joker

  • "Joker" was Reddit's most discussed movie of 2019, topping other box-office hits like "Avengers: Endgame" and "The Lion King."
  • Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" was the only original movie to make the list.
  • "Game of Thrones" topped Reddit's list of the biggest franchises of the year.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

"Avengers: Endgame"ruled the box office this year, but it didn't rule Reddit.

The discussion-thread website, in partnership with consumer analytics company Brandwatch, revealed its most popular movies and entertainment franchises of 2019 on Wednesday. Warner Bros. and DC's "Joker," the R-rated origin story that has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, topped Reddit's list of most discussed movies on the platform for the year.

"Joker"has sparked both controversy and Oscar buzz this year as it exceeds all expectations at the box office. "Endgame"surpassed "Avatar" this year as the biggest movie of all time. But it failed to crack the top five movies among Reddit users, who even discussed "Aquaman"— which was released in December 2018 — more than some of this year's other biggest hits like Disney remakes "The Lion King" and "Aladdin."

The only original movie to make the list — as in, not a remake, sequel, or adaptation — was Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood."

HBO's "Game of Thrones"— which concluded this year with a divisive final season— topped Reddit's list of top franchises. The list also included "Star Wars" and, more surprisingly, "Star Trek."

Below are Reddit's most discussed movies and its top franchises of 2019:

Despite all the tension, NATO isn't going anywhere, UK ambassador says

U.S. President Donald Trump and France's President Emmanuel Macron meet, ahead of the NATO summit in Watford, in London, Britain, December 3, 2019. Ludovic Marin/Pool via REUTERS

  • Divisions between NATO leaders, mainly between Trump and his counterparts, were on display this week during a NATO summit in the UK.
  • Despite those apparent rifts, however, the 70-year-old alliance is here to stay, according to Britain's ambassador to the UN.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

US President Donald Trump and French leader Emmanuel Macron clashed about the future of NATO on Tuesday before a summit intended to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Western military alliance.

In sharp exchanges underlining discord in a transatlantic bloc hailed by backers as the most successful military pact in history, Trump demanded that Europe pay more for its collective defense and make concessions to US interests on trade.

But he also said the alliance was growing stronger.

"So NATO, which was really heading in the wrong direction three years ago, was heading down," Trump said at a news conference with Macron. "If you look at a graph, it was to a point where I don't think they could have gone on much longer. Now it's actually very strong and getting stronger."

Macron stood by comments he made last month describing NATO as suffering from a lack of strategic purpose akin to "brain death" and criticized fellow NATO member Turkey, which he accused of working with ISIS proxies.

Trump said Macron's criticism of NATO was "very, very nasty" and questioned whether the US military should defend any countries that were "delinquent" on alliance targets for national military spending.

All 29 member states have a target of spending 2% of their gross domestic product on defense and Trump has singled out Germany for falling short of the target.

UK Ambassador to the United Nations Karen Pierce has been watching NATO's 70th birthday party from her perch in New York and spoke with The World's Marco Werman about the future of the alliance.

Pierce said NATO is here to stay. "It's the most successful alliance, I think, in history. It guarantees the security and freedom of its 29 members."

SEE ALSO: Why Chinese leaders will be watching Trump's impeachment very closely

Marco Werman: Ambassador Pierce, on Tuesday President Trump seemed to embrace NATO even enthusiastically, saying that it has been growing stronger after heading in the "wrong direction." How do you explain the change of heart?

Karen Pierce: I wouldn't, actually, agree that NATO had been going in a downward direction three years ago. I think NATO had some very important strands because it's based on collective defense and that's enshrined in what's called Article 5. And it means an attack on one nation in NATO can be considered an attack against all. And new members continue to want to join it.

Werman: But Donald Trump has dismissed NATO in a big way. And even though he sees its vital signs as turning in a proper direction, whatever that means, he still will be found to insult the organization.

Pierce: I think the president has been particularly focused on the cost of NATO to the US compared to other NATO allies. And I think the important thing about that is that the alliance has agreed to do what's called burden sharing.

They made the defense investment pledge in 2014 moving towards spending 2% of GDP on defense. That is what the UK does. So we are standing up to it and we obviously encourage others to do so.

Werman: Still, there is a lot of disagreement among member states about what NATO is for and how it should function. What are the key points of friction between the European nations and the US on the purpose of NATO that most worry you — like the real Achilles heels?

Pierce: I wouldn't acknowledge that it has an Achilles heel, but I think there are legitimate questions about how far NATO should move into relatively new areas of cyber counterterrorism, possibly even space.

But I also don't want to give the impression that the threats in Europe have completely gone away. NATO has troops in Estonia for one very good reason, which is the threat from Russia. And I think allies want to talk about how exactly they can deal most effectively with some of these new areas.

Werman: I'm glad you brought up those NATO allies on the eastern front with Russia, because President Trump was asked today about whether Russia should be dealt with as a NATO adversary. He said: "I think it's a good thing to get along with Russia. And I campaigned on it. I mean, I'd go into big stadiums — people like it. And I think the Russian people would like to see it too. A lot of, a lot of good can come of it." So, apparently, at Trump's rallies, they like it when he shows his good relations with Russia. The UK and the US do not exactly see eye-to-eye on Russia right now. Where do the two nations differ on how they view the Kremlin?

Pierce: I don't think it's that we have a difference on how we view Russia.

What made a big difference, of course, to the West's view of Russia was the invasion of Crimea. And because of the Salisbury chemical weapons attacks in the UK, for which we judge the Russian military intelligence GRU to be responsible, we probably have fewer automatic connections to Russia, whereas I understand that the Americans probably have more official dealings with Russia, comparatively speaking.

Werman: Ambassador Pierce, there's a lot of polling and conventional wisdom that President Trump is widely unpopular in Britain. Why do you think that is?

Pierce: I wouldn't accept that the president's unpopular in Britain. I think there is a lot of respect in Britain for the US administration. And people are pleased that the US president has visited for the NATO summit.

There's huge affection and understanding and respect for America as a whole. That doesn't depend on one individual administration. And it was, of course, cemented during the Second World War and in the NATO alliance that came along 70 years ago. So I think there's an enduring friendship and solidarity there that transcends politics, to be honest.

9 details you might have missed in the trailer for the new James Bond movie 'No Time to Die'

no time to die poster daniel craig

The first trailer for the latest James Bond movie "No Time to Die" just landed.

In the movie, Bond has left MI6 and is enjoying retirement in Jamaica when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help on a mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Bond becomes entangled with a villain (played by Rami Malek) who has "dangerous new technology."

Watch the trailer below.

The trailer features car chases, suave suits, shootouts, and plenty of actors who have reprised their roles from previous movies, as well as some new faces, too.

In all the action, it's easy to miss some key details that shed a light on what fans of the franchise can expect from what Craig says will be his final time playing 007.

Insider delved into all the details you may have missed — from (literal) flags to a subtle jab at Craig's famous knee injury.

The trailer opens in Matera, Italy

In case you were wondering where the car chase in the opening sequence was taking place, it's Matera in southern Italy.

Cast and crew were spotted filming in the historic Italian town by paparazzi earlier this year.

The town's mayor Raffaello De Ruggieri told The Times that the 400-strong crew, plus extras, and an increase in tourism could boost the local economy by 12 million euros ($13.3 million).

It's immediately confirmed that the plot will center around some kind of perceived betrayal by Léa Seydoux's Madeleine Swann

"Why would I betray you?" Swann asks as they career through the Italian streets.

"We all have our secrets," Bond replies. "We just didn't get to yours yet."

Director Cary Joji Fukunaga confirmed to Empire magazine that Swann's past would have a big role to play in this movie.

"Her father is Mr. White," he said. "Mr. White was key in the deal that saved Bond's life with Vesper Lynd, so ... there's stuff to mine there."

The yacht approaching Bond's residence in Jamaica bears a British navy flag

The flag fluttering on the back of the yacht approaching Bond's island residence appears to be the Red Ensign or "Red Duster."

It is the flag flown by British merchant or passenger ships since 1707, before which it was used for the English and Scottish Royal navies.

The boat is either Bond sailing to his new abode, or an ally from the UK on their way to pick him up.

Lashana Lynch's new double-O has history in Cuba

Nomi (Lashana Lynch) seems to be a more than capable 00 agent, threatening Bond to "stay in [his] lane" and checking him out from the window of a 2019 DBS Superleggera.

We catch a glimpse of her in a balcony shootout, firing at an unknown assailant. By the looks of the tattered flag and architecture, this is a previous 00 mission in Cuba.

It seems we may get a flashback of her past missions in the new movie.

There's a nod to Daniel Craig's knee injury on the set of 'Spectre'

In her introduction to Bond, Nomi quips that "the world's moved on" since his retirement, and that if he gets in her way, "I'll put a bullet in your knee. The one that works."

It's a nod to Craig's widely reported injury on the set of "Spectre," which meant he had to have knee surgery, and a dig at Bond's age.

We catch a glimpse of the rare Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Bond throws a tarp off a 1980s Aston Martin V8 Vantage in the trailer.

The V8 has only been used in one Bond movie previously — "The Living Daylights" in 1987 starring Timothy Dalton.

Only 291 of the "Oscar India" V8 Saloons were made, and a further 167 convertible versions — both of which feature in the film.

It's much less popular than the iconic DB5 for 007's vehicle of choice, and not new enough to cameo in the latest movies. So, it was something of a surprise, then, when it was announced that the British muscle car would be making an appearance in "No Time to Die."

An annual procession in Matera could form the backdrop of the opening car chase

We see Bond and Swann in a tryst at this romantic location during a town celebration. Judging by the procession leaving the Cathedral during *that* motorbike jump, this could be the festival of Madonna Della Bruna, an annual event on July 2 in which an icon of the Madonna is paraded around the city.

There's more evidence that Rami Malek's Safin is a reincarnation of Dr No

The latest trailer did nothing to dispel rumours that Rami Malek might be playing a new incarnation of legendary Bond adversary Dr No. Throughout the trailer, we only see his hands covered with black gloves, and never catch his left hand on-screen.

Dr Julius No demonstrated his mechanical black-gloved hands to Bond in 1962's "Dr No," the affliction having occurred as a result of a radiation experiment gone wrong.

Malek also sports the same slick-backed hair and formal jacket style as Dr No in recent character posters.

Safin's lair could be another nod to 'Dr No'

The trailer shows Bond and Safin sitting opposite each other in a minimalistic subterranean lair.

The location could be Crab Key Island from the original "Dr No." As that's set in Jamaica, it would certainly fit with the 2019 movie filming locations.

Fans will have to wait till April 8, 2020 to find out.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin may have only taken salaries of $1 during their time at Google, but they are still two of the richest people in the world.

Both Page and Brin are among Alphabet's largest shareholders, valuing their combined fortune at $123.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. On Tuesday, the billionaire pair announced they were stepping down from their posts atop Alphabet, writing that the company was "well-established" and "no longer need two CEOs and a President."

Here's a look at how Page and Brin made and spend their fortunes.

In a letter on Tuesday, the billionaire duo announced that they would be stepping back from their roles as CEO and president of Alphabet.

"We've never been ones to hold on to management roles when we think there's a better way to run the company," the letter reads. "And Alphabet no longer needs two CEOs and a President." Google CEO Sundar Pichai will be taking over as the CEO of Alphabet.

Page was born in 1973 to two computer science professors at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Even at a young age, he enjoyed taking machines apart and trying to put them back together to understand how they functioned.

In 2005, Page bought a $7.2 million home in Old Palo Alto. The home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built from 1931 to 1941 for Bay Area artist Pedro de Lemos.

In 2009, after Page bought the historic home, he started buying adjacent properties to construct an environmentally friendly estate. The 6,000-square-foot home has a roof garden with solar panels and four bedrooms.

We don't know much about what Page's home looks like on the inside, but we do know that sometimes his billionaire buddy Elon Musk, who doesn't own property in Silicon Valley, sleeps over.

"He'll e-mail and say, 'I don't know where to stay tonight. Can I come over?'" Page told Ashlee Vance for her book, "Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.""I haven't given him a key or anything yet."

Brin has even swankier digs in New York City's tony West Village, where he's neighbors with celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Tiger Woods. He bought a 3,457-square-foot penthouse there for $8.5 million in 2008.

In 2015, Brin was rumored to be looking at an even more impressive space — a 30,000-square-foot mansion in ritzy Alpine, New Jersey. With an indoor basketball court, fitness center, and a pool, the incredible house would have cost Brin $48.88 million.

Page and Brin also travel to Sicily every year to host the super-exclusive Google Camp.

Google Camp takes place at the Verdura Resort, which has a 200-foot infinity pool, a mile of private coastline on the Mediterranean, and two 18-hole golf courses.

Page and Brin could enjoy authentic cuisine at Verdura's seven restaurants with Google Campers like Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, George Lucas, and Pharrell.

The two cofounders have also been known to spend their fortunes vacationing in Fiji.

While they were in Fiji in 2012, Brin and Page rode in Brin's superyacht: a 73-meter vessel called the Dragonfly. Brin reportedly bought it for $80 million in 2011. Previously, it was available for charter it for $773,000 per week.

Brin and Page also travel in style by air. They bought a Boeing 767-200 in 2005 — an unusual choice as executives usually prefer Gulfstream jets.

Brin's and Wojcicki's children don't exactly live in the lap of luxury that their parents' wild successes would indicate. As Wojcicki told The New York Times last year, she wants to protect her children from the "insanity" of the billionaire lifestyle — the kids do their own laundry, for instance.

The duo is among the most philanthropic billionaires in the US. From 2000 to 2017, Brin has donated $37.5 billion (6% of his fortune) and Page $38.5 billion (4%).

And Brin has been reportedly building an entire flying airship at a NASA research center near Mountain View, California. The project costs between $100 and $150 million — and is funded entirely by Brin.

The airship will measure more than 600 feet. Sources say Brin pictures the airship delivering goods and food on humanitarian missions, as well as being an "air yacht" for the billionaire's friends and family.

The 29 best beaches in the world in 2019, according to travel experts

Sanur beach, Bali, Indonesia

  • Sand, sea, and something to sip on are usually standard ingredients for what makes a pretty good beach.
  • But then there are some beaches that reveal a little something extra and leave a memorable mark on your sand-between-the-toes experience.
  • Insider spoke to industry experts including tour operators, travel editors, and bloggers to find out where they found the best beaches in the world in 2019
  • Their picks include sugary white strips fringing neon blue waters, blustery golden flats where seals laze in the winter sun, and one so tucked away that the only access is by boat or ladders.
  • Scroll down for mysterious statues, sands that are home to penguins and flamingos (not in the same place), and a beach that was Instagrammed over a million times throughout the year.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more details.

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Australia

"To even set foot on the squeaky white silica sand of Whitehaven Beach requires taking a boat from nearby Airlie Beach, and while this isn't a secret it's easy enough to find a quiet corner. With giant Goanna lizards for company, dense rainforest, and perfect blue seas, it's hard to think of a more perfect beach setting," said Lonely Planet's VP of Experience, Tom Hall.

Anakena Beach, Easter Island

Hall of Lonely Planet said: "There are beaches and there are beaches that feel like they sum up the heartbeat of a place. Anakena feels like the latter: overlooked by moai statues and the supposed site of the first landing by settlers, it's an essential stop on any visit to this most mysterious of islands."

Cefalu Beach, Sicily, Italy

"A beautiful beach backed by one of Sicily's finest medieval towns, Cefalu has something for everyone and is within easy reach by train of the island's capital, Palerm," Hall said.

Mallorca, Spain

Natalie Shalk, Senior Communications Manager at HotelTonight, said of booking trends: "Some of our most searched destinations on HotelTonight for 2019 were cities known for their great beaches such as Mallorca, Maui, Mykonos, and the Florida Keys. These types of destinations tend to be most popular during the winter/shoulder season months when travelers want to head to warm  weather destinations to escape the cold."

Santa Monica Beach, Cape Verde

Reigo Eljas, lastminute.com's Country Director UK & Ireland, said: "Santa Monica Beach is a 22km stretch of unmistakable beauty and a corner of paradise in Cape Verde. The vastness and secluded nature of the white sandy beach feels untouched by tourists."

He said: "Visitors can often find they have whole stretches of the beach to themselves leaving them in awe of the red rocky surroundings and crashing waves. In spring, there is the chance to spot North Atlantic humpback whales as they come to the oceans of Cape Verde."

Amanpulo Beach, Philippines

Philippe Kjellgren, founder of PK's List travel app and expert advisory service, said that Amanpulo Beach in the Philippines is probably the whitest beach in the world.

If that's not a reason to immediately pack up and go, then we don't know what is.

Patong, Thailand

Sophie Gough, Senior Director of KAYAK Europe, said: "There's always something new happening on lively Patong Beach but, don't miss out on a trip to its trending neighbor, Freedom Beach. Catch a quick long-tail boat ride from anywhere on Patong Beach and enjoy coastline views, before basking on this golden arc of sand. Remember to barter with boat vendors to keep the price down, pack some snacks, and load up on sunscreen."

Volunteer Point, Falkland Islands

Travel blogger Dan from self-titled blog Dan Flying Solo said: "When I set my eyes on the beach of Volunteer Point in the Falkland Islands this year I thought I must be dreaming. I haven't seen an inlet infused with that many hues of blue since I flew over world-famous Whitehaven Beach in Australia. Sure, this isn't a beach you come to for a dip, instead you are greeted by King Penguin colonies, dolphins playing in the surf, and if you are lucky, whales in the distance during the right season."

Dan rightly pointed out that beaches aren't all about piña coladas and sunbathing, as some beaches are perfect for witnessing nature at play.

He said: "As an insider tip, the best way to see this beach is by jumping on a helicopter flight with local pilot Tom. Nothing will ever feel as good as seeing penguins wondering along the silver sands from above!"

Cala Gracioneta, Ibiza, Spain

Melinda Stevens, Editor-in-Chief of Condé Nast Traveller, chose "the little cove of Cala Gracioneta and Playa de s'Estanyol on Ibiza."

"Not because of the sand or the sea so much as the beach side chiringuitos here — this literally magnetic island has a rebooted ruralism that's putting organic local ingredients on the plate.

"Fragranced by woodsmoke, live music in the mix … these are grown-up versions of the bars that set the whole scene going in the 1980s."

Tahiti, French Polynesia

Condé Nast Traveller's Stevens said: "It's long been a romantic cliché, but the narrative is changing in places such as Matira beach on Bora Bora and Nuketepipi atoll, with new hotels and local stories."

Gough at KAYAK Europe said of Tahiti: "Yes it's paradise, but if you enjoy shopping, to get the best from this beach you should still start your days early. Stores tend to close early — and fresh goods sell out fast — so be sure to get there in the morning to stock up. Don't miss visiting both the Museum of Tahiti and Her Islands (which will give you a look at Polynesian culture) and Musee Gauguin, a tribute to the French artist."

Calgary Bay, Isle of Mull, Scotland

Hall of Lonely Planet said: "The broad arc of golden sand on the northwest coast of the Isle of Mull rewards the effort to get here. It's a perfect place for a blustery walk, opportunistic picnic or even a quick paddle."

He recommended: "Come in May or September for the best combination of longer days and fewer midges, even if the sea breeze generally takes care of the latter."

Pampelonne Beach, St Tropez, France

Stevens from Condé Nast Traveller said this is the perfect beach "for people-watching while drinking endless rosé piscines."

"La Réserve's new beach club on Pampelonne is an unimpeachable alignment of water, sand, and parasol shade," she said.

St Barths

Stevens also loves "the perfect, secluded arc of Flamands, one of the finest places to unfurl your beach towel on.

"The Caribbean island has been reborn after the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Irma in 2017 — Eden Rock's the latest hotel to re-emerge," she said.

"Despite its glam reputation though, the island's beaches are down to earth and democratic and worth crossing the Atlantic for."

Kangaroo Island, Australia

"The untrammeled white sands of Emu Bay and D'Estrees Bay [is] pristine enough to compete with Whitehaven Beach, on a true wilderness island where you can camp on the sands and get dizzy watching the Milky Way kaleidoscope overhead," Stevens said.

Mwnt Beach, Wales

Stevens said: "[This is] one of our favourite staycations — the higgle-piggle coves and dragon's caves along the Ceredigion coastal path, such as the one at Mwnt, are as dramatic as those in Cornwall but have far less commotion."

Sanur Beach, Bali, Indonesia

Gough at KAYAK Europe said: "Just outside the island capital of Denpasar is the seaside village of Sanur. Calmer and greener than the city, this charming town is a place to visit galleries, ride a bike, and take photographs of the colourful fishing boats dotting the coastline."

Turks and Caicos

"Want to lay out on the beach with a few of your closest — and greenest — friends? Little Water Cay is known as Iguana Island, as it's the natural habitat of the endangered Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana," Gough said. "Explore several different habitats and enjoy the natural beauty of the island."

Maui, Hawaii, US

"You might hear a lot about 'Maui time.' The island has a relaxed, no-rush vibe so that means expect for things to take a bit longer than they would on the mainland," Gough said.

"The Road to Hana is famous, and a must-stop location is the Garden of Eden. While admission comes with a price tag (£12/$16), you'll get 26 acres of lush trails including Keopuka Rock Overlook, a 100-year old mango tree, local art gallery, and more."

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, Spain

For lively restaurants and bar-hopping, Maspalomas is a popular destination. It offers more than just €2 ($2.22) pints, though, as Maspalomas is also home to 400 hectares of protected sand dunes.

Gough said: "Maspalomas is all about sun-splashed fun and dancing until dawn. But for something different watch a film at the Moonlight Cinema, coined as the only permanent outdoor cinema in Europe. The experience lives up to its romantic name, with comfy sofas, cocktails, and wood-fired pizzas under the stars. The Faro de Maspalomas bus terminus is just a few steps away, as a major transport hub for popular bus routes."

The Maldives

Melanie Lieberman, Travel Editor at The Points Guy, said: "Just generally, we always love a beach in the Maldives, especially because there are so many ways to use points for an unforgettable luxury stay, including the new JW Marriott Maldives, Waldorf Astoria Hilton Maldives Ithaafushi, and the Saii Lagoon Maldives, a Curio Collection resort. Really, you can't pick a bad beach here."

Gough also chose to include the Maldives as place for the best beaches in 2019. She said: "Romantic and adventurous, the Maldives is the perfect couples escape. Spend the day on a dive experiencing the underwater ecosystem then enjoy a sunset dinner sampling local food like boshi mashuni (banana flower salad) or garudhiya (fish soup)."

Jamaica

Gough said: "While most of your time in Jamaica will likely be spent on your resort and the glorious beaches the island has to offer, why not branch out and see some of the island's natural beauty. Book an excursion to YS Waterfalls where you'll find the falls, a spring pool, and relaxing gardens."

Cozumel, Mexico

"Whilst glorious sandy beaches await in Cozumel, it is advisable to pack water shoes for swimming as some of the top areas for a swim are close to coral formations," Gough said.

"When not relaxing at the beach, a visit to the San Gervasio ruins is a must. Check out this former ancient Mayan shrine, dedicated to the Mayan goddess Ixchel, and walk among history."

Taghazout Beach, Morocco

Stevens said: "Surfers always lead the way. The red sands and pebbles on Morocco's west coast have that tousle-haired, driftwood-bar hippie haze and some consistently great point breaks. As if the Marrakech Express never stopped running."

Balos Beach, Crete

Lieberman from The Points Guy said: "We love a beach you have to work for, which is why we're crazy about Balos beach on Crete. It's only accessible by boat or by hiking, and at low tide you can explore sandbars and small tidal pools."

Monuments Beach, Los Cabos, Mexico

"My personal favorite beach from 2019 was Monuments Beach in Los Cabos, Mexico," Lieberman said. "It is a beautiful, rocky little alcove from which you can easily see one of the most iconic rock formations on Earth, El Arco and whale watch from your chaise lounge."

Aruba

Did you know there's a private beach in Aruba owned by Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino where flamingos roam free? It's called Flamingo Beach.

Gough said of Aruba: "After days spent on the island's beaches, head indoors for the afternoon to the Aloe Museum. You can learn all the health benefits of aloe vera, plus visit the gift shop for locally made aloe products."

Bondi Beach, Australia

According to a data report from Holidu, Bondi Beach, Australia was hashtagged 1,524,424 times in 2019. That is apparently an increase of 26.04% from the previous year — so it's surely worth a visit.

Winterton Beach, Norfolk, UK

Travel company Secret Escapes lists Winterton Beach in Norfolk, UK as one the country's top six hidden beaches.

Its reasons? There are some incredible walks starting from this beach, and a café which welcomes hikers with a rewarding slab of cake after they've whipped up an appetite.

Winterton Beach also supports a plethora of wildlife from grey seals, adders, natterjack toads, and the UK's largest colony of terns (a type of seabird).

Baia do Sancho, Brazil

Consistently voted as one of the best beaches in the world, Baia do Sancho in Brazil has been voted number one again for TripAdvisor's Travellers Choice award in 2019. A UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, travelers making their way to this beach have the choice to arrive by boat or tackling steps and ladders down to this piece of paradise.

Inside the luxury trailer park in the Hamptons, where trailers have ocean views and go for more than $1 million

Montauk Shores

  • Montauk Shores Condominium is a luxury trailer park that's home to the mega rich, and it's located right in New York City's ultimate resort area: the Hamptons.
  • The trailer park is in Montauk — a ritzy town located on the eastern end of Long Island with a median listing price of $1,495,000.
  • The 20-acre, gated community is filled with amenities that include a clubhouse, a playground, and a massive outdoor pool.
  • It's not unusual for trailers here to sell for over $1 million.
  • In late November, I took a four-hour train ride out from Manhattan and got an exclusive tour of the trailer park.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

On a sunny November afternoon in Montauk, New York, I toured a luxury trailer park that's home to the mega rich.

Located at the end of a secluded paved road, Montauk Shores Condominium is a 20-acre trailer park with features that include security, outdoor amenities, and "million-dollar" ocean views.

Though the park started out as an oasis of sorts for blue-collar workers, today, it's not uncommon to see hedge-fund managers, CEOs, and investment bankers alike buying and selling trailers worth over a million dollars.

In fact, as Jennifer Gould Keil reported for the New York Post in 2017, big players who have called the park home include Vitaminwater co-founder Darius Bikoff, hedge-fund manager Dan Loeb, and film producer Karen Lauder

I met up with real-estate agent Peter Moore from The Corcoran Group, who has been selling units in the park for around 15 years, to see what the hype is all about.

Keep reading for a walk-through of the wealthiest trailer park I've ever seen.

Montauk Shores Condominium is in the very far-eastern tip of the Hamptons, a series of beach towns and villages that extend across the end of Long Island. In November, I took a train from Mineola to Montauk, for an exclusive tour of the luxury trailer park.

Mineola and Montauk are about 100 miles apart. I spent roughly four hours transferring trains and waiting on various platforms before I finally arrived at my destination.

The Long Island town is no stranger to high price tags. According to real-estate platform Zillow, there are currently seven homes on the market there asking for more than $8 million.

The median listing price in Montauk is a jaw-dropping $1,495,000.

The Hamptons are known around the world as a destination for ultra-wealthy vacationers. The area is recognized for its stunning beaches, five-star dining options, and massive, multimillion-dollar homes.

The Hamptons are often visited by celebrities including Brooke Shields, Anderson Cooper, and Neil Patrick Harris.

But when a taxi driver picked me up from the station, he told me that if I'm looking to spend time in Montauk during the off-season, I should bring a friend. "You won't be meeting a lot of people out here," he said.

As he dropped me off on Main Street, I saw what he meant. Main Street, a popular strip in Montauk during the summer months, is like a ghost town in November.

Consider this: Montauk is home to just 3,662 year-round residents but welcomes an estimated 30,000 visitors over the course of the summer months.

A lot of the restaurants and shops were closed, and the ones that were open were mostly empty.

I sat for a late breakfast at John's Pancake House. While a couple of people shuffled in and out during my time there, the waitress told me that if it were a summer afternoon, the place would be packed.

Then, it was time to head to my real destination: Montauk Shores. It was a roughly 10-minute drive from Main Street.

The trailer park calls itself "Montauk's Best-Kept Secret," and its entrance fits the bill. The entrance to the 20-acre property sits off the end of a paved road and atop a bluff that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean — but it's so unassuming that I almost missed it.

Even the humble, light-blue welcome sign is easy to miss.

The gated entrance to the community was unlike any trailer-park entrance I'd ever seen. It only opens to those with a pass. Fortunately, I was meeting up with real-estate agent Peter Moore from Corcoran, who has been selling units in the park for around 15 years.

Montauk Shores started out as a campsite in the late 1940s. In 1976, to save the property from bankruptcy, a group of residents bought it and formed the first mobile home park condominium in New York.

Source: Montauk Shores Condominium

The community is made up of 152 owned sites and 47 leased sites. Moore explained that years ago, before the park became a hotspot for the wealthy, it was an oasis of sorts for firefighters, police officers, teachers, and surfers.

The community is managed by a seven-member board.

According to Moore, the park is still occupied by a handful of retired and active blue-collar workers who have owned their units for years. But many of the park's original residents have been priced out as prices have skyrocketed.

The park is made up of seven blocks that run perpendicular to the ocean, and two blocks that run parallel to it. Edgewater Drive is home to the coveted oceanfront homes — and, as I learned on my tour, some unbelievably high prices.

The park has a variety of amenities, including a gated playground and a gated set of pools, which were closed at the time. As I walked around, I felt like I was in a beach club rather than a trailer park.

About 80% of the park's residents use their units during the summer, which explained why, on a November afternoon, no one was around.

Source: Montauk Shores Condominium

Along with outdoor amenities, residents also have access to a clubhouse. As I walked around, I also found a plot of land filled with parked boats for the winter.

Moore explained that there are two types of units in the park: single-wide units and double-wide units. These homes can be as tiny as 200 square feet or as large as 1,400 square feet.

Source: New York Post

A handful of old homes in the community are permanent, but most have been wheeled in. Some of the oldest trailers in the park date back to the 1960s.

Moore refers to these older units as "pull aways." Instead of tearing down trailers to build new ones, owners simply roll out the old and roll in the new.

As we walked, Moore explained that it's not uncommon for units here sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. In fact, some of the oceanfront units are valued in excess of $1 million. The light green trailer pictured below sold for $540,000 in 2017.

On Zillow, the prices of for-sale units in the park range from $699,000 all the way up to $1.5 million.

Source: Zillow

This two-bedroom trailer is currently on the market for $890,000. I got to take a look inside.

Source: Corcoran

To the left of the front door is the kitchen, which, while small, includes all the essentials: a fridge, an oven, a sink, and a stove.

The kitchen's simple color scheme and beautiful natural lighting made it seem bigger than it really was.

Next to the kitchen is a small, blue bathroom with a tub and a shower.

In the back of the trailer is one of the two bedrooms. The room was nicely decorated, but the big bed left narrow walkways and little space for additional furniture.

Back by the front door and to the right of the kitchen there's a small living room.

I was surprised to see that the second bedroom in the trailer was large enough to fit a bunk bed and a dresser.

Despite its expensive price tag, this trailer doesn't come with a view of the ocean. Instead, it's located near the center of the park and boasts a patio, trees, plants, and a shed.

But the park's crown gems are the oceanfront trailers. That row of trailers is divided by a large pathway that leads up to a deck that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

These units are often valued in excess of $1 million. Like all the other units in the park, these are all still trailers, which shows just how much people are willing to pay for oceanfront views in the Hamptons.

Moore refers to the strip of oceanfront properties as "silly money." These homes attract big players including hedge fund managers, CEOs, bank investors, and business owners.

Some of these people include Vitaminwater co-founder Darius Bikoff, hedge-fund manager Dan Loeb, and film producer Karen Lauder.

Source: New York Post

To better understand how expensive these trailers are, consider this oceanfront property. This roughly 600-square-foot, two-bedroom unit sold for a whopping $1.25 million in 2018.

Source: Corcoran

And as for this one, Moore estimates that if it were to hit the market today, it would go for upwards of $1.5 million.

The jaw-dropping prices of these units are often defended by the breathtaking views they offer of Ditch Plains Beach.

Ditch Plains Beach is considered one of the best places to surf on the East Coast. Up on the deck, I got a glimpse of the views worth millions.

Source: CNN, OutEast

On a clear day, the views of the ocean stretch for miles.

After I left the park, I walked about half a mile to Ditch Plains and could still see the trailers in the distance, just barely peeking out over the bluff.

The day I spent walking around Montauk Shores made one thing clear to me: The trailer park's evolution is a microcosm of what's been happening with Montauk's real-estate prices at large.

Like Montauk Shores, the Hamptons as a whole are pricing out locals. As The Guardian previously reported, with few opportunities to work locally and increasingly expensive real estate, low-to-middle income households in the area are struggling to get by.

Towns in the Hamptons sport median home values well over $1 million, forcing even those who have grown up in the area to move away.

And while oceanfront views rarely come cheap, the prices at Montauk Shores are, simply, astonishing: The Hamptons are so expensive that a trailer will cost you over $1 million.

BANK OF AMERICA: 10 main themes will define the next decade. Here are the winners and losers for each.

Climate change

  • Bank of America Merrill Lynch analysts published a list of 10 megatrends that could shape the next decade for investors.
  • The next 10 years will be unlike anything seen before as climate change and a growing and aging population continue to present new challenges, the firm said.
  • Here are the 10 themes that will define the next decade, along with winners and losers for each, according to Bank of America.
  • Visit the Business Insider homepage for more stories.

By 2030, the world's population is expected to grow by one billion, with hundreds of millions at risk of losing their jobs to automation. At the same time, the climate crisis is worsening across the globe.

These are just a few of the trends that investors will be forced to grapple over the next decade, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

The bank compiled a list of 10 themes to help investors navigate the massive changes it expects in the coming years. The report also includes some broad winners and losers for each theme.

"We enter the next decade with interest rates at 5,000-year lows, the largest asset bubble in history, a planet that is heating up, and a deflationary profile of debt, disruption and demographics," the firm's analysts wrote in November.

They continued: "The social, political and economic responses to these challenges, all heading to a boiling point this decade, will overhaul traditional paradigms."

Here are the 10 megatrends that could shape the next decade, plus their respective winners and losers, according to Bank of America:

1. Space

Winners: Aerospace & defence

This candle startup has a beautiful gifting and unboxing experience, making them foolproof as holiday gifts

I know what you're thinking.

Does the world really need another fancy candle brand? Isn't that market saturated enough?

Well, yes, but hear us out — because we wouldn't be writing this article if we didn't think this particular company was doing something special.

Otherland, a relatively new startup, is making some of the most beautifully packaged and scented candles we've seen in a long time, and at a super affordable price point ($36 each) when compared to some of the luxury brands like Diptyque and Byredo. The soy and coconut wax base burns for 55 hours (a definite selling point if you ask me), and the candles can be bought in custom three packs ($89) or individually.

Once the art buyer for Ralph Lauren's stores and restaurants, Otherland founder Abigail Cook Stone has always known the importance that visuals play in our lives. Stone created this line of colorful candles with that in mind, understanding that even the smallest things, when well-crafted and beautiful, can bring so much delight and energy into our space.

In addition to their base offerings, Otherland cycles through its seasonal collections — and they never disappoint. The Manor House Weekend Collection is inspired by cool weekends in the countryside, full of sweet and fresh fragrances like corn, hay, lilies, and burnt maple. Its Gilded Holiday Collection is just as delightful. Think rich, smoky, sweet scents — the kind you may smell in a Narnian Christmas-tree forest.

When you open an Otherland candle, you're met with something so meticulously designed you'd think a jeweler was presenting you with a rare gem. Bright pops of color, be it from the summer collection's all-over color theme or the base collection's logo design, immediately grip you. And just as stunning as the packaging are the delicious fragrance combinations that are designed to transport you to "other lands."

The presentation experience, which, when you shop from the "gift" page includes the option of custom gold foil messaging on a set of matches, is what really sets these candles apart. There is such joy in the process of unwrapping, opening, smelling, and lighting them that we've already started gifting them to friends and family despite having just learned about them this week.

Check out all the scents Otherland has to offer below, including the holiday collection.

4 ways to find a sense of accomplishment when you're going through a rough patch at work

  • Tim Croll is a coach working with 20 different service-based companies in a group setting. He has a masters in leadership and is certified as a KidLead coach, and his core mission is to see others excel and achieve their dreams.
  • He says that business owners find themselves in hard situations on an almost daily basis, which can make it hard to feel a sense of accomplishment.
  • Keep your ultimate goal in mind, plan ahead for the seasons, figure out what's standing in your way, and don't define your identity by only external standards.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Every week, if not every day, business owners find themselves in situations that are hard. Plans that were made and put into place are suddenly useless due to the market changing. Sometimes the workload required to accomplish a goal is heavier than anticipated. Sometimes it is the overwhelming sense of loneliness while working through plans.

Even in the middle of all these things we can find our sense of accomplishment by adjusting our mindset to find the way through the challenges. Here's how.

SEE ALSO: Stop trying to make your employees happy — fulfill them instead

1. Put things into perspective

It's easy to get caught up in the moment. Our emotions often deceive us into believing something is more important than it actually is. The Eisenhower Matrix shows us that the key to success is to focus on the important, non-urgent parts of growth. It is easy to get focused on the urgent "fires" demanding attention — but, if we are going to unlock success and find that sense of accomplishment, we must be able to see the important and non-urgent activities.

Never lose sight of where you want to be. Have that future vision so crystal clear that nothing can distract you. When business is gruelingly hard it's easy to take your eyes off the goals — to get caught up in the stress of the day and forget that a bigger picture is calling us.

2. Identify the season that you are currently in

Each year nature moves through four seasons: a time to plant, a time to grow, a time to harvest, and a time to recover. Our businesses are no different: There's a time to plan, a time to nurture growth, a time to reap the benefit of our work, and a time to recover from our work.

Identifying the season starts with understanding the numbers of your business. Each industry has a different quarter when they're most profitable. Retail tends to be fourth quarter, service industry tends to be second quarter, and so on. As you analyze the season of your business you will find which quarters are your most profitable; this is your harvest season. Work backward from the times of harvest to when you need to increase your marketing and purchase inventory. Each season needs a strategy in order to take advantage of the following season.

Finding your sense of accomplishment will be difficult if you're in the recover season but failed to plan for this slower time when you were in your profitable quarter. If you planned for and identified the seasons of your business, you will find that while you may not be in the profitable month, the sense of accomplishment takes on the form of planned recovery.

3. Identify the next step you should take

One challenge rarely discussed is the sense of isolation. Business owners from all types and sizes of businesses have decisions that need to be made and challenges that must be overcome. As I talk with and mentor these owners, it is in the moments when all the bragging and boasting falls away and the reality of operating a business sets in that we seek to find that sense of accomplishment.

No matter the size of the company or number of employees, the process tends to be the same. There are several challenges or roadblocks the leader faces. In our minds, these challenges borrow the weight of anxiety from the others, so one challenge appears to be an impassable roadblock.

To find your sense of accomplishment in these situations, first clearly identify the roadblock. Write it down and define exactly what the roadblock is instead of attempting to create solutions within your own thoughts. Once you have clearly identified it, pick that one next decision or action step. Focus on that one thing — only after you complete it should you focus on the next step.

4. Look internally instead of externally

Society looks at the external. Often at networking events individuals ask questions to set your value as a person. What have you accomplished that would impress us? Too often our sense of identity is tied up with the results that we produce. Society judges our value based on the results — but results will never define who you are.

You are valued just as you are. You have a unique set of skills that no one else could possibly possess. With the combination of your personality and life experiences, there is no one just like you. This is your superpower: Your individual uniqueness creates an impact on all those that you come into contact. Never underestimate the influence that you have on everyone around you by showing up with all the talent and skill you have been gifted. It is the ability to find your value from within that will give you a sense of accomplishment, even when the results are not what you were expecting.

What is the thing that you have been called to accomplish with your life? Are you a world changer? Accomplishments come from the impact you leave on the lives you come in contact with — how you influence them to grow will always allow you to find that sense of accomplishment.

The 10 nastiest cruise ships that have sailed in the US

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) inspects cruise ships to see if they have sanitary issues that could put passengers at risk of getting sick.

The vast majority of ships receive passing grades of at least 86 out of 100 points, but a handful have failed for reasons like storing food at improper temperatures and not having sufficient procedures for handling drinking water. The 10 lowest-scoring inspections the CDC has ever conducted fall between 1995 and 2017, though six of them happened over 10 years ago.

These are the 10 lowest inspection scores the CDC has ever given a cruise ship.

Every superhero movie you can expect in the 2020s

The 2010s were dominated by superhero movies, especially those from in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there's still plenty more to look forward to in the next decade.

In the 2020s, Marvel, Warner Bros., and more studios will be leasing films based on comic-book characters. In addition to seeing the return of Wonder Woman (portrayed by Gal Gadot) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in upcoming sequels, characters like Black Adam (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) will make their debut in the coming years. Fans will also get to see Scarlett Johansson finally star in a standalone "Black Widow" film.

Keep reading to see all the superhero movies that are scheduled for release in the 2020s.

"Birds of Prey" (DC) — February 7, 2020

Margot Robbie will kick off the decade by reprising her role as Harley Quinn for "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)" from Warner Bros. The Australian actress played the DC character in 2016's "Suicide Squad," but things will be different this time around.

The first trailer for "BoP," released in October 2019, showed Harley getting a bit of a makeover after breaking up with the Joker (played by Jared Leto in "Suicide Squad"). You can expect her to team up with Black Canary/Dinah Lance (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Huntress/Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to save a girl from crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, and Ali Wong also star in "BoP."

"Bloodshot"— February 21, 2020

Vin Diesel will star as Valiant Comics superhero Bloodshot, a soldier brought back to life with enhanced abilities. You can watch the trailer here

"The New Mutants"— April 3, 2020

The first trailer for the "X-Men" spin-off was released in October 2017, back when the planned release date was April 2018. It teased a dark, horror-driven film directed by Josh Boones and centered on mutants who become trapped in a facility. Following a series of reshoots, 20th Century Fox moved the theatrical date to February 2019, then August 2019.

Now "The New Mutants" is set to hit theaters in April 2020, though people are skeptical that it'll get a big-screen release given the film's continuous production issues and how poorly the latest "X-Men" movie, "Dark Phoenix," performed at the box office

Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga star in "The New Mutants."

"Black Widow"— May 1, 2020

Ten years after Scarlett Johansson made her debut as Marvel's Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in "Iron Man 2," the actress will finally get a standalone movie set in Budapest and scheduled for release in 2020.

Johansson told Vanity Fair that "Black Widow" is "about self-forgiveness" and "family" while costar Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) described it as "very raw and very painful and very beautiful" during Variety's "Actors on Actors" series

The film will also provide closure for fans, who saw Johansson's character sacrifice herself for the mission in "Avengers: Endgame."

Johansson, Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, and O-T Fagbenle star in the film. You can watch the first teaser trailer here

"Wonder Woman 1984"— June 5, 2020

Patty Jenkins directs the "Wonder Woman" sequel and Gal Gadot returns as the titular character (also known as Diana Prince). They'll be joined by Kristen Wiig, who will play villain Cheetah/Barbara Minerva, and Pedro Pascal, who will portray foe Maxwell Lord. Jenkins also revealed that Chris Pine will return as Steve Trevor, though it's unclear how that's possible since the character sacrificed himself in 2017's "Wonder Woman."

As the film's title suggests, the "Wonder Woman" sequel will be set in the '80s. A photo shared by Gadot showed Wonder Woman looking at several TVs, with one showing Christie Brinkley driving a Ferrari in "National Lampoon's Vacation," which came out in 1983.

Gadot also shared an image of herself in her Wonder Woman costume, which the film's official poster indicates that the character will be rocking a new, metallic suit

"Morbius"— Summer 2020

The upcoming Sony film will star Jared Leto as the titular character, a vampire who appeared as Spider-Man's foe in the Marvel comics. In January 2019, Variety reported that "The Crown" star Matt Smith was in talks to join the movie.

In March 2019, Leto shared a photo of himself on set after completing his first week of filming.

The following month, he posted a video on Instagram and captioned it: "Because no one else will walk this path...this place of shadows, where we do what must be done, no matter the cost. #MORBIUS."

The official Twitter bio for "Morbius" says the film will be released in summer 2020 and it has been speculated that it'll specifically hit theaters on July 31, 2020.

Untitled "Venom 2"— October 2, 2020 (speculated date)

Tom Hardy starred in the first "Venom" movie, which hit theaters in October 2018. Although critics weren't a fan of the standalone film, leading to a 29% score on Rotten Tomatoes, fans enjoyed it enough to land the movie an audience rating of 80%. It also performed well at the box office, raking in more than $800 million.

Filming for Sony's untitled sequel is underway and was confirmed with a black-and-white photo shared by Hardy on Instagram, showing him the makeup chair. The actor later deleted the post

Andy Serkis is set to direct the movie and in addition to Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson will reprise their roles as Anne Weying and Cletus Kasady/Carnage, respectively. Variety also reported that Naomie Harris was in talks to play a villain known as Shriek.

The sequel's release date hasn't been confirmed by Sony yet, but the studio reportedly has an untitled Marvel sequel listed for October 2020. People speculate that the mysterious slot belongs to the next "Venom" movie.

"The Eternals"— November 6, 2020

"The Eternals" marks the second film set to be released as part of Marvel's fourth phase and the movie focuses on a group of immortals who have special skills, like super strength and the ability to fly.

The movie has a star-studded cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and Brian Tyree Henry. Plus, the film will reunite former "Game of Thrones" costars Richard Madden and Kit Harington.

Photos taken from the set reveal that Jolie will be sporting blonde hair and the actress previously told People that she's doing "everything from swords to ballet" to prepare for her role as an immortal named Thena.

"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"— February 12, 2021

Few details have been revealed about the Marvel movie, but Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and Simu Liu will play the titular character, who was introduced in the comics in 1973. Tony Leung will portray The Mandarin and actress and comedian Awkwafina will also star in the movie, as well. It's unclear who she'll portray.

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness"— May 7, 2021

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will team up for a new movie. Following the 2016 standalone "Doctor Strange" film, the sequel will have a "horror" tone and tie to Scarlet Witch's Disney Plus series, "WandaVision."

At San Diego Comic Con in July 2019, director Scott Derrickson described it as "the first scary MCU film."

"The Batman"— June 25, 2021

Robert Pattinson will follow in the footsteps of Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and more actors when he suits up as Batman for Matt Reeves' upcoming movie "The Batman."

In late May, it was revealed that the "Twilight" star officially signed on to play the Caped Crusader. He'll star alongside Zöe Kravitz (who's playing Catwoman), Paul Dano (the Riddler), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and John Turturro (Carmine Falcone).

Untitled "Spider-Man 3"— July 16, 2021

In August, Tom Holland's future with Marvel was shaken up after Deadline reported that Sony and Disney were unable to reach a financial agreement regarding Spider-Man. But the following month, it was revealed that the studios ended their feud and will be coproducing the upcoming third "Spider-Man" film, which hits theaters in summer 2021.

Based on the big cliffhanger that took place at the end of "Spider-Man: Far From Home," it'll be interesting to see how things play out in the third installment.

"The Suicide Squad"— August 6, 2021

James Gunn will direct the "Suicide Squad" sequel and revealed the star-studded cast in a post shared on social media in September.

Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) will reprise their DC roles. Newcomers to the franchise include Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, and Peter Capaldi

Gunn also warned that we shouldn't "get too attached," meaning that some characters may get killed off.

"Thor: Love and Thunder"— November 5, 2021

"Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi will return to direct the fourth "Thor" movie. In addition to the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Waititi as Korg,Natalie Portman (as Jane Foster) will be back. She'll have an even bigger role this time around, wielding the hammer to portray a female version of Thor

Jane was last mentioned in "Avengers: Endgame," when Thor revealed that they broke up.

"Black Adam"— December 22, 2021

In November 2019, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed that he'll be portraying DC anti-hero Black Adam in an upcoming film. The actor had been dropping hints for years, and called the role "unlike any other I've ever played in my career."

"He's a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who'll always do what's right for the people - but he does it his way," Johnson captioned an image of concept art for the character on Instagram. "Truth and justice - the BLACK ADAM way."

Untitled "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" sequel — April 8, 2022

Following the success of the 2018 animated Sony film, another "Spider-Verse" movie will be released in 2022. The news was revealed in November 2019.

"Black Panther 2"— May 6, 2022

At Disney's D23 convention in Anaheim, California in August, it was revealed that a "Black Panther" sequel will be released in 2022

"We're not taking our time, we're really trying to get it right,"Ryan Coogler, who directed the first film and will return for the second movie, said.

Untitled "Aquaman 2"— December 16, 2022

Jason Momoa, who made his debut as the character in "Justice League," will reprise his role as Aquaman for a sequel. It's unclear what the film will center on, but the actor told Esquire that he "came in with a big pitch."

"I came in with the whole thing mapped out, and they loved it," he said.

cruise ship 1920s

  • In 1920, the largest passenger aircraft could carry 30 people and one ton of mail.
  • During the Prohibition era, cargo trains were searched for alcohol.
  • Traveling by cruise ship was a black-tie affair.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

Life 100 years ago was different in many ways — especially when it came to traveling.

Driving cross-country, boarding a train, or hopping on a cruise ship looked much different in the 1920s than it does today.

Here's a look back at what traveling was like 100 years ago.

In 1920, the largest passenger aircraft could carry 30 people and one ton of mail.

This plane, designed by Alfred W. Lawson, had a wingspan of 120 feet and flew between 120 and 125 miles per hour.

Passengers boarded planes through small doors at ground level, not enormous terminals and insulated walkways.

Planes were much smaller back then.

Plane windows were just open holes.

You can't stick your arm out of a plane window anymore.

Airports weren't the glorified shopping malls they are today.

These Stinson "Detroiter" planes were the first closed-cabin planes used by a commercial airline.

In the 1920s, airports were more like garages.

Charles Lindbergh flew the first nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in his single-engine plane, Spirit of St. Louis.

Airplane passengers used to fly in bow ties and fashionable hats.

People don't really dress up to go on planes anymore, but there can be surprising benefits if you do.

Railroads were a popular mode of transportation in the 1920s.

In addition to carrying people, trains transported mail and manufactured goods.

As with flying, passengers traveled in style.

British author P.G. Wodehouse was photographed leaving for a family vacation from Waterloo Station in London in 1929.

In transit, movies were projected onto the carriage wall in cozy theaters lined with curtains and rows of chairs.

Watching movies on your phone wouldn't become an option until much later.

Blizzards slowed down travel in the 1920s, too.

The Empire State Express operated between New York City and Buffalo, New York, until the 1970s.

During the Prohibition era, cargo trains were searched for alcohol.

In 1929, authorities caught crates of whiskey disguised as green tomatoes in the refrigerator car of a cargo train traveling from Holandale, Florida, to Newark, New Jersey.

By the 1920s, automobiles had been around for a few decades.

Karl Benz is widely credited as inventing the first automobile between 1885 and 1886.

Gas stations looked like this.

Gas stations used to be one-stop shops for car maintenance.

Birthday road trips looked a little different back then.

Mayor Charles F. Sullivan of Worcester, Massachusetts, held up a sign that said, "Clear the road! This is my 20th birthday" while taking a drive in 1923.

Traffic cops' uniforms looked a little different in the 1920s.

There were around 82,000 police in the US in 1920, according to The Observer. By 1930, that number reached 130,000.

There was no GPS or internet to search for driving directions ...

You were on your own.

... and no built-in navigation system or touchscreen on the dashboard.

Cars were simply equipped with an instrument panel, steering wheel, lighting switch, and gear shift hand lever.

Bus tickets were dispensed on little paper tags.

The 1920s were known as the "golden age" of road building, according to the US Department of Transportation. Buses and trucks grew in popularity thanks to the Federal Highway Act of 1921, which funded the construction of a national highway system.

Tourist buses weren't always the most reliable form of transportation.

These days, people turn tourist buses into tiny homes.

The New York City subway used to cost a nickel.

Before the nickel-operated turnstiles, a ticket-chopper manually cut tickets at the gate. Today, a subway ride costs $2.75.

Cruising in the 1920s was the height of luxury.

Cruise ships today have Go Kart race tracks and zip lines.

Cruise ship passengers dressed in tailored suits and spiffy hats.

It was a different time.

Dances were a popular social activity on cruise ships.

Guests wore gowns and tuxedos on the dance floor.

To relax, they wore one-piece jumpsuit-style bathing suits to swim in cruise ship pools.

Swimsuit styles have changed over the years.

Cruise ships remain a glamorous way to travel today.

From a flashy Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen to a humbler Kia Soul, His Holiness Pope Francis has had his ridden in his fair share of Popemobiles this year.

The term "Popemobile"—  coined in the 1970s — is used to describe cars used to transport His Holiness, according to the New York Times. Some of its earliest iterations include a 1929 Fiat 525 and a Graham-Paige 837 of the same year, according to the Washington Post. Before that, the preferred popemobiles were portable thrones carried by footmen and velvet horse-drawn carriages.

Now, the papal passage is aided by the likes of a Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Romanian brand Dacia, the later of which gifted the Pope an SUV in November. Automakers sometimes make a custom car for the Pope during his visits to the country in which they are based, like Toyota during his visit to Japan and Dacia during a trip to Romania.

In 2017, Lamborghini presented a Huracan to the Pope, who then signed and blessed the car before it was auctioned off for charity, according to the automaker.

Take a look at this year's preferred form of papal transports:

Peloton's flop of a holiday commercial is turning into a viral meme.

The ad, which was released on YouTube on November 21 and is being shown on TV, caused a largely negative response online. People criticized the ad for many reasons, including its awkward structure and ambiguous and possibly sexist message.

In a statement to CNBC, a spokesperson said the company "was disappointed in how some have misinterpreted this commercial." Peloton did not return Business Insider's request for comment about the ad.

Raymond James analyst Justin Patterson predicted that the ad would be pulled in a Tuesday note and said his company was interested to see "how Peloton adjusts its marketing strategy given a history of Internet memes."

This social media uproar comes amid a crucial — and shorter — holiday shopping season for retailers. However, Patterson said he does not believe the ad will affect holiday sales.

Different images of the main character in the ad are being meme-ified in various contexts.

Some are using the ad to make fun of the company itself.

But some memes don't even seem related to the tech-enabled fitness-equipment startup.

Even the sporting world has gotten in on the viral trend.

And a few people made their own spin-offs of the commercial. (Warning: videos contain graphic language)
