Sophie Turner is on fire.

First, her "Game of Thrones" character Sansa Stark turned from damsel to dissident in the show's recent events. She and half-brother Jon Snow are rallying the houses of the North to take back Winterfell.

Now, the 20-year-old actress takes on another iconic role, that of Jean Grey in "X-Men: Apocalypse." As Grey, she'll be learning to live with and hone her telepathic abilities.

Let's take a look back at Turner's meteoric rise to fame.

Sophie Turner started going to drama class at age three, which she says was "so [my mother] could have a cup of coffee for an hour."

18 commoners who married into royalty

kate middleton wedding

Turns out Cinderella doesn't need a ball to meet her prince; she could find him in a bar.

At least that's how Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, now the crown princess of Denmark, found her prince.

And then there's Kate Middleton. Her 2011 wedding to Prince William captivated millions of people around the globe. The two of them met in college.

We've rounded up 18 commoners who married into royal families (and an explainer for why Princess Diana isn't one of them):

Grace Kelly — Princess of Monaco

Grace Kelly began her acting career in 1950, but retired in 1956 to marry Rainier III, the prince of Monaco. They had met during a photo shoot at the Cannes Film Festival in 1955, one she almost skipped. The couple had three children.

She suffered a minor stroke while driving and was killed in 1982 when the car went over the edge of a 45-foot embankment.

Charlene Wittstock — Princess of Monaco

Charlene is a former South African Olympic swimmer. She met Prince Albert II (Grace Kelly's son) during a swimming meet in Monaco in 2000. The couple went public in 2006, at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, and married in July 2011. Wittstock gave birth to fraternal twins in 2014.

Kate Middleton — Duchess of Cambridge

Kate was studying art history at the University of St. Andrews when she met Prince William in 2001. After dating on-and-off for numerous years, the couple married April 29, 2011, and millions of people around the world tuned in to watch the ceremony. They have two children: Prince George, born July 2013, and Princess Charlotte, born May 2015.

8 photos that show how different women can look during each stage of pregnancy

Screen Shot 2016 05 27 at 1.16.51 PM

Earlier this year, a photo of two expectant mothers posing with their bellies pressed together went viral. They look vastly different at just four weeks apart in their terms and the Internet freaked out.

Both fitness trainer Chontel Duncan and her friend Natalie Smith were heavily criticized about their appearances and questioned about their babies' health. These comments were entirely unwarranted. They both gave birth to beautiful, healthy baby boys.

All women carry differently and baby bellies can look like polar opposites, even at similar stages of pregnancy—and that's totally fine.

We compared the baby bumps of women who were at the exact same week of their term to prove just how unique each pregnancy is.

This woman is 17 weeks pregnant.

Cryonics

Science has been tackling new ways to stop death, which includes diving into the world of cryonics.

Cryonics is an experimental effort to save lives by freezing a person's body who is so chronically ill that today's medicine could not help. Some scientists believe that cryopreservation could be successful in the future, while others are very doubtful, according to BBC.

Photographer Murray Ballard has spent years photographing cryonics institutions around the UK and the United States. "What I like about cryonics is that it gives us a vehicle to consider questions about the future," Ballard tells Business Insider. "You stand a much better chance of coming back to life if you’re cryopreserved than if you’re buried or cremated." Ballard compiled his photos into a book titled "The Prospect of Immortality." Below, see photos inside the cryonics institutions.

SEE ALSO: I visited a facility where dead people are frozen so they can be revived later

For his series, Ballard visited cryonics institutions in the UK, France, Norway, Arizona, Colorado, and Russia. He visited Alcor Life Extension Foundation, pictured below, in Scottsdale, Arizona the most.

Planning to participate in cryonics must take place before death. As of April 2016, the Alcor institute has 146 patients.

Source: alcor.org

The freezing and preserving process starts immediately after a patient's "legal death" is announced. A person can decide whether to freeze their entire body or just their brain. "Legal death" is when a person is beyond help and dies naturally and can no longer be revitalized by current technology.

There's finally a home robot like Rosie from 'The Jetsons,' but it looks awful

asus zenbo 1

When I was a kid, I begged my parents for a dog, promising to walk it and feed it every day.

My parents, being generally sensible people, figured that it was unlikely their elementary school-aged son would actually take full responsibility for a live canine. So, given that they're also major nerds, they bought me a robot dog for Channukah.

The techno-pup was pretty cool. Sleek, chrome-colored, and able to wander around a bit and bark, it filled the pet-shaped hole in my little heart — for about a week. But I quickly got bored of the lifeless, essentially functionless thing. And that's what will probably happen to you if you buy Asus's new $599 "Zenbo" home robot.

Zenbo looks, and appears to act, a lot like home robots we've seen in sci-fi movies (and "The Jetsons"). But does it live up to that promise?

Here's what you need to know about Zenbo.

SEE ALSO: These robots just won up to $30,000 for their paintings

Zenbo looks like the mischievous lovechild of a 2002 'sunflower' iMac and BB-8.

In an 11-minute ad released Monday, Asus touts a few key features of Zenbo. It can trundle up to you with reminders.

It can "tell stories" as well, acting out little audio-visual-motion skits — though it appears they have to be individually programmed as apps.

"NBA 2K16"

Originally released in September 2015, "NBA 2K16" is the latest in the well-regarded NBA 2K series.

Boasting all the cutting-edge visuals and tight gameplay the series is know for, "NBA 2K16" also has a wide array of online and offline modes, including MyGM and MyLeague, which let you micromanage every detail of your team.

There's also a career mode directed by filmmaker Spike Lee that tracks your player's progression from an amateur playing pick-up games at the local court to full-blown professional baller.

Platforms:PlayStation 4

"Gone Home"

For being such a quiet and contemplative game, "Gone Home" made some serious waves when it first came out in 2013.

"Gone Home" is a short, narrative-based game that puts you in control of a character exploring a home. You'll find documents, photos, and clues that slowly start to shed light on the character's family. In his review of the game for IGN, Marty Sliva says, "'Gone Home' is a remarkable achievement, and piecing together its poignant story will stick with me forever."

Any more details about this game will only spoil the experience for someone who has yet to play it, so download it as soon as its available and give it a shot.

Platforms: PlayStation 4

"Echochrome"

"Echochrome," despite having a relatively inscrutable name, is a simple and innovative puzzle game.

You'll attempt to travel through crazy winding pathways, changing the camera's angle to make traversal through the stage possible. Here's how it works:

Spinning the camera to different angles will change the way you traverse through a stage. Did you rotate the camera to obscure a hole in the ground that was previously a hazard? Well, now that you can't see it, you won't fall into it.

It takes a lot of its visual identity from something like an M.C. Escher illustration, with winding and intersecting pathways that appear to bend the laws of physics.

Once a great retail success story, J. Crew has been struggling in recent years.

J. Crew's sales slid 8% in the most recent quarter, with the company blaming a "challenging retail environment."

It's true — it's rough out there for most retailers— but a walk around the store shows why the company may be having a hard time getting consumers to pay a premium for its clothing.

13 things to accomplish with your money before 40

$

happy work

Everyone's allowed a few life mulligans, but by the time you've hit the big 3-0, you should have sorted out most of the reckless habits we tend to fall into as young 20-somethings.

This is especially true for money matters, considering you're close to entering your peak earning years. According to Payscale, college-educated men's earnings peak at an average age of 48 and women's earnings peak at 39.

To prepare for your peak earning years, here are 13 milestones to aim to achieve before hitting 40:

SEE ALSO: 15 money lies you should stop telling yourself by age 30

Contribute at least 10% of your income to a retirement account

You should already be contributing to your employer's 401(k) retirement account, and your 30s are a time to increase that contribution.

Many experts recommend putting aside at least 10% of your income. That may not be possible when you're first starting out your career, but it's a good goal to have by 40.

To work your way up to 10% of more, get in the habit of upping your contribution on a consistent basis — either every six months, at the end of each year, or whenever you get a pay raise.

Invest in something other than your retirement-savings plan

Many experts recommend using investment vehicles in addition to your employer's retirement plan to ensure that you'll have enough to fund your golden years.

If you're maxing out your 401(k) plan, consider contributing money to a Roth IRA or traditional IRA, research low-cost index funds — which Warren Buffett recommends— and look into the online-investment platforms known as "robo-advisers."

Of course, you'll want to make sure that your general finances are in order before you invest. But if you have a sound emergency fund, have prepared for future expenses, and are debt-free, then the quicker you put your money to work and jump start its growth, the better.

Establish savings goals and start setting aside money for big purchases

There are bound to be big expenses in your 30s — student debt, vacations, and kids, to name a few — that require diligent saving.

The best way to prepare for these expenses is to create savings goals, and then set aside money as early as possible. You'll want to adjust your budget so you can contribute a specific amount of money (depending on your upcoming purchases and time horizon) into a savings account each month. Treat this money like a fixed cost, meaning you must set it aside like you would do for rent or utilities.

Pro tip: Set up automatic transfers from your checking account to your savings accounts so you never even see this money and learn to live without it.

19 retirement mistakes you're probably making — aside from not saving enough

mistake cringe

It’s conventional wisdom by now that Americans aren’t saving enough for retirement. Recent studies have shown that many Baby Boomers might have to live on a mere $7,000 to $9,000 a year during their golden years, based on their current savings (not including Social Security).

If that’s not discouraging enough, financial planners say Americans are making plenty of other retirement missteps. Here are 19 other mistakes you could be making while planning for retirement.

SEE ALSO: 5 dumb decisions that put you at risk of going broke in retirement

1. Planning to stay in the family home

About three in five retirees decided to stay in their home for their golden years, according to a TransAmerica Center for Retirement Studies survey. But that may not be the smartest decision says James Bryan, principal of Cahill Financial Advisors. Rising upkeep costs, renovations and property taxes could make the house too expensive to manage.  The house also may not be suitable for aging in place. “People don't want to let go because they feel like they are betraying the memories,” he says.

Related: The Retirement Cost That 80% of Americans Aren’t Ready For

Solution: Add up the money you’ve spent on your home over the last five years and divide by 5 to get a snapshot of your annual costs. Then, increase that number by 2-5 percent to account for inflation. If it’s too costly for you to handle, consider downsizing or moving to a senior community.

2. Counting on working in retirement

About seven in 10 Millennials, more than half of Generation Xers and over a third of Baby Boomers expect to work during their golden years, according to a recent survey from Scottrade. But there’s a good chance that that won’t happen, according to the TransAmerica survey. Three of five recent retirees said they were forced to stop working sooner than planned because of job issues, health concerns or family responsibilities.

Solution: Plan your second or third career while you’re still on your first. Learn a new skill or a new language and don’t hesitate to take a few online courses – just for the fun of it.

Related: How to Retire Comfortably While You’re Still in Debt

3. Banking on an inheritance

Only about 11 percent of people in the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 received an inheritance. And the windfall for many wasn’t big enough to offset a lack of retirement savings. The median inheritance was $11,340, according to a studyfrom Ohio State University’s Center for Human Resource Research. “Your rich aunt might leave it all to charity,” says David Schneider of Schneider Wealth Strategies. “Your parents may not have as much as you think or could spend their money down on long-term care expenses.”

Solution: Talk with your parents about their estate planning and how it might affect your personal finances. Otherwise, save as if you won’t receive any inheritance. If you do get one, create a savings plan for it. The Ohio State study found that adults who get a windfall end up spending, losing or donating half of it.

Because humans don't know a lot about sloths' biology, ecology, and social habits, TSI is focused on education and increasing scientific knowledge about sloths.

The Sloth Institute is not open to the public, as it is in the animals' best interest to avoid humans as much as possible as they prepare to re-assimilate into the wild.

"All of the sloths we work with are in the process of becoming wild, or are already wild! Sloths are much happier when they can go about their day with no interference," Trull said.
