From October 5-8, fans will flock to the Javits Center for the annual event which celebrates movies, television, pop culture, and, of course, comics.

From scary clowns to fun mashups, keep reading to see what outfits dominated the Con this year.

We'll continue to add to this story throughout the weekend.

See any awesome cosplay? Send it my way: kacuna@thisisinsider.com.

There were plenty of "Justice League" characters with the new movie coming in November.

It wouldn't be Comic Con without a few Batmen.

Who doesn't love a classic Joker and Harley Quinn?

From Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber to David Beckham's son Brooklyn, some of the world's most famous people produce offspring who are pretty successful themselves.

The latest contender? Jude Law's 21-year-old lookalike son Rafferty.

With 33,000 Instagram followers, model and musician Raff (as he is often called) is a well-known face on runways, a producer of his own music, and one of the founders of the creative collective Something to Hate On, which he plans to turn into an independent record label.

It doesn't hurt that he's the spitting image of his famous father, either.

Scroll on for a look at the curious life of Rafferty Law.

Recognise this man? No, it's not a young Jude Law — it's his eldest son, Rafferty, often called Raff or Raffi.

Meet the Rising Stars on Wall Street shaking up investing, trading and dealmaking

Introducing the Rising Stars on Wall Street age 35 and under.

We scoured our contacts for ideas about whom we should include, receiving recommendations from bosses, colleagues, recruiters, and others working in the finance industry. The editors made final decisions.

We've included people with a variety of roles and experiences, from companies including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, New York Stock Exchange, BlackRock, and Bridgewater.

We came across many talented people, and this list is by no means comprehensive. To be eligible, we asked that nominees be based in or around New York City, be 35 or under, and be distinguished in some way from the pack.

Following are Business Insider's list of the top young Wall Streeters.

Eric Evans, 26, Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers

Evans, 26, is head of research and an investment analyst at Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers, a hedge-fund firm in New York that manages more than $1.8 billion.

Evans was appointed head of research at age 25, in April 2016. His responsibilities include leading process enhancement and the cost-management effort at the firm. That includes figuring out how to make the investment teams work more efficiently and developing tools that help the firm monitor skills and behavioral biases.

Evans also manages relationships with more than 100 counterparties that work with Weiss.

As an investment analyst, Evans focuses on investing in energy stocks and derivatives, one of several sectors Weiss invests in. Evans got his start at the firm as a summer intern ahead of his senior year of college at the University of Florida. He worked at Citi as an analyst in leveraged finance before moving back to Weiss.

A Miami native, Evans holds a bachelor's and master's in finance from the University of Florida, which he completed in four years.

Fahmi Quadir, 27, Safkhet Capital

Quadir, 27, is launching a short-selling-focused hedge fund, Safkhet Capital. The fund, which is targeting a $200 million soft close for next year, will focus on betting against fraudulent companies.

Quadir previously worked at Deallus Consulting, where she did investigative work for pharmaceutical clients. One of the companies she came across was Valeant Pharmaceuticals, which became valuable when she moved to hedge fund Krensavage Asset Management as an analyst. There, she initiated a short position on Valeant in June 2015 and continued to press as her conviction increased, leading to major gains for the fund as the stock plummeted.

Quadir holds a bachelor's degree in math and biology from Harvey Mudd College.

Jesse Reinherz, 27, Millennium Management

Reinherz, 27, is a stock-focused portfolio manager at Millennium Management, a $35 billion New York hedge-fund firm. He focuses on consumer and tech investing.

Reinherz joined Millennium earlier this year and is one of the youngest portfolio managers in the firm's history. He previously was a senior investment analyst at Moore Capital and worked on the sell side at Stifel, where he covered the beverage sector.

He holds a bachelor's in economics and math from Boston University.

Pixel 1 vs Pixel 2

When Apple introduces a new phone every year, most iPhone users are tempted to upgrade (and many of them do).

So now that Google is back in the smartphone game with its line of Pixel phones — the new Pixel 2 was introduced on Wednesday— just how big of an upgrade is the Pixel 2 compared to the original Pixel smartphones?

The new Pixel 2 comes in new colors, has a slightly different design, some new camera features, and a slightly faster processor. But it's actually not all that different from the original Pixel, which is a year old.

Here are all the similarities and differences between the Pixel and the Pixel 2:

SEE ALSO: Everything Google announced at its big hardware event

The display didn't change much with the Pixel 2, but the good news is that all Google phones have beautiful OLED displays.

Pixel/Pixel XL:

- 16:9/18:9 aspect ratio

- Gorilla Glass 5, the newest version of Corning's glass display

- An "always on" display, which means the screen always displays the time, date, and song title playing (if any) without eating up the battery

The camera on the Pixel 2 is almost identical to the camera on the first generation phone — except for one key feature.

Pixel/Pixel XL:

- 12.3-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera

- f/2.0 aperture

The cinematographer behind 'Blade Runner 2049' gives his 3 favorite movies he's shot

$

Blade Runner 2049 Warner Bros. 3

The name Roger Deakins might not ring a bell, but the movies he's shot are certainly household names.

As a 13-time Oscar nominee for his cinematography, he is behind the visuals of such classics as "The Shawshank Redemption,""Fargo,""A Beautiful Mind," and "Skyfall," to name just a few.

His latest project, "Blade Runner 2049" (in theaters), continues his top-flight work as he uses the world created by director Ridley Scott in the original "Blade Runner" to deliver a future that's dark and drab, but also breathtaking. And it might just finally give him that elusive Oscar he's been seeking.

While talking to Business Insider at the Toronto International Film Festival two years ago, Deakins revealed the three titles that stick out for him the most.

SEE ALSO: Method Man says he's never heard the Wu-Tang album Martin Shkreli bought for $2 million

1. "Kundun" (1997)

Deakins teamed with Martin Scorsese for this biopic on Tibet's fourteenth Dalai Lama that was a jolt for Scorsese fans who know him for his look at the underworld. With a paltry lifetime box office of less than $6 million in the US, the film has been utterly forgotten. But for Deakins, the experience of shooting the film for Scorsese, which has been the only time the two legends have teamed up, was a memorable one.

"I love the film," Deakins told Business Insider. "There's something very special about it, as it's not strictly literal. There are shots that are so evocative and hit you."

2. "The Man Who Wasn't There" (2001)

Deakins has shot almost all of the films made by Joel and Ethan Coen, but one that stands out for him is the black-and-white noir "The Man Who Wasn't There," starring Billy Bob Thornton as a chain-smoking barber who gets caught up in a murder.

"I think of all the films I've worked on, that film, to me, everything fits like a little complex jigsaw puzzle," he said. "The way the [Coens] did it, and how it's structured with a variety of mood. It was the hardest film to do that, and they really succeeded."

3. "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" (2007)

A film that is quickly becoming a modern-day classic thanks to Deakins' poetic shots giving a look we've never seen before from a western. Brad Pitt plays the aging outlaw Jesse James in the final years of his life, leading up to him being killed by a member of his gang, Robert Ford (Casey Affleck).

"I love that movie so much because it really captured the lyricism of the book," Deakins said, referring to the Ron Hansen novel the movie is based on. "It has similarities to 'Kundun' in not being literal. I think films these days have become too literal and too dialogue, plot-driven. 'Jesse James' has shots in it that have nothing to do with the plot, but you can get away with it, and that's what I love about film. It's not always about narrative. There's just things you couldn't express any other way but through film."

Tech billionaire Vinod Khosla has finally opened the gates to this California beach following a years-long court battle — and locals are thrilled

martins beach

Nine years after he bought an 89-acre parcel near Martins Beach in San Mateo County, California, Silicon Valley venture capitalist Vinod Khosla appears to have given up on his battle to block public access to the shore.

Khosla was found to be in violation of the California Coastal Act when, in 2009, he began locking a gate to a road that leads down to a parking lot on the beach. Khosla reportedly paid $37.5 million for a beach-adjacent property in 2008, and the path that provides access to Martins Beach passes through land he owns. Khosla, who runs his own firm, Khosla Ventures, and is a cofounder of Sun Microsystems, has an estimated net worth of $2.1 billion.

By ruling that Khosla must open Martins Beach to the public in August, California's First District Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld a 2014 ruling by the San Mateo County Superior Court. The Surfrider Foundation had originally filed suit against Khosla in March 2013.

According to The Mercury News, Khosla's attorneys told the California Coastal Commission that the gate would be open for limited hours, or "certain days from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.," in the words of commission spokesperson Noaki Schwartz. The commission had threatened to fine Khosla more than $11,000 a day if he did not comply.

Access to the beachfront parking lot has been blocked sporadically for years, but visitors have still been able to get onto the beach by walking around the locked gate. Now that you can drive down there — albeit during limited hours — beachgoers will get quite a treat. Here's what it looks like:

SEE ALSO: Tech billionaire must open gates to California beach next to property he bought for $37 million, courts say

Beach access is a hot topic in a culture as tied to the ocean as California, and Martins Beach is a particularly beloved spot.

The beach has long been a well-known fishing spot and family picnic destination.

It's also popular within the surfing community. The surf team from a local high school once held their practices here, and Jeff Clark, the surfing pioneer known for discovering the giant waves now known as Mavericks, used to come here as a child.

The US lags behind other countries when it comes to putting policies in place that will encourage electric vehicle adoption.

Some states, like California, are doing their part to set up an infrastructure to support battery-powered vehicles and get gas-powered cars off the road. But the US has yet to pass comprehensive policies aimed at lowering transportation-related fuel emissions.

Norway is the most progressive country when it comes to electrification. Electric and hybrid cars accounted for 28% of Norway's market share in 2016, according to a 2017 report from the International Energy Agency (IEA)

The Netherlands said it will only sell electrified vehicles starting in 2025.

The Netherlands have also pushed electric vehicle adoption. Electric and hybrid cars accounted for 6% of the Netherlands market share in 2016, according to the IEA report.

India has ambitious goals for electrification, saying it will only sell electric and hybrid vehicles starting in 2030.

India has yet to build out an infrastructure to support battery-powered vehicles, which is why they only account for a tiny (less than 1%) market share.

Russian S-400

Saudi Arabia agreed to purchase Russia's advanced S-400 Triumf missile-defense system on Thursday during King Salman's visit to Moscow.

The agreement marked the second time in the last month that a US ally has agreed to purchase the S-400 system from Moscow.

In September, Turkey finalized and made a deposit on a $2.5 billion deal for the S-400, deepening tensions between Washington and Ankara.

The S-400 is a very capable missile-defense system, somewhat comparable to the US's MIM-104 Patriot, according to CSIS.

Here's what it can do.

The S-400 Triumf, which NATO calls the SA-21 Growler, is a fourth-generation long-range missile-defense system that Russia began developing in 1993.

It's also the successor to the S-200 and S-300 air-defense systems, and became operational in 2007.

It's capable of taking out aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles in the terminal phase.

However, it does not have hit-to-kill ballistic-missile-defense technology, which means it can't physically collide with incoming warheads.

We scouted the homes of the top tech executives, and they all live in this San Francisco suburb for the 1%

The celebrities of Silicon Valley live private lives. We don't know much about them outside of the mega-companies they lead, though it's fun to speculate on the shoes they wear, the restaurants where they feast, and their comings and goings at Burning Man.

One thing's for certain: many of the rich and famous tech executives come home to the same zip code.

Public records reveal that Silicon Valley billionaires including Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen, HP CEO Meg Whitman, and Google chairman Eric Schmidt reside in the idyllic suburb of Atherton, California. In 2016, it was the third priciest zip code in the US, according to Forbes.

I recently spent the day in Atherton scouting the homes of top tech CEOS.

Atherton is a small, mostly residential town located about 45 minutes south of San Francisco and less than 20 minutes from the offices of Facebook, Google, and Tesla.

Mega-mansions line nearly every block. Many homes have fences or landscaping that prevent prying eyes from looking in. Each lot feels like its own gated community.

The median sale price in Atherton was $5.42 million in 2016, four times higher than that of San Francisco. That figure is highly conservative, according to local realtor Tom LeMieux.

Despite their walls, Atherton estates still have an imposing presence from the street.

The 9 best true crime series on Netflix

$

Steven avery defense team making a murderer netflix

If you type “true crime” into the Netflix search field, you’ll be presented with an astonishing collection of shows, many of them indistinguishable from one another.

The offerings include Occult Crimes, Corrupt Crimes, Stalkers Who Kill, Nurses Who Kill, Killer Couples, Killer Kids, Killer in the Family, Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer, and Killer Women with Piers Morgan. How do you even begin to sort them apart? Are they all the same? And are any of them actually good?

We’re here to help. Hidden among the genre’s vast selection of bad reenactments, gleeful-sounding narrators, and disgusting, exploitative dreck, you’ll find quite a few worthwhile productions.

Here are the best true-crime series currently available to watch on Netflix.

SEE ALSO: Conservatives and liberals love wildly different TV shows — here are the top series across the political spectrum

"The Detectives"

http://www.youtube.com/embed/VSU2waoAcBs
Width: 560px
Height: 315px

Not to be mistaken for the comedy series of the same name, this three-part BBC production explores the investigation of several sexual assaults in and around Manchester, including a case related to the Jimmy Savile scandal. The Detectives combines immediacy and intimacy with a helpful analytic distance, and it focuses on the emotional impact on the detectives (many of them female) as well as the sensitivity and trust required when trying to help rape victims find justice.

"Making a Murderer"

Youtube Embed:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/qxgbdYaR_KQ
Width: 560px
Height: 315px

Netflix’s first breakout true-crime hit, Making a Murderer subsequently came under scrutiny for its filmmakers’ possible bias in creating the series, as well as for an unnecessarily generous edit that occasionally turns “unhurried” into “seriously, this is too slow.” It’s still a worthwhile story, though, especially in a moment when true-crime series look more and more like long-form serialized stories, and less like Cops. Its successes and its mistakes will be benchmarks for the genre for a long time.

"Partner in Crime"

Youtube Embed:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/FsrUlMojqmQ
Width: 560px
Height: 315px

Maybe you don’t want something in the vein of the newer style of long-form true crime. Maybe you’re looking for one of the classic series. If these are the sorts of shows you want to watch, I’m going to assume you already know about Forensic Files, a granddaddy of the genre. But did you know about Partners in Crime, a series that explores “Hong Kong’s most bizarre murder cases”? One of the show’s main investigators is Dr. Carl Leung, a man described as “a forensic dentist, sexologist, and funeral parlor director.” And the first episode is about a head found inside a Hello Kitty doll.

On October 1, a gunman killed at least 59 people and injured 489 others on the Las Vegas Strip in the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history. The shooter, identified as Stephen Paddock, open fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino into a crowd of thousands below who were attending a country music festival.

A law enforcement official said on Wednesday that in the past year Paddock bought 33 guns, most of them rifles. Under federal law, gun stores are not required to report multiple rifle purchases to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (unless they are in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, and that's only for certain rifles).

After more than 1,400 mass shootings over the past five years, the Las Vegas massacre has again put a spotlight on American gun culture. As of December 2015, there are 64,747 licensed gun dealers across the country.

mapping project by the data visualization company 1point21 Interactive puts that figure into perspective by comparing it to something many Americans know and love: Starbucks.

When users enter a zip code, the tool — called "Firearms + Frappuccinos"— maps the locations of gun dealers (in pink), mass shootings (in yellow), and Starbucks (in green), and shows totals for each. The gun shop location data comes from the ATF, while the Starbucks locations were provided by open data company Socrata. Mass shootings are defined as events when four or more people are shot and/or killed. All of the data is from 2015.

Check out what six major cities, including Las Vegas, look like on the map below.

SEE ALSO: Where Americans are most likely to be killed by gun violence

Starbucks has approximately 10,843 locations across the US. That means that for every Starbucks, there are nearly six stores where Americans can legally purchase guns.

This is a uniquely American stat. Though the US has just 4.4% of the world’s population, it has half of the civilian-owned guns around the world.

In New York City, which has relatively strict gun laws, there are about two Starbucks for every gun dealer.

Starbucks in NYC: 1,646

Gun dealers in NYC: 711

Mass shootings in NYC in 2015: 11

New York State banned the sale of assault weapons, including semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and rifles, in 2013.

There are fewer gun dealers for every Starbucks in Chicago (about 1:3).

Starbucks in Chicago: 330

Gun dealers in Chicago: 101

Mass shootings in Chicago in 2015: 13

Though Chicago has extensive gun regulations, city officials have attributed gun crimes to illegal firearms bought outside Illinois, where regulations are not as strict, DNA Info reported in 2014.

Brands like Chick-fil-A and Hobby Lobby have alienated some customers as executives' religious views have influenced business decisions at certain points in time. However, other companies' religious beliefs are less obvious — even though they're right under customers' noses.

While some people see certain companies' spiritual leanings as a reason to become loyal customers, others find such messaging to be a turn off.

Here are nine companies that you may not realize are religious at the core.

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A has moved away from publicly discussing religion, after facing backlash when COO Dan Cathy said the company supported the "biblical definition of the family unit."

However, the chain does continue to close all stores on Sunday.

Truett Cathy, a devout Southern Baptist, established the tradition when he opened the location in 1946.

"He has often shared that his decision was as much practical as spiritual," the company website says of the tradition. "He believes that all franchised Chick-fil-A operators and their restaurant employees should have an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so."

Every Forever 21 shopping bag has the words "John 3:16" on the bottom. The verse, one of the best-known in the Bible, reads: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

"It shows us how much God loves us," Forever 21 founder Do Won Chang told CNN in 2012. "The love he gave us, by giving us his only son, Jesus, was so unbelievable to me. I hoped others would learn of God's love. So that's why I put it there."

The kings on the African continent carry a high level of influence.

In some African countries, traditional empires have been constitutionally recognized as state institutions.

Don't be totally shell-shocked to see some African monarchs living lavishly with lots of privileges, including state protection, a generous monthly salary and allowances, and a motorcade of luxury vehicles.

Yes, they are living large.

Business Insider Sub Saharan African has compiled top four wealthiest kings in Africa.

warning light

If there's one thing PIMCO is stressing to its clients right now, it's caution.

The $1.6 trillion asset manager doesn't see another economic recession happening just yet. But with low market volatility and many economies around the world growing steadily, there's an open door for complacency to creep in.

"While the current macro environment and outlook appear better than many of the younger market participants can remember, the last time a similar combination prevailed was in 2006 – and that didn’t end well," wrote PIMCO's Joachim Fels and Andrew Balls in their outlook for the next six to 12 months.

The following slides dig a little deeper, with pointers to some specific areas that investors should beware.

Thanks to PIMCO for giving us permission to feature this presentation.

Just an hour and 45 minutes from New York City, the North Fork is the perfect weekend escape. If driving isn't for you, the Long Island Railroad makes several stops across the North Fork, all the way out to Greenport.

Where to eat:

One of the most underrated parts of the North Fork is its up-and-coming food scene.

Caci, located in Southold, uses both locally sourced and Italian-imported ingredients to create its seasonal menus. Try any of the homemade pastas or hearty fall dishes.

Though it only opened a little over two years ago, American Beech, located on Main Street in Greenport, is already well-known for its market-fresh American fare. The buttermilk fried chicken is the perfect cozy dish.

For more family-friendly eats, try out Claudio's, which is also located in Greenport. It's the oldest, same-family-owned restaurant in the US, according to the National Restaurant Association.
