Chef Grant Achatz presents 'Alinea Madrid' restaurant on January 11, 2016

Enjoying a meal at one of America's best restaurants can be an experience to last a lifetime.

Business Insider recently released its list of the 50 best restaurants in the country. We combined six noteworthy lists compiled by food critics, experts, and diners to come up with a definitive ranking of the best restaurants in America.

Alinea, in Chicago, earned the top spot. Open since 2005 but redesigned in 2016, Alinea has completely rethought the idea of what can be considered a meal. Co-owner and head chef Grant Achatz, along with executive chef Mike Bagale and chef de cuisine Simon Davies, have experimented with avant-garde dishes that showcase their molecular gastronomy skills. Ahead, take a look at the incredibly artful creations being served at the best restaurant in America.

5 things to do now so you don't have to think about money

It's summer — chances are you've got better ways to spend your free time than worrying about money.

But for 61% of Americans, money is an unavoidable source of tension, according to a survey from the American Psychological Association. More than one-third (36%) consider reducing stress a priority, but quieting money concerns requires more than deep breathing or meditation.

As a certified financial planner who spends a lot of time helping clients get their financial life in order, I've noticed a cruel irony of money-related worries: The more you try to ignore your financial situation, the more you tend to think about it. In my experience, the best way to reduce financial stress is to face it.

For some people, that means tackling long-term financial challenges, like paying off student loans. But even seemingly simple tasks, like sticking to a budget, can hang over your head.

So, to put money out of your mind, schedule a few focused hours and add the following five tasks to your to-do list. Before you know it, you'll have your money management on auto pilot, and you can return to more enjoyable things, like relaxing on the beach.

SEE ALSO: I'm a financial planner — here's the single best piece of advice I can give you about money

DON'T MISS: Most people blow 70% of their money on 3 things — and cutting back could be the key to retiring much earlier

1. Put — and keep — one month of take-home pay in your checking account.

For most of us, on a monthly basis, paychecks come in, and payments go out. One of the best ways to put your money on autopilot is to get ahead of this process.

Having enough cash in your checking account will prevent you from overdraft fees and insufficient funds, but you don't want to keep too much, since checking accounts rarely pay interest like savings accounts do.

If you're an employee, a good rule of thumb is to keep an amount equal to about one month's worth of paychecks in your checking account. That way, you'll be able to confidently pay bills that come up, knowing not long after you do, you'll get another paycheck to replenish the balance.

If you're a freelancer, keep an amount equal to two or three months' worth of expenses, depending on how long you tend to have between projects. If a bill comes early, or before you've gotten your next check, it won't be a big deal, since you've got a built-in cash cushion.

If you don't currently have that much cash, you can work towards building it up over the next few months. Start with a goal of getting to $1,000 extra in your checking account, and keep going from there.

Once you hit your target checking account balance, start siphoning off anything extra into a savings account. If your current bank doesn't pay 1% interest or more on savings accounts, then look for an online bank that does.

Extra time required: 5 minutes to adjust account balances online, or longer if you need to save up.

2. Change the statement closing date for the credit card you use.

Budgeting takes time, and a lot of effort. But there's a simple way to manage your spending without spreadsheets and tedious tracking, and all it takes is one credit card.

The strategy is to pay your credit card bill in full on the last day of the month, so you begin the next month with a $0 balance. This allows you to easily track your total spending from month to month. It also allows you to quickly check in on your progress throughout the current month — if you usually spend $1,200 a month and have already spent $500 in the first week, you know you need to scale back.

To make this work, you'll probably have to make the following adjustments:

• Choose one credit card (or maybe two, depending on your spending and the rewards you earn), and use it for all of your spending.

• Call your credit card company and ask to change the closing date for your statement to the last possible day of the month. Since the date has to stay the same, but every month is different, this usually means selecting the 25th or 26th.

• Pay your current total balance (not your statement amount) in full on the last day of the month.

When your statement closes, your bill is usually due two or three weeks later. That means you're often paying off your balance for the previous month on a random day during the next month, making it difficult to keep track of what you spent when.

Using this strategy means you're paying the amount you owe early — just a few days after your statement closes, instead of a few weeks. You'll also end up paying for anything you charged over the last few days of the month, which will be included on the next month's statement, but there's no harm in paying off those charges early.

You might miss out on a tiny amount of interest you could have earned by keeping your cash in savings, but the amount of brain space this strategy frees up will make the trade-off more than worth it.

Extra time required: 15 minutes to call your credit card company.

3. Increase your 401(k) contribution.

One of the best parts about saving in a 401(k) is that the contributions are taken directly out of your paycheck, before you have a chance to find a better use for that money. You'll also get tax benefits, and — if your company offers it — free money in the form of a 401(k) match.

It takes very little time to log into the online dashboard for your company's plan to change the percentage you're contributing. Push the amount as high as you can realistically handle, up to the annual maximum of $18,000 if you're under age 50 ($23,500 if you're 50 or older).

You've probably heard you should save 10%, or 15%, but the reality is the more you save, the sooner you can quit your 9-to-5 job. Some people save half their salary or more.

A good starting point, if you're new to this, is to save 5% more than you're doing today. If that amount is 0%, then go up to 5%. If you're already saving 10%, push it to 15%. If you're afraid to go that high, try something smaller to start. It's easy to log in and increase it again once you adjust to the slightly smaller paycheck.

At a minimum, if your company offers a match, make sure you contribute enough to get it. If you hit the maximum amount, don't stop saving for retirement there. You can contribute to an IRA in addition to your 401(k).

Extra time required: 5 minutes or less by using your company's 401(k) dashboard.

12 up-and-coming healthy fast food chains that should scare McDonald's

Salad and Go drive thru image

Legacy mega-brands like McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King have dominated the fast food industry for decades.

But within the last few years, many American consumers have shown a growing interest in healthier fast food that incorporates more low-calorie ingredients and fresh produce while remaining convenient and affordable.

In late 2016, top food executives from PepsiCo and Campbell Soup Company told Fortune that cleaner food is not just a trend, but a movement. And that shift is spilling over into the fast food market too, forcing legacy chains to try to keep up. In the last four years, Taco Bell has pledged to cut artificial ingredients and use cage-free eggs, and has introduced a lower-calorie menu. McDonald's has worked with dietitians, removed antibiotics from its chicken, and added more salads to its menu.

But new healthy fast food chains are also seizing the opportunity to compete with legacy brands, creating low-calorie menus for similar prices. These new US chains are regional (for now), but they're growing in popularity.

Check them out below.

Cava Grill — A Mediterranean fast food chain that started as a full-service restaurant

Cava Grill is a Mediterranean grab-and-go chain, originally founded in 2006 as a full-service restaurant. The chain serves Mediterranean salads and bowls — including hummus and pita, spicy lamb meatballs, and falafel — that range from $8 to $11 and average 500 calories.

It has 33 locations on the East Coast and Los Angeles, with nine more set to open by the end of 2017.

Salad and Go — A drive-thru salad chain

Salad and Go sells 48-ounce salads for around $6, as well as soups, smoothies, and breakfast items for around $4.

The brand is trying to rival more established drive-thru chains by making the ordering experience fast and convenient, cofounder Roushan Christofellis told Business Insider.

Since launching in the fall of 2016, Salad and Go now has nine locations in Arizona, with plans to open five more by 2018 and to expand elsewhere in the US by 2020.

Lyfe Kitchen — A healthy chain backed by Oprah's former personal chef

Founded in 2011 in Palo Alto, California, LYFE (an acronym that means "Love Your Food Everyday") has 15 locations in six states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas.

While the chain doesn't explicitly brand itself as healthy, everything on the menu contains less than 600 calories and 1,000 mg of sodium, and the dishes are free of high-fructose corn syrup, butter, cream, trans fats, MSG, and preservatives. Most items cost less than $10.

As noted by First We Feast, LYFE is backed by Art Smith, Oprah’s former personal chef, who has also appeared on "Top Chef."

The 30 worst reality TV villains of all time

Reality TV Villains

Everyone knows that the best part of any reality show is the villain. From Omarosa to Speidi to Corinne, no season is complete without someone we love to hate.

Here are our picks for the 30 worst reality TV shows of all time, in no particular order:

Abby Lee Miller was often seen berating her young students on "Dance Moms."

Abby Lee Miller was a villain from the first episode of "Dance Moms," which chronicled her dance company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Miller was notorious for being critical, her harsh teaching style, as well as her frequent tiffs with her students' moms.

It's hard to pick one Miller moment, but she frequently went hoarse from yelling at the girls and moms on her show. She was quick to tell anyone that, "Everyone's replaceable."

Where is she now?

Miller was indicted in 2015 on 20 counts of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets, and false bankruptcy declarations and was sentenced to 366 days behind bars. She began serving time on July 12, 2017

Jade Cole was larger than life during cycle six of "America's Next Top Model."

Jade Cole is one of the more recognizable faces from the reality show "America's Next Top Model." She was on the show during the height of its popularity and made headlines with her over-the-top antics on the show.

Cole is remembered for her flamboyant and arrogant nature, especially when she forgot her lines and made an awkward entrance in a CoverGirl commercial during a challenge on the show. She then proceeded to tell the judges that she did it on purpose.

Cole made it to the top three on her season, but was eliminated. When the producers asked her back for an all-star season, she very publicly declined

Where is she now?

Cole signed a modeling contract with Elite Model Management and has appeared in a few music videos.

Cathy Nesbitt-Stein was a rival to fellow villain Abby Lee Miller on "Dance Moms."

Abby Lee Miller was plenty villainous on her own, but when Cathy Nesbitt-Stein was introduced as a fellow dance teacher who enrolled her daughter Vivi-Anne in Miller's studio, it seemed Miller had met her match.

Nesbitt-Stein was the most controlling and overbearing mother on the show, a true feat for a reality program about fame-hungry stage moms. She was constantly bickering with the other mothers and even entered her own dance studio into the competitions.

Where is she now?

Nesbitt-Stein exited the show due to scheduling conflicts during the end of season five. She stills runs her dance studio in Canton, Ohio.

Brian Barnes M1 Finance CEO and Founder 5 1200x801

Do-it-yourself investing can be scary for a lot of people, especially young wanna-be investors.

The financial markets are complicated and so most people prefer to give their money to someone else to manage.

When Brian Barnes graduated from Stanford in 2012, he had a hard time finding a tool with which he could invest in the stock market on his own. This prompted him to start his own online brokerage site, M1 Finance, at 25 years old.

"What I was trying to do seemed relatively basic," Barnes penned in a recent post on M1's site. "I wanted to be able to pick my investments, and have recurring deposits automatically added to those allocations."

And that's exactly what M1, which has $60 million under management, allows users to do. M1 users can pick the stocks they want to invest in and then they can determine what percentage of their portfolio they want each position to make up. M1 automatically updates as you put in more money and as stock prices fluctuate to maintain your preferred portfolio allocation. So if you want Apple to make up 25% of your portfolio, M1 will balance your portfolio as such. That means you can't buy one Apple share, or one Amazon share. It's all about the portfolio.

Unlike most brokerage sites, M1 doesn't charge a fee for users to buy a stock. It does, however, charge users an annual percentage-based fee on their assets.

Last Monday, I opened up an M1 account to try my hand at the markets. Business Insider rules prohibit trading in and out of securities, and I plan to hold these investments for the long term.

Here's what it's like to have an M1 account based off of my experience.

SEE ALSO: Young Wall Streeters were surveyed about their experiences in finance — and their responses were brutal

This is what the M1 Finance icon looks like on an iPhone.

Before you fund your account on M1 you can start building a "pie." Clicking the turquoise plus sign allows you to add up to 100 "slices" to your pie. Slices can range from stocks, ETFs, or M1's pre-built pies.

Using the Discover feature you can find the slices you want for your pie.

5 easy green office hacks that could make your company more productive

the office dwight

It may sound crazy to give your employees control of their own thermostats, but it may just make them more productive.

Business Insider spoke with Emma Stewart, chief business development officer at Impact Infrastructure to find out what could be done around an office building to increase productivity. Impact Infrastructure runs simulations to find out how a company can alter its offices in a way that benefits both the environment and worker productivity.

Impact Infrastructure uses Autocase software to customize recommendations for each company, because not every company has the same building size or materials to work with. Some suggestions might work for certain companies, but not other companies, which is why customization is so important.

We asked Stewart to run a few simulations of changes companies can make to yield higher productivity, using an average office building in San Francisco as her example.

Here's what she came up with:

DON'T MISS: 16 cheap and creative ways to stay warm when your office is freezing

1. "Is it just me or is it cold in here?" says everyone at some point.

If you give 60% of your employees access to control their own thermal comfort, you could see a 3.7% increase in productivity and a 16.2% increase in health benefits, Autocase predicts.

Oftentimes buildings blast either the air conditioning or heat, to the point that offices are either freezing or boiling. This could be wasting an awful lot of energy for people who don't want that much heat or AC.

2. Let there be light!

Giving 100% of your employees control of the interior lighting around their workspaces could yield a 10.7% increase in productivity.

People prefer different levels of light, Stewart says, so companies might be wasting an awful lot of lighting for people who don't want it.

3. People like pretty views.

If you can manage to make 85% of views indoors and outdoors quality views, you could see a 3.9% increase in productivity, and a 20.2% increase in absenteeism benefits (fewer days off), the Autocase software found.

A 2015 study concluded that just looking at nature can improve focus and productivity. Green roofs work exceptionally well for this in cities, the Washington Post reportedBusiness Insider has also identified 11 health benefits of spending time in nature.

NFL POWER RANKINGS: Where all 32 teams stand at the start of training camp

$
0
0

tom brady

It's that time again: NFL training camps.

This week, several teams report to training camp, beginning the grind of the NFL season and in just seven weeks, we'll be kicking off the regular season.

It was an eventful offseason, with a hectic draft that saw the Chicago Bears make a controversial trade up to draft a quarterback and the Cleveland Browns continue to stockpile assets. Meanwhile, in free agency, the least likely team to spend big, the New England Patriots, landed some big names, while risers like the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans continued to fortify their rosters with some key acquisitions.

With most of the offseason in our rearview and real football on the horizon, here's a look at where all 32 teams stand heading into training camp.

32. New York Jets

Last season: 5-11, fourth in AFC East

Biggest acquisitions: Singed QB Josh McCown; drafted S Jamal Adams

Biggest losses: CB Darrelle Revis, WR Brandon Marshall, WR Eric Decker, C Nick Mangold

Super Bowl odds: 200/1

One thing to know: While there's not much hope for them to succeed on any real level this season, the Jets will offer one of the more compelling quarterback competitions in training camp, with Josh McCown, Christian Hackenberg, and Bryce Petty all competing for the starting job.

31. Cleveland Browns

Last season: 1-15, fourth in AFC North

Biggest acquisitions: Traded for QB Brock Osweiler; signed G Kevin Zeitler, WR Kenny Britt; drafted DE Myles Garrett with the No. 1 pick, S Jabrill Peppers, TE David Njoku, QB DeShone Kizer

Biggest losses: QB Josh McCown, QB Robert Griffin III, WR Terrelle Pryor, TE Gary Barnidge

Super Bowl odds: 300/1

One thing to know: The Browns appear to still be looking for a long-term answer at quarterback, but after a draft in which they had ten draft picks and acquired more, they're finally putting together an intriguing core to start a rebuild.

30. Los Angeles Rams

Last season: 4-12, third in NFC West

Biggest acquisitions: Hired Sean McVay as head coach, Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator; exercised franchise option on DL Aaron Donald; signed Connor Barwin

Biggest losses: C Tim Barnes, WR Kenny Britt, S T.J. McDonald

Super Bowl odds: 80/1

One thing to know: Hired at just 30 years of age, Sean McVay is the youngest head coach in NFL history. Together with veteran defensive stalwart Wade Phillips, it will be interesting to see what these two form out of Jeff Fisher's former team.

Jordan Spieth

Five years ago, Jordan Spieth was a Texas kid with dreams of making it on the PGA Tour. Now he's a three-time major champion with a big head start on joining one of golf's most exclusive clubs.

Spieth made a brilliant charge on Sunday at the Open Championship, pouring in four straight par breakers on the back nine and zooming past Matt Kuchar and into the winner's circle. The victory means that he's a single PGA Championship title away from the career Grand Slam, a feat that would put him on a level with Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.

Of course Spieth has had plenty to smile about for the past half-decade, even before he was within striking distance of making history. Take a closer look at the 24-year-old's life of lag putts and luxury.

With his Open Championship victory, Spieth has 11 PGA Tour wins and three major titles. He's the youngest player ever to reach both milestones.

At 24, he's already earned more than $32 million in his PGA Tour career. That's more than several of his top contemporaries, including Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson.

Spieth jump-started his career with a hole-out to force sudden death at the 2013 John Deere Classic. He went on to win the event.

All the biggest moments from 'Game of Thrones' season 7 episode 3, 'The Queen's Justice'

Screen Shot 2017 07 30 at 10.30.25 PMWarning: Huge spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season seven, episode three. If you aren't caught up on the series or the season, read at your own risk.

After another long week, season seven episode three of "Game of Thrones," titled "The Queen's Justice," finally arrived.

"The Queen's Justice" delivered a lot more action than the first two episodes of the season, and focused on the bickering and brooding in Dragonstone between Jon Snow, Tyrion, and Daenerys; the fate of Euron's prisoners; and a battle at Casterly Rock. This episode was so heavily focused on the queens and ladies in Westeros that we didn't get to see what Arya was up to, and for the second week in a row, we didn't see The Hound and the Brotherhood Without Banners.

There's a lot to remember between Cersei's revenge and the Stark reunion in Winterfell — so we highlighted the episode's biggest moments.

Here's our recap of "The Queen's Justice:"

SEE ALSO: The 5 ways to kill a dragon in ‘Game of Thrones’ — and how Cersei plans to do it

Jon and Daenerys meet in Dragonstone, but it doesn't go as well as either of them planned.

Jon and Davos were greeted in Dragonstone by Tyrion and Missandei, and then by dragons.

Daenerys expected Jon to bend the knee. And Jon expected Daenerys to offer her help to fight the White Walkers immediately. But unfortunately, the two are both incredibly stubborn, which is definitely a trait they share because they are related (but do not know it, yet).

But with the help of Tyrion Lannister, the two come to an agreement: Daenerys will let Jon makes weapons out of the dragonglass at Dragonstone. That's good, because it can destroy White Walkers.

Melisandre is leaving Westeros.

In a move that was surprisingly responsible, Melisandre tells Varys that she's leaving Westeros for Volantis, rather than cause a stir upon Jon and Davos's arrival. She says she'll be back, but this is probably the last we'll see of her for some time.

Euron brings his gift to Cersei: and it's Ellaria and Tyenne Sand.

This was expected, but it took a brutal turn. Euron also included Yara Greyjoy as a prisoner to Cersei, but we only see the fate of Ellaria and Tyenne. Cersei locks them in a dungeon, and gives them a long monologue while wearing a lipstick color we've never seen her wear before. Cersei poisons Tyenne with a kiss, the same poison used to kill Myrcella. Cersei locks Ellaria in the same dungeon, forcing her to watch her daughter slowly die.

Before that, however, we see Theon get rescued by Greyjoys. Looks like they might be the one ship heading to Dorne to recruit allies.

Olenna Tyrell Game of Thrones season seven

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season seven, episode three "The Queen's Justice."

Fire and ice finally collided on the newest episode of "Game of Thrones."

Daenerys Targaryen met Jon Snow (and fans went wild), Sansa and Bran had another Stark reunion, and Olenna Tyrell gave one of the best farewell's in "Game of Thrones" history.

But which moments had fans talking the most?

Social-media monitoring platform Brandwatch found nearly 29,000 "Thrones"-related mentions on Twitter during the hour and five minutes it aired on HBO, and identified the scenes when conversation peaked.

Here are the five most talked-about moments from the latest "Game of Thrones" episode:

5. People could not stop talking about Sansa taking charge at Winterfell and many wondered who was waiting at the gate for her.

9:46 p.m. ET — Around 600 mentions

After Jon Snow journeyed south with Davos to meet Daenerys Targaryen and hopefully mine some of her dragonglass, he left Sansa in charge at Winterfell where she dutifully took note of how much food was available to feed the castle with winter fast approaching and oversaw the making of armor.

Not only that, but fans got their first Stark reunion between Sansa and Bran. Unfortunately, many were hoping a different Stark sibling would walk through the door.

4. A lot of fans were simply thrilled that "Game of Thrones" was back again and that Jon and Davos had arrived at Dragonstone.

Their tense arrival on the beach, surrounded by Dothraki and with their weapons taken from them, was made all the better with a reunion between Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister.

Here was the amazing dialogue if you want to relive a little bit of the magic:

Tyrion: "The bastard of Winterfell."

Jon: "The dwarf of Casterly Rock."

Tyrion: "I believe we last saw each other atop the Wall."

Jon: "You were pissing off the edge, if I remember right."

We were all excited.

3. Fans were overwhelmed to see Sansa and Bran together again — and had feelings about their bizarre reunion.

9:48 p.m. ET — Around 630 mentions

"Game of Thrones" fans have long been waiting for a Stark sibling reunion after the family was torn asunder in season one. Both Sansa and Bran have not had easy lives since they last saw one another. Sansa has been married to two different men, tortured by the late King Joffrey, and become a political pawn that was used and abused throughout the past seven seasons.

For his part, Bran has fled from Winterfell, journeyed beyond the Wall, seen the White Walkers, and watched as his direwolf Summer and faithful servant Hordor were brutally killed by wights.

Seeing them together was emotional for the viewers and for Sansa, but Bran seemed unmoved. As Isaac Hempstead Wright told INSIDER, he's a completely different character now that he's the Three-Eyed Raven.

The ages you're the smartest at everything throughout your life

If you think you've already witnessed the rise and fall of your peak self, researchers have news for you: As far as your intelligence is concerned, you likely have several new highs to look forward to. Some of them, like the ability to read others' emotions or do basic arithmetic, don't arrive until middle age or beyond.

"At almost any given age, most of us are getting better at some things and worse at others," Joshua Hartshorne, an MIT cognitive science researcher and the lead author of a study looking at how intelligence changes as we age, told Business Insider.

The team behind that study quizzed thousands of people aged 10-90 on their ability to do things like remember lists of words, recognize faces, learn names, and do math. Their results suggest that no matter your age, there's almost always a new peak on the horizon.

DON'T MISS: A 24-year old got a mysterious disease where her body attacked her brain — and everyone thought it was in her mind

Overall brain processing power and detail memory peaks around age 18.

Scientists use a test called Digit Symbol Substitution to assess everything from dementia to brain damage. It requires people to use a number of cognitive skills at once — including processing speed, sustained attention, and visual skills. The tool, which typically involves pairing numbers with symbols, is also part of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, one of the most widely used measures of intelligence.

Hartshorne employed the test in his study of how intelligence changes over time and found that participants' performance generally peaked in their late teens.

The ability to learn unfamiliar names peaks at 22.

Most adults are bad at memorizing bits of information without context, a phenomenon that neuroscientists chock up to the Baker/Baker paradox. A classic example of this idea is that you'll have an easier time remembering a story about someone who bakes than a person with the last name Baker. Because there's no context that links the person to the name, it doesn't become firmly lodged in your memory.

Young people don't appear to be as saddled by this issue, though — a 2011 study found that humans are best at learning new names in our early 20s.

Peak facial recognition ability occurs around 32.

The human brain has a remarkable capacity to recognize and identify faces, and scientists are just beginning to learn why. On average, we know that our ability to learn and remember new faces appears to peak shortly after our 30th birthday.

The first researchers to link peak face recognition with an age are now studying so-called "super-recognizers"— people with a rare, superior ability to recognize a familiar face. Not coincidentally, many of them are in their 30s.

Daenerys Targaryen Jon Snow Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season seven.

The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" charged ahead with a jam-packed episode, but as usual there were smaller moments and callbacks fans might have missed. From added subtext in Olenna's mic-drop death scene to the teasing of the mysterious catspaw blade, we're breaking down every scene.

Keep reading for a look at 11 details in "The Queen's Justice" you might have missed.

Jon Snow was startled by a dragon right after proclaiming he wasn't a Stark — foreshadowing much?

Most of the fandom knows by now that Jon Snow is actually half Targaryen. His father was Rhaegar Targaryen (Daenerys' brother) and his mother was Lyanna Stark (Ned Stark's sister). The shock of his first encounter with a dragon felt like a nod towards audience members in the know.

His blood relation to Daenerys is part of the reason fans are against the idea of a romance blossoming between Jon and Daenerys, but Targaryens are known for their incestuous relations.

The Dothraki man overseeing Jon and Davos' arrival is the same one who first brought Daenerys to his khal as a captive.

Qhono (played by Staz Nair) is the Dothraki character who took Longclaw from Jon Snow when Missandei requested the Stark emissary relinquish their weapons.

If he looked vaguely familiar, Qhono was a prominent part of Daenerys' time as a Dothraki captive on the sixth season.

Qhono has come a long way since threatening to rape Daenerys Targaryen on the sixth season — now he's one of her most trusted Dothraki soldiers. The Mother of Dragons had him on the beach when Jon and Davos arrived, and then later ordered him to show the "guests" to their chambers.

Everyone who died on 'Game of Thrones' this week, and how

Game of Thrones season 7Warning: Spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season seven, episode three, "The Queen's Justice." If you aren't caught up on the series, read at your own risk.

It wouldn't be "Game of Thrones" without all the deaths. This week's episode, "The Queen's Justice," ended just as violently as last week's, with an attack on Olenna Tyrell in Highgarden.

On "Game of Thrones," there are so many characters to keep up with. And even in its seventh season, it can get a little hard to keep track of who has died.

So here is your guide to who died on "Game of Thrones" last night:

SEE ALSO: All the biggest moments from 'Game of Thrones' season 7 episode 3, 'The Queen's Justice'

Tyene Sand

Cersei wants revenge on Ellaria Sand, who killed her daughter, Myrcella. So in "The Queen's Justice," Cersei locks Ellaria up in a dungeon with her daughter, Tyene Sand, who she poisons the same way Ellaria poisoned Myrcella: with a kiss and a poison called the long farewell. So Ellaria has to watch her own daughter die a brutal death, and there's nothing she can do about it.

Eventually: Ellaria Sand

While we don't see Ellaria die on screen, actress Indira Varma confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that this was her last appearance on the show. She'll have a slow death rotting in the dungeons of the Red Keep, but fortunately we won't see it.

Olenna Tyrell

Instead of protecting their home of Casterly Rock, Cersei has Jaime bring a majority of his Lannister army (including Bronn and Randyll Tarly) to take the Tyrell home of Highgarden in The Reach. Cersei wants to give Olenna a cruel death in King's Landing, but Jaime convinces her otherwise, and he gives Olenna poison.

But Olenna goes down memorably. Right after she drinks the poison, she confesses to Jaime that she was the one who poisoned Joffrey, and she wants Cersei to know it.

23 fast food chains from around the world that we wish would come to the United States

PROMO_global food

The INSIDER Summary:

  • INSIDER rounded up 23 of the most popular, highly rated, and unique fast-food chains around the world.
  • Mr. Lee is a popular comfort food spot for beef noodles in China.
  • Telepizza is basically Spain's version of Pizza Hut, but with some unique menu options (like nacho pizza!).

Americans may be the original arbiters of fast food, but that doesn't mean we're the only ones who know how to produce craveable pizza and burgers in mass quantities.

INSIDER rounded up some of the most delicious, enviable, and unique (to American palates, anyway) fast food chains around the world that we wish would come to the United States.

From a fast food restaurant dedicated to baked potatoes in Scotland to the Netherland's FEBO fast food machine, we'd love to see the following 23 spots stateside.

Toast Box: Singapore

Can you imagine an entire fast-food chain dedicated to toast? Toast Box is one of the most popular Singaporean food chains and serves unique toasty creations alongside artisan coffee, also known as "kaya toast and kopi" (jam with toast and coffee). Singaporean toast is as thick as Texas toast, with toppings like coconut jam, peanut butter, and even corned beef.

Spudulike: Scotland

Baked potatoes may be seen as a boring side dish, but at Spudulike, they're the main attraction. Their baked potatoes are stuffed with all manner of fillings like the above egg, chorizo, and spinach-stuffed potato. There's even a chicken Tikka Masala potato.

Hell Pizza: New Zealand

As their tagline says, "The best d----d pizza, in this life or next!" This hell-themed pizzeria has pizzas based on each of the seven sins (we bet gluttony is the most popular!). Greed is made with double the ingredients, while Wrath is spicy. We think this would do especially well in America.

cars watching movie Sci Fi Dine in Theater Drive in Disney World

Disney World is known for its outrageous foods and themed restaurants, along with featuring familiar brands (there's a hidden Starbucks in each park). But one of the most unique dining experiences is Hollywood Studio's Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. '50s-style diner food is served to you in car-shaped booths while old movie clips and cartoons play on a big screen in front of you — just like old outdoors drive-in.

The catch? It's all actually indoors. Keep reading for a firsthand look inside this Disney restaurant.

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater is a popular eatery inside Disney World's Hollywood Studios.

You can make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance of your Disney World trip.

Head to the Disney World dining reservations site to learn more.

Once inside, there's a retro host stand where you can make or modify reservations, or check in.

8 tech gadgets that pay for themselves over time

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

Nest ThermostatShopping smart isn't just about buying things on the cheap — it's about investing in services that'll prevent you from having to make additional purchases in the future.

This line of thinking is especially difficult to adapt in the consumer tech world, where every company does their best to convince you that this year's Thing is constantly superior to last year's Whatever. However, there are certain gadgets out there that can actually pay for themselves in the right hands. Here are a few of them.

DON'T MISS: These are the 5 best handheld vacuums you can buy

An HD antenna

We've taken a look at a bunch of HD antennas recently, and this one from Monoprice provides solid reception at a good price. It's biggest drawback is that it's not omnidirectional, so for the best results, you'll need to point it in the direction of a tower to get the best reception.

I've never paid for cable, but bought an HDTV antenna recently and am very pleased with the results. You don't get nearly as many channels as you would with even a basic cable subscription, but on the other hand, you're not paying for cable every month. This is the perfect investment if you're looking for an inexpensive way to watch big network TV shows and events, like "The Big Bang Theory" or the Oscars, live.

Monoprice Large Paper Thin HDTV Antenna, $15.69, available at Amazon.

Rechargeable batteries and charging dock

Thankfully, a lot of electronics have transitioned away from running on standard batteries. But if you've still got a few stragglers that are still running fine, do yourself a favor and buy a set of rechargeable AA's or AAA's.

These Eneloop batteries from Panasonic can be recharged up to 2,100 times and can hold a majority of their charge for up to 7 years. They're likely to outlast whatever you're using them to power, and a four pack of Eneloop batteries only cost three times as much as a pack of regular batteries that you can only use once. A four pack should suit most people fine, but if you've got kids with lots of toys, it might be wise to step it up to an eight pack.

These batteries don't come with a recharging dock, so I'm also going to recommend an eight-bay dock from EPL here as well.

Panasonic B Eneloop AA 2100 Cycle Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (Pack 4), $13.99, available at Amazon.

EBL 8 Bay AA AAA Battery Charger with AA 2800mAh (4 Pack) and AAA 1100mAh (4 Pack) Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries

An energy conserving outlet

Leaving an appliance running is both unsafe and energy inefficient. There are a few energy saving outlets on the market, but the consensus is that this one from Simple Touch is the best.

You can set its timer to cut the power to whatever it is plugged into it after one, two, four, or eight hours. For example, if you listen to music to fall asleep, you can plug a speaker, stereo, or radio into the Simple Touch and set it to turn off in an hour or two. The Simple Touch does have a small power draw, but you'll end up saving on your energy bill every month. One thing to keep in mind is that you can only plug in appliances that draw a maximum of 1,000 watts — so larger appliances like space heaters and washing machines are a no go.

Simple Touch Auto Shut-Off Multi Setting Safety Outlet, $17.85, available at Amazon
