the USDA,the temperature is the best and only real way to tell if chicken is fully cooked and ready to eat. That means that all parts of the chicken should reacha minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit before you dig in.

In some cases, this means that a perfectly cooked chicken might still be a little pink inside. As long as you take the bird's temperature with a cooking thermometer at multiple places – not just the thigh – and get a reading at or above 165 degrees, a rosy tingeshouldn't be a health concern.

And what about the advice that a chicken's juices should run clear before you take it off the heat? Though clear juices can be one indication of thorough cooking, only a thermometer will be able to gauge if a chicken is done. If the temperature is right, don't fret if those juices seem a little pink.

There are actually a few reasons why chicken meat sometimes stays pink after cooking.

So why would thoroughly cooked chicken stay pink? Everything from the age of the bird to the way it was raised can influence the color of its meat.

The pink color in the meat of safely cooked chicken isparticularly common in young birds. The bones of younger chickens are more permeable than older animals, which can allow the bone marrow to leak into the surrounding meat and produce a pink color. The hemoglobin in chicken tissues can also create a heat-stable color that lingers even after the bird has been thoroughly cooked.

A red or pink tinge can even be causedby the chicken's diet, the way the meat was frozen, or certain cooking methods such asgrilling or smoking.

changi airport

  • Airports around the world offer different amenities and features.
  • Some airports house museums, swimming pools, and gardens.
  • Other airports feature ice rinks and yoga rooms.

Although most visits to an airport involve long security lines, frustrating flight delays and huge crowds of people, not every airport experience is the same. Some airports go above and beyond to offer visitors a delightful experience during their time in the terminal.

Here are 10 of the coolest airports around the world.

Munich Airport hosts an annual Christmas and Winter Market complete with an ice rink.

Winter is a great time to visit Germany's Munich Airport because the facility hosts an annual Christmas and Winter Market throughout November and December. The airport becomes a winter wonderland complete with live music, programs for children, over 40 food and retail vendors, and even a large rink for ice skating.

Even if you're not visiting the airport during the holiday season, the airport also has an on-premises brewery called Airbräu that offers brewery tours and beer year-round.

Pamper yourself at Dubai International airport.

Pampering is a priority at Dubai International in the United Arab Emirates, the self-described world's busiest airport. While at the airport you can take laps in a swimming pool; unwind in the jacuzzi, sauna, or steam room; and even take a free shower between flights if you're feeling less than pristine.

Plus, the airport has multiple spa facilities if you're looking for a massage, pedicure, or manicure.

Hamad International Airport has a cool design inspired by water.

Hamad International Airport in Qatar has a unique, aquatic design. According to the airport, they feature this water-based design because the airport is all about "the smooth flow of passengers." The airport's overall structure — which comprises materials sourced from 40 different countries — resembles Arabian Gulf waves.

The Emiri terminal resembles sailboats and the mosque is shaped like a drop of water. You can also experience actual water— for a small entrance fee, you can go for a dip in the airport's temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool or relax in a hydrotherapy tub.

Forget the Nintendo Switch — here are 5 reasons to buy the Nintendo 3DS for the kids in your life instead

$

new nintendo 3ds xl

  • The Nintendo Switch is a bonafide hit, and a great console on its own merits.
  • But the Nintendo 3DS family of portable systems might be a better bet for younger Nintendo fans, especially.
  • The consoles are cheaper — the Switch costs $300; the most expensive 3DS is $199.
  • The games are plentiful — the 3DS boasts some all-time great games in the "Super Mario" and "Legend of Zelda" franchises, plus lots and lots of others.
  • For the holiday season, Nintendo is selling an $80 2DS console, which can play just about every 3DS game, bundled with "Super Mario Maker." It's an amazing deal.

Nintendo is on one of the hottest streaks of its 128-year history: The new Nintendo Switch console is a bona fide smash hit, with lots of amazing games available and more to come.

But while the Nintendo Switch is super-great, I'd urge you to at least think twice about picking one up.

While all eyes are on the Switch, the 8-year-old Nintendo 3DS has quietly become one of the best deals in video-game history. You can get started with the Nintendo 3DS for a lot less than the Switch, and play some of the very best games of this or any other generation. It's especially great for the younger generation — the consoles and games are both cheaper, and there are so many timeless classics for them to enjoy.

Here are a few reasons why the Nintendo 3DS might be the console to pick up for the young Nintendo fan in your life this holiday season.

SEE ALSO: Nintendo just unveiled a new portable console — here's what it is and why you should want one

1. Price

The Nintendo Switch costs $299. Meanwhile, the cheapest member of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems costs $79.

Wait, "family" of systems? Stick with me here, because this is where it gets a little complicated. Nintendo offers a selection of consoles, in different shapes and sizes, all of which can play Nintendo 3DS games.

The lineup, as you'll see on store shelves today:

Nintendo 2DS ($79)— Not only is it the cheapest option, but it comes with a game pre-installed. You can buy a 2DS bundled with "Super Mario Maker," a great game that lets you design your own "Super Mario" levels. The drawbacks: It doesn't offer Nintendo's neat glasses-less 3D feature (if that's what you're into), you can't scan Nintendo's Amiibo figurines without a dongle, and it doesn't support buying and downloading classic Super Nintendo games like "Super Mario World," as the others do.

New Nintendo 2DS XL ($150) — The most recent addition to the line, and probably the best balance between power and price on the menu. It boasts a clamshell design, so you can fold it up and shove it in a pocket or backpack without worrying about damaging the screen. The only real trade-off is that you lose that same glasses-less 3D feature. But honestly, you won't miss it. It comes bundled with "Mario Kart 7."

New Nintendo 3DS XL ($199) — The best of the best, the tip of the top. It has all the same specs as the 2DS XL, but also offers that 3D feature. It's not strictly necessary, but the 3DS XL is for those who don't want to limit their options.

2. Aesthetics

Props to Nintendo for letting users customize their Nintendo Switch consoles — you can buy the system's Joy-Con controllers in an expanding range of colors, adding some flair.

But if you want something that really stands out, the 3DS family might be right for you.

The Nintendo 2DS comes in a slick yellow-and-red that matches the construction zone aesthetic of the included "Super Mario Maker" game.

There's also a $159 version of the New Nintendo 2DS that comes in a flashy "Legend of Zelda" motif, to match to included copy of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D." Otherwise, the "Mario Kart 7" bundle comes in a slick black-and-blue design.

3. Battery life

The Nintendo Switch gets three, maybe four hours of battery life when it's not connected to power, depending on what you're playing.

Meanwhile, the New Nintendo 2DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS XL both get around 7 hours of playtime — though you'll get less if you use the 3D effects on the 3DS. The 2DS tops out at around 5.5 hours, which is still better than the Switch.

These are the stores with the best Black Friday discounts

  • Black Friday means massive deals at retailers including Belk, JCPenney, and Kohl's.
  • However, some stores are offering bigger discounts than others, according to an analysis of almost 7,000 Black Friday deals.
  • Here are the top 10 stores that are offering the largest Black Friday deals this year.

As Black Friday grows near, shoppers need to get strategic about where to find the best deals.

The power of Black Friday has cooled in recent years. Stores are more likely to offer deals year-round, and with other major sales day — such as Amazon's Prime Day in July — the kickoff of the holiday shopping season isn't quite what it used to be.

However, that doesn't mean there are not incredible discounts to be found. Shoppers just need to know where to look for them.

WalletHub surveyed nearly 7,000 deals from Black Friday ads of 35 of the largest retailers in the United States. The website then analyzed which retailers were offering the largest average discounts.

Here are the top 10 stores to visit for the biggest possible Black Friday deals this year:

  • LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter formed SpringHill Entertainment years ago to get involved in show business.
  • James' move to Los Angeles has seemingly helped SpringHill Entertainment, which has taken on several projects in recent months.
  • Below is a list of James' current projects, from documentaries to scripted comedy series.

LeBron James has been involved in Hollywood for some time, and though he says his move to the Los Angeles Lakers wasn't about the entertainment business, it didn't hurt.

James and his business partner Maverick Carter founded SpringHill Entertainment together and have already produced several projects, from "The Wall" to "Survivor's Remorse" to "Cleveland Hustles."

Now that James is in LA, though, the production company has taken off, with James producing and co-producing several documentaries, docu-series, and scripted series, from dramas to comedies. He's even had some time to be involved in the filmmaking.

Here are all of the projects James is and has been working on, according to IMDB and SpringHill Entertainment's website.

1. "Space Jam 2"

Release date: Unclear; filming begins in 2019

What to know: The long-awaited sequel to Michael Jordan's 1996 hit is finally here, with LeBron starring in the movie. James' business partner Maverick Carter has said it won't be a sequel to the first film.

2. "The Shop"

Release date: On air now

What to know: James and company brought "The Shop" over from Uninterrupted to HBO this year, with two episodes airing this fall. Set in a barbershop, James, other athletes, musicians, and celebrities discuss sports, politics, race, and more.

3. "Shut Up and Dribble"

Release date: Out now

What to know: The three-part documentary, directed by Gotham Chopra ("Tom vs. Time") came out on Showtime in October and has received praise for its examination of the effect of the NBA on race relations and politics.

The PlayStation 4 will be cheaper than ever before this holiday — but that's not the only hot gaming deal Sony has

PlayStation 4

  • Many stores have already launched their video game sales for Black Friday and the holiday season.
  • Sony's main offerings are a discounted PlayStation 4 bundle with "Marvel's Spider-Man" and a big price drop on PlayStation's virtual-reality headset.
  • Plenty of PlayStation 4 games will be on sale during the weekend too, including PS4 exclusive titles like "God of War" and "Horizon: Zero Dawn."

With Black Friday just a few days away, early video game sales have begun.

Sony recently announced that it had sold 86 million PlayStation 4 units worldwide, making it the most popular video game console on the market. That number is certain to grow during this year's holiday sales, with a special bundle dropping the PlayStation 4 to its lowest price ever and steep discounts on the console's virtual-reality headset, the PlayStation VR.

Here are the lowest prices for PlayStation consoles and games this holiday season:

SEE ALSO: Here are all the best deals for Xbox One consoles and games this holiday season

DON'T MISS: There's only one really good deal on the Nintendo Switch this holiday shopping season

This $200 PlayStation 4 bundle is the cheapest the system has ever been.

The bundle will be one of the most sought-after video game gifts this holiday season. Sony is offering the redesigned slim model with the year's most popular PS4 exclusive. "Marvel's Spider-Man," an open-world adventure for gamers of all ages, broke sales records with a massive launch in September.

PlayStation VR bundles are $100 cheaper for the holidays.

The PlayStation VR, one of the best-received virtual-reality headsets, has reached its lowest price point so far.

There are a few PSVR bundles with different games, but I'd recommend the "Astro Bot Rescue Mission" and "Moss" bundle, pictured above. Both games came out this year and offer a wonderfully immersive VR experience.

If you're willing to pay a bit more, the "Creed: Rise to Glory" and "Superhot VR" bundle comes with two PlayStation Move controllers, a slightly better value for the price. "Superhot VR" is also one of the most exciting VR games I've played, making full use of the motion controls and VR headset.

Keep in mind that the headset must be hooked up to a PlayStation 4 to work, and games with motion controls may require the PlayStation Move controllers, which are not included in every bundle.

Here are the available PlayStation VR bundles:

  • PlayStation VR "Astro Bot Rescue Mission" and "Moss" bundle — $199 at GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Newegg.
  • PlayStation VR "Creed: Rise to Glory" and "Superhot VR" bundle (comes with two PlayStation Move controllers) — $249 at GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Newegg
  • PlayStation VR "Doom VFR" bundle — $199 at GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Newegg
  • PlayStation VR "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR" bundle (comes with two PlayStation Move controllers) — $250 at GameStop and Target (available only in stores)

You'll find deals on PlayStation games new and old in stores and online.

Hundreds of PlayStation games will be on sale for Black Friday and throughout the holiday season, including new games released in the past few months.

Here are more than 20 discounted games to look out for, at the cheapest prices we could find — keep in mind that most major stores will have sales on the same games, even if the prices are a few dollars apart:

  • "Assassin's Creed Odyssey"— $27 at GameStop
  • "Call of Duty Black Ops 4"— $38 at GameStop
  • "Dragon Ball FighterZ"— $17 at Walmart
  • "Fallout 76"— $40 at GameStop
  • "Far Cry 5"— $20 at Best Buy
  • "Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition"— $20 at Best Buy and GameStop
  • "God of War"— $17 at GameStop
  • "Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition"— $20 at Best Buy and GameStop
  • "Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition"— $10 at GameStop
  • "Injustice 2: Legendary Edition"— $20 at GameStop and Best Buy
  • "Marvel's Spider-Man"— $39.59 in the PlayStation Store
  • "Madden 19"— $27 at GameStop
  • "Middle Earth: Shadow of War"— $10 at GameStop
  • "Monster Hunter: World"— $17 at Walmart
  • "NBA 2K19"— $30 at Best Buy, Walmart, and Target
  • "No Man's Sky —$25 at Best Buy
  • "Onrush"— $20 at Best Buy
  • "Overwatch: Origins Edition"— $15 at Target
  • "Persona 5"— $20 in the PlayStation Store

5 hacks for cracking an egg perfectly every time

$
0
0

cracking an egg bakingCracking an egg is a pretty simple concept, but it's not always trouble-free. However, there are some ways you can crack an egg while reducing the chances of getting eggshells in your food.

Here are five hacks for perfectly cracking an egg.

Crack the egg against a flat surface to give you more control over the break.

When you whack an egg against a ridged surface (like the edge of a bowl, for instance), you'll break both the shell and the protective membrane separating the shell and the yolk, which could make it easy for shards of the shell to make it into your bowl.

But, by holding your egg in one hand and tapping it on a flat surface (like a cutting board or a countertop) until you see one vertical crack and an indentation in the shell, you'll be able to use your fingers to gently separate the two halves of the shell and pour the whites and yolks into a bowl.

If you do want to crack your egg on the rim of a bowl, make sure you're making contact with the egg's center.

Cracking an egg on the rim of your bowl isn't ideal for achieving a mess-free egg split, but sometimes it's your most convenient surface option.

In this situation, Food Republic said it's helpful to crack your egg as close to its center as possible. That way, you can use your fingers to create a neat split and separate the two halves with as little shell debris as possible.

For a perfect combination of speed and precision, try the one-handed crack.

A technique popular among professional chefs, the one-handed crack is an excellent technique when you need to crack several eggs quickly.

According to Serious Eats, this technique involves using your dominant hand's pinky and ring fingers to grip the bottom of the egg.  Then, use your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers to pry off the top. Serious Eats also has helpful visuals of this method.

The history of Black Friday — the shopping holiday that once beckoned hordes of frenzied shoppers and is now dying

  • Though Black Friday became one of the biggest and busiest shopping days of the year, it hasn't always been that way.
  • Before it exploded into the national, post-Thanksgiving event we know today, it was reportedly a quirky tradition unique to Philadelphians.
  • And now, the holiday is experiencing more changes.
  • Here's the evolution of Black Friday, from its 19th-century namesake to the shopping phenomenon it is today.

Black Friday has long been associated with turkey dinner and bargain-priced holiday shopping.

It's turned into one of the most profitable days for retailers, who raked in $8 billion from Black Friday and Thanksgiving sales in 2017.

But it wasn't always that way.

Here's how Black Friday has evolved over the last two centuries.

What to do if you think your partner is losing interest in your relationship

$

couple money conversation

  • Sometimes you can feel like your partner is no longer attracted to you.
  • This can be concerning but sometimes there are other causes.
  • It's important to communicate with your partner and focus on yourself.

Feeling like the person you're in a relationship with is no longer attracted to you can be difficult to manage and tough to process.

But, there may be a deeper reason you're feeling this way, and sometimes it has nothing to do with your relationship or your partner's attraction to you.

Here are nine things you can consider trying if you're starting to feel like your partner is no longer attracted to you.

Focus on your own self-worth.

If you're doubting whether or not your partner is attracted to you, it might be best to focus on how you feel about yourself instead.

According to Daniella Bloom, LMFT LA's premiere divorcée success coach and dating expert, if you think that your partner has lost interest in you, thinking better of yourself may help that.

"The basic principle we understand from Law of Attraction is 'like attracts like,'" Bloom told INSIDER. "Our partners mirror what we feel about ourselves on a regular basis. When you start to show up differently for yourself, either your partner will stop and take favorable notice, or, someone else who is far better suited for you, will instead."

Remind your partner why they were attracted to you from the start.

When you encounter this issue, Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola, relationship experts and authors of "How to Keep your Marriage from Sucking," suggest using actions to remind your partner why you started dating in the first.

"To reignite attraction, lean in to attractive actions to remind you and your partner of why they were attracted to you in the first place," Behrendt and Ruotola told INSIDER.

"... Create an environment to be alone together to reconnect doing something you used to do when you were a new couple, even if it's just watching a movie, going to bed early, and sleeping until you're actually rested."

Make an effort to understand your partner's needs.

When we feel victimized in relationships, it can be tough to keep a positive attitude and to acknowledge your own actions and behaviors.

Because of that, Behrendt and Ruotola suggest that you keep an open mind as you ask yourself what you may have missed when it comes to your partner and the disconnection you feel.

"Attraction wanes with disconnection, resentment, and even just time, but the flames can be fanned or extinguished depending on your actions and attitude," they told INSIDER.

Amid efforts to rebuild areas affected by the raging wildfires, stars have made sizable donations, delivered supplies, and encouraged fans to help by any possible means.

Sandra Bullock donated $100,000 to the Humane Society of Ventura County.

The foundation is currently working to rescue and care for evacuated animals as long as necessary.

"Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other nonprofit organizations both during this incident and in the past,"HSVC shared on their site. "However, this time she wanted to contribute to those on the front line rescuing animals in peril and hope others will choose to do the same."

Khloe Kardashian went to CVS and picked up supplies for firefighters.

"I know the brave men and women that are working so hard, tirelessly for all of us will greatly appreciate it," she said. "So please just do whatever you can, even if it's one bottle of water, one container of eye drops, one granola bar, anything. I know they would appreciate it."

Kris Jenner also posted a list of useful products needed by first responders on Instagram

Lady Gaga delivered boxes of pizza, hot coffee, and gift cards to a shelter.

Gaga was one of many celebrities who had to evacuate their homes.

To celebrate World Kindness Day on Tuesday, the singer shared a series of videos and photos of the good deeds she was doing, from visiting a shelter to delivering food and beverages. She also thanked Red Cross "for all you are doing to provide shelter, love, and mental support to the people of California."

Prior to that, Gaga also stopped by a makeshift Red Cross shelter at Pacific Palisades High School, according to TMZ.

"I extend my love to each and every one of you," she said during a speech. "I know we do not know each other, but I love you. This is an emergency, but you are not alone."

Each time J.K. Rowling tells another story from the Wizarding World, millions of people listen. And since the original "Harry Potter" adventures ended, she has chosen to recount her newest series exclusively through film.

The newest installment in the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald," is in theaters now. But how does it stack up against the nine films that preceded it?

Critic score: 40%

User score: 69%

Critics consensus: "'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' has glimmers of the magic familiar to 'Harry Potter' fans, but the story's spell isn't as strong as earlier installments."

9. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (2016)

Critic score: 74%

User score: 79%

Critics consensus: "'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' draws on Harry Potter's rich mythology to deliver a spinoff that dazzles with franchise-building magic all its own."

8. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (2007)

Critic score: 77%

User score: 81%

Critics consensus: "It's not easy to take the longest 'Harry Potter' book and streamline it into the shortest 'Harry Potter' movie, but director David Yates does a bang-up job of it, creating an 'Order of the Phoenix' that's entertaining and action-packed."

The International Space Station has now been orbiting Earth for 20 years — here's what 3 astronauts say about living on the lab in space

NASA International Space Station

The International Space Station (ISS) celebrated its 20th anniversary on Tuesday, marking two decades since the station's first component launched into orbit on a Russian rocket.

Since November 2000, when NASA astronaut Bill Shepherd and Russian cosmonauts Sergei Krikalev and Yuri Gidzenko became the first humans to stay long-term on the ISS, more than 230 people have visited the $150 billion laboratory in space.

Today, the ISS is voluminous enough to fill a six-bedroom house. It's the largest space vehicle ever built, and scientists have conducted more than 2,500 investigations there.

To celebrate the ISS' birthday, we've rounded up what some astronauts have said about their time onboard.

The space station, which hovers about 250 miles above the Earth, is the size of a football field. It was envisioned as both a laboratory and a potential pit stop for missions to the moon or Mars.

A spacecraft can reach the ISS as little as six hours after launching from Earth, and six spaceships can be connected to the station at the same time.

Astronaut Peggy Whitson was the first woman to command the ISS. Whitson, who retired in June, holds the US record for most time in space: 665 days. Whitson told Business Insider that she won't miss the food, which is on a 16-day rotation cycle. "The motto 'it's all about the sauce' really is true, because it all kinda starts tasting the same after a while," she said.

The top 21 toys every kid will want this holiday

lol surprise toy 2018

  • INSIDER rounds up this year's most sought-after toys.
  • Hatchibabies, L.O.L. Surprise, a Hogwarts Lego castle, and "Incredibles 2" action figures are among the toys you'll want to look for.

The biggest shopping days of the year are nearly upon us and if you're unsure what to go out and buy this holiday season for the kids in your life, we have you covered.

This year is all about L.O.L. Surprise, dinosaurs, "The Incredibles 2," and some good old '90s nostalgia.
After attending several toy fairs, visiting a few major retailers, and attending toy review site TTPM's annual holiday showcase this year, INSIDER rounded up the toys every kid will want on their holiday list.

Keep reading to see what toys are going to sell out fast.

One of the biggest toys this year is L.O.L. Surprise.

Don't wait until the last minute to nab one of these. No matter what Target I head to, this toy is always sold out. And don't settle for just any version of this toy.

There are a few different categories of the toy you can purchase. There are "Pets" and "Lil Sisters." Don't make the mistake of picking up the pets. I've never had a problem finding those in any store. It's the dolls everyone is seeking out. Aim for a "Glam Glitter" or "Under Wraps" kit seen above.

Fair warning: These toys are all about the unboxing experience. Parents may not be big fans of all the wrappers and clean up involved just for their kids to get to the doll and its accessories inside. If your child is really into the unwrapping experience and you're OK with the mess, go for the L.O.L. Bigger Surprise, which contains 60 surprises.

Price: $9.95 to $80
Ages: 5+
Where to find them: Target, Walmart, Walgreens, Kohls, and Amazon

Another huge toy is Hatchimals' Hatchibabies.

Similar to the original popular Hatchimals, Spin Master's big fall release is a baby version of the interactive animals which hatch from eggs. Part of the play is hatching the egg, which you need to tap and hug for the little guy (or girl) inside to come out.

The babies have bigger eyes than their predecessors and respond to being fed, tickled, burped, and more. The hatchlings come with accessories including a hairbrush, rattle, and bottle to help care for them.

Price: $59.99
Ages: 5 and up
Where to find them: Target, Walmart, and Amazon

Fingerlings Hugs are a major upgrade to last year's popular must-have.

If the original Fingerlings toys were a bit too small for you, WowWee is back this year with a larger version of its hit. Just like the tiny Fingerlings baby monkeys, the stuffed versions can be rocked to sleep, blow kisses, and respond to being held upside down.

A new addition is that kids can record their words and have them repeated back to them. You can read more about Fingerlings hugs here. The plush toys aren't limited to monkeys either. There are also sloth and unicorn stuffed animals to choose from.

Price: $29.99
Ages: 2+
Where to find them: Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Kohls

RANKED: The 27 most dominant soccer players in the world right now

Who are the world's best footballers

  • Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar Jr all make the top 10 in this list of the most dominant soccer players in world football.
  • The ranking considers recent form from six of the sport's biggest leagues, including the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and MLS.
  • Keep scrolling to find out who the current number one player in world soccer is.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar Jr have all begun the 2018-2019 world soccer season in fine fashion, but who has performed the best?

Business Insider studied data from soccer statistics website Whoscored.com to deliver a power ranking of the most dominant 27 players in the sport right now.

Whoscored.com configures its player rankings based on position-specific metrics that include blocks, interceptions, and tackles for defenders, total passes and pass completion for midfielders, and goal creation, shots on goal, and goals for attackers. With this in mind, each athlete in this ranking has been given a score for form, with the 27th best player averaging 7.46/10.

The ranking only considers recent performances, and therefore credits a consistent ability to continually dominate regardless of which league the player competes in.

=T26: DC United striker Wayne Rooney — 7.46.

Who is he: He's Wayne Rooney, how could you forget his name?

Why is he here: Rooney swapped life at Everton FC for a career swansong in the MLS and single-handedly rescued DC United from the bottom of the league into the playoffs. His impact cannot be underestimated.

=T26: Atlanta United striker Josef Martínez — 7.46.

Who is he: Josef Martínez is a Venezuelan goal machine.

Why is he here: Martínez is the only player in the entire MLS to have outscored Zlatan Ibrahimović this season, and he did so with ease, breaking the MLS scoring record. Martínez has scored 33 goals in total, with five assists to boot, and will likely be Atlanta United's key man in the team's quest for the MLS Cup.

=T24: FC Barcelona and Uruguay striker Luis Suárez — 7.47.

Who is he: A tenacious striker, Luis Suárez is the type of player who will not rest until he's scored a goal by nutmegging the keeper.

Why is he here: Suárez is the best FC Barcelona forward not named Lionel Messi. He already has nine goals and four assists from 11 starts (that's a goal scored or created every 77 minutes), and his best game of the season was his remarkable three-goal display in the 5-1 battering of Real Madrid in October's El Clásico.

Some people are skipping Black Friday shopping to spend time outdoors — here are 8 underrated national parks to visit over the holiday

Lassen Volcanic Center (Lassen Peak)

  • The #OptOutside campaign beckons people to explore the outdoors the day after Thanksgiving instead of indulging in Black Friday sales.
  • Some of America's most spectacular national parks are also the least visited, providing serene escapes from the shopping mall crowds.
  • Late fall is the perfect time to visit parks in the south due to the sweltering temperatures they can reach in the summertime.

Some people find pleasure in rising from their turkey-induced slumbers in the wee hours of the morning only to battle the notoriously frenzied hordes of sleep-deprived shoppers over discounted toys and television sets. If you're not one of those people, there's a place for you.

Many places, in fact, provide refuge from the madness of Black Friday. America's national parks offer innumerable opportunities to work off that second helping of Thanksgiving stuffing or just a beautiful backdrop to ride out the post-holiday bloat.

REI started encouraging people to #OptOutside four years ago, when the outdoor retail brand closed its doors the day after Thanksgiving to encourage both employees and shoppers to enjoy the outdoors instead. The National Parks Service hopped aboard the movement in 2017, offering free entry on the shoppers' holiday. And while the parks will maintain their fees this year, they're sure to be less expensive than a 2 a.m. shopping trip.

Here are eight underrated national parks to visit on Black Friday.

Isle Royale National Park, Michigan

Michigan's Isle Royale certainly isn't among America's most-visited national parks— by no means does it have crowds comparable to Yellowstone or Yosemite — but its superintendent, Phyllis Green, told CBS News that it does, however, have "one of the highest repeat-visitor rates."

A park highlight, Mount Ojibway looks out over the rugged island and surrounding Lake Superior. The lakeside escape offers quiet camping, kayaking, and multi-day hikes.

Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado

More than 4 million people flock to the Rocky Mountains each year, according to the Denver Post, and Colorado's famed park will undoubtedly attract even bigger crowds around the holidays. The nearby Great Sand Dunes are a less congested alternative with views that are severely underrated.

Here, visitors sandboard and sled down what the National Park Service calls the tallest dunes on the continent against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. The mother of all sandbanks, Star Dune, is 750 feet and takes the average person an hour to ascend.

Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky

Kentucky is keeping a big secret: it's home to the longest known cave system on the continent. So far, more than 400 miles of this underground network have been explored, according to National Geographic, and even more of it remains uncharted. Mummified bodies, ancient artifacts, and thousands-of-years-old petroglyphs have been found in Mammoth Cave, ABC News reported. Visitors can also  see the limestone caverns by lamplight on one of the park's lantern tours.
