Andy Ellison is an MRI technician at Boston University School of Medicine. In addition to scanning brains, he also creates stunning MRI scans of fruits and vegetables.
The images show the cross-section of items like an onion (shown right), bell pepper, or sunflower.
Ellison initially scanned an orange as a way to test his machine's settings before doing any real work. Amazed by the resulting images, he began looking for more produce and plants to scan.
We previously posted still images of Ellison's work, but he's also made some really cool animated GIFs by stitching those images together.
Be sure to check out all of Ellison's X-ray pictures on his blog Inside Insides.
