Colin Kaepernick's Super Bowl start on Sunday, will be just his tenth start in the NFL. This will make him the third quarterback to have nine or fewer career starts before being the go-to guy in the Super Bowl.
In the 1990 season, Jeff Hostetler led the Giants to a Super Bowl win despite just six career starts entering the game. And after the 1979 season, Vince Ferragamo started for the Rams with just seven career starts. The Rams lost to the Steelers.
Kaepernick will also be sixth-youngest quarterback to start a Super Bowl. On the next few pages will take a look at the the other young QBs and how they performed in the Big Game.
