Real estate listing website Redfin revealed today that rapper, producer, and Beats Electronics tycoon Dr. Dre has listed his Los Angeles home for $35 million.

Dre bought the six-bedroom home back in December 2011 for $15.4 million through a trust, according to property records.

The home spans 9,696 square feet, and looks out onto downtown Los Angeles from the Hollywood Hills.

The music mogul bought Tom Brady and Giselle Bündchen’s Brentwood, Calif., home for $40 million last month. His new house will have a moat, terraces, and an infinity pool.

Apple announced in May that it would buy Dr. Dre's company, Beats Electronics, for a whopping $3 billion. Now the famous rapper and entrepreneur is worth a reported $800 million after the deal — looks like he’s celebrating with a real estate upgrade.

Dr. Dre is selling this six-bedroom mansion for $35 million.

The gated home is in Hollywood Hills West, and has 9,696 square feet with a wine cellar, library, and guest house.

The home also has a covetable flat backyard.

Urban Outfitters Herald Square 6Urban Outfitters just opened its biggest store yet, and it's like nothing we've ever seen before from the teen retailer.

Shoppers could easily get lost for hours in the brand new, 57,000-square-foot "lifestyle center," which is located in Manhattan's Herald Square.

The store features a coffee shop, a hair salon, hundreds of vinyl records, and a Sephora-sized makeup shop, as well as fun gadgets like a "lensometer" that can scan a customer's glasses and read their prescription.

We took a trip to the new location to see what it's all about.

The main entrance faces Macy's on the corner of Broadway and 34th Street.

At first glance, the store looks like any other Urban Outfitters, just a lot bigger.

But unlike most Urban Outfitters locations, here you can grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat without ever having to leave the store.

doubleline capital june 10 2014 gundlach

DoubleLine Capital founder Jeff Gundlach is out with his latest presentation on the state of markets, called "Penny For Your Thoughts."

The theme seems to be about currencies and their underlying values — at one point, according to BI's Mamta Badkar, who covered the presentation live, he gave a shout-out to Bitcoin.

Gundlach ominously observes that the dollar is approaching the historical terminus of global reserve dominance — Spanish escudos, for instance, lasted 110 years, and the U.S. dollar is now at 94. China's Yuan is waiting in the wings...

Other themes include the recent rush back into U.S. treasuries, and shifting demographics.

Apple's operating system for iPhones, iOS, is about to enter its eighth version this fall.

iOS has come a long way since Apple showed off the first version over seven years ago.

Change may seem incremental year to year, but if you start from the beginning, you can see just how much better the iOS has gotten since version one.

2007: When Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone, he didn't call the software iOS. Instead, it was OS X, the operating system for Macs that iOS is based on. The iOS name came later.

Here's the original home screen for the first version of iOS. These were the only apps you could use. There was no App Store for downloading new apps and games.

This is what the original iPod app looked like. Years later, Apple renamed the app to Music.

Here's How The US Has Been Getting Iraq Wrong For Over 30 Years

USAF_F 16A_F 15C_F 15E_Desert_Storm_edit2An Iraqi terrorist group so radical that it was actually expelled from Al Qaeda's global network is in the midst of a major offensive. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has taken over Iraq's second-largest city, and is now pushing into the Baghdad area.

In the past decade, the has U.S. lost thousands of soldiers in Iraq in an attempt to make sure that something like this couldn't happen.

But America's rocky relationship with Iraq — and its failure to achieve its objectives in the country — didn't start 11 years ago, with the beginning of the war that would eventually oust Saddam Hussein.

It didn't even start in 1990, following Saddam's invasion of Kuwait and Operation Desert Storm.

In fact, the two countries began their present-day entanglement over 30 years ago, thanks to Washington's push to rein in an intransigent Iran that was fresh off of its Islamic Revolution.

Policy planners thought the key to maintaining control over the resource-rich Middle East started with shaking Saddam's hand.

With jihadists running rampant and Iraq descending into chaos, things haven't exactly worked out as planned.

The year was 1980. America had just lost a key Middle Eastern ally because of the Iranian Revolution, with overthrew the country's pro-western monarchy.

U.S. officials and media began publicly considering Iraq as a new top ally in the Persian Gulf.

Babysitters For New York's Wealthy Demand Car Service, Sushi, And Cash

0

Nanny New York City

If a new report in The New York Post is to be believed, the latest accessory for Manhattan’s wealthy is a babysitter.

These days, New York City babysitters are “demanding” $20+ per hour wages, Nobu takeout, and VIP car services to take them home, according to the Post. Some even require car access and get free shoes from Barney’s from their employers for “being paid essentially to just sit,” as one sitter put it.

It’s true that NYC babysitters are the highest-paid in the nation, according to UrbanSitter. It's also true that some high-end babysitting services are even asking $30+ per hour for their staff.

Sitters Studio, an art-centric babysitting firm, charges $30 per hour with a $20 booking fee and a minimum of four hours, according to The Post. Another babysitting referral service called Hamptons Babysitters charges $33 per hour with a $25 booking fee and three-hour minimum.

The Post also mentioned Lucky Lil’ Darlings, a "family care solutions company" that charges $300 per year for membership, $23 per hour, and requires mandatory cab fare home after 9 PM. The website claims it’s worth it, given that “Every LLD sitter is hand-selected, college-educated, experienced and undergoes a rigorous interview and background check process.”

Not all New York babysitters are raking it in, of course.

When we browsed UrbanSitter— one of the largest babysitting booking websites in the country — we saw that many New York sitters were asking for $15 per hour, with some going as low as $11 per hour. This also fits with a recent UrbanSitter report that says the hourly rate of its NYC sitters has jumped from $13.50 to $15.34 in the last year — far below the $30+ per-hour rates claimed by The Post.

And while that’s still more expensive than babysitters in the rest of the U.S., as one NYC mother told The Post, “that’s the high price of living here.”

Owning a big apartment in New York City is great, but having a mansion in the Hamptons is a privilege only the 1% of the 1% can enjoy.

Last year, then-Forbes reporter Morgan Brennan broke down the who's who of one of the most exclusive streets in the Hamptons — Southampton's Meadow Lane.

Not only does it have access to a long stretch of private beach, but the median sale price of a home here was just under $18 million in 2012, according to PropertyShark, making it the most expensive street on the East End.

The five-mile road even has a helipad to whisk its famous residents off to Manhattan.

Meadow Lane is one of the most expensive addresses in the country, and no wonder — it runs along a coveted beachfront strip in one of the most exclusive towns in the Hamptons.

23 Photos Of The World Cup Host City That's In The Middle Of The Jungle

manaus world cup 2

A lot of people didn't think World Cup games should be held in Manaus.

The Amazonian city is 1,700 miles from Sao Paulo and surrounded by 2.1 million square miles of rain forest.

National team coaches have complained about the oppressive heat and humidity. Brazilians have complained about the exorbitant cost of building a soccer arena in the middle of the jungle — a city so remote that it took a 20-day boat voyage to deliver the steel to build the 42,000-seat stadium.

With just three days to go until the Italy-England game, the pitch at the Arena Amazonia is in horrible shape.

As these great photos from Reuters, Getty, and the AP show, Manaus is gorgeous (it sits on the banks of the Rio Negro), large (the 7th-biggest city in Brazil), and industrial (its free port is a hub of trade).

But given the construction costs, the travel headaches, and the playing conditions, it's also a head-scratching choice for a World Cup host city.

Manaus is 900 miles up the Amazon, and surrounded by rain forests.

It's an important shipping outpost for trading along the Amazon River.

It's also a hub for ecotourism. Here's a dock for tourist boat excursions along the Rio Negro.

soundcloud europe

SoundCloud has opened gorgeous new offices overlooking the Berlin Wall Memorial.

SoundCloud is a music company that provides a platform for users to upload and stream audio files. As of October 2013, the Berlin-based company had 250 million users, and it's been valued at $700 million.

Last month, Twitter was in talks to buy the company, though a deal was never reached.

SoundCloud's new Berlin headquarters are spacious and modern, with concrete floors that give it an urban, industrial feel.

Just like any other startup office, there are plenty of perks, too, including a library, yoga room, garden, and wood-burning fireplace.

SoundCloud's new offices take up 2,910 square feet of space in a campus called Factory. The building is at the heart of Berlin's growing tech scene and has a view of the Berlin Wall Memorial. Mozilla, Zendesk, and MyFitnessPal all have office space there.

Inside, there's lots of concrete and distressed wood, and you'll notice a SoundCloud logo just above the reception desk when you enter.

The space will accommodate approximately 200 employees in product, engineering, design, community, finance, legal, and HR.
