While there may not be a lot of downtime at sea, sailors and Marines make the most of their time off with "swim calls."

During these events, they are given permission to swim near the US vessel while onlookers keep an eye out for sharks.

We've collected 21 photos showing that the US Navy and US Marine Corps have the best diving boards and swimming pools.

5 of the worst style mistakes Trump has made

$

trump_suit_mistake1

President Trump is no stranger to poor dress.

Just when we think he's peaked, another horrible sartorial move takes him over the top.

Just this week, Trump committed what we called"the single most unforgivable men's suiting sin"— wearing mismatched suiting separates. He was photographed wearing black pants with a navy suit jacket.

Now is a good opportunity to remember five other style mistakes Trump has been caught making time and time again.

SEE ALSO: Trump just committed the single most unforgivable men's suiting sin

Trump wears his tie too long.

A tie is supposed to hit at your belt, but Trump's lands closer to the crotch of his pants. His ties are just too long. This forces Trump to improvise with the help of office supplies, which leads us to the next issue.

He Scotch tapes his tie together.

Hundreds of unspoken rules govern our society, rules that are not meant to be bent or broken, and that we all must live by. One of those: Thou shall not use Scotch tape to fix wardrobe malfunctions.

Trump has egregiously violated this rule. If he were to learn how to tie a tie correctly, he wouldn't need to use Scotch tape. He has solved a problem he shouldn't have had in the first place. And his solution is one of the worst of all theoretically conceived. It's impractical, ugly, and inefficient.

His suit looks baggy.

Trump often wears suits by Brioni, an Italian label known for its suiting. But you'd never know Trump's suits are such a fine make by the way he wears them. You don't think of Trump as a sartorial icon, even though he spends thousands on these suits. Another adage applies here: it's not what you wear, but how you wear it.

It comes down to fit. His suits are cut too big, with absurdly wide pant legs and sleeves too long. It makes the whole ensemble look cheap, just as his fire engine red tie does.

Tim Cook Apple

On Tuesday, Apple announced its upcoming $999 iPhone X.

The new device hits shelves November 3, but the announcement has already made waves across the stock market, Business Insider reported.

But what about the man behind Apple? Since taking the helm of the tech giant in 2011, CEO Tim Cook has established himself as a private individual, more focused on discussing Apple than his own life.

Still, we can piece together some clues about what his daily schedule looks like.

Here's a look inside the typical routine of Apple's CEO:

SEE ALSO: Inside the daily routine of billionaire Bill Gates, who loves cheeseburgers, tours missile silos, and washes the dishes every night

Cook typically wakes up brutally early. According to USA Today, he usually rises at 3:45 a.m.

Once he's up, he gets to work reading through some of the 700 to 800 emails he gets every day. He once told ABC that he's "a bit of a workaholic" who reads "the majority of those" messages.

Next, Cook hits the gym around 5 a.m. The CEO doesn't work out on Apple's campus, however. He prefers the privacy of an outside gym.

A company that builds underground bunkers to withstand nuclear war has made millions since the Trump presidency began — take a look

Doomsday preppers are making a fortune off fears that the world is coming to an end.

Rising S Company sells underground doomsday bunkers at every price point. The Texas-based manufacturer claims to have seen business soar between 500% and 700% in the months since the election of President Trump, with millions in sales generated this year.

The bunkers are made from steel and set 11 feet underground, which makes them useful in natural disasters, nuclear attacks, and other doomsday scenarios, according to the company.

"Anybody can put containers in the ground and sell them to people. What Rising S sells is safety," Gary Lynch, general manager of Rising S Company told Business Insider.

Rising S Company declined to share more specific revenue numbers, but said it made between $9 million and $14 million in sales in 2016 — a wide range. Lynch expects the company to sell 200 shelters this year.

Take a look inside some of Rising S Company's most popular models.

These days, you can't turn on the news without thinking the world is coming to an end.

In the span of a month, two major hurricanes swept through the US, an 8.2-magnitude earthquake rattled Mexico, and wildfires blazed through Canada, Oregon, Montana, and California. As of September 11, officials had put the collective death toll above 150.

There's a psychological reason the world seems like it's ending right now — and it should give people hope »

A rising number of Americans are taking precautions for a future apocalypse.

In the wake of recent natural disasters and continued nuclear threats from North Korea, more people are stocking their homes with survival supplies, picking up new skills at the shooting range, amd buying units in massive underground shelters built to protect entire communities.

Rising S Company started out as a storm shelter manufacturer.

About a decade ago, a woman approached owner Clyde Scott about building her a much larger storm shelter — around 40 feet long — that came with all the creature comforts of home.

"She wanted the whole works — bathrooms, beds, sinks, camera systems — and it got me thinking, she isn't wanting no ordinary storm shelter, but a survival shelter," Scott told Dazed.

He used $3 million from his storm-shelter business to create a bunker company, and business has kept him busy every since. According to the general manager, Lynch, the client list includes professional athletes, tech moguls, politicians, and celebrities. Scott told Dazed and Confused magazine that he's working on a high-end bunker for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The 12 best things you can buy at Lush if you only have $10

lush soap table

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Lush is known for having higher-priced items, but it's still possible to treat yourself on a budget.
  • The trick is knowing which products in the store will give you the most bang for your buck.
  • Your $10 will go far in the bath, shower, and skin care sections of the store.

Walking into Lush with only $10 to spend can seem like a hopeless cause. Lush isn't exactly known for their inexpensive prices, so at first it can feel like $10 may only be enough to get you a small sample. It is possible to treat yourself on the cheap, but you'll need a Lush store game plan.

The trick here is not only to know which products are under $10, but also which ones will get you the most bang for your buck. What's the point of being frugal if you're going to burn right through that $10 product you just bought? Here's where your $10 will go the furthest.

Bath Bombs

Every item in this section is under $10. If you're looking to get the most baths for your buck, skip the higher-priced bombs and pick up an Ickle Baby Bot ($4.50) and Butterball ($4.95).

They're less exciting to look at than some of their pricier counterparts but they'll work wonders on your skin in the tub. Ickle Baby Bot will give you a calming lavender-scented blue water, while Butterball has chunks of cocoa butter to leave a layer of moisture on the skin.

Bath Bombs - $5.95 – $8.95

Skip the Bubble Bars and pick up some Fun

If bubble baths are more your thing but you only have $10, skip the Bubble Bars and grab a tube of Fun instead.  This multi-purpose moldable soap is one of the best values in the store. A tube is $9.95 and will get you about 5-6 bubble baths. You can also use it as soap or shampoo.

Best of all, 2.5% of all Fun sales are donated to charities in Japan that help build safe outdoor places for children to play, so you can feel good about treating yourself to this one.

Fun - $9.95

Bath Oils

Bath Oils are a surprisingly inexpensive way to get a luxurious bath. They're basically colorful chunks of shea and cocoa butter that are designed to melt in hot bath water. Grab a You've Been Mangoed if you want a strong citrus scent with green water, or Floating Island if you want something a little more subtle and vanilla scented. And at $4.95 each, you could actually grab both and stay under $10!

There were a lot of remarkable performances on television in 2017. And that's great, but it also creates a little problem: A lot of actors are nominated for Emmys in the same categories as their costars, who are, when you really think about it, coworkers.

This makes the competition even more intense, since it becomes a question of who was better on the same show.

With amazing performances from the casts of "Big Little Lies,""The Night Of,""The Handmaid's Tale,""Saturday Night Live,""Feud: Bette and Joan," and more, these are all the actors competing with their costars for an Emmy this year.

The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Stephen Colbert, air live on CBS on Sunday from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. And here's how to stream them.

The Emmys air on Sunday night.

There were so many great performances this year on so many great shows that among the nominees, it's difficult to decide who should win.

But it's easier to figure out who will win, based on precedent and overall buzz.

For example, "The Handmaid's Tale" is a a critic favorite in the outstanding drama, outstanding lead actress, and outstanding supporting actress categories, but it will likely lose to NBC's massive commercial and critical hit, "This Is Us."

We put together a list of our Emmy predictions, along with who we think should win. So if you're excited to see the best contenders among all the nominees this year, look no further.

SHOULD WIN: "The Handmaid's Tale"

"The Handmaid's Tale" is relevant, impeccably acted, and visionary, from the directing to the costumes to the music. Despite its upsetting setting, the show finds some humor and light in the darkness. This well-made modern interpretation of the classic novel shows how book adaptations work in the television format. It's also completely changed the game in proving that Hulu is some serious competition for Netflix, Amazon, and all the networks now.

Britney Spears spends a boatload on her pups, and she's not the only one.

Britney Spears' conservatorship's financial documents for 2016 surfaced recently, revealing that the star spent $29,852 on her dogs this past year, according to TMZ.

Spending close to 30 grand on your dogs may seem excessive to the average dog owner. But, when it comes to celebrities, Spears' pet spending isn't the highest on the spectrum.

Celebrities have gone above and beyond for their pets, providing them with their own personal masseuses, and leaving $30 million to them in their wills.

Here are all of the celebrities who love to spend big on their pets:

5 men's footwear startups with stylish boots that'll stand out this fall

$

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

Cognac Suede President_864X600_f954ddf6 f3ea 4508 9edb 875a743b4a13Fall is here and that means it's time to put away the boat shoes and loafers in exchange for a pair of boots.

Finding a great quality pair of boots isn't hard — you can find them everywhere.

Brands like Timberland, Clarks, L.L.Bean, and UGG have all been making boots for generations — and frankly are good at it.

Going to a big name brand is a sure way to get something that will get the job done, but it's also a sure way of getting something that will blend in with the masses.

While the aforementioned brands are essentially household names, there are plenty of startups that make boots that are just as good, if not better. New footwear companies like Wolf & Shepherd, Nisolo, Thursday Boot Company, and more all are choices you need to consider when shopping for boots this fall.

Instead of taking a shot in the dark at a brand you might not know about, we tested several boots from startups to bring you the best. Look beyond your local of department stores and stand out from the crowd with one of these choices.

Check out the best men's boots to buy from startups this fall, below:

SEE ALSO: The startup behind these sneakers is skyrocketing in popularity — and it's easy to understand why after trying them

Wolf and Shepherd Blitz Chelsea Boot

I instantly became of fan of Wolf & Shepherd after trying the Gunner Driver shoes. With the change of seasons, the brand sent over its Blitz Chelsea Boots, and they have definitely become a fall favorite of mine. The boots feature a super soft premium calfskin leather upper and memory foam insoles, which both make for extreme comfort. The elastic on the sides of the shoes allow for easy entry, and there's no need to break them in.

Before owning the Blitz Chelsea Boots, I purchased a similar Chelsea boot from a much bigger brand and by the end of the day, I couldn't wait to take them off. Needless to say, I haven't worn them since.

In addition to their comfort, the Wolf & Shepherd Blitz Chelsea Boots have a very appealing style. They're taller than most other Chelsea boots and have a sharp and sleek toe. You'll want to go up half a size for the perfect fit.

Wolf & Shepherd Blitz Chelsea Boot, $425

Sutro Footwear Charlton Honey Vibram Sole

The Sutro Footwear Charlton is a great option if heeled boots aren't your thing. While the Charlton is fashionable, its biggest attribute is its durability, as it takes on a traditional work boot style.

What I like most about these boots is that they scream handmade. The boots are by no means perfect, but that's what makes them great. The cuts of leather are premium, but naturally treated, so you can see very slight differences in color or texture in the shoes. As soon as you open the box, you'll get the distinct smell of leather — something that immediately lets you know the quality is top-notch.

With a 5-inch ankle and a durable Vibram outsole, you'll be able to put these boots to work or simply wear them casually this fall.

Sutro Footwear Charlton Honey Vibram Sole, $248

Nisolo Lockwood Trench Boot

The Nisolo Lockwood Trench Boot isn't a style I'd typically go for, but its Brandy colorway is what interested me the most. Despite my own person style preference, the Lockwood features a classic design that's inspired by WWI-era boots worn by soldiers. They're ethically handmade in Peru and have premium leather on the upper, an inside lining, and stacked outsoles.

When I put them on, I was genuinely surprised at how comfortable were. The leather lining is cushioned and the insoles are made of memory foam and integrate an arch support. After putting them on, I was happy with the style, too. They go well with jeans and stand out from almost any other boot.

My inbox is overflowing — here are the 3 types of messages that make me never want to respond

25171622373_02d87baaf8_k

As a career coach, my inbox is often flooded with messages from people I'm connected with on LinkedIn who are reaching out about something or another.

Now, I don't mean to be judgmental, but I often find myself sighing with annoyance when I open them up—so much so that I was motivated to write this article.

You see, the thing is, I'm open to making new connections and willing to talk to anyone, so the fact that I often put off responding to messages means people are missing the mark.

And that stinks because it takes effort to both find people to connect with in the first place and then cultivate a networking relationship from there.

I want to be excited when I read your message and I know you want that, too (or at least I hope you do!). Often times, it only takes a few tweaks to your words or tone to make that possible.

Below are messages inspired by real ones I've received along with my thoughts on why they're not the best approach.

Quick note though: Unless you have LinkedIn Premium, you'll need to connect before you send a message. But that doesn't mean you can just send the generic invite. Instead, send a customized one with with these short templates so they'll accept your request and you'll be able to actually send over a note.

SEE ALSO: 13 annoying words and phrases that'll kill your chances of getting hired

1. The empty query

It's nice that you want to find a way to help one another out, but this message doesn't give me anything to work with. Perhaps there's something in my my background that led you to reach out in this manner?

Revised message

Anyone can spot a generic, non-customized message from three Wi-Fi zones away, and if you care about standing out, you'll be careful not to be labeled as generic, right? The updated version attempts to start building a rapport. By including a customized, targeted line, I can tell George has looked into my background and is excited about finding a way to potentially work together. And that makes me much more inclined to respond to this.

2. The vague ask: initial reaction

How's everything? Hm, that's a rather large question for someone I don't know in real life. In fact, I'm not sure I'd even know where to begin in responding to this person.

Fenway Park

Sports stadiums just keep getting better and better. With a wide array of extras ranging from offbeat concession stands to immersive fan experiences, the on-field action is usually only half of the fun of attending a live event.

But as good as most facilities have become, some stadiums stand out. Whether because of their amenities, their history, their design or simply the quality of the events they host, these venues go above and beyond to give attendees a great experience almost every time their doors open.

Below, read all about 25 North American stadiums that every sports fan should make a point of visiting at some point in their life.

Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, Kansas

Team: Kansas Jayhawks

Capacity: 16,300

The lowdown: There have been more big college basketball games played in Allen Fieldhouse than just about any other arena, and the powerhouse Jayhawks are almost always worth watching. While you're there, pay your respects to the game's most important pioneer – the court itself is named after James Naismith, the first coach in program history.

Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Capacity: 76,416

The lowdown: Locked in a constant battle with CenturyLink Field for the title of loudest NFL stadium, the rabid Chiefs fans make Arrowhead Stadium one of the toughest places to play in any sport. When you've had your fill of Kansas City football, head down to the food court for some Kansas City barbecue – the burnt ends are especially good.

Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York

Event: US Open

Capacity: 23,771

The lowdown: It's hard to beat the intensity of a marquee tennis match, especially when the score is close and the players have a history together. In North America, Arthur Ashe Stadium is the gold standard – every year, dozens of celebrities flock to the venue to watch the final rounds of the US Open, the last major of the season.

This is what the shape of your lips says about you

$

angelina jolie

The INSIDER summary:

  • One face expert believes your pout is directly correlated with the way you behave.
  • If you have thin lips you are probably independent and self-reliant.
  • If you have artifically enhanced lips you might have a more sensual side to you.

Face scientists worldwide consider the lips to be one of the leading features determining personality. When we feel happy, angry, or sad, the first physical indication is the mouth, as we express our thoughts both verbally and through the expressions we make. Now, experts are suggesting that your lip shape may signify even deeper psychological peculiarities and personality traits.

Jean Haner, an expert in face reading and author of The Wisdom of Your Face, believes that your pout is directly correlated with the way you behave with the different types of people around you, based on the ancient Chinese art of face reading. "The most important thing your lips speak to is [what you're like] in relationships and how giving you are," Haner told Cosmopolitan. "You were born with the features you have for a reason—every feature is linked to a part of your personality and they all work together to represent who you are."

Lip reading fixates on the shape, size, plumpness, and the definition of the cupid's bow—that little dip above the middle of your top lip—to uncover underlying personality implications. Here are some common lip shapes and the traits they may suggest.

Naturally full lips

Evenly and naturally plump on both top and bottom, this lip shape indicates that you are an empathetic individual with strong parenting instincts. People with this lip shape—think Angelina Jolie—harbor an innate desire to safeguard and protect others; their caring, selfless nature means that they deeply care about others and find great pleasure in doing so. They like to maintain a close circle of friends and value relationships above all else. This is what your favorite lipstick shade says about you.

Thin top and bottom lips

Women with thin lips—think Kirsten Dunst—tend to be loners and rather timid, according to Haner. Their introverted personality also means that they are self-reliant; they are OK with being alone and are perfectly content with the idea of being independent. Although they may not be as well-versed in relationships as people with naturally fuller lips, that doesn't mean they can't function well as partners; they may need someone with a set direction and a distinct set of interests/hobbies for the romance to succeed. (Here are six other hidden strengths of introverts).

Lips that are plumper in the center

People with a plump lip center—think Chrissy Teigen—revel in the spotlight and pride themselves on being natural performers. They prefer to surround themselves with people than be alone, according to Haner. Being the center of attention and the life of the party is their life motto. When it comes to relationships, they may tend to be more of a "drama queen," but above all, they like to pursue fun and excitement in order to get the most out of life. Here's what your lipstick shape says about your personality.

The 21 best Netflix original movies of all time, according to critics

$
0
0

Beasts of No Nation Idris Elba

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Netflix has released some impressive original movies.
  • The highest rated of the bunch is "Tramps" with a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • "Deidra and Laney Rob a Train" and "Win it All" round out the top 3.

Netflix continues to be a rock-solid tour de force in the world of modern cinema. Though the screens on which its original series and movies are presented are a far cry from those at your local cineplex, they still hold strong. Day after day, Netflix churns out fresh content at an intimidating pace. It’s a company that craves original material, has gained a reputation for giving creative control to the filmmakers it brings on board, and it plans on pushing the film and television industry in new directions.

Naturally, with all of the content it puts out, some misfires are bound to happen. Nobody (and no multi-billion dollar company, for that matter) is perfect. But don’t let the misfires fool you. Because when Netflix succeeds, they not only prove their worth among other major film studios, but give the Hollywood elite a run for their money.

People have had their doubts about Netflix. Could it really rival the bigger studios? Could it create content that measures up to the big leaguers? Well, creativity may be just subjective, but according to the critics, Netflix appears to be doing just fine. So, if you’re tired of shelling out cash at an overpriced theater, stay home, kick back, and check out one (or all) of the 21 Best Netflix Original Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes).

18. "iBoy,""ARQ,""The Siege of Jadotville," and "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House"– 60%

Sitting pretty at a comfortable 60 percent on Rotten Tomatoes are four films of considerably distinct styles. One of these movies is "iBoy," a sort of science fiction/superhero hybrid that delves into the world of technology and where it might take us in the future. "ARQ" is another flick that takes a dark look at the future, where the world’s resources are in jeopardy. Threaded into this desperate plot to protect the future is a claustrophobic setting, time-looping, and sociopolitical themes that are just as topical in the film as they are today.

The other two films are "The Siege of Jadotville" and "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," a war picture and haunted house story, respectively. "Jadotville" recaps the 1961 Central African siege of Jadotville (and stars Jamie Dornan of "50 Shades of Grey" fame), while "Pretty Thing" revolves around a stay-in nurse who starts to believe that the house in which she’s working may have a ghost problem.

All four are fine efforts from Netflix.

17. "XOXO"– 71%

In "XOXO," there are four stories and one focal point: an EDM festival. Add in romantic entanglements, some road trips, and underdog dreamers, and it might just seem as throwaway as any other coming-of-age drama. But to Netflix’s credit, it’s not. This movie brushes through the lives of young 20 and 30-somethings just trying to find some meaning. Even if that meaning is as fleeting as a romantic gesture.

EDM is all about sensory elevation, and whether or not this sort of movie is your cup of tea, you might appreciate its attempt to bring that same sort of elevation to a visual medium. It gives this confidently modern movie about the goings on of the modern young adult some creative juice — more so than many other coming-of-age movies tend to pull off.

16. "To the Bone"– 71%

Putting the plight of the human experience front and center, "To the Bone" is a stark and unsettling look into the world of eating disorders. Lily Collins stars as Ellen, an anorexic girl who feels as though she might be trapped inside her condition. No matter what she does or who she turns to, her health continues to diminish. So, desperate, she seeks new outlets — one of them being a doctor (played by Keanu Reeves) who seems willing to do whatever is necessary to help her get better.

Anorexia is an often overlooked problem, one that’s often not treated with the same urgency as other physical ailments. "To the Bone" attempts to change that, offering a more intrusive perspective into the life of someone dealing with anorexia whose life is literally counting on her ability to overcome.

GUNDLACH: The dollar is overdue for a rally

$

Screen Shot 2017 09 12 at 4.07.01 PM

DoubleLine Capital Founder Jeff Gundlach held his quarterly webcast on global markets and the economy on Tuesday.

The main takeaways included:

  • The dollar is overdue for a rally, even after many investors inaccurately believed that it would rise because the Fed was raising rates.
  • Commodities are very cheap compared to equities, and this is great for investors looking for "long-term secular timing."
  • On politics, President Donald Trump would likely deliver 'tax-reform lite,' and we will have to accept that North Korea is armed with nuclear weapons.
  • On bitcoin, Gundlach said: "I'm going to let this mania go on without me."

In his second-quarter webcast in June, Gundlach advised short-term stock traders to raise cash, and warned that low volatility should not be seen as a new template for the market.

A little over a month later, he told Reuters that he had bought S&P 500 put options in a bet that volatility would rise. The trade, he said, was "like free money." Volatility spiked briefly early in August but has remained near historic lows.

Gundlach's flagship fund has also been in the news. The Wall Street Journal reported in August that assets under management at DoubleLine's Total Return Bond Fund fell 13% from their peak last September to $54 billion at the end of July.

Gundlach, who recently joined Twitter as @TruthGundlach, criticized the story before it was published. He later told Bloomberg he was reducing positions in the firm's funds to invest in higher-quality credit assets, which could be costly to performance in the short term.

Here are highlights of the webcast:

Fund performance

Gundlach began by addressing the Wall Street Journal's story on his flagship fund's performance.

He said that DBLTX — the DoubleLine Total Return Fund — outperformed the Bloomberg Barclays Aggregate Index, its benchmark.

Returns are "actually better on an absolute risk-adjusted basis," he said.

'We are not really bullish on bonds.'

Gundlach moved on to the European Central Bank, which has taken a more hawkish tilt compared to the doldrums of negative interest rates.

The German 10-year yield is set to move higher when the European Central Bank starts tightening, he said.

'This is what I mean by wacko season.'

The spread between junk bonds in Europe and Treasurys in the US has come down as the investors bought the much riskier corporate debt.

"Which of these should you want to own?"

jurassic worldThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Fans have lots of sequels to look forward to in 2018, as well as numerous remakes.
  • Whether it's an animated film fans have been waiting on for a decade or the next "Harry Potter" installment, there's lots of movies to look out for.
  • Here are 15 sequels you didn't know are coming in 2018.

In addition to numerous remakes coming out next year, the movie industry is also churning out sequels to beloved classics (and some not so beloved classics). Whether it’s an animated film starring classic arcade characters, a talking bear movie, or a "Harry Potter" related movie, all of these films will be showing in a theater near you in 2018.

General consensus is that sequels suck. After all, most sequels are trying to cash in on the nostalgia of the first movie, which can be impossible to match. Movies like "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Batman & Robin" have gone down in infamy, giving sequels a bad name. But then there are still films like "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "The Dark Knight," which remind us how good sequels can be. Sometimes sequels can be memorable and stand on their own… when they’re not crashing and burning in the box office.

So, let’s check out these 15 sequels you didn’t know were coming in 2018. Which ones do you think will succeed? Or do you think all of them will be failures critically and commercially? And if none of these interest you, you can go see the numerous comic book sequels coming out, such as "Deadpool 2," "Avengers: Infinity War "or "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" instead. Or, you know, go see an original movie.

16. "The Incredibles 2"

An animated Disney feature we’ve been waiting for since the first film was released over a decade ago in 2004, "The Incredibles 2" is about a family of superheroes. Bob Par is Mr. Incredible, who has super strength. His wife, Helen Parr, is Elastigirl, whose ability is (surprise surprise) super stretchiness. Their daughter, Violet Parr, can turn invisible, and their son, Dashiell “Dash” Parr, has super speed. Then there’s the Parr’s infant son Jack-Jack, who appears to have every power in the book. In this film, Bob must stay behind and watch his son Jack-Jack while his wife saves the world.

Oscar winner Brad Bird ("Ratatouille,""Tomorrowland"), who also wrote and directed the first film, will be taking the same roles in this film. Many of the original voice-actors are returning to their roles, including Craig T. Nelson ("Parenthood") as Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter ("Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice") as Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell (Please Give) as Violet, and Samuel L. Jackson ("The Hitman’s Bodyguard") as their cool friend Lucius Best aka Frozone. The only voice actor not returning is Spencer Fox as Dash, who is being replaced by the unknown actor, Huck Milner.

Get ready for some family-friendly superhero action on June 15, 2018.

15. "The Predator"

A sequel to the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi film "Predator" (1987) about a team of commandos in the Central American jungle fighting against a dangerous creature known as the Predator. It was originally going to be a reboot, but instead became a sequel when the director and co-writer Shane Black ("Lethal Weapon," "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang") signed on and stated it would be a sequel that explores more of the Predator mythology.

One of the actors in the film ensemble, comedian Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), commented to "Entertainment Weekly" that: “Predator was a real privilege to do, and if people think they’re going to see a remake of the original movie, they’re in for a surprise…. A very pleasant surprise.”

Some other cast members include Yvonne Strahovski ("Dexter"), Trevante Rhodes ("Moonlight"), Olivia Munn ("X-Men: Apocalypse"), and Alfie Allen ("Game of Thrones").

Get ready to see them all become prey when "The Predator" hits theaters on August 3, 2018.

14. "Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom"

The plot of the latest film is currently unknown, but "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" follows closely behind the previous film in the "Jurassic Park" series, "Jurassic World." For those unfamiliar with the now classic film, Jurassic Park was about a park featuring dinosaurs brought back by the power of movie science. Of course, something goes terribly wrong and visitors to the park are in for the fight of their lives.

Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help") reprise their roles, as does Jurassic Park’s Jeff Goldblum ("Independence Day"). Director J.A. Bayona ("A Monster Calls") worked with the original director of Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow, and the film has been finished.

Expect to see plenty of prehistoric creatures when "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" comes to theaters on June 22, 2018.

The Golden State Warriors are the latest NBA team to announce the addition of an ad patch to their jersey for the upcoming season.

Japanese tech holding company Rakuten has purchased the ad space on the front of the Warriors' jerseys with a three-year, $60 million deal, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN

Here is a look at the patch. The Rakuten logo will be white on the Warriors' blue jerseys (you can see the other NBA teams with ad patches below).

According to the report, the Warriors rejected at least one larger offer.

"We actually had multiple finalists," Warriors chief marketing officer Chip Bowers told ESPN. "This was not the biggest deal that we were offered."

The team will also rename its practice facility to "The Rakuten Performance Center."

So far, 14 NBA teams have announced the addition of ad patches and more may come as we get closer to the season.

Some teams have opted for team-color-friendly patches. Some teams have formed true two-way partnerships with their ad patches promoting a business that the team also works with off the court. And one team has even chosen to promote a charity with their ad patch.

Below is a look at the partnerships that have been announced so far.

Everything we know about the 'It' sequel, which can't get here soon enough

It 2 Warner Bros

Following the incredible opening weekend at the box office for "It"— the adaptation of the classic Stephen King book which took in over $123.4 million last weekend (the biggest opening ever for the month of September) — everyone can't wait for the sequel to get here.

And though Warner Bros. hasn't officially pulled the trigger on a sequel (at least publicly), it's a foregone conclusion that it's going to happen That's especially true since at the end of the movie, the "It" title comes up on the screen, followed by "Chapter One."

Always intended to be two movies, the first looks at the Losers Club as kids when they first encounter Pennywise. The second will then jump to present day when the losers are adults and must return to Derry to take on Pennywise one last time. This mirrors the structure King did with the book.

"It" director Andres Muschietti revealed some plans he has for the sequel to Entertainment Weekly.

Below is everything we know that will happen in the sequel:

Warning: Spoilers coming!

We'll still see the kid version of The Losers Club.

Despite the movie taking place 27 years after the events in the first "It" movie, Muschietti said there will be a place for the younger version of the losers as they will appear in flashbacks.

This will continue on one of the best elements of the first movie: the wickedly fun interactions between all the friends. But also flashing back brings more depth and understanding in the internal fears each loser still struggles with as an adult.

Will the adult losers be known actors or unknowns?

Almost instantly people took to social media after seeing "It" to throw out names of actors who could play the adult version of the Losers Club (Jessica Chastain as the fiery Bev? Chris Pratt as the once chubby Ben?). And though Muschietti admits he and his producers have been thinking about what do to since filming wrapped on the movie, there's still no official decision on how they will handle the casting.

The 1990 "It" TV movie was prominently made up of character actors (John Ritter was the only recognizable name), but times have changed, and with the success of the first movie there may be pressure to get at least a few stars in the club.

The one who stays in Derry becomes a librarian junkie.

One knock on "It" is Mike doesn't get a lot of screen time compared to the other losers. But that will likely change in Chapter Two.

Mike is the one member who doesn't leave Derry. He stays to watch for the return of Pennywise while working as a librarian, and staying behind, he ends up taking the brunt of Pennywise's powers.

“My idea of Mike in the second movie is quite darker from the book,” Muschietti told EW. “I want to make his character the one pivotal character who brings them all together, but staying in Derry took a toll with him. I want him to be a junkie actually. A librarian junkie. When the second movie starts, he’s a wreck.”

Mike will also take part in a ritual that will bring him better understanding of the origins of the alien behind the Pennywise clown, and how the defeat it for good. This is a portion of the book that was cut out of the first movie, but will certainly be of importance in the sequel.

The best teen movies of the '90s

$

0

she's all that

The INSIDER Summary:

  • The '90s gave us some great teen-led movies.
  • Some of the best include "She's All That,""Never Been Kissed," and "Clueless."

The 1990s was a great decade to grow up in. Game consoles were getting big, some of the best music of the past 40 years was being made, and at multiplexes far and wide, cinemagoers were being treated to a raft of great teen movies covering masked killers, sex pacts, and school elections.

It was the decade that introduced the world to Reese Witherspoon, Freddie Prince Jr., Ryan Phillippe, Jason Biggs, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Alicia Silverstone to name but a few.

Building on the success of the slightly less polished teen hits of the ’80s like "Porky’s" and "Fast Times At Ridgemont High," the ’90s ushered in an era of slick, cool, teen-led movies of all shapes and sizes, and while much has changed in the time since, it still represents something of a golden era for this sub-genre of sorts.

But which of these movies sits at the top as the very best among its peers? Here are the 16 best ’90s teen movies, ranked.

16. "But I'm a Cheerleader"

Width: 800px

This clever, satirical tale was inspired by the real-life story of a young man sent to a “reparative therapy” camp by his parents, who feared he was gay. Director Jamie Babbit opted to switch things up for "But I’m A Cheerleader," though, with "Orange Is The New Black’s" Natasha Lyonne starring as Megan, a cheerleader who suspects she may be a lesbian, and is swiftly sent to True Directions by her narrow-minded parents to undertake a five-step program designed to convert her to heterosexuality.

It’s there that she meets and falls in love with Clea DuVall’s Graham, a fellow resident also wrestling with her sexuality. With a cast that includes Michelle Williams and none other than RuPaul, "But I’m A Cheerleader" is funny, clever, and kind of ahead of its time, with Lyonne putting in a performance that set her out as one to watch.

15. "Jawbreaker"

Width: 800px

Try to imagine a cross between "Mean Girls" and "Heathers" and you’re pretty close to picturing "Jawbreaker," another ’90s teen gem with a pretty stellar cast.

With a title that, according to director Darren Stein, reflected the duality of high school girls in that they were sweet but capable of breaking your jaw, the film focused on the trio of Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart, and Julie Benz, three members of a high school clique who accidentally kill the prom queen during a kidnapping gone wrong.

Universally slammed by critics upon release, "Jawbreaker" is a flawed but fun picture that has improved somewhat in the years since, with McGowan excellent as the film’s emerging villain helped by a script that, while lacking logic in places, remains clever enough.

14. "Can't Hardly Wait"

This multi-character teen comedy reads like a who’s who of forgotten child stars and familiar character actors, and it’s a pretty enjoyable effort that, at one hour and 40 minutes, doesn’t outstay its welcome.

Focusing in on a graduation night party, "Can’t Hardly Wait" presents us with any number of familiar high school character types, from Peter Facinelli’s deluded jock Mike to Seth Green’s inspired wannabe rapper Kenny and their various lives and loves on this one night of the year.

Central to the many misadventures on display is Ethan Embry’s Preston, who decides to declare his undying love for high school queen Amanda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) by sending her letter before heading off to college. Throw in the presence of former "Dick Tracy" child star Charlie Korsmo as the class nerd venturing out of his comfort zone for one night only and you have all the ingredients for ’90s teen dramedy gold.
